Everly Brothers were in a pinch, but they made the best of every musical opportunity they had. In the retrospect, they are even more significant than I ever thought, believed, or ..... heard. Masterpiece vocal team ~ American, through and through
I should be so fortunate someday to stand between two gorgeous and talented men like that. This show features the most beautiful version of “Let It Be Me” I’ve ever heard the Everly Brothers do.
I keep coming back because it is one of my favorite videos and Pet sounds amazing with the Everlys. The last 2 1/2 minutes of this video always reduces me to my simplest form... 🎼💔 God Bless these men.
Phil is usually my favorite but oh my God... Don's little dance. Petula's voice also complements the two's harmony perfectly (which for me is a rare thing because when it comes to the Everly brothers, three is always too many. 🤷) And it looks like she's had a little crush on Phil... Not a mystery, though. But Don really shines here.
If you got to this link they dance with Perry Como's dancers when they play Bye Bye Love..it's really sweet if you've never seen it before. ua-cam.com/video/HafnILUlLeE/v-deo.html
I revisit this E.B. appearance with Petula frequently now that they have left us. Their beautiful version of Let It Be Me at the end is especially poignant. I've studied that particular performance and the camera view from the side reveals exactly how in tune Don and Phil were with each other. Their mouths are almost identical as they sing and hold the notes of the song. Phil was so gorgeous here. 🎼🖤
@s00z9433 - Yes, you caught that. There are so many examples of their precise synchrony. In some songs, the final "s" is sung at exactly the same moment. Sometimes they pronounce vowels just alike. In "Long Time Gone," they sing the high note on the word "leave" with their heads and shoulders in the same position. And there is a song whose name I don't remember right now in which a syllable is sung just two seconds before the beat, yet they miss the beat at exactly the same time. It is truly so amazing!
In that one live performance of "This Little Girl of Mine" and "Wake Up Little Susie" they did a cute dance routine. Don appeared to be the better dancer to me. But ya know... Phil was the cutie pie and Don was the suave one.

I love these guys so much -- since age 10 & “Wake Up Little Susie” (their 1st No 1 hit).....a long time age now). But, I’ve wondered why thru the yrs why Don let his hair get long & his bangs in his eyes??!! Phil is my favorite & his hair is always immaculate!!! Of course, they’re both very handsome men!!❤️😍💥
@sueadt8421 - The hair thing was kind of a changing trend over time. When rock 'n roll took over the world, Elvis, Ricky Nelson, and The Everly Brothers all had pompadours. Blink, and everyone looked like The Beatles or John Denver. Blink again . . . next fad. Eventually, Don and Phil stopped dressing alike for shows and even used different guitars. Times and seasons pass, things change.
The drudgery of being an oldies act. You have to sing the same 10 or 12 songs for decades until it finally kills you. And on such shows it is typically the same 3 or 4 songs.
@MostlyBuicks - I think they really enjoyed writing, recording, and presenting their new material along with the "oldies," but there aren't as many videos of those occasions. "Stories We Could Tell" was a brilliant album!

She keeps looking at Phil more often than Don! WOULD IT BE ME I WOULD LOOK AT BOTH! :-D
Phil (RIP) and Don, you were the cream of the crop, the best of the best.
They’re no longer with us but their beautiful songs remain for us to keep enjoying ❤
What can I say that hasn’t been said....painfully beautiful harmony....
I love these two. Irreplaceable!

I see what you mean; Don`s little dance. Both are beautiful men and melt when Don sings and Phil`s soft voice. Love the Everlys.

Lucky her - she got to stand between them!! My kind of bookends!! ❤️❤️
Nobody could sing better together than the Everly Brothers. Both are tenors. Don a Dramatic (2nd) tenor, Phil a Lyric (first) tenor.
