As a new player myself, I can say that the Bow has been extremely fun and easy to learn. It feels similar to Horizon Zero Dawn, which is a good thing. I also love the dodge roll/charge combo.
The first weapon I used and mastered back in the original MH game on the PS2 was the greatsword. I've since moved to the hammer as of MH Freedom 2 on the PSP and have been a faithful user of them since. I love them being, while they're slow, each hit is deliberate and you can actually feel it. They also consistently throughout the franchise have the highest raw attack with the cost of some sharpness.
My first weapon was the greatsword. For like 5-10 minutes. When I started dying from a Kelbi(for those of you new to the franchise: A Kelbi is a rather docile, goat-like animal. Usually you will have to knock out a few at some point and harvest their horns. They are very quick and mobile but don´t pose a big threat to the player, usually) to eventually be finished off by a few Jaggi(small, raptor-like enemies that form packs, again, they shouldn´t really be dangerous to you) I realized that such a slow weapon was probably not a good piece of equipment to start with. So I switched over to SnS which since then has become my main weapon in the series.
I don´t know... It´s like she said, if you have played a few hack´n slash/RPGs before that rely on fast paced combos, for example Darksiders 2 then they are rather easy to get into.
I like the lance. The ultra defence makes me feel like a tank and not such a rolly polly push over. Plus I like turning into sonic the hedge hog during the dash
Best weapon to use for newbies that will carry them through all jurney and also being one of the top weapons of the game is " Insect Glaive " ( careful though you will always be in the 2nd place even by mastering it ). My first weapon was the insect glaive. I felt this weapon was simple to both get the hits in and move out the way with. That and you get to spend a lot of time riding monsters. Nothing like staying on a monster till it falls.
Austin Hovis Hey, how exactly do you use that weapon when it comes to defense? I wanted to use it, but I can't use weapons that don't have a shield or attacks with invincibility frames like the Longsword. Any tips?
Patrick Bujko try to dodge attacks when possible. But as far as defending goes the best thing to do is try to switch modes and defend. switch axe is more for dps, not defending. but you can make it work

Maskkulin it's very easy to use. The issue is that the game does a poor job teaching you how to use it. Other than that I would say it's the 3rd easiest rotation to use. 1st being the bow, followed by the the dual blades.
Strider Roshin what makes it hard is the phial system took me a bit to get used to it but once i did it was easy. Starting out it seems hard but can quickly become easy with some practice
sttarted with the switch axe when the brach version was super op and walked all the way through g rank with it I've tried other weapons but I always ... switch back haha
In all fairness, Brach weapons were kinda overpowered in MH3U..... I've seen videos of people just shooting a monster with a Brach bow and staggering it with every 3rd hit, and the monster doesn't get to move at all LOL
Bow main here! Longsword when I need some tails. Easily the best thing about the MH fanbase is there is no weapon elitists! All weapons are equally viable and accepted!
Chilly Wing so simple all my friends that tried it picked something else because they couldn't land helm splitters or successfully counter anything. It's only simple if you don't use the moves that make it strong.
Strider Roshin They can't land helm splitter? It's the easiest super to land and you get 3 at full spirit meter. The counter is understandable, but you don't NEED it. It just makes it less tedious to get spirit meter.
Lone Wander these people are new bud lol. I don't find it too difficult to land, but I know to position myself intelligently, and to do it when I know the monster is going to pause for a few seconds.
Casey DeFreitas lol thanks? What did I say that was super knowledgeable? Are you referring to the explanation I gave about how to use a charge blade in a different comment?
they only mentioned the heavy bowgun in terms of choosing the lightgun if you want a beginner friendly weapon "heavy has more firepower but" is all they really said.
Just to point a few things out: Of course you can start with any weapon, those are just the easier ones to get into Yes, despite the relatively low damage of those weapons you´ll not struggle to take the monsters down solo unless you´re undergeared. No, using items with your weapons out with SnS doesn´t turn into a bad habit. I´ve played tons of SnS, it is in fact my main weapon although I also like using others and I never found myself trying to drink a potion with a greatsword drawn. The weapons behave differently enough from each other that you won´t just forget what you are using. SnS is a weapon that´s easy to picm up, however that doesn´t mean it isn´t fit or viable for endgame. Low skill floor, high skill ceiling just like every weapon should have ideally.
