Hey everyone! So this is my first attempt at making a video like this, and honestly, structuring this video and articulating my thoughts in a somewhat clear manner was more challenging than I anticipated haha. This was definitely a good learning curve and I'd be keen to make more, so leave any suggestions/critiques in the comments! If there's one takeaway from the video that I can ultimately leave here, it's that practice is key. These tips are foundational principles to apply, but it doesn't mean you'll immediately be able to perfectly learn a Jason Richardson song (or maybe you will). Basically, apply what you can from this video and just continue to practice. You'll be surprised at the results! Enjoy \m/
@@JacobMartin Hi, i have a one stupid question, what the string gauge do you using for drop B? My opinion its very hard to find good string tension for this tuning, i tried 62-12 and 56-12, but 62-12 very tight and in 56-12 6 string a little bit soft
I like how an Australian only mentioned Australian bands in this video, lol. Good video, my guy. I’ve always wanted to know how people like Nik Nocturnal pump songs out so quickly. Especially the tuning.
I have given up on learning by ear a couple of months ago. I feel like giving it another go after watching this video. The EQ tip sounds really useful. Btw what is that dildo like shaped thing in your background?
Awesome video dude. I will definitely apply these techniques in the future. Now if you'll excuse me, I gotta toss a shrimp on the Hugh Jackman by crikey.
Honestly, this is the best video I've seen on UA-cam on this topic. This is amazing and full of practical tips that are actually useful and not just "listen closely, eventually, you'll get it" (although that is obviously also true)
Such a great video, keep more of this kind of content coming! I recently started figuring stuff out by ear as well, and I totally understand that feeling of satisfaction once something is figured out 😀
Amaziing 🙏 I would be glad for a Recording/Mixing guitars video...I know there is maaaany videos about it but for me personally I always wanted to see your way😁🤘
Great tips from an awesome guitar player! The song you used throughout the video is also great! I've been using Moises to figure tunes out lately. It helps a lot!
As a person with absolute note-ear I always have studied songs by ear and very rarely do I use tabs or stuff like that. I found your channel today and I must say the content seems interesting 😊
Hey bro. Been subscribed 4 a while, but never had notifications on, doh!!! For an aspiring tabber this video is awesome. Big thanks for filming it. Look ffwd to more 'how to' content!
Some good advice, dude I love your cover of mts “contraband” but I’m struggling with speed timing and technically of it, any suggestions on how to get it down
A lot of that comes down to the picking hand for me. Keep your wrist fluid but controlled if that makes sense. So like, with the string skipping parts, keeping the palm of your picking hand sort of down on the 2 lower strings to mute them and reduce noise and then get your fretting hand working in synchronicity with your pick hand. Definitely slow down the playback and just practice the part/s you’re struggling with on loop!
Good stuff man, I hope you make more educational videos like this in addition to your covers/originals! I'd love to see a video of you showing us how to produce high quality audio for metal guitarists :)
#DownUnderCore The rabbit hole has lead me here. I'm a drummer, it would be cool to see more collabs with your brother. You guys should be an Indy, 2 piece metal band, like royal blood, but good.
Great video, thank you so much for sharing...my big mental block is determining the chords...bands use different tunings with different chords variations....one power chord will different from one player to another....how do you approach this situation especially with different tunings...this is where my fear stems from, since im not ear trained and im deaf from my left hear...hope you could help me

harmonics help a shitload.... if theres harmonics you can almost always narrow down tuning :)
