And she’s banned from gymnastic competitions in the Olympics
I will give D.W. credit where it is due. She wants to learn to ride that bike without training wheels. She makes the declaration that she will do it regardless of the injury she suffers. What a wonderful lesson about perseverance.
Good For You D.W.
Honestly, she’s way better than me in that regard. As a kid, I _once_ crashed a bike _with_ training wheels, and I haven’t ridden a bike since.
It's more of an F.U. Tibbles for bullying her into wanting to ride a bike. It gave her motivation, but I have to ask, how in hell is D.W. friends with them in the first place? Even D.W. doesn't deserve that level of toxicity in her life.
DW is only 4, and while he’s, she’s a brat, she’s not as bad as Angelica. That girl is a total bitch.

An episode where DW gets hurt a lot AND Arthur doesn't get screwed over because of it? Sign me up.
Finally!!!!!!
*FINALLY*
For a show who has ‘…get along with each other’ as a lyric in the theme song, these kids never get along with each other
Oh the irony
Technically the line is "...where you can learn to work and play and get along with each other." The key words being "can learn" because nobody in this show ever learns a thing.
Not true. They usually learn lessons at the end of the episode. Francine becomes nicer over time. The tough customers become good people. George and Fern speak up more and become more important characters later on. Arthur, Buster, Brain, and Sue Ellen were always generally good characters and when they needed to learn lessons, they did. Even some of the pre-school kids (Emily, James, and Bud) are generally good people. The only characters that don't improve are D.W., Muffy, and the Tibbles.
Residents of Elwood City are constantly sniping at one another.
Still, you have to admire her tenacity.
Even I admit that 🙋🏾
I mean at least she didn't demand Arthur babysit her the entire time. That's normally what happens
I agree
I especially liked the part where DW fell off the bike. It was all fun and games until I had to learn how to ride a bike and fell off. 😂😂😂
I don’t know how to keep your balance on those bikes, I’m glad they made tricycles for adults.
It's always funny when it's someone else
I remember this one time I was speeding around on my bike, hit a pothole, and landed on my elbow. Scraped the skin right off. If I bend my arm, I can still see the scar.
@@mattneffD.W. In the beginning: *Falls* HeLp
That random side character is the best. He barbequed fish in the middle of the night.
No mention of the fact that Mrs. Baxter is clearly an overprotective helicopter mom, since she wants her son to call her every *half-mile,* which even at a relatively slow 6 mph would mean calling her *EVERY FIVE MINUTES!?*
Good point, do you think she has any FU moments?
@@mattneffWell, there's also "Arthur Makes the Team," where she cheers over Buster not catching a ball because "The ball didn't hit him!" after drowning Mr. Frensky with inane questions.
I completely forgot that was ever a character trait of hers
I remember that in the episode where Arthur and his friends went ice skating. Buster was wearing a bicycle helmet because his mom made him wear one ice skating. It turned out to be a good thing because Buster ran into a tree branch!
@@mattneffshould we remember that one time in Arthur's Christmas?
She may be a pain but you got to admit DW learning to ride a bike herself and showing the tibbles up was pretty impressive.
Honestly, this is probably the most relatable D.W. episode in the entire series. We all went through the struggle of learning to ride, and D.W. is the perfect character for this topic.
"Cellular phone" - Ah, that takes me back... it reminds me of that episode where Arthur lost the ending to that old book, and my response was, "Why not Google it?!" How is this show older than me?!
Or when muffy refers to her big screen as a high D tv
DW being in the trash fits perfectly to the whole FU DW bit.
I feel like "Emily Swallows a Horse" is more of an FU Emily video, because she lied to DW and the Tibbles to get the sparkly ball and the lie continues to snowball until she has a nightmare which scares her straight.
DW is the kid that rides her bike through the crosswalk when the sign flashing says “Don’t Walk”
Than yells at other kids for doing it when she the crosswalker
@@lifewithlee6298 she would “Blow the whistle”
0:45 As a kid and to this day I wonder how and why the hell they were under the floorboards in the first place? Are they just hiding under there waiting to provoke anyone who dares approach the house?
What are they planning? 🤔
What's wrong with D.W. beating Arthur at basketball?
"You don't. You live there now." was funny.
"She falls head first into the garbage can. Where she belongs." LOL!
She did make it to 21. She drives a police car now.
I didn't think this would be an FU DW episode as it's kind of admirable how she persisted on learning how to ride a bike despite all the times she crashed. But you did make a case for how D.W. was her usual bratty self in many ways in this episode.
And the writers treat Arthur as their personal punching bag

