One of the best video you've ever done.
Only if it fits. Im kinda short for a german guy 178cm. And prefer shirts that ends on the waistline to show more leg. But mostly they dont. You have to buy a „cropped“ version that also doesnt work all the time
i love the concept of one's uniform and have been using it for the past few years, works better for me than a capsule wardrobe. i find it extremely liberating. i have managed to collect a nice collection of good quality pieces over the years which i enjoy re-wearing
Great tips! A set of uniforms is definitely key to repeating outfits, it usually contains a good base to change things up, eventually you will figure out what you like/looks good on you. Another important factor for me is familiarity, a repeated outfit, I know for sure I will feel confident and comfortable in without stressing myself out during the day 🤣

I've been watching for a few weeks and it's honestly brought about a real sense of self, and items I wear that are my 'uniform', and what I'd enjoy branching out into. Very much appreciated, and thank you for your passion, good heart and endeavour.
I just found this after not seeing one of your videos since like 2016. CRAZY how much your aesthetic has changed. We all grow up haha. This is what I dress like too now.
Honestly, I think a lot of people get sucked into this mentality of “I need 100 different unique outfits” when in reality this is way too expensive, requires a lot of washing and maintenance etc. you can just swap trousers / jumpers / shoes and you still have loads of outfits. I’ve quickly had to stop feeling like I need to constantly buy clothes so I have several colour variations of the same thing
I’m glad I have sorted out my personal style. Most of the time, I just pick what’s at the top of the shirt pile and what’s at the right side of the hanger rack. I make minor adjustments depending on mood, weather, and occasion. Having a limited color palette works well too.
It's something I've realized myself after many years. A simple white tee just looks great, always. You don't need to have 50 shades of colors to look stylish or stand out.
@@Bynasf depends on how you wear it. A badly fitting 'unique' shirt with little style cohesiveness will make you more forgettable. James Dean wore a basic white tee and denim.
I do something similar where in my phone notes I have Mon-Sun outfits planned for each season. Based on what’s on my wardrobe. So every Monday during summer I’ll wear the same outfit. And so on for each season. This is good bc you get good wear out of every piece of clothing you own until it eventually dies and then at some point you can replace it with a newer piece. It also gives peace of mind that I don’t need to worry about clothing all the time in my life
I love how you do it. I do the same with my leather jeans I know what shirts go with them and truly how comfortable they make me feel. You look brilliant mate. 😊
Great video, man! I love the idea of finding a "structural fit" (lol I just made that up) that works best for you and sticking to it. You can always make slight surface changes that won't affect the "structure", but that will help keeping it exciting and fun. Also, I don't know if you that's what you mean to imply at all, but I like the concept of "everyday" vs. "going out" clothes. Like you said, it's exhausting to put too much thought into what you wear every single day. It's nice to just save that energy for a night out or a special occasion.
Structural fit is a great way of putting it! Yeah I definitely have a set of smarter/formal clothes because let’s be honest t-shirt and jeans isn’t going to work for every occasion (unfortunately!).
My main motivation to start doing this was to be able to use my favorite clothing pieces everyday. The hardest part has been finding replacements when some item is discontinued, but at the same time that same forced change has lead to improvement overall.
Well I am a woman and have been practicing this for a bit now and find it so liberating. Enjoy all of your videos James-Thanks and shout out from SoCal!
Hi James from the Philippines! I love your style and videos and opinions about fashion in general. I relate to the brands that you’re wearing, which were timeless, stylish and durable. I also like your kinda ‘anti-overconsumption’ stance on clothing. More videos! 🤘
Great video James, and one with an important message! As someone who's looking to cut down on my spending and the amount of items in my wardrobe, this was very useful advice.

I really love this video, I like the idea about “uniform” and your video make me think about what is the “fits” i love to wear again and agian. Thanks for wonderful content, James!
Good stuff Jamo. You're the anti-influencer in the best way. Down to earth, relatable and honest. Keep it up. So rare in the mens fashion youtube-sphere.
By having a uniform, we have the opportuniity to imprint our clothing items with a bit of ourselves. And, particularly for our loved ones, that's not a trivial thing. Those who love us will get to better understand us, appreciate us, and remember us if we more regularly wear the same few times. "That jacket," for example, has the opportunity to be elevated, through wears, beyond just "a jacket." Even if there are others like it, some jackets are remembered as his/her/their jacket - and that kind of significance only happens with time and after hundreds of wears.
This makes a lot of sense to me. I might own 30 pieces of clothing (on purpose) but everything I own is higher end and I avoid buying anything fast fashion or that I don’t need. I’m also a licensed therapist (mental health) and having a daily uniform of a button down or sweater plus chinos or slacks. Plus either my Clark’s wallabee’s or my new balance 990’s just makes sense. Plus I like looking mature. Decision fatigue is a very real thing.
Great video James. As a fashion UA-camr, I wear the same thing everyday. It’s a great way to keep things simple. You’ve inspired me with this video, thank you!
If you are happy to be considere boring, and wear something like a uniform without thinking, this is OK. But by definition it's the opposite of fashion. Fashion means change. 20 years the same isn't fashion.
Another great video James, all good points, I tend to wear the same outfit all the time too (I’ve got multiples) and that’s just a black t shirt and black shorts or black sweatshirt and black sweatpant/trouser, and my shoe as of lately has been a loafer. I get hot easily so I tend to wear less or lightweight clothing. It does reduce decision fatigue. I’ve been thinking about buying more clothes in neutral colours. But I really dig the ald look too so I’m slightly mimicking them with my own twist and also for example buying new balance who they’ve collabed with. Also I love the PEARL necklace! Have a good day. ✌️
As always, absolutely on point with the approach here for "normal" people that dont have the time or money to have 300 different outfits like some influencers. Fantastic videos recently mate!
i’m the exact same way, I also mainly wear neutral colors which makes dressing fairly easy. As much as I may love fashion I enjoy practicality too much
I do this with shoes. I usually have one pair of office shoes, and one pair of leisure shoes that I wear. I want each pair to be very comfortable and still look ok. Then I wear them until I fully replace them and throw them away.
I completely understand you! I had the same focus on having a limited, utilitarian, highly functional wardrobe when I was younger. Now that I have reached maturity and traveled, my tastes expanded and I have a ton of things in my wardrobe from different styles and I wear it all depending on my mood and situation. I found that having limited choices in clothes no longer suited my personality and diverse interests. I read, I travel, attend parties and live a colorful life. Therefore having the tee the jeans and the jacket every day does not reflect my intellectual development, my taste, my education, my manners and my status. If you have something to say with your clothes, say it!
