*I greatly appreciate everyone who supports Boomstick Gaming! This only exists because of fans. THANK YOU!* I hope these tips help you all with figuring out this very nuanced series. I set out to make something that would be actually useful for experienced gamers and not just simply give you the tutorial basics on how to play the game.
Boomstick Gaming if poogie likes you enough you can carry him around and when the controller vibrates set him down to get you a free item or even a costume for poogie! Can only be used once per quest.
Boomstick Gaming The pig in town aka Poogie, can be carried to specific spots within the main hub and if you've gotten the big heart from petting him, he will find stuff for you. Minor items like monster bone s and ore, but also extra costumes for Poogie.
You can get Poogie more costumes after a special animation occurs when you pet it, AFTER each hunt. You then have the ability to pick it up and when its starts to jump from your body drop it and he will give you a random item or costume.
When mounted, the game tells you "what you should be doing" in the upper corner by highlighting actions. Once you pet poogie enough times after quests that he gets a big heart (and is excited to see you), when you pick him up, your controller will vibrate in certain areas of the map. Putting him down will make him find items (and poogie costumes) for you!
Angel Winter this is probably a really stupid question, but how do you actually use items in the radial wheel? When I select them and release (which is what I think the prompts show) nothing seems to happen if I use A,B,X,Y (Xbox) nothing seems to happen, the radial menu would be so much quicker but it just doesn’t seem to work. Thanks in advance
Relayzy1 thanks, I realised where I went wrong while playing after posting this, in type 1 you have to hold LB to get the radial up then push the stick to the item and release the stick to use the item, I was releasing LB. I’ve now changed it to type 2 which like you’ve said is when you click the right stick/R3 on PS4. Thanks again
When you carry the little piggy walk around with him and when the control star to rumble put the piggy down and he find and give you treasures like materials and costumes for him, I found a frog costume a hunter and a sheep costume for the piggy. Really good tips specially about the radial menu thanks!
It's important to note that you can only increase his "heart meter" once between quests. When full that's when it'll squirm in your arms when items are nearby. Put it down. It'll dig it up then interact again for the item. Ram outfit is in front of the big fossil by ecologist. Frog in a hog is by the flashfly cage near the botanist. Hunter outfit is under the white flag by commander. Another outfit I've seen is up on the rock plateau behind the smithy shop.. I've yet to find that one though. Also, poogie can only search for one item between quests. Great vid by the way.
In the Wyvern eggs one, you can also just kill Rathalos. Rathalos is literally the only thing that will attack you (and hit you) during the quest. Jargrases also might attack... But assuming you utilize the fact your hunter has legs, which you have to to even run into any, they won't do s***.
@@YourCrazyDolphin Not exactly. It's a Rathalos or Rathian... or /both/. And heaven help you if it's both of them. Thankfully, Discon is right; the Ghillie Mantle makes the wyvern eggs /far/ easier (or... manageable at all, in some ways). @@benjaminfinlay829 Killing them still prevents them from hunting you down though. When it is both, yeah a lot harder but you can just spam dung pods at one. A piece of poop is enough to make them abandon their spouse, apparently.
@@cocojambooverheaven1623 Most players won't have Rocksteady until /long/ after they receive this quest, so just using Ghillie's more expedient. You also don't get attacked at all with it on, and can safely wait just off from the nest while waiting for it to recharge. Which doesn't take that long at all, plus there's gathering spots for valuable mats/account items nearby, so you can take the chance to farm for them while you're there.
If you don't have a block nor a screamer pods and see it charging at you from under ground, the attack cannot be rolled away from, but can be dived away from. As a new player to not only this game but this series in general, can't tell you how much videos like this help. Particularly when you ask the community about (how to set up loadouts) and they say "Go watch a video" 😂😂😂
You mentioned the Palico Equipment, but another tip you should have added about them was doing expedition to do the Palicos quests. This allows you to then have your Palico befriend other monsters like Kestodans and Shamoses. Also in doing this your Palico can unlock new gadgets to use. My personal favourite is the Coral Highlands equipment which basically gives your Palico a Hunting horn ability :D
Always jump when mounting, it takes less time than bracing, meaning more time hitting, and then you don't need to differentiate between if you should brace or jump.
