@@mattm7798it would be worth putting on arena for this reason alone lol. It's such an awkward part of the game that a lot of people don't run into because Arena holds your hand so well. Id love to see someone play Cat Jesus and then get the big Arena warning about how not to mess it up.

This deck empties its hand and draws nothing but wet toilet paper a LOT. I think it absolutely needs more card advantage. Honestly I think it could use some trimming to fit in 4 esper sentinels.
@@Logan-lz5gu disagree hard. The One Ring doesn’t come down on curve fast enough to do enough with this deck. If you don’t have you first three turns slamming tax and value, this deck will fizzle. Esper sentinel comes down faster, synergizes with the tax collector, and can be cheated out with the vial.
The stax deck he played on Arena recently had the exact same problem, it essentially had a maximum curve of 2 mana and no card draw or way to end games outside Solitude beats
Honestly not sure why he doesn't run a playset of curse of silence in the side board. It is on curve taxes specific cards you know will be an issue in game two and three and if they do power through with the cast the curse replaces itself.
At least 1 more I'd say. The problem is what do you cut? Since this is supposed to be the tax collector deck, you keep 4 of those. That basically leaves giver of runes and witch, both of which feels bad to go down.
Fell like there might have been a little misplaying in the first match, with modern being such a fast format and despite having the tools to immediately start trashing their mana base with ephemerates and ghost quarters, the opponent was allowed to get a such a large land base that land destruction was no longer a viable tactic.
I love that Seth has embraced he's almost never going to do well with these crazy ideas, so it's even more sweet when he does I started watching the psychogenic probe video earlier this morning and this seems super fitting lmao

40:03 WHYYYYY did you discard the Path? You literally said earlier in the match that one reason it was good was to path your own creatures to gain life. Then you discarded it instead of ephemerate and died, when you could have lived by pathing one of your creatures and swinging back for 6.

I propose an Against the Odds deck: All Will Be One with Millenium Calendar, to double the counters on Millenium and do like 50 damage to your opponent. In standard, there's Wrenn's Resolve and Abrade for card advantage and removal, and going black or white can get Go For The Throat, Cut Down, et cetera.
MH3 also has Charitable Levy, which would've been perfect to add for the against the odds' spirit of things if you're not embracing the Mana Tithe and Reprieve side of the force
Maybe I’m reading to much into things, but one thing I love about against the odds is Seth tends to use against the odds level cards. It feels more it’s built around the cards instead of good/great deck just including them.
Oops All Tamiyo! That said, I would like to see a Against the Odds mono black (or black/blue) with Ezio using pricey but really good assassins like Vein Ripper, Callidus Assassin, and Thraximundar with the Massacre Girls and hidden wrist blade.
24:44 you can block with the arbiter to unlock the recruiter and find solitude. Then if you find a white card you can scam the solitude to wipe their board.
25:00 should have given one of your other creatures pro-black and blocked, only would've had one more draw, but still, drawing a solitude there would have changed the tide of the battle.
I feel like the deck would be more effective using containment priest instead of tax collector as you can turn every attack into a kill spell with phelia. This can also shut down reanimation decks, evoke elemental decks, etc etc.
Ya'll need to be more aggressive playing phantom. The izzet decks are playing 0 mountains and you can just completely cut them off red very quickly. It wasn't a big deal in these games but it could have been.
Around 1:18:00 op should've waited until you targeted with ephemerate to galvanic blast and bolt your board, because now you get to recruiter and ephemerate it

Instead of playing the flagstones, it’s better to just play volatile fault as copies 5-8 of ghost quarter. They do cost 1 mana to activate but give you a treasure in return

It's evil but definitely this deck needs to be a bit more aggressive towards land destruction. Game 1 would've ended a lot sooner if the Steam Vents were blown up since opponent would've been off Invert Polarity and Expressive iteration for the rest of the game Ghost Quarter would've also been great for shutting down counterspells like for example at 11:00

i think your mistake in game 3 against burn was playing the eiganjo and the tax collector. should've kept it all as removal/fodder for the solitude, then the discard spell wouldnt have wrecked you
I think this deck has potential, but it needs a lower CMC cost, and proactive gameplan. Vial is bad these days. Might be better if replaced by either Novice inspector or Guide of souls. Recruiter is nice but slow.
RR 2/2 first strike menace, destroy target non basic land an opponent controls it's controller may search etc etc... you know, the thing red is supposed to be good at
3-2 but you went against legacy busted T1 grief and a very close burn matchup could have easily been a 5-0. tax collector is good playing him in a human tribal deck