The anthropomorphic animals consider themselves to be humans, man.
the part that makes it the weirdest is that the animals can still think in intelligible english. they just cant communicate with the rest of the functional people-animals. if all arthur animals were incapable of intelligent conversation, and only the people-animals could think in words, the distinction would be easy. makes you wonder what speech-capable animals (like parrots) would be like in the arthur universe.
I always look at this conundrum like humans and lesser apes.
Obviously an ape is not as intelligent as a human -- maybe as a low intelligence human.
But an ape can't really communicate, they can't really be toilet trained, in an office setting they wouldn't be able to be trained on something like data entry and they would get mad and attack their coworkers for seemingly no reason.
People are like "goofy and pluto are both dogs" but humans and chimpanzees are both apes. You generally don't see apes as pets, but that's only because they become hostile later in life. They're strong and you literally have to beat the crap out of them so they don't get out of line or get bored.
I consider it like the people-animals and the animal-animals had a common ancestor somewhere.
@@pikminman13 the animals and the babies can communicate with each other. They just can't communicate with older human. When babies grow up, they lose their ability to talk to animals.
@@ChristopherBingham-xx8xl hence why i said functional, babies are not, as they cannot talk to the "functional" ones (of course, this seems to apply to anyone even as young as d.w.)
1:56 I LMAO at that line about Mr. Ratburn and Mr. Read! 😂
I first ditched training wheels by forcing myself to ride down a steep hill on a two-wheeler... so I gotta give DW some props for her persistence here.
Not to mention that Crash in the Florida 500 in Cars 3!
I’d like to see D.W. Beats All from season 9, Sick as A Dog from season 1, or Arthur’s Family Feud from Season 5 sometime!
D.W. Beats All is an episode where she actually does something pretty cool. Not the best episode to cover for "FU DW."
Dw reminds me of Trina from grojband
Reason- dw wants to do stuff Arthur does, while Trina does and thinks what Nick Mallory does and thinks
I don't think I've seen that show, what was it about?
A 13-year-old boy named Corey Riffin starts a garage band with his friends Kin, Kon, and Laney and quickly comes to the realization that his band sucks. It's not their music or ever-changing image that's the problem. It's their lack of good lyrics. Corey and his band are great at everything else that's needed for making a band, but they just couldn’t think of any lyrics. This was all until they found Corey's older sister Trina's diary. When they looked in her diary they found that her entries were so profound that they would make perfect lyrics for songs. All they need to do is to toy with her emotions to make her write in her diary about her problems and angst so that they can put her diary entries into lyrics. Follow Corey and his garage band as they reach for the top and go on wild adventures to try and anger Trina and get lyrics for a new song before they go up on stage and play their next gig. Gasp at the problems they face and the solutions they come up with to get their band noticed so it can become the biggest band in all of Peaceville.
Also, if you don’t believe me, watch the first episode
And if you do, you can make it it’s just a cartoon episode
I always thought Trina was a ripoff of Candace who snitches on her mom all the time and try to get them into trouble.
It is but also, they’re orphans
If I was ever dying in the ICU in the hospital, I’d binge watch this whole series.. that would be my last wish!
4:27 I have to admire her determination
True she never gives up
Determination like that is common in narcissistic behavior. I've seen it in D.W., Rachel Berry & my older sister. 😈 🧙♀️
2:34 That little detail of them struggling to put the helmet on over her ears makes me giggle for some reason.
Actually, wooden stakes weren't supposed to end vampires: just prevent them from leaving their coffins. In fact, in Bram Stoker's novel, Dracula wasn't staked, but his throat was cut and he was stabbed through the heart with a knife.
You should do an FU Arthur for the episode "So Funny, I Forgot to Laugh". It's the one where Arthur bullies Sue Ellen over her new sweater.
Perfect episode after breaking 4 of my teeth in a biking accident lmao 😩😬
Geez, what happened?
I loved that kate and pal where the only ones who wached dw the whole time and cheered at the end
I'll admit, if D.W. taught me something, it's to never have kids.
she's the reason why condom ads exist
Another good episode to cover might be "D.W. Aims High." They play it as D.W. being ambitious and wanting to be a pioneering astronaut, but it's obvious from the first two minutes that D.W.'s interest in becoming an astronaut is motivated entirely by her self-centeredness and the belief that she deserves to first at everything.
I forgot about that one. I'm glad I did. It's good for FU DW though
Matt’s got some S tier zingers in this one, I spent the better part of the episode losing my shit laughing especially ratburn and aderall bit 😂😂😂😂

The only case where I actually feel bad for DW. I can’t ride a two wheeler due to never being put in a place to learn how (thanks shitty parents). I got hurt on a giant three wheeler when I was twelve. It wasn’t fun and I had to go to a hospital. Didn’t need stitches, but it was a lot of uncomfortable swelling.