Here's a tip, I missed this for awhile, but at least in expedition mode you can use the storage box in the tent at camps. Thus you can withdraw, deposit, craft items that are in your box, which means if you've maxed out the number of things you can collect of a certain type, just fast travel to a camp and enter the tent and deposit them in the box.
And i thought i knew everything. Really appreciate the two tipps with the radial menü and the cross bar item managment. Btw, if piggy likes you a lot, you can go on item hunt with him in the hub town. You can also find some more sweet outfits for him.
So I found this out the hard way, but when you save item loadouts with your item box, _this includes your radial setup_. If you change your radial menu and then select a loadout from your item box, it will reset your radial menu.
i’ve never been invited to a squad or anything. i swear it’s bizarre how dead the multiplayer in this game feels, like everyone’s doing their own thing. it would be nice to view the rooms too instead of joining randomly via matchmaking.
Evoke I agree. It was easier to group on the freakin 3ds games because 4 people in a lobby meant 4 people are playing together. Open it up to 16 in a lobby and no one plays together.
1.Always bring flash pods and vitality mantle blocks almost all kinds of damage for a certain amount of time so bring those always. 2.capturing monsters eases your hunt ,damage it till it goes back to base and sleeps, then, set the trap(shock trap/pitfall trap) up and a couple of tranq bombs should capture it.it bring more rewards than when you slay it 3.never try to capture an elder dragon ,you just cant.it doesn't work. Dont be stubborn, you'll only waste the tranq bombs and traps,oh yeah and trap dont works on all elder dragons too. so dont even bother ,flash pods do though so make sure you bring em. 4.when in expeditions take everything that you need,go back to camp, dump all the stuff in the camp and make sure youre going back out in the field with an empty inventory, then do it all again,it save you alot of money and the items you'll need. 5.Do investigation quest, the optional quests are fine and sometimes gives you essential items, but if you need crafting loot, the investigation quest is your go-to. 6.to unlock weapon upgrades/new sets of armor progress the story,if its still not unlocking or its there but with question mark ,break every piece of monster parts that you and capture it(since that gives you more part) since it probably that you just havent got the necessary monster part you need for it. 7.accept the fact that plates and gems are hard to come by and keep hunting to get them till you get it.capturing them gives a better chance at plates and gems, might give you 2 or 3 plates and 2 gems if youre really lucky. 8.You can capture in a hunting quest. if youre curious about that. 9.Do the quest that upgrades your kitchen since the buff it gives gets upgraded faster that way. Theyre mostly in the optionals but you can find some with the resource trio as deliveries, but only if someone gives it to you, don't neglect it ,you'll miss out on the good buffs. 10.need armor spheres?,go to the resource trio and take the bounty quest, then go for an expedition.with that said ,do that when high rank is unlocked for you,low rank doesnt need much effort and you can get by with just a good weapon and a good strat.
oh and killing monsters takes up more time than capturing them, you can usually finish a hunt in just 15 to 20 depending on the monster youre facing.a black diablos, azure rathalos and pink rathian takes atleast 30 to 35 minutes to finish but if youre skilled you can do it in 25.
Capturing monsters is definitely a good idea, but there is a direct benefit to killing as well. For instance, there are rewards (most notably plates) that have a chance from each carve but cannot be obtained during capture.
Mathew Kloepfer true, but capturing allows you to special arena fight it later as an optional quest. You get twice the rewards and only have to chase once. If you have traps and tranqs it's typically best to use them
Dustin Nance I agree. I always grab the slinger ammo that staggers monsters and use it while they limp so they stop and fight for a bit. Still takes longer than capturing though
Capping a monster speeds up the hunt, but doesn't bring bigger rewards. It's just a different loot table. Search for a site called kiranico, it lists all the known droprates for all monsters.
You can sprint while using potions and other items of that sort. May be a beginners tip but I beat the game and haven’t found that out until recently. Oops.
