Hi from Scotland 🏴. Yes, they are Scottish. One of my sister’s favourite bands. Just remember Big Country blaring from her room, along with The Waterboys - Whole of the Moon. I’d be playing Texas and Franz Ferdinand songs. We have had some good bands over the years.
Big Country! I don't hear about them very much any more. They had a massive hit when they broke onto the scene, with the rollicking single "In a Big Country". In fact, I think I must go listen to it right now! It was my favorite song 40 years ago.
from the same TV performance , check out Porrohman . Also from the glasgow 1983 new years eve Big Country concert , check out lost patrol , fields of fire , - in fact that whole concert is fire. such an amazing band live.
Thank you for your Big Country reaction - great observations and very much appreciated. Best live band I've ever seen. You can choose a dozen of their songs, and I promise that you'll find something to love. Thanks again. 💙
Indeed high energy! Fits with my mood. Just watched a rugby game. And we - the world champs won again. Love the rhythm. TX Saeed. Greetings from South Africa
Ohhhhh YAAAAA BEAUTY my hometown heroes my idols and MY FRIENDS BIG COUNTRY! This was their first ever single. I distinctly remember watching this live on tv bouncing around the house like a mad thing lol. The Highland Clearances were the systematic removal of the Highland peoples from their ancestral lands by the English so called "landowners" to replace them with SHEEP beginning in the 1700s after the Union Of The Crowns in 1707! 🤬 This continued until the NINETEEN THIRTIES! No worries about not knowing anything about this history, sadly neither do many of my fellow Scots which does really annoy me, to put it politely. You should check out Fields Of Fire, One Great Thing, Look Away, East Of Eden and the song I will go into the fire to, Chance. The last one there is a final double check for me, if that song is playing and I'm not singing in that box then I'm definitely deid lol. Once again, from Bonnie Scotland THANK YOU for highlighting my friends' amazing music. ❤🏴❤
Oh no, Saeed discovered again one of my favorites artists (and i have a lot).............wait............ did i say that to your Alice Cooper reaction lately. Yep. But nevertheless, Big Country had their own style and sound (special guitar effects) and i loved it. Saw them two times live in Germany, one time with original singer Stuart Adamson (RIP) and one time without him. By the way, the drummer Mark Brzezicki is such a great and underrated drummer, too.
I remember when their hit song, "In A Big Country" came out. Was in Scotland doing a course. It was played everywhere. Great band

Hi From Belgium! Really enjoyed this.
I believe i did two reactions to The Waterboys, but not the song you mentioned. Must add it to my list. Thanks!

Enjoyed this performance! Love the energy.
Awesome that you get re-introduced to some of your favorite artists from the past. Enjoy listening to it!
I remember that song. It was huge in its day. Goingbto listen to it straight after this
Big Country!!! I love this band!!! Good beat makes you want to do a jig with them!!! Always deep lyrics!!!
And they were smokers! Which makes their stamina even more amazing!
Patty-I love this group. I saw them in concert once. You should check out the song Big Country. Great group.
Thanks for watching and the recommendation!
A top band, especially live.
Energetic, propulsive and lyrical.
Like it! Following in the vein of their eponymous debut hit, minus the E-bows(q.v.)😅

Maybe you want to react to Runrig? (also a band from scotland). If so its also a big hole you can dive in 🙂
Another one with stories in song is Wolfstone! The Prophet, Battle, Sleepytoon...so many good ones. And Tonight At Noon. 😮
Must add them to my list. Thanks!
If you haven't already...You need to react to "Sound of Madness" by Shinedown!!! FIRE!!!
Not yet!
