As a frequent turtleneck wearer, I think they work best as layering pieces. I often invert the rule of thirds by wearing a long coat with a turtleneck that is tuckable. Also, used under a lot of blazers or even layered under a button down with just a bit visible for a pop of color. They can defintely look odd as a solitary layer. I totally agree re: slighly mismatched denim on denim. I struggled for a couple of years with an indigo jacket before finally landing some matching pants.
I've have unique situation where I bought things that didn't fit my wardrobe in the moment but it became my favorite piece to wear 2-3 years later. This has happened to me countless times 😂😂
Great point about the sleeve sizing! I guess 1 difference with the rocker style is that the shirt sleeves pop out from under, making it look a bit more well fitted for me personally :)
Mock-necks work better for me. I usually fold them down half way so the neck is shorter. It's a great layering piece under a button-up and even a t-shirt where you get a contrasting color sitting right at the neck line. Elevates a look. I got the uniqlo-u mock-neck merino wool sweaters in the xxs to wear them almost like t-shirts under t-shirts, shirts and hoodies.
I prefer crew neck much more than turtleneck. But I don't agree turtleneck looks bad. It goes well with the coat and can protect the neck warm in winter. (Seoul is cold 🥶) Anyway Happy Christmas Harry!!! 🎄
To the guy wearing the oversized red cardigan and baggy khaki pants from the last two outfits, he might be mistaken for an employee if he was walking inside a Target
Hello Harry, my name is Carlos and I’m from Spain… I’m a subscriber of your channel and been following your videos for a very long time. First of all I’d like to thank you for your effort and very good content in my opinion… Just wanted to say something about the “good fit looking” if a person follows the “rule of thirds”… My opinion is that “maybe” if you took that rule as a “more easy” way to look for a more balanced look (if that’s your thing) then you may minimize risks.. but if, for instance, you take a look to some modern looks of fashion like “Fear of God”, and not only that because you may say that FOG is an urban like style….. but for example one of the most reputable brands of luxury like “The Row” you can notice instantly that they rarely follow that “rule of thirds” and the looks are elegant and amazing….. The real deal is to understand that the fit on somebody else will not necessarily be how it will fits to you, but to play with proportions, textures and styles would be great if you know what fits to you. Thanks very much again for your videos Harry…
Thanks mate! Glad you like the videos. Fear of god are a brand who very much follow the rule of thirds. Not with all their fits but a lot. The Row do too. As I mention I. The video, it’s not the only way to do things, it’s just what I enjoy most of the time. I think people should do whatever works for them but I still don’t think the example photo I used was a well fitted look regardless. Happy holidays Carlos and thanks again
Great video as usual! How would you recommend specifically achieving the rule of thirds? Purchase high waisted trousers and smaller shirts? I try achieving the rule of thirds with the pieces I have but can never get it right 😂
I have a black turtleneck, which fortunately is not thick so I can tuck it in and attempt the rule of thirds. Your videos always make me think. Happy Holidays 🎄
Regarding rule of thirds. 2/3 of my body measures exactly to my hip bone. I think a jacket in that length is a bit too short, it is unpractical for comfortable movement. I prefer to use the golden ratio which gives me a bit longer proportions (body length to shoulder/1.618= length from floor to bottom of jacket). I think Jacob's top is slightly longer than 1/3 and closer to the golden ration.
@@HarryHas I usually wear a bit more oversized clothes and think that slightly longer jacket than 1/3 looks better on me. With a tighter fit, I think rules of thirds works better.
@@pistolen87 either that jacket is extremely short or the trousers have a very low rise. I wear shorter jackets and mid-high rise trousers and have never encountered these problems
I'm always happy about those educational videos. It's need to learn new aspects about styling yourself. But your opinion about turtlenecks... I fully agree. I don't like them, too :D Thanks for this video and see ya
Sure Turtlenecks make my torso longer, but I am short and with broad shoulders everything looks too long on me, i just wear pants closer to my waist and tuck or just "fold in" my top (in this case a turtleneck). As you said I absolutely love them, i used to hate them but thy are a godsent in winter
I know what you mean with turtlenecks. I had this issue with "more" formal ones which are normally to long. When they sit kind of same lenth as your e.g. short leather jacket they can elevate your look quiet well. Elongating one body part is kind of great eg. shorter persons can appear taller when they style a more high waisted trousers / jeans.
Bought a navy blue cable knit turtle neck this month and it's looking beautiful on me like it's glowing my skin 😍 😍 and when i pair it with my ecru colour trouser the outfit look clean, elegant and sophistication ✨✨
UPDATED COMMENT. I was shocked when I once wore a thong, backwards. Was definitely not a good look. Commenting for laughs. Now going to view the video. Standby for an updated comment 😂 Update: Great tips. I’ll focus on the shoes. OG here, I’ve learned the hard lessons for you. So listen 🎧 🆙. Don’t wear cheap shoes. Avoid plastic shoes. Invest in shoes made of leather with a Goodyear welt. Why? Because cheap shoes will make your nice outfit look … cheap. People, especially women, always notice your shoes, after they look at your “package 📦.” You may have a nice package, but you aren’t going to close the sale with the honeys, if she is turned off by your 2 buck plastic dusty shoes.
Nah, that cut to Postman Pat took me off guard 😆
😂
I used to not like turtlenecks but they are such a great layering piece to add for a closed or zipped up jacket.
🤟