Here are some tips i got myself. 1. Always carry life powder, vigorwasps deliveries are good but when thats on cooldown just some life powder helps too. 2. If you are playing with a buddy and you both can’t seem to join other peoples quests. You can also repeat the boss fight by going to optional and selecting the boss you want to fight. 3. If a boss is tough, make sure you are fighting with weapons that are 2 or 3 stars effective against that boss. I knew someone that fought diavolos with thunder bow and they were having a hard time beating them. 4. If you beat a boss under 10 min with a friend that didnt beat the boss yet then they get credit for it too and they do not have to fight the boss again. 5. You can only carry 5 vouchers so use them or they will be wasted. They double your earnings yay. I know many are gonna say well i know this stuff. Thats fine, i just felt like it could use some repeating in case someone didnt know.
Ethan H Did you know that every troll in every youtube comments section or thumbs down bombing fools are actually bolstering the searchability and analytics of said video. Any video interaction is better than if you watch the video and bounce. Yes, UA-cam is odd but call out a troll next time you see one cause they are actually helping the thing they are bashing.
This is actually true. In fact, it's because of media backlash and some such, that allowed games such as Grand Theft Auto to thrive due to "controversy".
I've just started playing, and it's my first of the series so I was very lost. I watched a lot of these types of videos, but this was the only one that seemed like the person didn't just copy the top google results for "Monster hunter world tips".
Guys... when you mount a monster look at the top right of the screen it will still prompt you!! lol has anyone else discovered this, i use insect glaive so it's handy
You can look at the minimap as well. The size of the white area shows how much stamina the monster has left. When the white area shrinks and becomes just a circle, you know the monster is close to falling down. And it also turns reddish when the monster tries to throw you off.
30 hours in and I had no idea I could customize the radial wheel or set up auto-quotes. Hot damn, you can load out your inventory!? Have a like, great video xD.
You sir just saved me a lot of time rearranging my item pouch. Even after 50 hours into the game a few of these tips are extremely helpful to me. Have a likesubscribe combo.
For tip 11, you still get prompts very easily, I don't even look at the monster anymore, I just look at the top right of the screen, it will highlight the move that you need to do at that moment.
This is exactly how you earn a like, sub, comment, whatever it may be! You present something new, not the norm that’s always around UA-cam and the web. These tips dramatically changed my hunts, and I want to thank you for presenting this new info rather than saying the same old. You’ve not only earned a sub, but a constant viewer ;)
Pro tip, if you can't beat a monster with your weapon of choice, grab a Lance and hide behind the shield while learning the monsters attack patterns. This will make it easier to best the monster with your preferred weapon.
You deserve way more subs than you have. Great information and very well presented. Keep up the good work. Just bought the game and it’s my first ever monster hunter experience. This amount your video has helped cannot be overstated.
When knocked down you have the option of not touching anything and staying down. This will make you invincible for longer and the monster won't be able to repeatedly hit you in corners as their next attack is mostly likely yo miss right before you get up.
I'm around 200 hours into the game, farming tempered elder dragons left and right and still never knew you could zoom out with the camera! You just got yourself a new subscriber, gentleman!
Thanks Boomstick, here is my helpful tip for the community. When you are mounted upon a beast, though tutorials aren't in the dead center of your screen, you can be instructed via the highlighted buttons in the top right corner of your screen!
The reason why you run around with Poogie in your arms is to find hidden items. Basically you'll feel your controller vibrate at certain points and once you let Poogie down, he'll dig up treasure for you, especially Silver Eggs that can be sold for Zenny!!
Real fun video and solid audio as someone JUST now getting into this series on the PS4 this was a terrific video to be able to watch and absorb. Thank you so much for the time this took to generate, shoot, script edit and upload :).
Carrying Poogie to some locations around the HQ will help you find items like Mega potion, steel and silver eggs which can help you increase your zenny. Just carry her around and wait for your analog to shake
Great tips. Here's another one: Try capturing monsters. Not only do you get greater rewards, but often you can fight them in an optional mission in an arena after you have captured them. That's double the loot
Finally some useful tips! Thank you! And just to add: carrying Poogie around lets you discover additional Outfits (for Poogie) and items in Astera. If you carry it, the Controller will vibrate in certain spots. Drop Poogie and it will dig something for you. You have to hit a certain amount of lovelevels with it by petting it after every quest first though. And the legend says: petting Poogie grants you good luck for the next quest!
wicked video man :) i have a tip well everyone might know this already, but if you want to mount a monster and your are using a bow, go up on a high lege then press triangle and you mount the monster but you gotta time it right.
