- Bird dog lyrics:
Johnny is a joker (he's a bird)
A very funny joker (he's a bird)
But when he jokes my honey (he's a dog)
His jokin' ain't so funny (what a dog)
Johnny is a joker that's a'tryin' to steal my honey (he's a bird dog)
Johnny sings a love song (like a bird)
He sings the sweetest love song (ya ever heard)
But when he sings to my gal (what a howl)
To me he's just a wolf dog (on the prowl)
Johnny wants to fly away and puppy-love my baby (he's a bird dog)
Hey, bird dog get away from my quail
Hey, bird dog you're on the wrong trail
Bird dog you better leave my lovey-dove alone
Hey, bird dog get away from my chick
Hey, bird dog you better get away quick
Bird dog you better find a chicken little of your own
Johnny kissed the teacher (he's a bird)
He tiptoed up to reach her (he's a bird)
Well he's the teacher's pet now (he's a dog)
What he wants he's been gettin' now (what a dog)
He even made the teacher let him sit next to my baby (he's a bird dog)
Hey, bird dog get away from my quail
Hey, bird dog you're on the wrong trail
Bird dog you better leave my lovey-dove alone
Hey, bird dog get away from my chick
Hey, bird dog you better get away quick
Bird dog you better find a chicken little of your own
Till I kissed you lyrics:
Never felt like this until I kissed ya
How did I exist until I kissed ya
Never had you on my mind
Now you're there all the time
Never knew what I missed 'til I kissed ya, uh-huh
I kissed ya, oh yeah
Things have really changed since I kissed ya, uh-huh
My life's not the same now that I kissed ya, oh yeah
Mmm, ya got a way about ya
Now I can't live without ya
Never knew what I missed 'til I kissed ya, uh-huh
I kissed ya, oh yeah
[Chorus:]
You don't realize what you do to me
And I didn't realize what a kiss could be
Mmm, ya got a way about ya
Now I can't live without ya
Never knew what I missed 'til I kissed ya, uh-huh
I kissed ya, oh yeah
[Chorus]
[Fade]
I kissed ya, uh-huh
I kissed ya, oh yeah
Both these beautiful singers gone now. What a brilliant contribution to the world of music they made. Stunning voices and flawless harmonies. The loss of Don Everly now has left me feeling ‘So Sad’.
Thank you. I HAVE ALWAYS THOUGHT PHIL EVERLY WAS THE MOST GORGEOUS MAN GOD EVER CREATED
no auto tune or fancy backing tracks and tricks just pure talent
Yeah they just played the record.
@@jimmyhawkins5357Crap man, not on this performance. On others yes, like the American Bandstand, but not here.
The total model for the early Beatles sound. Complete with Buddy Holly band and influence.
Yes,that is Joe B.("buy us")Mauldin on bass, behind Phil (left) and Jerry Allison on drums, don't know who the other guy was? After 'The Crickets' formed up again after the year before lost of Buddy Holly!!
***** And Sonny Curtis wrote the theme song for The Mary Tyler Moore Show, of all things!
Absolutely flawless vocals. They were so polished. A class act. The Crickets backing them up were also great.
Richard McGrath never heard of them buddy. holy smokes they sound good
raindogred pboxxing
Did you know that back in 1958 The Everlys and The Crickets discussed merging into one act!! In fact a few months earlier, whilst touring in Florida, the Everlys back up band was unable to hit the stage, then Buddy and The Crickets stepped up to support their friends
At first time I think was : seems Crickets ....
Oh what big surprise with that confirmation. Thanks, fellow. Very cool
Till I kissed ya. . As long as I can still listen to it, life's worth living. Thank you.
Wow, I like this version of “till I kissed ya” better than studio version, have listened to i t 20 times in a row, just amazing sound
They were just amazing performers all around!! Perfect vocals, perfect guitar playing, perfect stage presence. Very easy on the eyes to boot. Quadruple threat! RIP Phil!!!
