      @Soulhazer I'm just curious, do these new tech options really sound "feel" like tube? My son has a Headrush and I often wondered how that would sound ran through my Marshall cab.

I've played Drop D, C# and C for years, and when I go back to E standard on a pair of humbuckers with a crunchy tight gain sound, it always surprises me. The drop tones just seem to flub out and take more tweaking to get that compression back.

    • @Pyrohawk
      @Pyrohawk 2 роки тому

      Ive thought about this; i personally think it comes down to the pickups having better frequency response in the E standard range, meaning that the volumes of each string's notes are higher and closer together than if they were tuned lower.
      I think this is where active pickups come in, or probably a guitar with a different capacitor/resistance circuit (the cap and resistors often placed in the tone control act as a low pass, and the inductance of the coils would probably create a high pass if my electrical memory serves me right)

      Sounds like you don't like progressive metal. There's still plenty of good non-prog metal being made; for example, listen to Alien Weaponry, which is a modern folk metal band (trust me on this one).
      Prog, especially very technical prog, is a weird genre. I consider it an "extreme" relative to old school heavy metal just like death and black metal are (of course prog is probably more "listenable" to the average person than death and black metal are, i mean that in a more genre evolutionary sense)
