Short guy here. Had some of my shirts cropped prior to the trend out of necessity so I welcome this as sometimes the added hassle of tailoring puts me off certain things I like. Don’t understand why some brands don’t do shorter proportions. It’s literally a difference of a few inches.
Same here! Ive raw hemmed a bunch of my shirts and I feel so much more confident - thing is, even my taller friends feel that their shirts are too long, so you’re right; why fashion houses, designers, even fast fashion, can’t make shorter shirts is beyond us
The thing about fashion is that we can feel guilty purchasing a certain item or following a trend but don't give ourselves enough credit for the trends we don't follow, especially when there's so much content from influences and brands thrown at us these days, that makes us feel that fomo.
Regarding the Timberland comment @ 6:02: In some NYC 'hoods, Tims haven't gone out in more than 30 years. They're beyond "trend" and/or "hype" in these places. Of course, the influencers in NYC-Soho and W'Burg/Bushwick, etc... are a completely different thing.

Something very socks with sandals/navy with black about it (ironically we’ve been seeing a lot of those two fashion faux pas in trend forward looks this year!). No hating however, the future only knows a portion of my current closet is made up of pieces I’ll eventually come to despise haha!
Agreed. I'm all for trying new things and being creative but mixing two completely opposite styles is almost always going to end up looking weird. The style can't decide what it wants to be so it ends up not really being anything imo. I'm not saying it can't be done, some people can pull it off no doubt, but I think it has to be done quite subtly or tastefully and only works in very specific circumstances. I feel a lot of people who dress like this are just copying Tyler the Creator's take or ALD's interpretation, which is questionable to begin with, and can't pull it off.
I think its sort of like a balancing act and its how well you can find balance in the outfit. some people can over do it but sometimes something just hits.

Trends to me feel very "sheepish". Where people just end up looking the same and you can tell who just copies what is trendy. It ruins and takes away from developing your own style. Hi 👋 im in my sixties in age. I have viewed your channel before , and you good content. I remember the 1980s and the baggy trouser style then. I remember visiting the USA and i bought some new trousers over there. They were baggy at the top and tapered to the ankle. They had pleats at the top. Stone wash denim was popular too. I wore boat shoes with them , or ankle boots for a more dressy look. Bomber jackets were fashionable then. Shirts haven't changed musc. The Chinese collar style which were popular in the late 1970s still were into the 1980s. Hairstyle was a mullet look. Short on top and through the sides and long at the back. I think mens fashion hasn't changed much since the 1990s.
I was a teen myself in the '80s, in the US -- agree on all you mention, though none of us wore mullets. '50s haircuts were in, short all over with just enough on top to comb. Either that or one wore a long all over look. Some kids went for a Ska/ skin-head look, shaved all over but with long sideburns. Some punks with mohawks. Or just sloppy mid-length hair, messy over the forehead. Mullets were for long-haired kids that grudgingly went to the barber's on parent's orders and negotiated some sort of trimmed version of their long hair look with the barber and ended up with... the confused compromise of the haircut from hades, the dreaded mullet :-) No offense to your earlier self. Alas, I have said too much. It must be the egg nog. Happy New Year. 😀