Their country accents come on so fine with this tune. It's why I loved them in 1957 when I was 9, and to this day. Seeing them live was an all time music high. Natives of Kentucky as my own ancestry....Central City's Everly Brothers heritage there is phenomenal.
RIP Don and Phil. You guys were the best. No one today can touch you!
I've sung Bird Dog hundreds of times at gigs. Of course it has never sounded even close to Phil & Don. Then, no one ever did. R.I.P. Phil, thanks for the great music.
And now RIP Don too.
Great vocals, great harmonies, such a superb blend. Huge influence on millions of musicians including The Beatles.
RIP long live their Music an Country music an Rock an Roll
Best duet of all time in Rock Music.
Gotta agree .
Duo you mean
Best duet in any type of music. Non better anywhere anytime.
Yeah
The best, hands down, no doubt about it. I grew up in the small town they lived in. They shaped our lives. Just wish they hadn't been squeezed out like they were. They should have been playing big stadiums like Neil Diamond, but Acuff-Rose killed that. www.savingcountrymusic.com/how-music-row-acuff-rose-killed-the-everly-brothers/#:~:text=Phil%20Everly%20of%20The%20Everly%20Brothers%20Passes%20Away&text=But%20when%20their%20first%20single,Columbia%20promptly%20dropped%20the%20duo.&text=So%20then%20Chet%20Atkins%20introduced,Acuff%2DRose%20with%20Roy%20Acuff.
This is the real deal...genius stuff, and absolutely 100% live!
They were so good a big deal back then glad I got to grow up w such good music
The great and gone musical era that won't ever be heard nor seen.
* sad face *
You can listen right here.
Colossal talent! What happened?! There's no more singing about heartbreak and growing process. This has to be the peak! Come on back human beings!
God bless thanks for sharing wonderful oldies "still 🚀 2020 t.h..r.b... 👪 friends near far 🎸 🌹 👼 🐦 🌴 🌅 🌈 AloHA "
I was living this music as it happened. 60 years ago I was 10! These guys were my favorites! Their music is even better now!
Same with me ...as a young boy i was thrilled with their music....played their lp's over and over.
Still love them . Have their greatest hits album I bought back in 65.
Nobody seems to realize that it's the Crickets that back the Everly Brothers here. They are a legend in their own right.
Good observation! It certainly is the Crickets.
+dkfelix thanks for that
+Rob Faz
Thanks for that! Jerry Allison's drumming style is unmistakeable but I was puzzled by the guitarist (except I knew it wasn't Niki Sullivan)
dkfelix I saw them live with the Crickets in 1963
Waylon Jennings with the Crickets too, I think.
These guys had been there, seen it, done it, chucked it all away got it all back, played catch with it and wiped their arses on it before I was even born. Just me saying they are one of my favorite bands says it all. Genius. P.S thanks Dad for playing them relentless in the car when I was a kid. This is what got me into them.
Brings back so many fantasies of my youth. The Everlys were one of my favorite groups from this era, and so underappreciated today.
Love the Everlys. So fantastic singer. Miss them in this World
Fabulous Everly Brothers ~ FOREVER !!!
!979, This boy was born way too late! But thankful I have the most BEST parents in the whole wide world to give me this gift of Rock and Roll! So Blessed!!!
Best duo harmony I ever heard was by these two brothers👍
Agreed
I love this Classic listening to it 2022
The backup band here is Buddy Holly's Crickets. After Holly's death on Feb 3rd, 1959, the band backed up the Everly's on their UK tour, among others.
Well, the post-Holly Crickets, really. Minus Earl Sinks. And with Sonny Curtis instead of Tommy Allsup.
Kinda a post-post-post-Holly Crickets ...
They also backed Eddie Cochran after Buddy's passing including recordings.
The Crickets belong in the R.R. H.O.F.
@@DavidAndrewsPEC So that must be like the post post post Eagles, the post post post REO Speedwagon, the post post post Journey. Okay
Oh wow, I didn’t know that..best of the best.
