PeanutButterGamer covers some very weird and unlikely Arthur crossovers and parodies! Anything from an Arthur South Park parody, an Arthur Dexter's Lab parody, and Arthur Beevis and Butthead parody, to crossovers with the Backstreet Boys, and Matt Damon?? (Oh yeah and also me... Kind of.) Peebs goes over and reviews these Arthur episodes and more!

Thanks so much for watching! (I know I need a hair cut.)

Another great video, Matt Damon!
Yeah, get it before it's gone!
Sorry can't I don't have enough
“So do you want Matt Damon to look like Matt Damon or like an Arthur character?”
“No”
He looks like a Joel Haver style rotoscoped Arthur character Matt Damon.
Yeah I hate it when cartoons don’t make the celebrity cameos match the art style of the regular characters. They’re so weird to look at and Arthur has to be the biggest offender.
I love it when memes get subverted
Yeah, i even felt the same way about how they did John Lewis, as Peebs pointed out. When they do these "real-life celebrity cameos" (not just a celebrity playing an in-universe character like in BJ Novak or Idina Menzel's case) it always felt uncanny to me.
I do like how adult Arthur looks kind of like PBG. It's like even they know how big of a fan he is.
Fun fact: They actually reanimated “The Great Macgrady” years later and replaced Lance Armstrong with an original character (Uncle Slam)
I also remember them re-dubbing "Lance Armstrong" to "Vance Legstrong" at one point too.
@@spyrofrost9158 Pretty sure that was actually a parody character
That was dumb
I remember when they played that same episode like 30 days in a row lol
@@TheAllSeeingEye2468the flash episode is dumb too so it fits
Aardvark Matt Damon is one of the strangest ideas I’ve ever seen executed in cartoon. Like who on earth thought little kids would recognize a real life celebrity in a kids show like that, because me and my friends sure didn’t
"Matt Damon."-Matt Damon
It was for the adults and the teens who had to watch it when we were young.
All of the characters could have been humans since they don't have tails and that one scene where Arthur doesn't even put headphones on his ear.
Schaffrillas Productions is going to kill you for this!
I remember when I watched that episode with my family my mom noticed he had two sets of ears...
"Tell Austin Hargrave he"ll never review Arthur in this town again!"
PBS lawyers
Uh, he doesn't review in this town
@@MarcelineRaven Then tell him he can't review in that town either!
You tell PBG that he’ll never review town in this Arthur again!
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
The reason the Backstreet Boys episode is so obscure/hard to find is becuase PBS couldn't afford to keep paying residuals to them for using their music.
I now feel cool I have the VHS release in my basement then 🎉
I know right
I know right 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Good thing I got the special on DVD from Salvation Army for only $1.99.
Yup. It was insane to actually watch it for the first time.
Arthur crossovers are so wild, it gave my parents something to point at the screen and go "Hey it's Southpark" while my clueless self sits there absolutely confused lmfao
I know right
Damn, no mention of the greatest line in all of television: “Neil Gaiman? What are you doing in my falafel?”
Yo it’s Totoro 🙏
Surprised there was no mention of “Neil gaiman, what are you doing in my falafel” lol
Truly the greatest line in the entire show
wait what? Tell me more.
One of my favorite crossover episodes in the series, hands down.
Someone asked him on tumblr (to those who haven't heard yes, he has a tumblr) to "explain" a screenshot of him in the Arthur crossover sitting in the food and he explained nothing lol
My theory is that he suggested the weird introduction though, bc it somehow suits his sense of humor
I know right
“You tell Arthur Read that he’ll never eat lunch in this town again!” - Matt Damon, 2006
I know right
It was technically 2007. But on the subject of the "It's Only Rock and Roll" special from five years earlier, it was supposedly never shown as a rerun after 2002. Until it aired as part of the "Arthur Mega Marathon" in February of 2022 as a promotion of the final four episodes of the series.
I don't like how Matt Damon's hair is shaped around human ears that he doesn't have in the show.
3:56 I can't help it! I just can't help it--every time someone says 'You know what they say--' my brain goes "All toasters toast toast!"
You know what they say, sure.
No, madmanminkler. Toasters toast bread.
Same 😂
Deahhh peskee plummahs
@@CoralCopperHeadtell that to Mario
I think my favorite thing about PBG is that he's basically a YTP channel disguised as a regular channel.
The weirdest part of Matt Damon's design is that his hair forms around wear his ears would normally be as a human, but he had top of the head animal ears, so he just has weird ear shaped spaces of flesh/fur on the side of his head.
