You are a talented fisherman with a great voice and you are aware of the environment around you. Thanks for letting this 72 year old guy from the g south got fishing in ND. Great ride. The old professor
That reminds me of the show "survivorman". He would take these long shots of him walking way off into the distance, just for him to have to walk back for it.
I’m convinced he has the success he has because of his temperament. Cool calm and collected all the time. No crazy antics, just out enjoying another day on the water🙏🏾🙏🏾
Snow! hey my man I appreciate the heck outta you going fishing to share with us even in the snow.. Just starting to get a bit stir crazy here and these vids help.. Hope I can get a bit of fishing in this year.. stay safe and be healthy..
Again, love this type of fishing video! No annoying music, no too much talk, makes me feel really calm and relaxed, I believe that's what a fisherman really wants.
I know this is an old video now, but I just want to say that the originality of your dialogue is what makes this best, you speak your mind as you would when you're angling, "gonna head into town for a sandwich" that just sticks with me, you're just speaking your mind in front of a camera while catching beautiful fish, love the content and I'm always watching, keep up the great videos!
Matt, Your the best fisherman that takes us along with no noise or loud mouthed blabbers & loud obnoxious music. . Simply great fishing in some of the best spots in your area. I wish we had anything close to what you have in Minnesota & the few hour long rides to get to some of these awesome spots. Here in MD. we have nothing this good. Thanks for all the great sharing. Nice snow launch & it sure paid off for you on this outing. Stay safe.. Some years ago i spent two weeks there in Itasca County & what a blast it was.
This is a 'reel' (real) Fishing Channel! So many Fishing "channels" on youtube are actually vlogs with 80% of content devoted to self-promotion. 2 Thumbs up Mr. NDYak
Its incredible that a 1/4 oz soft lure bait can be devastating to large pikes and musky. Also the light equipment used put many a pike / musky anglers with their heavy rods and reels look like an overkill. Incredible adventure. Awesome man.
When I come across another video of yours I take time to watch. They are filled with the excitement of a catch yet very calming and relaxing. Thank you for not having head banging hard rock guitar noise in your video’s. 😀
I have never watched much of this kind of fishing.... let me say...MY GOD IAM IMPRESSED! I was chucking thru this whole thing,,.... could not believe the strikes and beautiful fish... that you released...👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Matt, One of your best video’s yet. When the fish are too big for the net is a major bonus. They were all nice and thick. In my region they are very scarce and considered a trophy. You had a whole day of them. I get to catch their little cousin Pickerel some call them slime darts. I enjoy their fight and mentality - alpha predator. I would love to catch a Pike or Muskie. It is a goal someday. I also like the fact you primarily use mono vs braid. Everyone is braid crazy. I am sure it has it’s benefits and positive features.
This is by far one of the best fishing videos I have ever seen on UA-cam. The camera work, the narrative, the editing, the scenery, the fishing, the quality of fish. You very well may be the first UA-cam channel I have ever subscribed to. Outstanding work.
Another great video from a great UA-cam fisherman. You have inspired me to start my own fishing channel (coming soon). We need more UA-cam fisherman who give fishing, and the fish, the respect deserved.
Love watching your videos , you’re not only a great fisherman but your voice and disposition are very soothing along with the natural sound scape ! Keep up the awesome work! Love the videos using your Grandpa’s old lures as well ! It’s been great during quarantine! Thanks
Early Season Toothy Critters are usually pretty cooperative - But one needs to know where to look; Clearly you do. You Nailed it Sir and btw - Sweet Launch ! Nicely Done.
Some huge fish for such a small system. Looks just like our local small river in Washington State but here we fish for steelhead in winter and smallies in summer.
Funny how the hands don't seem to get cold when your carching big fish all day! Thanks for another great video. Really enjoy the simple, classy approach you take on your channel. Your fishing speaks for itself.
Great vid , excellent entry into water, I’ve been buying lures from the Musky shop for Murray Cod here in Australia. New type of lures that they haven’t seen yet !
Thanks, Matt. Another awesome video. Best fishing in the United States is in the great state of North Dakota. Can't wait till the smallies and green backs start biting up there.
Wow, I’m really glad you decided to go out there too! Great video dude. Editing, scenery, fishing all spot on. Some terrific big predators in that section of river. SoSoCal
Agree! Best fishing on UA-cam. But now, also best kayak launch! Haha, that was awesome. Love the 360 search baits, smashed pike with it last spring and had some tank smallmouth crush it too.
You sir are a darn good fisherman! Like, yeah there's a bit of luck involved but recognizing and fishing in the best lake/river structures available helps that luck by a fair amount. A brave fisherman too because personally, I'm still a bit scared to put my fingers near those monstrous jaws hehe! Thanks for that peaceful moment!
Worth the wait but the anticipation was high after seeing the Facebook Photos! You say you are glad you are out there, but WE are glad you are out there!
Geat video ! once again it's a pleasure and it's changes smallies( that i love ! ) i identify more easily because there are pikes in France, unfortunately no muskies, after the covid, i hope to do the same on my kayak with my french predators, sorry again for my approximate english ;-) thank's a lot Buddy, take care !

It’s still a little cold for smallmouth here, late April once the water warms up into the mid 40’s is when I’ll start finding a few smallmouth willing to bite. When MN opens its season in early May it’s game on for smallie fishing!
@@ndyakangler I don't use a net just the BOGO grip, I do the bass by hand, unless the bass has a bunch of trebles in the way. One of the Smallmouth rivers I fish is full of really big Pike 40"inch plus fish... usually on the Plopper, violent stikes! It can get a little un-nerveing trying to get fish that size unhooked LOL! I've had to paddle to shore to land a couple...just to land a fish that big and I don't want lap full of treble hooks.

Good for you son. Nice of you to continue on the tradition!

When he does his launching scene, I always feel bad that he has to go back for the camera

Man I can’t tell you how refreshing your channel is. No clickbait. No “OMG GUESS WHAT I CAUGHT TODAY!!!!”
Just fishing. 👍
Too much of that crap on UA-cam these days
And he catches absolutely insane fish with complete calm and stillness
YES all I wanted was to see you slide down the hill in the kayak and you did not disappoint. Now on to the fishing!
I couldn’t resist sledding down the hill! I ended up with wet socks all day from splashing into the water but it was worth it.

No one on UA-cam can cast as accurately as NDYakAngler
That's just what I was thinking. I would spend half the day getting lures out of trees and bushes if I tried to match him.
