Thanks for the videos Clint. I am in the process of doing several of the things you’ve recommended. I have 2 quick questions: 1. I’m doing the CCV mod and turning the doghouse around. Should I do the same thing (use RTV) to the O rings on the CCV doghouse? 2. I’m doing the double CCV mod for the passenger side (from one of your other videos), could I route that hose into a brass Y fitting and send it out the same direction as the drivers side CCV hose? Like, both CCV’s into one hose in the engine bay, and then routing one hose down the frame of the truck? Thanks!
A great video. Thank you. I have two questions though. There seems to be confusion on the net as to what the proper torque value is for the four (4) turbocharger to pedestal bolts. The FSM says 18, Garret says 35-37 as do some other shops. 1) what torque value for the four turbocharger to pedestal bolts is best/correct ? 2) I am wondering about the four (4) pedestal to engine block bolts. I am thinking of using loctite blue [242] on those bolts, and torquing them to 18 ft lbs .. but it's the same set of O-rings as the turbo to pedestal. Any recommendations ? This is a 1994.5 Powerstroke, using a KC Turbo replacement for the TP-38, original OEM pedestal w/ EBP intact

I like how Very thorough your information is as you do your 7.3 repair videos. However, if you want critic I would say it would help if you could impart your experience with these repairs in a less tensive manner? I like your ending " Hey What are you still doing here" its definitely you but more relaxed.
This is a good explanation to how an o-ring can leak but I feel like in this case these are band aids to the root issue. Why would the customer not just get a new pedestal? Also, a very common leak point is the oil assisted actuator. If you are not in a SUPER cold climate area I would have gotten a pedestal that deletes the oil assisted actuator (EBPV delete). If you fix the o-rings and then a month or so down the road the EBPV starts to lead then it makes you look as if you didn't fix the first issue. I always spring for new pedestals with EBPV deletes since they are fairly inexpensive.
This is a really good vedeo and excellent explanation 👏 👌 mostly of the people they fixing very faster job and later comes back a twice problems 🤔 exactly what my parents said: if you don't know better not touch 😀 you are a professional mechanic and your vedeos helps really much 👍 showing exactly how is a right process for fixing 👏👏👌👍 I learned much on this vedeo 🤔👏👏👌👍 sometimes the cheapest parts costs over double of the price if we buying a original one 👌👍 I appreciate your help and ALL your vedeos cheers from Norway and have a great weekend 👋👋🤗
Firstly let me say I certainly appreciate your commitment to quality repairs. Nice to see common sense being used as well. One question that I have is, what did you use to clean the pedestal aluminum. You said, "Don't use Scotchbrite pads or sandpaper". That makes perfect sense, but did you use a type of liquid cleaner or thinners to clean the O-ring seats to eliminate the discoloration?
I jus use hi temp copper never seize on all my gasket surfaces, never had an issue. If it's good enough for 1500lb steam lines,it's good enough for my 7.3
Hello Clint. Great video! A tip; use the sound stream from one camera. Sound levels are almost the same but the sound difference between the 2 cameras is huge (I'm listing on big speakers). Keep up the good work and thank you!
Thanks for the wise advice! I am going to replace my pedestal and rebuild my turbo soon. I am not looking forward to doing this while in the engine bay :(
Thank you for the great video. Attention to detail is king. I do all my own repairs now because I've had such bad experiences with most repair shops. I'm curious about your opinion of the EBPV pedestal delete. Thanks again for all of your great info.
I saw the thumbnail showing the O-ring in the compressor outlet, and thought the video was going to be about that one. For some reason I cannot find that O-ring anywhere for the E99 7.3's. After pinching one, I dug thru piles of "junk" and discovered that the thermostat gasket, even though it has a square profile is a viable replacement gasket. The 99 - 03 compressor outlets are a larger diameter and they are the ones you can find. As for the pedestal O-rings, I've never had one leak.
My trouble is that I replaced the hpop lines but didn't go back with OEM. They leak . None are machined correctly. Without that groove to retain the o-ring seals, they simply push out of blow out. What now? By the way, I truly appreciate your candor and experience.
I’m a little confused, are you saying to use this method in lieu of replacing a warped/damaged not square pedestal ? Because why would you need this method ,if it’s square the o-rings should seal properly with proper torque down.
Very entertaining, and filled with good information. I like to listen to people like you when I am researching information to decide if I want to buy a vehicle. You might consider checking your microphone volumes and positioning before recording. One of them was quieter and different pitch. I was also wondering if you could include any changes, like from different years they might have incorporated. Or just comment if powerstroke stayed the same from initial to later years. It is clear that you know what you are talking about, so your knowledge is appreciated. So, thank you.
Hey Clint I have a 95 that is dumping oil somewhere it has no visible leaks on the ground and I’m not seeing any up top the turbo has some play in the shaft but not much however there was visible oil in the y pipe and intake. The truck is blowing white smoke almost like a steam from the oil fill hole but no pressure coming out of it I don’t see any oil coming out of the exhaust either and the coolant looks fine the truck has 10k miles on new full force injectors
Got to be the turbo if you see oil on the y pipe or exhaust connections If it was a valve or piston ring when you start it you would here a fast skip then you know thats the issue
Thanks for putting these videos out there. I'm pulling and rebuilding my 2000 Excursion 7.3 turbo soon and I'll have my laptop handy so I can watch your turbo rebuild step-by-step. One question I have regarding the waste gate. I understand you wouldn't want to go crazy with it, but would it be a problem to increase the pressure just a couple of PSI, maybe go from 5-8 psi up to maybe 10psi?
Good instructions, since you're messing with the pedestal and maybe need to replace it, please share your thoughts on the EBPV delete for those of us who live in warmer parts of the country.
Great info on really getting a prefect seal for both the pedestal And the turbo with the 2 bolts ready to drop in! So what's your though on using a RiffRaff EBPV Delete pedestal?? Also back in 2003 I changed the turbo wheel with a Banks wheel an of course I dismantle the turbo and held the exhaust side wheel with a rag and Hand removed the intake side wheel! And Yes, the Turbo is a bugger to remove and replace so this time I'll be 62 so this is going to be even a harder job :)
I always install EBPV delete pedestal and get rid of that flapper with Banks Big Mouth, Yes that turbo gets heavier with age I use to remove gm tran's like bench pressing weights I could never do that now
Both are quality products I would lean to RiffRaff because of faster customer service on all levels Where Banks is such a large company and covers so many products They just don't have a passion for diesels its just another product to sell.

