      I think it's actually new to Safari, it was grabbed from Chrome (and the functionality is actually also improved a lot to match Chrome, in the past you couldn't re-open more than past tab/window/session).

      There are many factors in speeding up Macs. One resource I found which succeeds in merging these is the Mels Speed Method (google it if you're interested) definately the most useful remedy that I have ever seen.Check out all the awesome info .

    Hey dude I watched your advanced mac tricks video and it was really cool. I love the caffeinate thing I tried it for a little bit and it worked wonders, but I have found an even easier way to prevent your mac from sleeping in the OS X operating system. It is called HOT CORNERS (not mad just trying to emphasize lol) 1) Go to system preferences 2) Click desktop & screen saver 3) click screen saver tab 4) click little button on bottom right that says hot corners 5) Pick any corner you like and hit the blue button and click "disable screen saver" 6) now whenever you put your pointer in the corner where you put "disable screen saver" it keeps the mac from sleeping until you pull the pointer out of that corner then it will go back to sleep based on your normal setting. I found this trick to be extremely handy and easier than opening terminal and typing all that. Plus you don't have to calculate how many seconds you want it to last. You can turn it off anytime you want by simply moving the pointer. P.S. I would also like to mention sticky which I used to use on my Windows computer all the time but it always turned off so quickly and wasn't worth it most times. But I got my new Mac and instantly fell in love with the Sticky keys because it makes all those command, option, control, keyboard shortcuts a lot easier because you don't have to hold down all the keys at the same time. Just some opinions I had that I thought you might be interested in. Thanks for your time hope you took the time to read all this.

    Hi Snazzy! I'm still thankful to you for showing me the cmd+return shortcut in quick preview, to display picture grid. :-) I see you also have a problem with Mac's text expansions - from time to time they get doubled (or tripled), with older versions showing, too, while syncing to iCloud. Have you ever looked for a solution? I contacted Apple twice. They never found a real solution to this, other than removing and entering them again on Mac - which helps for some time. Cheers! :-)

    1# You've been able to do that for ages... especially on chrome as well as safari. (Also I feel like the command is CMD + SHIFT + T, shift being a sort of inverter of the usual CMD + T to open new tab

    4# actually really useful

    • @PeteKowalsky
      @PeteKowalsky 8 років тому +2

      Kind of ironic that it's now mapped to the exact key combo as Chrome...not saying Chrome is better...just different (but the same now, heh, at least in this regard). I personally use Chrome for most stuff, and Safari for other things that might not work for Chrome. Kind of weird since they're both webkit browsers, but hey...YMMV, right?!? :)

      +KiloSierraAlpha Didn't know that - interesting. Never was a Firefox / NetScrape user on OSX. Came over from the Wintel world in 2012, and had long stopped NetScrape / FFX usage except when testing certain use-cases for work... Regardless of origin, it's nice to see Apple going with the flow on de-facto keyboard shortcuts.

    Thanks for the helpful video. The reason I don't use Safari and DO use Chrome is simple: Safari has hardly any add-ons compared to Chrome & Firefox, and my MOST heavily used add-on is Tabs Outliner, which is only available on Chrome. The first thing I open when I start up Chrome is my Tabs Outliner window, and I make use of it continuously. I have not found any similar add-on that is nearly as useful. I can group tabs, move them from window to window, ADD NOTES. Basically it serves as my History and Bookmarks from as far back as I wish. The inactive tabs stay in the windows (but are suspended, so they draw no resources) until I delete them. They appear in gray. Active tabs are in blue, and the current tab in each window (if there IS one) is highlighted. I literally would be unable to function w/o this add-on, and b/c Chrome syncs via the internet, I have access to this tool from any computer on which I've logged in to Chrome. If someone can show me a way to do all that on Safari, I will happily switch, but for people who have sometimes hundreds of tabs open in a dozen windows, we need a way to manage all those tabs w/o losing what we've found.

    really useful! I am new to the Mac and I just have a question, say I have 5 tabs open on safari and I close it and shut my computer off. next time I restart safari will it open my last session? if not, how can i make it so that it does open my last session?

    Instead of using cmd + shift + T you can just use cmd + z. Just like most other programs this will undo the closing of the tab, or tabs.