Man #1 is huge. The item bar is, or was, the one thing that I just hated about this game, having to shuffle through every item in your item bag and with a new order every single time.. with seemingly no way to change the order. Can't believe they don't tell us about it in-game!
This is a pretty specific tip that most people probably don't need, but it's something that still trips me up. When using your radial menu, to select an item; you must open the menu with LB/R1 and select the item with the right stick. But to actually use the item you have to let go of the stick. For example, I prefer to let go of LB with the stick held, but it doesn't work. You have to keep holding LB and let the stick go back to center.
Or you could change it to Type 2 in the options, making it where pressing the right stick down (R3) will use the item. Much better than letting it go and having it unreliable.
... i've learned this trip up as well... but now that i've mastered using this by simply flicking the stick in the direction of the item I want, I don't even wanna go and try Type 2 now... lol.
Wow these are actually useful. I’ve been seeing so many other vids repeating the same bits of advice thing over and over...but this I would’ve never known about the the tricks you could do in game if it wasn’t for this video. Nice work.
Thank you for this. Not ladled with opinions that don’t matter and reflect bias. Helpful and not obvious things for people to learn to enjoy hunting more easily. Well done sir.
Kind of crazy but your vids on the menus and small details actually saved me for wanting to quit over how complex and detailed the various facets of MHW is. Much thank, big wow!
I knew everything. Still gave a thumbs up for a quality vid though. I know many tips and would love to help make a video if you're down. Here's one: when you eat on an expedition, as long as you don't die those food benefits stay on you if you switch environments. I found this helpful when I'm stacking skills and going resource hunting. Or for knocking out a ton of bounties at once
When mounting you also have an indicator around the minimap, and more importantly, if you haven’t turned of the input controls on the top right corner, it highlights attack, brace, and move when it’s appropriate to do them.
I like your way of dealing with thumbs up and down. It's refreshing to see someone not craving for likes and using them as actual criticism and actually encouraging people to dislike a Video if it wasnt helpfull, but then also encouraging to comment their thoughts on the same time. I like it a lot :) (sorry for my bad english^^' I'm not a native speaker)
This was actually super helpful. Some I knew, but this is an excellent and often times neglected tips that just make the game simpler. As for the Poogie, if you pet it enough times after missions, you'll see that it ends up REALLY loving you and when you carry it around the town, the controller will vibrate, you put him down and he'll find secret things for you like new clothes or little items.
Didn't know about customizing my item bar and for the type 2 setting on radial menu so I don't have to juggle the d-pad. Improves the game so much, video deserves a like just for those.
No dislike, cause it was useful info for the community. Here's a few more that are obvious, but I've noticed are overlooked. -in the map you can cycle between display items with LB/RB -hovering over a node, or person, in the map and clicking left stick will track them. -clicking the left stick in the world while no enemies are around, will target known large monsters. This is a shortcut to tracking. Can be cycled off. -using the Net, you can kill Vespoids and Hornataurs with a 0% chance of breaking them. It takes 4 hits for Vespoid, and 10 for Hornataurs. Fastest way to get their pieces, and monster fluid. -Brightmoss slinger ammo works like Flashpods, with more used, but you have to hit monsters in the face. It's targeted instead of AOE. - the first hit on a sleeping Monster does bonus damage. This can be exploited through the use of barrel bombs. Set several around the body part you want to destroy, and set them off. Can instant kill an already wounded monster. - with sufficient stamina, you can reattach to a mounted monster that shrugged you off by tapping A/X.

Oops.
How tf
Wait a second how did you........................ Manage to beat like nergigante or I don't know XENOJIVA
Using the whetstone from the radial menu while your weapon is unsheathed lets you sharpen it without fully sheathing it, saving you time.