I don't hate the baggy pant trend but I feel like it's one of those styles not everyone can really pull off and if it looks good the person has to understand how to style it and proportions ...especially since you're making a pant the statement piece of an outfit . Also, I hope if the metallic trend dies the price of the metallic Wales Adidas goes down because I love them. They're bold but cool and fun, I think. More of a summer vibe to me though.
As a short guy, we cant pull it off but As a kid who grew up in ther 90's, also from getting hand me downs. i feel at home in this baggy trend, so comfy.
Maybe it's the old fashioned older guy in me but these are all trends for a reason. I'm a strong and firm believer that FIT is everything, nothing overly skinny or baggy or cropped or too long. Just right is enough.
I think those New Balance loafers are a hit. Capitalizing on the loafer trend and still being a sneaker. Always sold out. I still rock Timberlands but it's not the bulky orange suede one. It's a slimmer brown with brogue detailing that has developed a lovely patina. The sole came off and I had it stitched back. Cobbler said the original stitching is fake. Soles were glued. :D
I was wearing super baggy trousers 20 years ago when I was in my early 20´s, I’m not gonna wear them again now that would be ridiculous… i knew it was going to come back though since people don’t invent anything new anymore. So in ~5 years (young) people will be wearing skinny jeans like they invented it… and funnily enough the youth (my students for instance) wearing baggy pants cannot believe that they’ll ever be wearing skinny jeans… but I told them that they will 🤣
Yes. The looks now are 90's and Y2K. Literally what I wore when I was young. I'm in my 40s and have a few baggy pieces. :P So the next "evolution" will be the "emo and hipster fashion" which you also predicted.
Metallic shoes are very popular with women in Paris, you see them every day. Not just tennis shoes, but in ankle boots and Chelsea boots. I almost never see guys wearing them. Also, shout out to Brut! I picked up their chorecoat colab with Fatboy - a compliment magnet.
Here in the states, a friend of mine who Manages a Red Wings Store just hooked me up with a pair of Red Wings (Style 202) in the “Ox Blood” leather color. I’m so happy, can’t believe he was supposed to destroy them because someone had taken them back…
Birkenstocks seem to be on the feet of so, damn, very many young people in and around Boston. Worn with anything and everything. I'm in my '50s so am pleasantly surprised to see this decades old brand revived by younger wearers, male and female alike. I remember in the '80s, they had a sort of "hippy", college town vibe about them. Now they seem to have a much wider appeal. UGGs seem to never let up as popular cold weather foot wear -- it's been the case for many years, though almost exclusively with women.
I still have my Timberland hikers from the 90s. I wore them to death for a couple years and haven’t touched them for over twenty years but never got rid of them like other shoes. I started wearing them again last year and wow, they’re as good as when I first got them! usually the glue will have come off or something, but they are still in great shape and look great. I doubt the quality has stayed the same though on new pairs. vintage timbs all the way.
In some cities timberland boots are a staple . Fashion changes to force people to buy to be relevant. But staples such as white tee and straight leg Levi's are always in
As someone from the Midwest, USA, it’s laughable to think Timberlands were a trend. For us, those have never gone anywhere and never will. I know a lot of people who have to buy a fresh pair at the start of every winter