Thank you for doing these episodes.
Would love to see you do an episode of Between The Lions.
I wouldn’t mind if the episode ended with D.W. In a full body cast

The way that she went about asking her parents for a bike, asking them to take the training wheels off, and asking Arthur to teach her was wrong. There are better ways to ask for help than this.

Definitely he should deserve his own spin off show or series 4:58
This was one episode I couldn't stop laughing at, even though I don't think I saw it for the first time until some point around 2004 (or possibly even the Spring of '05). At 1:04, Google was actually established in September of 1998-which was nearly two years after Arthur had debuted. Interestingly, the horse and rider at 1:28 is actually the same one which appears as D.W. and her mom are driving home at the end of "D.W. Flips" (Season 1 Episode 16B). I'd completely forgot that David's "Lasagna Taj Mahal" is in this episode, even though it is oddly shown during the "liver cake" lyric in the "Leftovers Ghoulash" song sequence (in Season 3 Episode 14B). But it is indeed odd how David chose to make the Taj Mahal in lasagna, and not something like "Chicken Korma" or naan. As at least one of those originated on the Indian subcontinent (even as the word "Naan" itself is technically derived from Persian). For some unexplained reason, the scene at 3:56 with D.W. falling in the garbage can lives rent-free in my mind, even though Arthur does fall into one in another episode after this. Also at 5:15, I never realized how David Read wasn't wearing sweat pants while biking until now.
look at that look the parents do care for son arthur after all
Love this episode!
Me too, what's your favorite episode?
Goofy ahh angry face on the right
Candace has taught her well...
Personally I hate episodes about people learning how to ride a bike due to the fact I could not learn how to ride a bike and feel like this episode in particular just tells you keep trying even though you are badly hurt and eventually you will get it when that was not how it was for me. To be fair I got so fursturatred as an adult I googled how to ride a bike and figured out my problem ( that being said I still need to practice a lot but at least now I can ride a bike but yeah this is not the way for kids to learn how to ride a bike)
She wears a headpiece like arale and like arale shes a menace to everyone who comes her way
I am way too into this series for my own good but I can’t resist 😂😂😂😂
DW threw herself in the trash???! She actually did us a favor there for a sec….
If only it lasted...
This episode reminds me of when dw begged her mom to try gymnastics but soon after wanna ride a horse instead
Oh yes I remember that.
Except she never learned to be even decent at gymnastic. She did learn how to ride a bike
Ironically, this is probably a Decent episode
Considering the dogs in Arthur's class are a hulking bulldog and some kind of wolfhound? with more psychotic rage than a pitbull named Princess? Maybe they already had a species war and lost.
Mr. Sipple showing up, dripping wet and wearing a towel, makes the gag all the funnier.
"That's weird. Most vampires tend to vaporize when they get stabbed with a wooden stake." That might be Matt's cleverest joke yet.
I don't think I ever had training wheels on my bikes when I was learning. I think it was just a 'Here's a bike, we practice on the grass' Fall off it? 'You're fine, get up and try again'
That cellular phone bit reminded me of Mr. Enter’s review of the Family Guy episode Brian’s a Bad Father, where Peter says to the audience “You don’t know who Joe Pesci is cause you’re 14”, and Enter replays him saying 14 in that same way. He reused that clip from earlier in the episode after Peter asked Lois how to slit his wrists to commit suicide.
I emphasize hard with Arthur. My brother was the golden child who wanted to do everything I did and I was the family screw up. He was free to waltz into my room anytime he wanted and take my toys and my mom wouldn't do a damn thing except yell at me.
We didn't become friends until we were teenagers, and I don't blame him. I blame my parents.
Many would say that they finally saw DW get what she deserved in this episode
I knew a girl whose parents made her use training wheels until she was 9½. This was in the mid 90s and her parents weren't usually that strict. She learned how to properly ride very quickly after that.
Who else thinks he should do fu manny like from diary of a wimpy kid