I know right
Fr, even some of the other character designs aren't this weird looking. I think the designs should teeter on "not too human, but still looks like the person you're portraying".
@@chrisrockett5897 They needed to lean into making caricatures of the people more rather than just superimposing their face onto an Arthur-style creature.
@@mastermarkus5307 Yeah, I feel that.
I remember very distinctly watching the crossover episode with Yo-Yo Ma and Joshua Redman as a kid.
Why Grandma Thora thought it was a good idea to bring a bratty toddler to a Yo-Yo Ma concert, I have no idea
@@mrcritical6751To give her an appreciation for a different genre of music.
@@chrisrockett5897 you do that by letting her listen to recordings, you don’t take her to see him live
@@mrcritical6751 That's fair enough.
Muffy: We're not that far apart, Nick!!
Peebs: Girl, let me stop you right there
5:13 They never replaced Francine with a robot, that was just a daydream Francine had 🤓
Actually, they did use the robot during their performance in front of the kindergardeners. That was the only part they seemed to like about the band.
I know right
What I find interesting about the Lance Armstrong episodes is they didn't just pull them from syndication since the doping scandal.
Instead they edited one of the later ones to replace him with a fictional athlete and had some of the characters redub their lines when they weren't on screen (and thus couldn't see their mouths didn't match the words).
They didn't just edit him out. They redid the entire episode.
The animation is in the newer style, and they couldn't just have the mis-matching styles, so they just did everything again.
The characters with different voice actors were re-dubbed, and I'm not entirely sure if any recordings were reused from the original episode, but it wouldn't surprise me.
What people fail to mention is that the fictional athlete is *_UNCLE SLAM._*
I had heard online for years that they remade the episode with a fictional athlete, and I figured they just made up some random guy.
They had a big Arthur marathon on PBS during the leadup to the final season of the show, and I happened to see the new version of the episode. My jaw hit the floor when it turned out to be Uncle Slam. So freaking cool that they were able to take a recurring character like that and naturally weave him into the story. I have a lot of gripes with modern Arthur, but that was fantastic.
Honestly based I think? Like, that shows more dedication to _not_ supporting him than to just ban the episodes outright and leave his name on them permanently. Otherwise it would be a complete waste to have it exist in the first place
I am against censorship but at the same time, I don't consider that censorship
@@DaNintendude they remade an older episode
But the one they edited aired only a few months prior to the scandal, so it was easier to update
@@safebox36 Can't find any evidence of that, but it wouldn't surprise me.
They _did_ have other episodes with a Lance parody "Vance Legstrong" but I don't think he was ever a part of any Great MacGrady edit.
I know right
The Backstreet Boys crossover should've ended with Arthur and the gang becoming complete pariahs of the music scene for ruining a concert and wasting everyones' time and money, meanwhile Muffy gets arrested and sued for kidnapping. That would've been comedy gold.
I know right
That woulda been funny as shit minus Muffy getting outright arrested (since she's 8 and all). I want Ed to get sue'd instead and have Muffy getting held accountable because of it.
Sounds like a fanfic idea
It'll never cease to amuse me whenever cartoons depict celebrity guests with these more realistic, overly-detailed faces that are at complete odds with the show's usual simpler character designs. You'll just be watching The Flintstones and then, all of a sudden, WHAM, a walking caricature of someone who was probably a big deal in the 60s pops up! It's so bizarre.
Also, Francine's band dissolving after becoming successful at the end of that Backstreet Boys movie is one of the most blatant instances of "PRESERVE THE STATUS QUO!!!!" I have ever seen.
I know right
I kinda get it for some of Scooby-Doo's later crossovers since the character designs actually lend to the characters looking more realistic. I only slightly had a problem with it during Scoobynatural, but only then only slightly.
Ah yes, Aardvark Matt Damon, definitely the character of all time!
right up there with Will Smith Fish
Yeah
Actually the "Arthur" version of Matt Damon actually seems more like a bear to me? Because aardvarks in "Arthur" don't even have pink noses like he clearly does.
My favorite Arthur crossover was definitely the Christmas episode featuring Kim Jong Un and Putin having a bare knuckle fight to raise money for charity.
What?? 🤭