Not a noticeable fashion trend, but the influence of the DJ and DJing in general was a trend which didn’t seem to disappear from 2021-2024. The buzz has obviously died down, now with many fake DJs exposed and now the trend continues to be less popular and I hope that music survives with new artists in 2025. As we know fashion and music trends continue to be intertwined over history.

Maybe the Michigan style coat will come back towards the fore with the slightly smarter side of casual styles that have been increasing on feeds and the increasing number of moc toe boots that are appearing….and I am here for that! 😂
@@travis6694 i like the really thick wool like this one in the video. i have a few, but they are all thin and when you wear them without an undershirt, they are cold because the wind goes right through the yarn

I don't think the baggy trend is that bad. Nowadays there are so many options, e.g. high-waisted/medium-waisted, shorter/longer. In the 00s, there were only low-waisted baggy jeans because high waisted wasn’t “cool”. In my opinion, that was the worst combination🤣🤣
i actually think baggy jeans are gonna stay tbh, skinny jeans were there for a long ass time so i think more baggy cuts are gonna take over for the next couple years
Not saying there's anything wrong with this but bro lives in a very white, eurocentric world. Him saying he's never seen a person wears timbs in person is insane 😂
@ that's not necessarily true. I meant euro-centric as a subculture not a geographical identity. It may be the most dominant one, I'm not sure but it's akin to Americana style in America. And it's not a race thing, I see Daniel Simmons and the likes wear timbs often, it's just the places, spaces, and people he frequents must be very "European". But, also to be fair, I ran to make this comment before I heard his region disclaimer lol.
I just bought new on the detroit jacket after looking for months i could only find second hand in my size for maybe £20 less than new and the ones i could find for less seemed abit fishy. not happy about it but late christmas present to myself i guess.
I think a lot of people have hopped on baggy irregardless of wether it suits them or not. I know full well I cannot do baggy and have dodged this whole trend 😂
The problem with baggy jeans is that cotton doesn't drape very well compared with wool trousers that are front creased. As a result, it will never have the same elongating silhouette as classic trousers. It's a relatively messy look that often makes you appear squat (which is cool in it's way) so with the move towards classic silhouettes I reckon we're due a rebirth of wide flannels/worsteds.
Think it’s really important that you mentioned how styles and fashion or different things. In reality, wear what you want and what makes you happy. If it’s not ‘current’ or ‘on trend’ who cares.
“The sneakers are dead” notion is so dumb. It’s just that there is more diversity right now. I also think Nike is going though a bit of an innovation dip and they will be back
I hope you're right with the (not too) croped and the smarter streetwear style. Both are something I like to see. Thanks for this video and happy holidays 😁
Great video. I really do hope you are right and we see an adjustment in 2025 to slimmer cut pants. I just think these ultra-baggy bottoms look very unflatering, especially jeans. It just looks very juvenile. Please, 2025, no more "pulling the side of my pants to show how baggy they are" outfit checks on my feed.
The thing about baggy jeans and being someone who wore them late 90s I feel they just don’t actually suit people compared to a slim or slightly wider than a slim. It’s like a rebellion to the skinny feels like a fad and hopefully won’t stay around. For me in 25 I hope boxy wide cropped tops vanish. Being tall that’s no good for me 😂
Haha I used to wear them when I was younger as well. I think they look better today than they did back then, there seems to be more options these days!
I tend to think about body types. I've seen slim or slightly wider than a slim with 38+ inch waste. For anyone on the larger side, I don't think slim works for them, and less formfitting clothing can look significantly better.
@ I think wider trousers make more sense than wide jeans but I think the reason they worked in the 50s was because they were also high waisted so the denim jacket being short compliments the trouser so classic in style and look.
@@X0MT0X yeah that’s a great point. I think baggy jeans always look great on shorter wider men but on tall thin people personally I think they have a strange silhouette and look rubbish around the thighs.
@@DB82TECHNO I completely agree. I think it's better to wear what you like and what works for your body than to simply follow a trend. If there are trends you like it's typically possible to incorporate elements of them, while not looking bad.
Bro you lost me when you said you've never seen anyone wearing timbs.. THE WHOLE NYC WEARS TIMBS! TIMBS IS THE SHOE WE'RE KNOWN FOR. IT AIN'T NO TREND! IT'S OUR CULTURE
As a short guy who's been cropping shirts since forever, i hate that it becomes a trend on tiktok. I got a lot judging looks from people now labeling my outfit as tiktok ah outfit. 😭😭😭
Omg dude tiktok has completely ruined so many nice things. But also, if those people only know to reference from tiktok.... mayyyybe they needa lay off the app bc fashion preferences are born from everywhere. I only figured out cropped pieces from this dude after all these years and it's made my style as a shorter guy go up 100%
I don’t wear sneakers AT ALL anymore. I wear only Dr. Martens but that is mainly because my gf was a GM at a store and I have the luxury of having over 20 pairs of them. HOWEVER as I expanded my collection sneakers started to look and feel lame wearing and basic. I am not a flashy dresser anymore but the boots/loafers are a very nice touch and gives my basic boring fits a little more dimension
James, your favorite American 🇺🇸 OG here. Outstanding vlog! Hey, the cable knit sweater looks great on you. It’s a classic, that is going to look even better when you achieve OG status like me, 25 years from now! On “smart casual,” in the USA, it’s also known as “business casual.” We are going to see more young dudes wearing it. Why? Because more and more companies, and non-profit organizations, are bringing the workforce back into the office. Sports coats, blazers, the cool modern trousers (100 percent year round wool, poly wool, etc.), along with Penny loafers, and Darbys, will be a common sight. Ivy Style modernized? On western style. It’s here to stay. At a minimum, every man must own a western style denim shirt, and a pair of Tony Lama or Lucchesse brand cowboy 🤠 boots. Women will want to be with you, men will want to be like you 🫡 Finish 2024 strong, James. Keep having fun, pursing happiness by living a life of purpose and meaning in the service of others first. See you in 2025 🚀💫