Kristofer DeLuna From a GS/LS user... Thanks for the tip!
I absolutely love how you’re not afraid to tell people who disliked the video to hit thumbs down
Ethan H Did you know that every troll in every youtube comments section or thumbs down bombing fools are actually bolstering the searchability and analytics of said video.
How is disliking something trolling? Its just as valid as an opinion as is liking something.
W4tch0ut trolling as in writing some questionable comments that weird fun or bs
Or better yet dislike without watching the video
I've just started playing, and it's my first of the series so I was very lost. I watched a lot of these types of videos, but this was the only one that seemed like the person didn't just copy the top google results for "Monster hunter world tips".
Moony Moonbear Yup! I purposly sought out to come up with all my own since many of the big sites are not helping anyone.
Guys... when you mount a monster look at the top right of the screen it will still prompt you!! lol has anyone else discovered this, i use insect glaive so it's handy
i8jellydonut thanks!!
I heard someone say this, but it's not true in my game
Look at the map. The edges'll become orange when the monster's about to attack ehen you're mounted.
You don't even have to brace, when you would brace move instead you get more damage and you don't lose alot of stamina if any at all
You can look at the minimap as well. The size of the white area shows how much stamina the monster has left. When the white area shrinks and becomes just a circle, you know the monster is close to falling down. And it also turns reddish when the monster tries to throw you off.
Quick, to the point, and full of useful information. Thanks for the vid, liked and subscribed.
Very helpful, straight to the point. Liked and subbed. Thank you.
30 hours in and I had no idea I could customize the radial wheel or set up auto-quotes. Hot damn, you can load out your inventory!? Have a like, great video xD.
This guide is actually super useful, thanks mate
Whoa you're fast mann lol
Timotheus24 yeah lance is and always has been master race
If you ain't running charge blade you ain't living
Timotheus24 that's cute. Remember how non viable my switch axe is when carving a tail I looped off for ya 😉
Dustin Nance that’s only when the lance player doesn’t know how to lance
You deserve way more subs than you have. Great information and very well presented. Keep up the good work. Just bought the game and it’s my first ever monster hunter experience. This amount your video has helped cannot be overstated.
When knocked down you have the option of not touching anything and staying down. This will make you invincible for longer and the monster won't be able to repeatedly hit you in corners as their next attack is mostly likely yo miss right before you get up.
I usually don't like videos, but you earned this one man. 30+ hours in and still much to learn
Well the Radial menu tip has now changed it all for me!! Thank you!
I'm around 200 hours into the game, farming tempered elder dragons left and right and still never knew you could zoom out with the camera! You just got yourself a new subscriber, gentleman!
Wow this is by far the best tips I've seen for the game so far, thank you!
Chrisleen Eungel this comment must be up because I wanted to say the same thing.
Best guide ive found, this answered a lot of questions for me, thanks for the great video.
Yeah, you literally just solved 3 of my biggest problems with the game. Very useful stuff dude. :D Thanks! Subbed
Best MHW video so far.
Great tips. Here's another one: Try capturing monsters. Not only do you get greater rewards, but often you can fight them in an optional mission in an arena after you have captured them. That's double the loot
Thanks for the most important tip for this game tip #1
Do I have to edit my item bag every hunt or is it saved once I'm done?
.50Cal one ☝️ time and it will save
Learned a lot from your vid just now. Thanks so much. You've now gained a subscriber.
Still don't have a ps4 and the game but you've earned my subscription. Can't wait to use your tips when I finally start hunting. Keep it up!
This was definitely helpful I'll be coming to this video often.
Great tips the ones for the camera and item bar were great
Finally some useful tips!
6 minutes for 11 solid tips, really appreciate such a polished video. Thank you!
New to mh so this was exceptionally thankful
Thank you so much!! Very helpful!
1st tip! Yuss l! Thanks so much! Earned a sub! Im 90 hrs in and still didnt know how to edit that
Your Own Senpai 90 hours in world?
Your Own Senpai Me 500+, hours. Thanks to this video, only now I know you can edit it...