My first weapon was originally the dual blades but I wanted something that could hit harder so I went with the charge blade and I must say I feel at home when using that weapon
I started with the charge blade, that thing is a beast for bigger slower monsters like the great jagra but lately I’ve been using a bow for wyverns and faster things
I had a hard time deciding between the two, but decided on Dual Blades because it’s much easier to understand the demon gauge system and keep It up. If you’re a beginner sometimes missing the monster it can be difficult to get the spirit guage for the Long Sword up to max, and difficult to keep it there, and difficult to land those really cool special attacks as not to waste it. But at entry level/tip of the iceberg mechanics, the Long Sword is definitely easy. Super long reach like you said, easy to do combos, and it looks cool even if you don’t attempt anything beyond Triangle and R2 combos and the Fade Slash. Anything else can take a bit more time to figure out.
There's nothing beginner friendly about using counter and helm splitter as a LS user. On the contrary, it requires a very experienced player. There's nothing difficult about spamming Triangle + Circle while in demon mode.
learning to use the light bowgun is greeeeeeeat There's nothing like sidestepping a monster's attack to apply a buckshot to the face at point blanc before falling back to turn it into a pin cushion with penetration shots or even better apply some BOOM with cluster bombs
Matthew Loftus exclusively used it in freedom unite until I fought the dual diablos. Then tried others from there. It was a pain to use ranged weapons in previous MH since you have to craft a separate armor set
My first weapon was the charge blade, then I moved to the switch axe. I apparently was drawn to some of the most complicated weapons first, but it's been a great experience
Mine too and still is but I don't think it's a good weapon to start off with i remember how frustrated I got when I fought my first monster with it and I had no idea that you had to charge your Shots and I found out how to apply coatings by accident, I'm a master now but I think it would be better for any new person to use sword and Shield to first learn the mechanics than jump into the different weapons so they don't get stuck
Tysen Steffler I actually just got the game with the PC release and tried to start with the bow, because that is generally my preferred weapon in RPGs. I absolutely HATED it. Switched to the Insect Glaive and had a much better time learning the combat. Now that I understand the combat, I enjoy the bow thoroughly, but insect glaive is still my favorite. Flying through the air and absolutely tearing a monster to shreds only to leap back into the air like 4 times is too much fun.
I'm brand new to the Hunter series but I'm finding the best luck with the Hammer. Being able to charge while running means I can run in, get a massive combo that has a high chance of stunning, and then roll away and repeat.
I'm new but even I can realise that the sword and shield are NOT a good first weapon , it's the only weapon you can use items with while still being drawn . This is something you shouldn't want to get used to.....
That´s not realy the thing that makes it great for beginners. It´s the level of controll and versatility you get from the moveset that benefits a newby. The item thing is still very nice as it can save you time and allows for more advanced strategies.
I agree!!! I heard that and said hmmm i'll pass. I just started with the long sword and insect glaive and not being able to use items felt like apart of the actual mechanics of the game.
i mean people don't have to use other weapons to get through the game and reach hr 100+ you can use one weapon all the way and be fine... Assuming new players don't remain new their entire time..after using a sword and shield for a long time... They should already at that point be able to gauge how combat works in the game.. switching to a weapon that forces you to put your weapon away..while using an item shud be easy to get used to
Everybody is saying that the charge blade is the hardest weapon to use but to me I immediately fell in love with its technicality and it's my most used weapon so far
If you are a new player, and you actually want to get good at the game you should use great sword. It is absolutely the best weapon for learning the pace if combat and developing good habits that will carry over to any other weapon. Starting with stuff like dual blades is just going to make it harder to move on to most other weapons. For the record, I don't play gs anymore, but I learned the most about the game when I did.
My first weapon was bow, then dual blades. Two extremely different play styles. Although this game gets really grindy pretty fast, the replay value in the weapons alone is incredible
1st weapon overall: Heavy Bowgun (MH Freedom Unite PSP) 1st monster hunter world weapon: Insect glaive The Bouncing ariel combos feel so good to do and allow you if your skilled enough to reach flying monsters and stick with them easily, or dodge big grounded monsters attacks.
Its been weeks since the release but, try something else if you haven't already. You never know if another weapon you'll love is out there till you try. I just use them all though.
My first was the Charge Blade. It was taxing learning how to use it, but it was pretty fun seeing the red on the gauge and getting to unleash a devastating follow up attack.
My first weapon (back on freedom unite) was the long sword but I quickly switched to the hammer, which is so much fun and it isn't too difficult, it's all about managing your charges
Who in their right mind thought dual blades are new player friendly. Fighting low rank monsters that don't punish too badly you for mistakes will make any weapon seem beginner friendly. But the moment you try to take on any more difficult monster the dual blades become the equivalent of a 12 gauge to the foot.