"Matt Damon" S.A.I.D MOM
Brilliant! S-tier comment right there. 👍
It's always been weird to me how the earlier Arthur guest-stars were actually stylized to fit seamlessly into Arthur's world.
Mr Rogers, Art Garfunkel, Alex Trebek-- they all look great.
Then we get to the Backstreet Boys, Matt Damon, that senator, and all of them are horrifying... like Buster's dad from Postcards with Buster.
Also the Matt Damon episode is just one of like 3 or 4 supposed backstories for the actual Arthur show. The Matt one is one of the weirdest and it's just really funny how it all plays out. I prefer the one where the gang are young adults and decide to make their own show after they lose the cartoon contest. The finale, which I assume is the canon ending, is also pretty good. Arthur making visual novels about his childhood make a lot more sense and would even explain the artstyle of the show as well. Arthur probably isn't an aardvark irl. We just saw everyone through the lens of adult Arthur's imagination. And he snuck in some jokes about the imaginary animal species he made everybody.
The senator was John Lewis. He was a key figure in the civil rights movement, but yeah his design was way too detailed. Speaking of, remember when Buster's dad had a slightly simpler design?
Hopefully Matt Damon's soul can rest after this and I can eat lunch in this town again.
I know right
The one episode of Arthur with a guest character I hold the most nostalgia for is the one with Mr. Rogers. I grew up watching a lot of Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood, so seeing in Arthur, and being voiced by the legend himself, Mr. Rogers, made it all the more nostalgia for me.
Same with me.
Did u see the neighbourhood episode where Arthur was the main feature of the episode, from Fred bringing an Arthur plushie to that plushie hanging out with the neighbourhood of make believe and then Fred taking it the Mac Brown's studio where he also meets the original voice actor for Arthur (Mac's son)?
After their appearance on their shows, they kept in touch over phone until Fred's death and Mac even attended Fred's funeral in Pittsburgh
@@alexirofdeathThat's a full circle moment right there.

The actual crossover we all need is PBG on an Arthur episode.

13:56 "Open up Matt Damon"
"Get together and make Matt Damon"

I only liked 4 guest appearances on arthur. Yo mama and joshua redmond because they had artistic insight to impart with the episodes approach to different genres of music. Art garfunkel because it never brought attention to his celebrity and his design felt so in tune with the arthur universe that it blended in seamlessly, it was like the early seasons of king of the hill when they hired celebrity voices but they actually played characters instead of turning it into a worship fest like modern animation does (except forthe willie Nelson episode). And mister rogers because he's mister rogers.
Those were all classics!
Part of me wants to throw What's Cooking (Ming Tsai's guest episode) in the mix because of the lesson of "some of the greatest inventions and foods come from mistakes". I dunno, I just thought it was neat.
I was not expecting you to use RTE news as your example for Lance Armstrong XDDD
I don't know who that is, hopefully it's nothing controversial, LOL. It was just the most precise audio clip I could find to describe the situation.
Considering the UK doesn't have PBS and i only heard of it from the Simpsons, most shows that came from that channel were on other UK based channels such as BBC,POP, ITV, Channel 4, etc. Arthur was airing on CBBC (Childrens BBC) i remember reading a few books and the children talking about books was cut
We had Arthur on Nickelodeon too, albeit as part of a CBBC segment (yes, there was a CBBC segment on Nickelodeon).
And yeah, we didn't have the "And Now a Word From us Kids" thing, I don't think - the first I heard of it was on PBG's videos.
@@MJN_SEIFER - "Arthur" was also on NickToons UK during early mornings back in 2005/2006 as well.
I can't believe there's an Arthur episode that not only has Matt Damon in it, but reveals the whole show we've been watching the entire time was filmed and written by him in the show itself. Truly mind blowing and I love it.
Peanutbuttergamer was the best Arthur crossover.
Honestly, it's the guest stars, parodies, and utterly bizarre jokes are what makes Arthur so watchable even as an adult, which also explains its longevity on television. It's both nice and wholesome and utterly UNHINGED at the same time. I'll never not love Arthur