Cheers! The radial menu one was really helpful for me!
You earned a sub, like, and a new member of the notification squad
Man this is one of the Most helpful clips I have watched these past few days , thumbs up and subscribed 💪😎
Awesome! Thanks
Bro #1 thank you! Was just telling a friend how they need something like that.
Man #1 is huge. The item bar is, or was, the one thing that I just hated about this game, having to shuffle through every item in your item bag and with a new order every single time.. with seemingly no way to change the order. Can't believe they don't tell us about it in-game!
Thanks boomstick gaming for some of those tips it helps alot and i also give it a try.
Much better than letting it go and having it unreliable.
... i've learned this trip up as well... but now that i've mastered using this by simply flicking the stick in the direction of the item I want, I don't even wanna go and try Type 2 now... lol.
WiiTrii
Oh, that's interesting. I'll give that a try tonight.
Adjusting the scroll bar and the item box load outs! Super helpful.
Changing the auto text for situations is pretty good too!
Thanks!
Good shit. You should do how to cooks, timing, and break down the canteen cuz I feel like every meal does the exact same thing lol
Check my latest upload man, made a guide to the canteen and cooking.
Wow these are actually useful. I’ve been seeing so many other vids repeating the same bits of advice thing over and over...but this I would’ve never known about the the tricks you could do in game if it wasn’t for this video.
Nice work.
#1 has helped me out so much
Winturs me2! Nice Thanks!
Thank you for this. Not ladled with opinions that don’t matter and reflect bias. Helpful and not obvious things for people to learn to enjoy hunting more easily. Well done sir.
Thanks. Very helpful tips, especially the whole menu and loadout customization was new to me.
Kind of crazy but your vids on the menus and small details actually saved me for wanting to quit over how complex and detailed the various facets of MHW is. Much thank, big wow!
Thank you, Awesome video!
Some great tips! I just beat the final monster last night and I had no idea about swapping items around in my pouch of camera zoom. Thank you!
thanks for not posting the same info thats in the tutorials like every other video good job
Helpful tips, straight to the point without much talking and army of darkness. Great vid
if you like fishing dont use the fishing rod and use the capture net instead it is easier to capture fishes with that
The other fish will also swim away though. If you place your shot right though you can catch atleast 3 fish.
Didn't even know about manually "sorting" your item bar and organizing spaces... and I couldn't find a way to save sets either. Great stuff.
Grymalkyne quests get new palico gear like stun traps
That s.o.s tip was by far the best tip, I also love how you customized you radial menus. If you don't mind I will be using that too.
Manny V ya know, I've never tried it with item based skills-maybe but, regardless those wear off after some time
When mounting you also have an indicator around the minimap, and more importantly, if you haven’t turned of the input controls on the top right corner, it highlights attack, brace, and move when it’s appropriate to do them.
Learned a few things thanks!
Tip number one SOLD. SUBSCRIBED.LIKED
Good job
great vid - I only knew one or 2 of these..... super helpful!!
I loved the in-between screens for your tips. you, my friend, have earned my sub!
Some great tips here. Thank you
I like your way of dealing with thumbs up and down. It's refreshing to see someone not craving for likes and using them as actual criticism and actually encouraging people to dislike a Video if it wasnt helpfull, but then also encouraging to comment their thoughts on the same time. I like it a lot :)
(sorry for my bad english^^' I'm not a native speaker)
I've been educated. Thank you sir, great video.
Very helpful thank you
As a total newbie, these tips are invaluable. I learn a ton of new things.
Awesome video!! Really helpful
If you run around with the pig he will sniff out hidden costumes and items in the hub world.
Wow some very useful stuff here. Thanks!
Didn't know about customizing my item bar and for the type 2 setting on radial menu so I don't have to juggle the d-pad. Improves the game so much, video deserves a like just for those.
Really really nice quality of life stuff. I'm off to implement like 6 of these.
No dislike, cause it was useful info for the community. Here's a few more that are obvious, but I've noticed are overlooked.
-in the map you can cycle between display items with LB/RB
-hovering over a node, or person, in the map and clicking left stick will track them.