I love them! So does my grand son! 6-22-2024 RIP Everly Bros Patty1957 😂😅😊
Unbelievably Talented.
January 6th.......Phil left us to sing with the celestial choir.
I miss him every day.
Beautiful. Simple. Perfect.
Sad to hear about you phil, truly depressing news. 'Until i kissed You' is so much musical value in itself. What harmonies, we'd still need 'em, perhaps more than ever. RIP
so sweeeet , I love them very much !!!
Согласна
Loved the good old days with the Everly Brothers and their music!
RIP Phil Everly, music will miss you!
I played their records over and over as a kid back in the 60's.. Never got tired of the music

STILL ROCKIN
RIP Phil. Without them, no British Invasion. What class.
what is the connection to the British Invasion..? Loved these guys,, I am a Brit just curious to your comment.
Joyce Barker No British Invasion is maybe too strong, but all those beautiful harmonies by the Beatles, Freddie and the Dreamers, Hollies and countless others were inspired by the Everlys. We give thanks that the Brits appreciated this which made the British Invasion magic.
Joyce Barker Everly brothers were the idols of the beatles, hollies etal..They heavily influenced the great british groups.--Helped develope their sound
Ah yes 🤗 songs you can sing along to.. 2023 Grammys were a joke compared to this .. 🎼👍🇦🇺
Thank you Lord for sharing these 2 beautiful voices with us. How wonderful to see the Crickets perform again 🙏💖
Best harmonisers ever!!
need more of this kind of music in the world today 2018 feb!
Top of the top singers
The sound track to my life. Conjuring up latent memories of my pre-adolescent years. No auto tune, but both songs perfectly reproduced life and true to the original recording. They had to be good. Poor performers that we have today wouldn’t/couldn’t cut it.
These guys were as versatile as any group in history.
Hello from Berlin, Germany. These brothers gave way for a wonderful new musik - i love them🖐😍
Rock'n Roll will never be old fashioned.!!!
They were always in perfect harmony. Total outstanding!
What Fab singers they were.I still Love ❤️ Them XXXXXXX ❤️ Every song they made was Special.I was 8yrs old when Cathy's Clown came out and it's still one of my Favourites today Bless You Phill and Don Everly ❤️
I fully agree with you Peter......Just fabulous!! Thank God we still can listen to such great music. Thanks for uploading
Rest in peace, Phil. Enjoyed yours and Don's records.
Re comments that say it was Phil’s tenor harmonies that gave the Everlys their distinct sound: that’s literally only half the story. It was the combination of Don’s tenor-baritone lead alongside Phil’s tenor - both in the same genetic/DNA vocal tone - that made their sound unique.
The Everly Brothers, so sweet!
Now I can't live without you . . .
Phil never did a solo part. But his soaring harmonies are amazing.
Not true. Phil had a solo on "It's All Over".
Right he sang the solo on that song !
You're absolutely correct. His harmonizing tenor is what gave them their distinct sound!!! LOVE IT!!!
I like Phil better
Don sung Always with Bariton and Phil falseto. It's the reason why Don usually solo Part did
THE EVERLY BROTHERS WERE FAB AND LOVED NEVER TO BE FOR GOTTEN RIP LADS . LOVE UK
Only Phil has passed, Don is alive and well
He's a bird dawg! Love this song!
The Everly Brothers museum in Central City Kentucky is worth the trip ! We went last week and enjoyed it thoroughly !
greatest glad I was a teenger when these were hits
I was a pre teen then, but listened to all of my older sisters 45's
Just SO catchy n melodic, we will all miss Phil and these sweet songs...
This kind of music history has been erupting in some of the podcasts where the person viewing the videos seems to go into shock..I'm so ecstatic these historical tunes can, and will, likely be listened to an eternity..🥰🥰🥰..and will let future generations really realize what real music sounded like 👍🎶
Thank goodness for those of us born in this era of amazing music.
A VERY SAD DAY, GOD BLESS YOU PHIL !