Hi Clint. Thank you for this detailed video. I have a question and hoping you may have some ideas to share. I followed your instruction on what seemed to be a successful removal and installation, with no leaks. I waited several days for the RTV to dry completely and fired her up, then went for a test drive. My turbo worked prior to the installation and now it doesn't. I can hear it making a loud scratchy noise. It has no power when accelerating. Any thoughts on what I could have done wrong? Thanks, Chris

I'm new but know what you mean when you talk about Techs working in the industry and I agree from experience. I bought my Ford new in 1997 and will never get rid of it. I'm having some oil consumption issues and will be doing some checking but the info I heard from you has given me some ideas. You have some of the best info and i will be looking for more videos.
What year 7.3? Is the valve a backpressure valve or waste gate? (8:25)
…..perfect explanation about sll details……time..take time for do everything….perfect….👍
Clint, thank you, sir, you are the man. Thank you for all the lessons on my 7.3 them everyday. My 97 f350 dually is at 350,000 miles last week had my 1st check engine light.. it's running again but I get a check engine light while the glow plug Selenoid is on. I'm not sure which thing is is not working properly. I've ordered a wiring harness... any input would be great
Very well done, free high quality technical training.
Going to attempt this job now. Hope it works out cause shops out here are charging $135/hr for labor and I’d like to tackle this job myself if I can.
Clint your awesome man .I have two 7.3 trucks 99.5 and a 2000 going to use for hot shot trucking
I like how Very thorough your information is as you do your 7.3 repair videos. However, if you want critic I would say it would help if you could impart your experience with these repairs in a less tensive manner? I like your ending " Hey What are you still doing here" its definitely you but more relaxed.
Thank you very much
This is a good explanation to how an o-ring can leak but I feel like in this case these are band aids to the root issue.
I got the deleted pedestal and I have had it off twice and each time the orings still leaked.. gonna have to try the rtv method
Your like the intimidating dad of a high school kids date. 😂 I do like how you get your point across though. No BS.
glad i found your channel i been dreading this job i like the details you discuss
Thanks for the knowledge and taking your time to explain to us average joes, great stuff God bless
Thank you
Thanks for the wise advice! I am going to replace my pedestal and rebuild my turbo soon. I am not looking forward to doing this while in the engine bay :(
Awesome lesson!! Any tips on the HPOP seal to Reservoir?
Running a hone across the mating surfaces as a machinist I highly recommend.
Thank you sir! One question what do you recommend for cleaning the surface. obviously not like you said scoth guard or as ny to hing abrasive.
Thank you for the great video. Attention to detail is king. I do all my own repairs now because I've had such bad experiences with most repair shops. I'm curious about your opinion of the EBPV pedestal delete. Thanks again for all of your great info.
oh no, please do not listen to this guy. ONLY HACKS use RTV where o-rings should be used.
You're spot on! Keep up the good work..
Great video helped out 100%
Love the videos! Great advice!
My trouble is that I replaced the hpop lines but didn't go back with OEM. They leak . None are machined correctly. Without that groove to retain the o-ring seals, they simply push out of blow out. What now? By the way, I truly appreciate your candor and experience.
He does not answer questions. He did at a time. But stopped since.
Do you use any anti-seize, or threadlocker on the two, turbo-to-pedestal bolts? Ty
I’m a little confused, are you saying to use this method in lieu of replacing a warped/damaged not square pedestal ? Because why would you need this method ,if it’s square the o-rings should seal properly with proper torque down.
He doesn't answer questions. He is not here to help us. Only to get views and comments. Sad world we live in these days.