Depends on the cut I think. I'm not huge on the shapeless denim stuff, but other pants can look good...
Good observation, thanks!
Those Nike x Bode ld1000, are they real? I never saw that particular colorway.
I assumed they were real!
Short shirts on men look absurd. Baggy pants look like you're wearing someone else's clothes.
man I wear my mmj timbs and yea not much people wear em anymore but thats good for me lmao
I hear you - nothing wrong with that at all!
Think it’s really important that you mentioned how styles and fashion or different things. In reality, wear what you want and what makes you happy. If it’s not ‘current’ or ‘on trend’ who cares.
Yes exactly mate, very important!
Trends, so so so completely passé…
Who cares! Wear what you like and what you think looks good.
Timberlands gained popularity from people wearing in places YOU wouldn’t have been. It’s also why they stand the test of time.
What do you mean with the capital YOU? It looks and sounds vaguely disparaging…
whats your cable knit sweater from?
lol work wear fashion will always make me laugh, most these fashion mf’s don’t have a job
Silver airmax 97's will never die. Chill out
Cable knit sweaters will always be LAME
i have metallic blue new rock boots. i wear them whenever i want
Love to hear it!
@JamesLeung thanks. i wear all black all the time. if i really want to match the boots all i gotta do is put on some spikes
Metallic is a dope color . Period. 🤷♂️
Good video james mate 👍
Hope your weekend was good mate
Cheers! Hope you’ve had a great holiday bro!
I’ll still wear them even if they go out of trend because it suits me! Thanks mate, you too!
Western stayin alive Yihaaaaaaww
Love the cableknit! Perfect cold weather classic
Very Hemingway-esque.🤩
Thank you!
Oversize and short tops, be gone.
Sante🙂🇮🇹
Cropped tops look a bit gay. Discuss.
Haha. I really like regular straight cut jeans like Levi’s 501 - perfect for me!
@JamesLeung 100%. Regular cut jeans are and always will be an undefeated piece of clothing.
Baggy pants are really bad!!!! Horrible style!!
I wore baggy jeans and baggy clothes as a teenager in the 90s. Nothing new. The trend will eventually die out.
Stumbled on this. Sorry I thought it was man’s fashion. Obviously this is teen fashion.
crop tops never have ever been acceptable
Timbs are timeless Bruv
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Interesting, with metal sneakers I agree but here in the Czech Republic I‘ve seen loads and loads of poeple wearing timberlands out in public
That’s good to hear. I’ve not seen many in the UK!
@@iceprada2 calm down
@ lol
As a short guy who's been cropping shirts since forever, i hate that it becomes a trend on tiktok. I got a lot judging looks from people now labeling my outfit as tiktok ah outfit. 😭😭😭
Omg dude tiktok has completely ruined so many nice things. But also, if those people only know to reference from tiktok.... mayyyybe they needa lay off the app bc fashion preferences are born from everywhere. I only figured out cropped pieces from this dude after all these years and it's made my style as a shorter guy go up 100%
just wait a few months and something else will be trending. Or cropped stuff will just be normalized
I’m a New Yorker and timberlands are trash 💯💯💯🫡🇺🇸🦅
I don’t wear sneakers AT ALL anymore. I wear only Dr. Martens but that is mainly because my gf was a GM at a store and I have the luxury of having over 20 pairs of them.
HOWEVER as I expanded my collection sneakers started to look and feel lame wearing and basic. I am not a flashy dresser anymore but the boots/loafers are a very nice touch and gives my basic boring fits a little more dimension
I know what you mean. I much prefer boots over sneakers these days!
@ yeah and I just love how my Docs age like fine wine too.
early to this vid! 🙋
🙏
timbs are ALL over copenhagen dude. it is NOT gonna die here i swear to god XD
Great to hear! 👍

Women will want to be with you, men will want to be like you 🫡
Finish 2024 strong, James. Keep having fun, pursing happiness by living a life of purpose and meaning in the service of others first. See you in 2025 🚀💫
Thanks as always - your comments are great! And I agree with it all. Happy new year mate!
