  • My friend Jacob and I head out to the river for a fun day of floating and fishing with the Whopper Plopper 75. Lots of bass caught and even a couple bonus pike get in on the Plopper action!

    Watching how you handle pike always gives me a confidence boost for handling them. They're such beautiful creatures but man I get a little intimidated by them. You display the balance of healthy respectful distance while still being able to hands on ensure their proper release. So much kudos.

      I think he uses nearly all 6' rods. These help with his accuracy where many of us, myself included, go for longer rods for picking up the slack better in the current and for making longer casts in clear water... however, after watching many of his videos, I've begun to rethink how I gear up.

    With the Whopper ploppers the action and size definitely is more important than color I only carry three different colors black for dirty water white for cloudy water and clear for clear water. I love them beefy little plopper 75s the sound and vibration they give off make the fish aggressive. Great video as always you sure tare them a new one when you're on the water I enjoy the beautiful scenery and fish that's why I watch every video. Good luck on the water and God bless.

    That stretch was very scenic👀 Thanks for taking me along👍Been awhile without a yak in flowing water here, drought conditions, hopefully the remnants of the hurricane last week helped my cause. Even though I've yet to catch a fish on the 90 Whopper Plopper, I'm going to pickup some 75 after watching this, looks like it works better. I'm kinda disappointed in the 90- wish I'd bought 110's instead.

    Lots of fun out of that marvellous surface action. It hurts when a big fish snaps your line and takes off your lure. In my case it is more due to the thought of the likely big fish death by the hook than to the lure loss. But that’s fishing.

      Same here, the lure can easily be replaced but I hate having it left in the fishes mouth.

    I know this vid is old, but I was at areservoir Saturday, and had a monster chain pickerel on, had him in my yak, holding him with my left hand, and I went to scoop him under the gill with my right he snapped my line, wiggled free and took my lure with him. Felt awful for letting him go with a lure in his mouth (he's feisty so hopefully he spits it) and the fact I thought mishandled. Feel a little bit better it happens to a pro like you. Definitely bringing a net, in the future because I think that would have helped. This is by far the best channel on youtube. All my best baits I've gotten from you. Keep up the good work man!

      Thanks Chris! It’s never a good feeling leaving a lure with trebles in a fish’s mouth like that. I think a lot of times they’re able to shake it but still I hate to have that happen. This stretch had a lot more pike than the spots I usually fish so I might have to set up a rod with a leader next time we float it. The big pike seemed to hang out in the shallow slack areas so I’ll toss my heavier rig when we float through those.

      You should buy yourself one for Christmas lol! Kayaking, with or without fishing, is a great way to get some exercise, de-stress yourself, and back in touch with nature!

    Just a tip for small net pike: try to get the head in them go from there. Once the head is in, you have more leverage. Bummer about the 75, but still an awesome vid!!!

    • @ndyakangler
      @ndyakangler  6 років тому +1

      If I could go back and do it again I’d probably do that, especially once it broke off and was sitting next to me for a second. The main reason I try to scoop them from the tail end is because I’ve had a couple pike go head first into the net with treble hooks and they’ll roll and get all tangled up.