One of my favourite Everley Brothers songs, Bird Dog.
They are simply the greatest
Singing duo ever & they are brothers‼️ Raw talent perfected...⭐💞⭐💞
I like this video with the crickets.
😍 rock on 🤘
Rest In Peace Phil, like this song very much
Love the originals,,they were great!
Sure do miss them and those days.
When I was little, I thought the line in "'Til I Kissed Ya" was, "Mmmm, you got a WHALE about ya..." Haha. Still makes me laugh each time I hear that!
LOL me too!
I thought Leave my woman alone sounded like "You dumb ass,you don't have to get into trouble" LOL
that's funny--lol
I thought so,too! This is such a lovely video.
When I first herd it I thougt it was "MMM you got a whale by ya"
I watch their videos every night!
Rest in peace Phil Everly... so so sad
Saw them twice in the 80,s legends
That is just beautiful vocals. No auto tune or heavy fill. Love the drums on Till I Kissed You.
Swoon! I wasnt born yet but my young sometimes sang Till I Kissed Ya.
man I wish I was a teen back then... beautiful voices.
Teen? You are lucky you even got to live at those times! I would give anything (Except for family, a house and my job) to travel to the 60's I wished I lived at time
@@scaryhaboob8951 I was a kid during that time. But I feel the 80s has been the greatest decade of my life so far.
Fabulous
today Feb 1st, 1937 --> Happy 78th birthday to Don Everly!! RIP Phil
Memories of my late parents keep pouring in just listening to the ever green songs
They are simply wonderful and amazing and awesome I love them

67 Yrs Old Is This Video And Getting Better With Time

Love the Everly Brothers
They used to live in Knoxville TN. Recently a park was dedicated in their name. Damn bustop! Hello Knoxville....a bigger park is needed!
Knoxville is 1 hr..from me
One of the greatest bands of their GENERATION.
No one then or now could or will ever match their harmonies. Shared DNA makes them unique!
AWESOME.
Really Great
WOW l loved them im only 58 but these guys blow me away😎
R.I.P. PHIL EVERLY :-(
God i wanna go back to 1955 and live life all over again
Phil had a solo The words in your eyes...truly beautiful....
I love the EverLy Brothers songs, awesome songs
Best harmonizers ever!
Amazing! ❤️
Great guys !!!
Fabulous !!! There is just something about BLOOD harmonizing that is different than two people who can harmonize if that makes any sense. It's different from artists who double track and harmonize with themselves. It's simply distinctive.
Genetic harmony can be stunning! The Beach Boys were also fantastic... however listen to the Beatles's vocal blend and notice how 'Because' (from Abby Road) proves exquisite resonance and timbre can exist even among unrelated singers.
A less noted aspect of what made the Everly Bothers' so intriguing was their regional accent and innovative use of bluegrass harmonic intervals in pop music.
There's just something about EVERLYS harmonising you mean. They are just unique, unforgettable, inimitable.
@@stewartfenton7660 Or that lol but I mean its like the BeeGees if you get my drift. There was something about having similar voices in different ranges that was unique.
@@tonithenightowl1836 hey, I know that very well really. It's just that Don and Phil seem to have something extra even on top of that.
@@stewartfenton7660 Without a doubt. No one sounded like them, no one looked liked them and they def had a style of performing which was their own. It was rockabilly at it's finest. In fact, imho they are responsible for originating it. I was 6 yrs old in 1959 and my best friend and I would hold hands swinging our arms and singing Dream Dream Dream as we walked down our block lol We knew all the words. My younger sister was tortured every time Wake up Little Suzie ( her name was Suzie) came on the radio bc we'd all start singing it to her and she'd cry. lol I've been listening to them for 63 yrs and I'll go to my grave listening. :o)
Pure Class
You could say two "Birds" with one stone!.....I didn't realise at the time, how gorgeous was Alma Cogan!
With the great Jerry Allison on drums. Best ever.
