What a great video! Thank you for giving great information about the new parking reservation system. Just popping by to let you know that the Spring Hopper pass is $72+tax for 2023.
My favorite place on earth....been visiting since the 60's. It has changed alot since then. It was privately owned and most people did not even know it was there. Behind the area where you were sitting, on the hill, there were cabins. We stayed there one week around 1967. One of my favorite family vacations. Thanks for sharing
You were in my absolute favorite area of Florida. In the mid 1970’s my family and I would go from Astor (where we had a houseboat slip) to Silver Glen. We would hook up to the dock (no longer there), with water and electricity. It is still a truly amazing spring. I will tell you in 1970’s, the spring head literally was like a giant boil, as in you could see the water break the surface from the powerful force pushing up the water. Visible from any angle and a fair distance away. If you could have seen it back then you would surely been even more impressed. Swimming underwater was like swimming in sir, the fish looked like they too were just swimming along in air, with only the slightest hint of water. The eel grass ran throughout the run, swaying nearly 90 degrees from power of the spring towards Lake George. The black algae was not there, instead ell grass covered those areas. As beautiful as it still is, it has changed quite a bit. A real shame that you couldn’t have seen it back then. As far as your air show, which I’m was stunning, especially when you’re on such a tiny “boat”. There used to be an area of Lake George that was restricted due to the military using as a bombing run area. I don’t know if that’s what you seeing for sure. Thank you for sharing, brings back many great memories. Since today’s generation has nothing to compare Silver Glen with from the past. I’m sure it looks as amazing to you as it did to me nearly 50 years ago! Makes my wonder what it was like 100 years ago. Enjoy
Thank you so much for writing. I bet it was absolutely stunning in the 70s! 👀 That boil has so much force now, it’s crazy to think it was even stronger at some point. Wow. Yes the air show was so crazy. I know they must’ve been trying to knock me off. It’s hard to really show how close they were flying. Nuts!!! Haha and awesome 💙💙💙
Bravo ! Bravo ! And Thank you for another great adventure from your eyes to my home computer ! Silver Glen has to be in my Top Five Favorite Springs if not my favorite. It is closer to my home than many and it is stunning.. My dear neighbor and friend Dorothy (God Rest her soul) told me wondrous tales of Silver Glen from the 1940s when she and her husband wired electricity into the cabins that use to occupy the land in the park..It is fun to imagine what it was like in that era. Still awesome today ! You guys are the best and are much appreciated for the videos and education you provide !!!
It's just another little tip. They are thinking about shutting down the runs to boat traffic. Because people are throwing their trash overboard and into the run.And the spring. Please do not throw your trash in the Spring.Pick your trash up , put it in a container or take it home with you. Thank you
I used to keep a sailboat across lake George at Pine Island marina. Just about every Friday i would sail the 7 or 8 miles and spend Friday night on the boat. Good times.
The jets were most likely out of Jacksonville NAS doing practice bombing runs on the Pinecastle Impact Range that is about 10 miles SSW of Silver Glen. My family and I used to camp at Farles Prairie (back when you still could camp there) and you would often be woken up near first light by similar practice runs.
I have never been to Silver Glen looks great but I live in Mayo so there’s so many springs in my area that I don’t go to springs in other areas but I may have to check that one out also the jets were cool
Mon-Fri you do not need to reserve a parking spot at Silver Glen (unless it’s a holiday). I recommend going mid-week. Get there by 8am if you can. There is a regular entrance fee. Mid-week the crowds are not too bad early. It definitely picks up through the day. You will love Silver Glen! Have fun!
Great video! I'm sure other have commented before, but your logo is also one of the Alcoholics Anonymous logo. You may sell more merch if you change it.
It’s a day-use spring only. There are other springs in the Ocala National Forest you can camp. Salt and Alexander are two good spots! Make sure you check our videos on those 💙 Have fun!
No charge if you go by boat. If you want to swim up to the boil and play around you will not be charged. If you step up on the shore in the swim area or any other part of the park, you are required to pay for an armband. There are signs posted on shore that state this.

Got it. Thx for the update 🙌 I’ll pin this post at the top!

It’s still beautiful. I bet it’s a great place to camp. I’d love to bring a houseboat for a few days! 💙🤙

Thank you so much! I wish I could’ve seen Silver Glen back in the day! I hear so many great stories. So glad you like the video 😁

Thank you!!!!🙏
Dumping human waste as well., but the park keeps testing the water and the spring keeps it clean.

Which springs are your favorite near Mayo?
@@artofadventurepascalemo little river except on the weekends then it’s to crowded
@@jamesblanton3744 Right! Yeah I like Little River, Royal, Troy… Peacock in that area 🙌
Is there a parking fee or entrance fee during the weekday? We're planning on going early in the morning. What's the crowd like then?

Thank you for the heads up!
I live on the st.johns...lots of military activity lately.....something up....
Interesting. Lemme know if you find something out!
Can we stay there overnight camping ?

Pour some out for the drone 🛸
🥃🥃
Do they charge you if you come in by boat
Technically they can charge you. But I’ve seen plenty of people swim up to the spring head with no problems. Hope that helps!

Can u still stay overnight with a boat🤔
Yes. As far as I know that has not changed.
Yes, for now. Changes are coming, unfortunately. There are a few boats that have been there for months and years that have ruined it for others.
Beautiful but it's Florida and that means gators and pythons
We definitely have lots of critters!