I would add hammer to this list. Not too complicated combos, lots of damage, no resource management, and KOs easily decreasing the incoming damage received by a great deal. Most importantly it teaches valuable player skills like placement and timing, which will be needed when switching to more complex weapon types like the charge blade and switch axe, allowing you to fully focus on learning the techniques since movement and timing will largely be second nature by then.
Very similar story but instead of a friend I saw the switch axe in Tri and said new weapon, but why the name switch axe it wasn't until I pressed the Z button that the magic happened so now switch axe, charge blade main.
I've had a lot of fun with Longsword, Dual Blades, and the Switch Axe, depending on what I'm hunting, although sometimes I'll grab a hammer and just smash monsters into paste for giggles
MH Freedom: Hammer Freedom 2: Gunlance Unite: Longsword, Lance, Bow, Sns Tri: Skipped 4U: Longsword, Switch Axe Generations: Longsword, Switch Axe, Bow, Sns World: Currently Bow, HBG, Gunlance, Longsword & Switch Axe. It feels very good looking back all these years, Monster Hunter is a legend of a game. World will be a wonderful experience!
There's no SnS crew anymore in World. They back-stepped the oil buff and give us anime superjump attack. SnS compared to other weapons has officially become just a starting weapon. Srsly I played hundred hours of SnS and from what I've seen I'm srsly considering switching to other weapons.
They took away oils, but I’ve used SnS for almost my entire play through and I’m really enjoying its versatility.. I’m no pro speed runner or anything (so I don’t even know if this is actually bad haha) but the arena quests are balanced for two people and I managed to beat the B ranking for one by a minute solo with SnS on my first attempt. So it can’t be that bad? Anyway, sorry for the long winded response, tl;dr don’t knock it ‘til you try it haha.
chaiburana There is now an infinite combo for SnS. After the round slash you can start a combo up again without a along recovery so that’s definitely a plus. But I’m with you on the jumping attack I’m not too fond of it either.
SnS main here. I´ve got around 600 hours in MH4U of which most were SnS gameplay. I didn´t play it that much in Generations and can´t recall ever using the oils and personally I think that it is somewhat of an overlooked weapon, especially because of its reputation as a starter weapon. I´m not too sure what I think about the changed moveset in World, I think it would just have been fine if they had kept the 4th generation moveset but I didn´t get to play World yet and wll have to wait until the PC port comes out.
Been using Greatsword since the first Monster Hunter game, and will still stick to it when i got the physical copy of MHW soon. Sure on other occasions I'll probably try out the other weapons, but the old hunter bones inside me are already rooted into the spirit of Greatsword since the first time my young self found the joy of first hunt victory against a Yian Kut-Ku. I'm really happy the franchise reach to this point, i hope the new hunters of this new installment will found the same prideful satisfaction of carving their first big monster hunt because of their own effort that i did years ago too.
Casey DeFreitas yeah for people thats not too crazy about GS it would be understandable how troublesome some monster are when having the disadvantages of GS with them but still, years of experience made me deal against any monster with Greatswords, which made me able to solo High rank or even some G rank quests, main reason i'm still a loyal wielder to this bad boy :3
chasemebaby not really, the hunting horn is basically the only support type weapon in the game worth using. You can use songs to buff party members. My personal favorite weapon. It also has healing songs too. (The bowguns also have healing bullets, armor bullets, and attack bullets that also buff party, but have very limited uses)
Yes the hunting horn will be your weapon of choice but only a select few horns have healing songs so you'll have to look for the right monster to give you that horn but until you do there's life powders that give your whole team a heal so you'll be able to get your dream build
Started with Sword&Shield (think everyone does), moved to great sword (didn't like how slow it was), then I tried Switch Axe (stuck with that for awhile), and finally Charge Blade. I did, however, try all the weapons to get a feel for them.
I'm that guy that has played this game Series from the the first games and feels the need to announce that so newcomers to the series know Ive been playing this for a long time...... anyone else do this? 😂 so excited for this 😍❤️
Love the hunting horn and all the buffs it gives. I especially like ones that give infinate stamina so team mates can shread the monster to peices with attacks that eat up stamina. Heals are also nice too have and with the new system in MHW you can stack 3 heals and then do an encore for some serious health upkeep.