That’s definitely one of the best ways to wear them in my opinion
I think denim on denim still looks good even when the colors are only slightly off.
🤟 it definitely can

That’s lucky!
always solid. been living in japan for a few months. your style advice has been allowing me to keep up with the locals. haha thanks sir x

Great timing on the Turtleneck part because I'm looking to buy a few soon and now I know what to look for and mistakes to be careful of!
👍
I've tried to buy several different turtlenecks and they never look right. Now I realize why! Great video.
Thank you very much
I do not mind the sleeves a bit longer on jackets as they are warmer especially with gloves. Sleeves can also be turned up a bit.
Great video Harry! loved the denim on denim take, haven't thought of that!
Thanks a lot mate
Ooo I like the a/b test of the thumbnail! I vote first one 1️⃣

There are many ways to do it. Tuck in your top, wear more cropped tops, use other items to create a visual break
Could you please explain this creating a visual break?????
Buy women's shirts and jackets. They are usually shorter in length.
@@cracklingsoda a belt with a contrasting color is a way to visual break.
If you just use diferent colors in your outfit you will get it.
Usually what ruins a ‘fit…… is The Fit. Finding a good, affordable tailor and a good cleaners changes the game

1:59 THAT JACKET ON THE RIGHT! NEED! What is it anyone know?
It’s from Acne Studios so be prepared to spend a pretty penny
Awesome vid as always! But 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻 for the turtlenecks!
😂 Thanks mate
Thanks for the video, man!

Turtlenecks only look good on skinny dudes. Even average sized dudes look oddly chubby in them imo. At most I will explore a mock neck.
Thanks
Wow thanks so much. That’s very kind of you
Just bought 2 turtlenecks 🥲🥲
Enjoy them. It’s only my opinion
you doubled up on that John Elliott hemi huh? That batch is defective with a way too artificially faded pattern (hence the fire sale).
I like it
Where to get your shirt here?
It’s from John Elliott
Not just the outfit but your looks matter too. If you’re ugly, you’re ugly 😂
agree no turtlenecks! 🎄
Respect Postman Pat's long head
Always
Merry Christmas Harry, thank you for another year of amazing content. Hope you have a nice break!
Thanks a lot bro. Have a good one too
Great video Harry!
Thanks mate
Thanks Harry!!
Cheers Alfred. Have a good Sunday
So many good examples. Turtlenecks are so hard to get right
Thank you 🙏
What a dumb video... Love it
great video!
Can we get a video on color theory?
Thanks mate. It’s not really something that interests me much and I think people have already done some great videos on it online