@@CUSTOMWORKS7.3PSD does anything need to be done with the EBP sensor after the delete?
Great video, Love how you say O rings also.
Perfect timing. Installing mine today. Well I was until I learned I couldn’t use my Amazon oarrings.
Thanks for the great info doing mine this week very helpful!
After everything is installed, is their a wait time to fire the truck up for the RTV to set up?
As always thorough n great tips
Great info on really getting a prefect seal for both the pedestal And the turbo with the 2 bolts ready to drop in! So what's your though on using a RiffRaff EBPV Delete pedestal?? Also back in 2003 I changed the turbo wheel with a Banks wheel an of course I dismantle the turbo and held the exhaust side wheel with a rag and Hand removed the intake side wheel!
And Yes, the Turbo is a bugger to remove and replace so this time I'll be 62 so this is going to be even a harder job :)
I always install EBPV delete pedestal and get rid of that flapper with Banks Big Mouth, Yes that turbo gets heavier with age I use to remove gm tran's like bench pressing weights I could never do that now
@@CUSTOMWORKS7.3PSD So would you go Banks or is RiffRaff quality good for the pedestal and the EBPV delete kit??
Both are quality products I would lean to RiffRaff because of faster customer service on all levels Where Banks is such a large company and covers so many products They just don't have a passion for diesels its just another product to sell.
Thoughts on KC turbos? I just ordered a billet plus. It's pretty much a stock turbo just with some upgrades. I also picked up the CNC fabrication 4 line feed fuel kit I have the bad return line.
@@lawrencemarshall4205 Heard good things about KC Turbos and I hope it Rocks on your Rig! I'm sticking with a Garret and do some upgrades to the turbo, and RiffRaff has a great supply of mods for the Garret :)
Starting a new job this that actually pays very well so I'll be putting a wish list together for Big Blue, my 2000 F-250 7.3... Married coming on 36 years and I've always found it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission to Blow lots of cash on my truck :)
Thanks for taking the time bud!
Excellent content! Thanks for your time.
Nice video with precise instruction!
I had the issue if leaking turbo but was a stripped out rear turbo hold down bolt... somehow the threads with helicoil went bad and had to be redrilled and reinsert new heli coil.. used the new better O rings and torqued in stages as well.
Watch the block man. Sliding that turbo across it can't be good
I have a 02 powerstroke 2504x4 if you accelerate to 2200 rpm or higher the motor bogs down or misses and smokes, if you kill it and restart it runs fine until you accelerate heavy again, I have had it at a shop and replaced multiple parts any ideas thanks a lot
He don't answer questions. Sucks
Great Videos and I Always Learn something.Good Stuff.
Very helpful thank you, do you have the link to the ford orings on amazon?
amzn.to/3rU9pzS amzn.to/43MhXpz
When you said to use good gray RTV sealant you are talking about this motocraft sealant on the link?
Hey C.A. where do you live? I need you to be living in my neighborhood. best 7.3 channel on UA-cam
Ok at about 12.00 when he talks about cleaning the oring surface. He says don't use scotchbright or sand paper, but you have to get it clean. Even clean it 3,4,5......10 times. Well clean it with what?
rags, soft chemical resistant plastic brush and lacquer thinner does a fantastic job There are some things we are warned about from youtube to not disclose thats why it is not stated
You do a great job 7.3s rock!
Thanks for the good info great video
Thanks, Chris
gotta check all the connections I guess never had any one have this issue before
just thought waist gate connection may be in wrong position
@@CUSTOMWORKS7.3PSD I'm thinking maybe an exhaust leak from the up pipe connection to the turbo
@@CUSTOMWORKS7.3PSD Thank you, I will check that too.

As a new owner of a t444e, can I use most Ford 7.3 parts? I live near a Ford dealer but International is almost 2 hours away. I'm thinking I may need a cam position sensor, every once in awhile it will cut out at an idle or running down the road,a brief hiccup. Do you offer any tech support,I'll gladly pay your fee. I enjoy your videos and you seem like a guy who knows these motors and how to work on them properly. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
yes ford parts cross to t444e's there are some items you will need to source from IH/Nav depending on the motors application
@@CUSTOMWORKS7.3PSD Thank you.
Nothing on the bottom 2 oring? I missed that part and torque on those bolts
Still driving the 7.3 only diesel truck I’ve ever had. Not towing with it yet. Had several issues over time.
What’s the problem with my truck how do I record the engine behavior in order to get help with diagnosis?
just settled on 2 affordable diagnostic tools so I will be putting a video together and this has been a long road we have tested over 32 units