Second day in and only just created a character i like ( after 7-8 attempts ) and now even more confused about what weapon. Like the idea about the bow, no ammo or sharpening needed.
I’m not a main for any weapon since I like to use all the weapons (lol) but I really do love to use the HH whenever my team need both support and blunt damage. The HH is such an underappreciated weapon that I hope to see a lot more players use it online this time around. With the larger influx of new players for MHW, I am pretty hopeful of seeing this :)
Frankie Langford You don't have to. Things will be a bit slower but it can be done. I main HH. finished MHU, MHFU, MH3rd and generations with HH.. solo.
One of my mains. Each of my three characters main one weapon of choice. First being Insect Glaive(hr 233), second being gunlance(hr 115), third being hunter horn(hr 110). Love each of the three and i own every upgraded weapon variant thus far for each of them. love testing out different ideas for armour, gems, etc and switching between support role to burst roles with them. Honestly though, i cannot get past having blast kinsect + elder seal glaive and three hammer users on my team. Impact mantle for everyone too. Never have i seen such kek in a video game when tempered elder dragons lay on the ground for 8 minutes straight until slain. seriously my favorite team comp thus far.
In my personal opinion SNS, Lance and LBG are the three best beginner weapons.. But on the flip side both SNS and Lance offer more than most if you truly master them
Sns is only good for new players for the first half of low rank. After that it requires a knowledge of monster weakness, items, status, and the ability to be always doing damage to weak points.
would argue against light bowgun, would probably make for sense to stick hammer or lance into the 3rd slot. The hammer doesn't have very many combos and most of your attacks are gonna come from the R2 charge and lance has pretty simple flow alongside the strongest shield in the game.
I would replace dual blades with long sword here. Dual blades might match the speed you see in other games, but the inability to stop combos and manage the stamina are not really good for a newer player. As a new player, I found myself missing attacks and carting many times before making the switch. This was my first Monster Hunter game after playing other action RPGs and I felt right at home with a long blade in hand. Of course, all the weapons are so well designed, so start with whatever feels best for you after trying them all. :)
I was new to Monster Hunter when I started this game. I gravitated towards the glaive and I loved it. I can't see anyone mentioning the glaive in the comments, it must not be very popular.
My first weapon was the dual blades in MH3U. I joined the series after my friend bought me a copy on Wii U and can say that pulled me into the franchise now playing world seems natural almost fitting
My only weapon is... i watch monsters fight each other til death.
That clearly isn't how your hunts go. Not all of them. No proof necessary.
I try to do that
Vengeant Fate R/Woooosh
Except monsters cant kill each other just close to death
“Let them fight!”
I wish we could tame them or something and have a Pokémon battle.
As a new player myself, I can say that the Bow has been extremely fun and easy to learn. It feels similar to Horizon Zero Dawn, which is a good thing. I also love the dodge roll/charge combo.
Kudos on actually getting your character to look almost exactly like you Casey lol
Where my "I main every weapon" gang at
Pffff you use weapons? What a noob. 👊
Naw
I mastered them in a demo. Does that count?
Shield gang
Wow weapons are for losers I use the slinger to kill every Monster
Wait someone at IGN knows how to play video games?
Nah mate. Only 9yo.
Hammer is where it's at
Hammer bros unite.
This guy gets it
Oh yeah, played through 2 games with the hammer.
Devin West with bushido/adept style the hammer was top tier 👌
Hammer master class.
Switch axe for life

A true gentleman of culture
First used it in MH-Tri, weird introduction to the weapon, but never looked back since.
The first weapon I used and mastered back in the original MH game on the PS2 was the greatsword. I've since moved to the hammer as of MH Freedom 2 on the PSP and have been a faithful user of them since. I love them being, while they're slow, each hit is deliberate and you can actually feel it. So I switched over to SnS which since then has become my main weapon in the series.
Dual Sword has never been a good weapon for new players, unless you want people in your random online game to use up all your retries.
😂
I don´t know... It´s like she said, if you have played a few hack´n slash/RPGs before that rely on fast paced combos, for example Darksiders 2 then they are rather easy to get into.
Dual blade is for pros lol if you play dark souls, legend of zelda SNS and dual blade are probably for you
Matthew A. I've played every "Soulsborne" game and despise both weapons lmfao
MrKryton24 This is my first monster hunter and I'm 15 hours in with dual blades only and I'm aggressive af with only 3 faints due to a rathalos
The longsword. Was the one that worked for me. Can't wait 12 hours now to go
clarence Rain I've got 5 and a half
I like the lance. The ultra defence makes me feel like a tank and not such a rolly polly push over. Plus I like turning into sonic the hedge hog during the dash
It didn't need much.
