Being an employee who's required to wear a uniform myself, I can agree that it takes the stress away from people to decide everyday what to wear. If you decide to wear a same dress everyday, your colleagues start judging and wondering why you never change. With the concept of uniforms, that's never a problem.

Yes... but he wore the same colored turtle neck. Why not white one day? Why not blue another day? The point the video was making was he wanted to create an iconic look as the CEO of Apple, much like how the Sony workers' uniforms gave the company an iconic look.

I’ve heard that Albert Einstein had a closet full of the same outfits. The reason being that he didn’t need to expend any unnecessary thought on what to wear.
If that is the case, you can have ten t-shirts in different colors and pick one every day without wasting your precious time because you give e damn to fashion. BUT if you buy a black t-shirt, you're following the nerdy trend.
One of my friends who is a huge Steve Jobs fan, after his death in 2011 she wore his outfit for literally two months straight because she was so devastated and depressed at the time. She’s an English teacher and the funny part is A lot of her students actually followed her. Obviously every day it was right in my mind where I don’t think about it, he was truly the greatest Genius of our time.
I worked at an Apple store in the early 2000's. We were given black turtle shirts with the Apple logo in the left sleeve, to wear as the uniform for our store. We were asked to sign an agreement that we were not to wear the shirts outside our working hours. I still have the shirt and wear it on occasion.
Einstein did the same thing to stop having to waste time trying to figure out what to wear. Also, one can say of the Japanese, they are a "lock step" country. Mind you, I can see the advantage of having employees wearing a standard outfit at work. This makes total sense, when your trying to change the world you shouldn't waist time choosing clothing. The clothing was about image and we already know that Jobs was totally obsessed with image. What I will forever wonder is which original ideas were truly his. The more I learn about him, the more it seems that he stood on the shoulders of truly talented engineers and visionaries and stole the best that was theirs. With that kind of thrust, and with due respect to this departed executive, even pigs can fly.
Well, considering how much good ideas he had, he was truly visionary. But nowadays... look at Rocket Jesus (= Elon Musk).... He is literally MUCH WORSE than any CEO or boss, he invented nothing, and the few ideas he had are literally useless and/or a scam, just to get attention and thats it.

When I’m on holiday I wear essentially the same style, it’s comfortable, practical and whatever I pull out for the day will do without having to think it through
Define "really busy" Cuz we all have 24hrs in a day. However, what we chose to do with those hours will vary. Therefore its not about time, its about priority. We all have the same amount of time to do what we please
There's something missed here: how does it benefit him? Okay, it's iconic. You know it's him. But as a creative, what would benefit would it provide? There's been discussion elsewhere, but in short, it decouples any need to expend the energy to think about dressing to put it into far more (to the individual making the choice) beneficial endeavors. It's also been said that the act of "putting it on" creates a mental modal shift to begin 'the work' or to 'create'. But on a very simple level, having the same means not having to think at all about it. He made a very elegant effort to explore it and developed something he could be comfortable with and then he was done. No more effort needed to decide what to wear, giving him time to develop Apple.
I would be worried people would think I never changed or washed my clothes (or myself). But I did like the Steve Jobs look, it was iconic. I listened to a UA-cam male "minimizer" who wears similar outfits every day, and he says it removes waste time and mental energy. He saves his decision making energy for more important stuff. Job's would have liked that.
Jobs did a similar thing with his cars, replacing his given car with the exact same model and color several times. First a black Porsche 911, then a silver Mercedes convertible. I’m not sure when he started doing it, but with the Mercedes, at least, he had a deal worked out so he got a new car every six months. This allowed him to drive a car without any license plates, as California had a law that said you had six months to put permanent plates on a new car. I’ve never seen anyone confirm exactly why he did it, whether he was just being a petty anti-authoritarian, or he had some other reason, but it was probably more the former.

The reason SJ wore black in the first place was so that he could present his Apple projects (with a black background) and highlight the beautiful white object. The reason he wore those New Balance shoes was because part of his negotiation strategy was to go on walks around the Apple Campus (eg. walking around with Tim Cook or the Disney CEO, etc).

