Hell ya and Semper Fi! I never knew that either. I would have thought it would have been a well known fact amongst Marines. They are lucky they didn't get sent to Vietnam. They were in and out before it could happen it seems. I just wonder how many years obligation they had , as in the video above, they apparently just got out of boot from MCRD? Can you imagine being in bootcamp with them? I don't think the DI's were nice to them haha they probably got extra punishment for being famous. True role models for all.

And it , like today was all about politics. Don leaned left , Phil right. They influenced so many great artists , the Beatles , Simon and Garfunkel, Beach boys , Stones.

The influence of the Everlys on other artists is profound. I still can’t figure out how they did the harmony. Their voices are almost identical, and yet they created a unique sound.

My dad was in boot camp at the same time as them. He was working chow line when one of them came through and asked my dad for more food. Dad said that everyone got equal portions. He asked my dad if he knew who he was; dad was a fan of theirs, but shrugged and served the net guy in line 😄

When I was in training in the RAF in 1959 we ate as much as we wanted. We could ask for as many helpings as we were able to eat. I'm surprised the US Marines were stingy. The Americans always had more of everything. We were very much the poor relations.

@@davidw.robertson448 and the Americans still have more today my friend, it’s always been like that.
I’m a British Army Infantry Veteran, but we who’ve served and those still serving in HM Armed Forces just get on with the job even with the poor equipment we are given.
Even some of the food given to our Servicemen/Women today is shocking, outsourced to Sodexo. Where are the Military Chefs we once had? Cut backs…….that’s where they’ve gone!! Always had great food back in the day, from what I’ve seen and heard from serving Personnel is that food is expensive and in most cases vile.

@@davidw.robertson448 I'm a Marine and I'm going to tell you how it is. The Marines get EVERYTHING as hand me downs from all the other branches (except certain aircraft and weaponry) and is a branch of the navy. so there was never any money for us. That is why they always taught "one shot one kill" because that's all you were going to be able to get. Only guys too skinny got extra food. I was literally 120 lbs and they told me daily, "if you lose one pound your going on double rations" and I saw them making other guys eat double (and then throw it up on the 3+ mile run after chow) and didn't want that so I ate as much as I could. and after boot , in the fleet, if you were not in the first 50 guys in the Chow Hall, you were going to eat lima beans and onions. no joke. they never had enough food in the chow hall.

shocking that one of them would pull that in Marine Boot Camp. That kind of attitude would make a lot of problems while in the Marines.
