    48 year old here. I was told to use glasses for far 12 years ago. This was inspite of me reading everything on the board across the room. I did not use them on my sister's advice. Now I do need reading glasses but I still avoid it as I am a software engineer and know the keyboard well. I can see the screen very well as it is like a metre away from my face.
    One of the reasons people cannot see well is the use of grey on grey text promoted by Apple. There are browser plugins that convert grey on grey to black on white.

    Wow, cutting sugar out of my diet and cutting carbs has helping my focusing so much I no longer need ciliary exercises but I am prediabetic tho. I had no idea sugar was the reason I couldnt read shit in the mornings. Soon as I eat carbs for a whole day, the morning focus problems are back until mid day. Started a ketoish diet to lower blood sugar and low and behold stumbled across the reason for my focusing issues. The near/far did help but just about quitting sugar did more. STUNNED update, my A1c test shows 5.1 so I am not prediabtic, shows that carbohydrates affect vision or going into ketosis improves vision. I know ketosis eliminates brain fog and body pain and weight control but damn, much better eyesight and much improved dry eye. WOW what a bonus

      @G E T R E K T I was 18 back then with 20/50 vision; I instinctually new glasses were not the answer, and my research indicated through the Bates method the reason why glasses caused eyes to get worse, further, I hated wearing frames on my face. so I knew there had to be solution. It was through years of research trial and error that I figured out how to address the situation, even my eye doctor was shocked.

      @@LaurenBradburyFarm I had tried many programs to no avail. Through collective research I found meditation for thirty minutes a day was the key, once I mastered the technique after two years, I could control respiration, and other autonomic functions, my eyes also started to clear. I never used glasses since I was a mild case, second, if my eyes got tired I would look into the distance for several minutes while remaining completely relaxed, if I was tense, my eyes also suffered. Third, I found going outside and sunning the eyes helped improve vision, "at least two or three hours a day" walking. I realized staring at a screen for hours a day without a break caused the eyes to spasm. Finally, eating sensibly was also important, all these factored into my success.

    This is exactly what I’m doing. My optometrist originally gave me a pair of +2.0, and I am gradually switching them to +1.75, +1.5, +1.25 and now just changed to +1.0, for every 3 to 4 months.

      @@endmyopia Hi Jake! Trying to see if the theory is the same. I do not wear glasses but one of my eyes is falling behind. I am 36. I do work in front of a computer. I am pretty much fine unless my eyes are strained from working all day or if i have to read tiny font. The question I have is to the myopia theories work the same for people who have presbyopia and astigmatism? I don't know if it is intentional and i am sure a ton of people ask you this. But a good UA-cam video would be "How to prevent yourself from needing glasses" What do you recommend? Thank you!

    NAC eye drops.... this is what im trying to get a hold of. There is an issue with the lens hardening... it penatrates the layers of the lens and it can break down the disulfide bonds that cause the lens hardening. Theres not a great blood flow to the lens so you need a direct method.

    Ive been living in double vision since 2018. I can almost read the monitor sitting back from 3ft away. Ive been noticing this and wondering about presbyopia while having the phone right in front of my face by habit and not having to. At some point it becomes more clearing double vision than blur. Its embarrassing giving people these goofy looks and not knowing if they're eye contact

    Presbyopia refers to the lack of visual accommodation with age. That does not necessarily mean needing reading glasses. I got progressives at age 50, because my distance prescription was too powerful for me to focus up close. The progressives help a little for intermediate distances, like reading the dashboard while driving. But it is easier just to take my glasses off to read, eliminating the distance correction. In fact, many nearsighted people like me will never need reading glasses.

    • @endmyopia
      @endmyopia  5 місяців тому

      True. And also in general most people would never actually need reading glasses. In fact reading glasses are counter productive to keeping that lens flexible.

    • @thomasschellberg8213
      @thomasschellberg8213 5 місяців тому

      @@endmyopia Are progressive lenses similarly counterproductive? A number of years ago, my accommodation got bad enough that I needed them to see closer objects with my glasses. But my cataract surgeon (last month) told me that my accommodation was completely gone, so I had him replace my cloudy lenses with artificial lenses that focus up close. I use glasses for distance (over 18 inches).

      Slowly lower the reading glass power. Every six months, drop 0.25. Lighting also makes a big difference. You may still need some diopters, some of the time but ideally - less.

      @@endmyopia Thanks, I decided to use for now only the 1.25 pair. It’s definitely good enough. I’ll go to the store and replace the 1.75 glasses to a lower number. I just bought two cheap pairs of 1.00 and I can even make do with them as well. It’s just that without glasses I can’t read anything on my phone even if the text size is relatively large.

    I’m 36 and my doctor just prescribed an Add +1.0 but I can still read clearly with my current prescription at a normal distance. I can read fairly close without my glasses too (I have myopia as well as Amblyopia and Strabismus in my left eye). They sold me bifocals, however if I don’t like it I’ll have them switch to what I have now.
    I have a hard time with the test of picking the best out of two images because of how small it is (worse on my left eye).

    Hi, I am -2 but nowadays I just can’t read if I have my distance glasses on. When I remove the glasses I can read just fine. So I bought a chain for my glasses to take them on & off. It’s a bit too much though constantly taking them on and off.

      Seems fine! You could get an eye chart and a -1.50 (ballpark). Wear no glasses for a day or so if it's safe and comfortable, then see if the -1.50 work for distance. A bit more likely you can also read with those on at least for short periods. Not advice this, just thoughts for possible experiments.

Me being intermediate/distance vision guy all my life my focusing muscle sucks and the lens is stiff. This is why im doing near/far excercises and they are helping alot.