Rumor has it Einstein did the same thing, explaining that deciding what to wear every day was a waste of time and mental energy.
True. He would rather spend time thinking about more important things than whether his tie matched the shirt, or his trousers matched the jacket.
So u don’t have to change clothes for weeks, months😂
Because of image building, now whenever you remember Jobs you will imagine him in the same attire.
In memory of Steve Jobs, Apple began selling the same smartphone every year.
Plot twist: He never learned to wash clothes
*5 mark presentation :-
Me : suit and tie
*A billion dollar presentation :-
Steve jobs :
You know who also wears the same uniform? Darth Vader.
Crazy Steve was casually rocking issey miyake
Steve Jobs predicted the future correctly because he created it himself!
he never created anything, he's just the face of apple.
@@MovieGuy666 nope you are only a Apple-Hater or Steve Jobs hater, its that easy...
Crazy prices for the turtlenecks! 200 dollars!! Madness!
This is what you call maturity at it's extreme level
love how steve jobs was dripped in issey miyake everyday , the girls that get it get it , the girls that dont dont.
reat legends supporting eachtother.
Steve's jeans and sneakers are the models used for the emojis on iOS. If the change the shirt to/add a black turtleneck the homage will be complete
It requires energy to think about what to wear everyday if you have different types of clothes so it's better to select one uniform and move on!👍
Love your content!!
When I’m on holiday I wear essentially the same style, it’s comfortable, practical and whatever I pull out for the day will do without having to think it through
When you're really busy you don't have time to think about what to wear. I always wear plain white or black t-shirt everytime.
Define "really busy" Cuz we all have 24hrs in a day. However, what we chose to do with those hours will vary. Therefore its not about time, its about priority. We all have the same amount of time to do what we please
I love these videos. Their always so well thought out. Congrats on growing your channel!
I just assumed he wanted to want to make some sort of fashion statement at Silicon Valley.
agree
Make a video on why steve jobs wanted to released apple product at lowest price and why he doesn't increase price of apple products every year?
Hi, How are you doing today? My name is Fremlin
This reminds me of long summer nights when I would eat warm cheese in the barn with my grandpa. RIPO grandpa.
He's like an anime character 🤧
I would be worried people would think I never changed or washed my clothes (or myself). But I did like the Steve Jobs look, it was iconic. I listened to a UA-cam male "minimizer" who wears similar outfits every day, and he says it removes waste time and mental energy. He saves his decision making energy for more important stuff. Job's would have liked that.
Who cares what anyone thinks? If you aren't all sweaty and stinky, they won't have a reasons to think that anyway.
“often most beautiful things don’t ask for attention”-simplicity the ultimate sophistication.
Zuckerberg does the same to save time :)
Zuckerberg is a robot and just doesn't care. An evil robot, but a robot none the less.
When I saw him walking by me, shortly before his death, I recognized the outfit before I recognized him. He had lost so much weight.
It removes the low level chore of having to choose which clothes to wear. Less decision making means more efficiency.
Was nice to refresh the memory, I read all of this back in 2012 in his biography by Walter Isaacson. Great Vid.
How's that book on steve jobs by Walter Isaacson....a really good book to invest time into it?
Where is the old music😵
right
I wear the same outfit every day at work
Same
Simple reason to save time , because if we wear different clothes we need to think what to wear which indeed wastes our time
Title: Why Steve Jobs Wore The Same Outfit Everyday
Me: He wants ppl to remember who he is, 😎
Jobs did a similar thing with his cars, replacing his given car with the exact same model and color several times.
And he also liked to park in the handicapped spots at Apple.
Issey Miyake- My Favourite Perfume! This (regards to Steve Jobs Shirt) was a revelation I didn't know about but a great one at that! Thanks for letting us know about this fact ❤️👍
I like to think the reason for his out fit is a statement for "consistency"..
I'm wearing the same underwear for the last 2 years.
Never even noticed.... interesting 🤔
Black turtleneck: clearly did not own a cat. ;^)
Didn't know issy miyake made the turtle neck, nice to know
We're no strangers to love
You know the rules and so do I
A full commitment's what I'm thinking of
You wouldn't get this from any other guy
I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling
Gotta make you understand
Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
We've known each other for so long
Your heart's been aching but you’re too shy to say it
Inside we both know what's been going on
We know the game and we're gonna play it
And if you ask me how I'm feeling
Don't tell me you're too blind to see
Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you
(ooh)
(Give you up)
(ooh)
(Give you up)
Never gonna give
Never gonna give
(Give you up)
Never gonna give
Never gonna give
(Give you up)
We've known each other for so long

Pretty sure all this was in the Isaacson book.
I think you missed a few VITAL details.
He’s just a main character man
I’m sure a lot of his day was spent thinking about bigger picture things. However, my closet is full of variety clothing that are versatile enough to mix and match. So it’s not a total hassle