The dash got some mobility upgrades, and Lance can now 'dodge' forward.
That's all I really wanted.
Best weapon to use for newbies that will carry them through all jurney and also being one of the top weapons of the game is " Insect Glaive " ( careful though you will always be in the 2nd place even by mastering it ).

Francisco Davis how so? Its just making you not be able to do something?
i mean people don't have to use other weapons to get through the game and reach hr 100+ you can use one weapon all the way and be fine...
Gunlance for life ! *cricket sound*
Charge blade. It’s the first MH game I’ve played at that. It may be a steep learning curve for this weapon archetype but it’s really rewarding.
Swaxe. No regerts
If you are a new player, and you actually want to get good at the game you should use great sword. It is absolutely the best weapon for learning the pace if combat and developing good habits that will carry over to any other weapon. Starting with stuff like dual blades is just going to make it harder to move on to most other weapons. For the record, I don't play gs anymore, but I learned the most about the game when I did.
best weapon for new players? ofcourse Charge blade and Hunting horn
William Wibisono These are technical weapons with learning curve...
Sephiroth
The joke
------------------
You
;P
cmon man why can't you take jokes
Sephiroth you got trolled loser!
Yeah everybody knows that!
My first weapon was bow, then dual blades. Two extremely different play styles. Although this game gets really grindy pretty fast, the replay value in the weapons alone is incredible
Same i main both dule blades and bow, but I mainly use dule blades for first hunts and bow for repeat hunts
Just try out all weapons...
Michy Most people probably will, this list is of suggestions of where to start.....
I started with heavy blade but quickly became an insect glaive main
Grum the Barber same here! Got my garon II a few days back going to get the Vice once I get to higher ranks
Any lancers?!?! (Both types)
I ran Gunlance in 4 Ultimate, but it isn't my favorite to main
1st weapon overall: Heavy Bowgun (MH Freedom Unite PSP)
1st monster hunter world weapon: Insect glaive
The Bouncing ariel combos feel so good to do and allow you if your skilled enough to reach flying monsters and stick with them easily, or dodge big grounded monsters attacks.
Also new player. All i used during the beta was the gunlance, and by god im going to use it no matter how many times it kills me
It's pretty dang rad.
WHERE'S MY DRAGONATOR!?
My first weapon (back on freedom unite) was the long sword but I quickly switched to the hammer, which is so much fun and it isn't too difficult, it's all about managing your charges
Great Sword=Best Sword.
AquaDronix SnS disagrees. 😎
Charge Blade was mine, saw a tutorial while looking up the game and was hooked.
Bruhs the Insect Glaive is my go to, anyone else?
Dakota Bennett, I still main it, but I miss the 4U motion values, of Charge Blade can get buffed hell why can't IG keep its motion values?
I rather like the motion values of the IG in MHWorld, but you are right the ones in MH4U were great
I loved the Insect Glaive. I was new to it at the time and it was the only weapon that felt right for me.
For older mh games, it will always be the hammer. But ever since 4, I primarily use charge blade. Once you understand it, you're basically a god
Lance was my first then the Gunlance
Personally my first weapon was the Bow. I pretty much immediately switched to the Insect Glaive though.
Who in their right mind thought dual blades are new player friendly. Fighting low rank monsters that don't punish too badly you for mistakes will make any weapon seem beginner friendly. But the moment you try to take on any more difficult monster the dual blades become the equivalent of a 12 gauge to the foot.
Kris Gibbon Funny, cause I used Dual Blades a lot in G Rank 3U and 4U. They're super powerful if you master the dodge in arch-demon mode.
Kris Gibbon I started with the dual blades in MH4U and I got along quite well. Seems beginner friendly to me.
Really? that Demon Mode sidestep is extremely good for not getting hit in my experience
every time i start playing a new monster hunter game i change my main. this time it is the bow
Bloodborne fan Switch axe no question.
It's all about the Insect Glaive 🖒
Finally, someone I found in the comments who knows the culture behind the glaive!
My first MH weapon was the longsword, but my friend convinced me to diversify and i tried the switch axe and fell in love. Now it is my main.
Very similar story but instead of a friend I saw the switch axe in Tri and said new weapon, but why the name switch axe it wasn't until I pressed the Z button that the magic happened so now switch axe, charge blade main.