earliest arrival to PBG ever for me, I'm sure you enjoy reading this exact comment 100's of times, I agree with that person saying 2:49 felt like an edit lol. Thanks for the video!
In defense of Francine's singing, she is heard solo singing back in To Beat or Not To Beat, the song is You Can Fly If You Try on YT and its pretty good. When it comes to the movie itself, I did really enjoy it despite finding Muffy insufferable, espicially with her crushing on him like that. It was also nice to see Fern take the spotlight as I am currently doing a watchthrough/rewatch of the series thanks to your vids, she has become one of my favourite characters alongside Sue Ellen.
My favourite moment of the episode is when Fern says she got a "Ferb" card, as all it makes me think is Ferb Fletcher.
Also, loved the RTÉ News cameo, did not expect to see that.
Yeah, Francine deserves better.
can't wait for the next MattDamonGamer episode.
WHOA! Did not expect another Arthur video (although, to be far, he has the collaboration with YouTooz and Arthur!)
Muffy legit tried to kidnap a celebrity for extortion
"You have to stop listening to this rot! It's destroying your brain!" that's extremely funny
The most unlikely crossover was with the UA-camr PeanutButterGamer. I'm still can't believe it's real.
Me neither.
There's something about anthros with human facial features that make them look really unsettling.
Especially when they had John Lewis on the show. His design was WAAAYY too detailed.
As someone who just saw Arthur a little bit before I aged out of it, I am constantly endeared by his man's abiding love for a cartoon I never thought much of... though I will say that as someone who remembers Backstreet fever, Muffy's reactions are perhaps frightening- but not out of the ordinary. Not one bit...

I *was* Muffy in the 90s, being an 8 year old girl madly in love with the Backstreet Boys. That childhood nostalgia then morphed into intense panic as you began to talk about Oberyn versus the Mountain as my kids sat eating dinner and I greatly feared the clip being shown 😂 so thanks for the roller coaster!
Oh snap I remember the Backstreet boys special!!!
I didn't know there was a Backstreet Boys X Arthur crossover
I didn’t knew when I was little in 2009-10 Arthur was the goat.
If they replaced Lance Armstrong after a scandal....thank goodness they never had Bill Cosby on the show
I have a Reading Rainbow VHS of him reading the first Arthur book. 😬
@@PeanutButterGamerThat's nuts.
Bill Cosby singlehandedly ruined the vibes of Little Bill despite the show actually being good fr. That show honestly could've been talked about more fondly if Bill wasn't involved with it.
One of the best cameos was Taj Mahal and Coco Taylor it got me into the blues. It's funny tho after that episode I got a Taj mahal cd as a kid and one of the first songs goes "This next song is a funny little song

Watching the Taj Mahal/Coco Taylor episode also made me realize that Taj was the one who sung the intro to Peep and the Big Wide World, which is ANOTHER show produced by WGBH.
@chrisrockett5897 someone at wgbh had good taste it seems. I never realized he did the theme song for peep
@@JL0ndon I never realized either until I looked it up. Also, small pet peeve about the intro, but I'm still salty that it ended with "it's a big wide world and it's waiting for me and you" instead of "it's waiting for YOU and ME ". Shit coulda been perfect if they swapped those two words around.
Art Garfunkel was in Arthur as well.

I will still never forget when they had Backstreet Boys on the show. I remember that they titled it "It's Only Rock and Roll," but Backstreet Boys were more a Pop Music Group than a Rock Band, so I never did understand the title. LMAO.
Same here - I honestly felt kind of cheated
It's titled that because of Fern and Francine's plot.
Arthur has crossovers? Did I know or did I care? No. Why am I here? I'm not sure, but here I am, and I'm glad.
Kinda? They're more like homages.
If you think that Backstreet Boys episode was rough as released, just be glad they cut the scene where Francine gives the rest of the band a mandatory tour of her all-vinyl outsider music library and explains why The Shaggs were more important to music history than The Beatles
Happy Fathers Day, Austin.
The cover for Arthur it's only rock and roll is kinda a lie, it has him with the backstreet boys but he doesn't meet them in the movie.
Nice to see ya upload again Peebus
I absolutely LOVE Matt Damon, the episode is the MATT DAMON! (MATT DAMON, MATT DAMON, MATT DAMON and MATT DAMON!)
In a later episode of Arthur, Jane Lynch made a guest appearance as Mr. Ratburn’s sister, which is so funny because her chapter is an immaculate caricature of her, boosting the number of gay rats that appeared in the series up to 2 (I think).
Jane Lynch also guest-starred in another PBS Kids show, WordGirl, a few years earlier in the two-part special “The Rise of Miss Power”, which is really funny because it’s just all of the adult characters roasting and bullying each other in front of an impressionable ten year-old for 50 minutes (it also actually made me cry a couple of times).
Jimmy Kimmel would hate that Matt Damon episode! 💀
I remember my friend and I in elementary school thought the idea of 'Arthur and the Backstreet Boys' was hilarious.
