    Great video! I’m in the process of rebuilding the turbo and needed some guidance, thanks for such a great explanation!
    Only question I have is on most forums it says to balance the turbo after rebuild, is that something I should do?

      That’s one of those type of statements, Synthetic vs. Conventional oils 😂…..I’ve never balanced any that I’ve built

    I'm considering a 240k mile obs with a 7.3. I would almost immediately rebuild the turbo and do a ton of maintenance then get an exhaust and tuner. Not looking to make a ton of power just a clean daily driver that makes cool sounds like my race car.

      Have you used the spoologic billet kit or seen one? The price is amazing.

      It seems like that truck would last my lifetime under my care. I'm not interested in anything newer than the early 2000s. I was a Toyota dealer tech for years I wish they had Diesel could've used the training 😂

    What is your recommended procedure prep for the first restart of a new/rebuilt turbo? Do you crank the motor with the fuel pump fuse/relay disconnected to get the oil flowing, or just pre-lube it to death, and start it normally? Ty

      I had the Gtp38r before it started leaking internally. I loved the whistle and performance with the .84ar on my zf6. I upgraded to the KC 38r center section replacement and now she don't whistle half as much and I'm really disappointed with the slower spool up as well. I measured both turbine wheels and compressor wheels and the kc is 4mm highr than Garrett on both wheels so I guess that's why it a lot quieter. I do have a spare kc300x 63/73 turbo but that thing was way to laggy to for the 6 speed. Anyone with a manual 7.3 should do this gtp38r upgrade from your stock tp38 but use the stock .84ar housing get a boost fooler and close of wastegate and I guarantee you wont be disappointed.

    Go ahead and put anti seize on your bolts. These bolts require 15ft lbs. about 50 cranks on the gun on the nuts. P funny. Overall Helpful video thank you!

    Pretty sure u should be using a seal on the compressor housing. They're customer service reply in Amazon says your supposed to. Idk why they don't include one that's the correct size. Did you ever do a follow up on this video. I installed this kit and absolutely regretted it. My stock turbo did better maintain egts and spooled alot faster.

    • @PowerstrokeBoiz
      @PowerstrokeBoiz  2 роки тому

      Some kits/manufacturers use a seal on the compressor housing. Also you have to remember, your increasing mass of the turbo. It’s going to take tad bit more to light, also could be tuning issue as well. Obviously if your running stock tuning. This won’t be a help at all to you. This kit doesn’t use a compressor housing o ring. It seals itself against the backing plate. I’ll do a follow up video this week, life has been very busy lol. I have no problems pulling 3 Tons behind my truck with EGTS in check

    • @PowerstrokeBoiz
      @PowerstrokeBoiz  Рік тому +1

      @B58 Even lower EGTS. More air on the top end, yes even longer spool time but my trucks so light and I’m on stock fuel still. So turbo still lights pretty well

    • @PowerstrokeBoiz

      @@PowerstrokeBoiz I did more research... Been around turbos for years.. but those were gas engine with much higher rpm ranges..
      Diesels have a much lower rpm range where balancing may not be a detrimental...
      Going to watch you 6.0 torque converter video.. I have a 97 E350 with a E4OD.. I plan on wiring in a lock up switch.. the 6.0 have a more robust friction material
      Thank you...

      7.3 turbos are component balanced, no need to balance as a unit.