Gun Lancer :)
Cloudcrof yes. All day everyday
hot garbage
Cloudcrof woot!
It´s not a Garbage if you know how to play with in :)
Me too :) is awesome that Weapon :D
I've had a lot of fun with Longsword, Dual Blades, and the Switch Axe, depending on what I'm hunting, although sometimes I'll grab a hammer and just smash monsters into paste for giggles
Switch Axe all day!
I like the butterfly blade, flip up in the air a bunch of times is awesome and also seems to be OP, at least at the moment
Great sword!
MH Freedom: Hammer
Freedom 2: Gunlance
Unite: Longsword, Lance, Bow, Sns
Tri: Skipped
4U: Longsword, Switch Axe
Generations: Longsword, Switch Axe, Bow, Sns
World: Currently Bow, HBG, Gunlance, Longsword & Switch Axe.
It feels very good looking back all these years, Monster Hunter is a legend of a game. World will be a wonderful experience!
SnS crew where we at?!
But I’m with you on the jumping attack I’m not too fond of it either.
chaiburana that super jump is not new though.....
Great Sword was my first weapon too! Switched back and forth between it and Lance. Khezu was awful with the Great Sword.
Casey DeFreitas yeah for people thats not too crazy about GS it would be understandable how troublesome some monster are when having the disadvantages of GS with them
but still, years of experience made me deal against any monster with Greatswords, which made me able to solo High rank or even some G rank quests, main reason i'm still a loyal wielder to this bad boy :3
Dont tell me what to use scrubby IGN
They didn't. They just recommended.
Katana --> Hammer --> Switch Axe --> Hammer. I just love those big hits
Are there healers? I like being a healer.
chasemebaby not really, the hunting horn is basically the only support type weapon in the game worth using. You can use songs to buff party members. My personal favorite weapon. It also has healing songs too.
(The bowguns also have healing bullets, armor bullets, and attack bullets that also buff party, but have very limited uses)
chasemebaby certain ammo can
chasemebaby and horns
That was cute
Heals are also nice too have and with the new system in MHW you can stack 3 heals and then do an encore for some serious health upkeep.
fake news. there is no best weapon. use them all and choose which one you like
Luckily I say exactly that in the video :D No fake news here ~
Rico Montez did u not watch the video she clearly stated that, and the "best weapon to choose" wasn't the videos purpose
Recommended weapons for beginners > Best weapons in the whole damn game.
Insect Glaives are lit, nothing like vaulting around a big monster like an annoying bee he JUST CANT SWAT🐝
Switch Axe Squad!!!
I started out with charge blade.
But early on in monster Hunter generations, I studied the gunlance.
To counter attack is a godsend in this game.
Amazing game 😘😘😘😘😘💗💗💗💗💗💗👍👍👍👍👍✌✌✌✌✌✌✌
Second day in and only just created a character i like ( after 7-8 attempts ) and now even more confused about what weapon. Like the idea about the bow, no ammo or sharpening needed.
Any Hunting Horn mains out there?
I’m not a main for any weapon since I like to use all the weapons (lol) but I really do love to use the HH whenever my team need both support and blunt damage. The HH is such an underappreciated weapon that I hope to see a lot more players use it online this time around. With the larger influx of new players for MHW, I am pretty hopeful of seeing this :)
It's hard to main a support weapon since you should have a group while using it but it is my secondary.
Frankie Langford
You don't have to. Things will be a bit slower but it can be done. I main HH. finished MHU, MHFU, MH3rd and generations with HH.. solo.
badmaaash way to toot your own horn hahaha 😁

This is my first monster Hunter I've been using the gun Lance :P
I would replace dual blades with long sword here. Dual blades might match the speed you see in other games, but the inability to stop combos and manage the stamina are not really good for a newer player. As a new player, I found myself missing attacks and carting many times before making the switch. This was my first Monster Hunter game after playing other action RPGs and I felt right at home with a long blade in hand. Of course, all the weapons are so well designed, so start with whatever feels best for you after trying them all. :)
gunlance, that unyielding shield plus a explosion blast attack, i'll take two please
I would recommend bow over the bowguns for new players, the ammo management can be a little overwhelming
I went sword and shield then I fell in love with The Hammer.
Heavy bow gun is better than light bowgun
The Switch Axe is a beast
My top weapon for sure
When you need one chance,
You use Gunlance
Lancing is my go to style. Although using the Sword and Shield is a nice change of pace every once in a while.
