So jealous. As a man that loves fishing, but has no time anymore to do it, these videos feel me with both joy and sadness, but at least the few times I am able to go I am now teaching my kids how to fish and they are enjoying it (when they bite, the waiting around doing nothing part not so much!) but fingers crossed we can all keep passing down this great activity through the generations.
I have a Bass X rod on the way. Med heavy spinning. I'm switching to that for my 1/2 oz. jigs. I can't set the hook with a baitcaster using bottom baits to save my life in my kayak. I've fished my entire life, but that just hardly ever ends well for me. No problem with moving baits. I'm enjoying this video.
Hands-down the best fishing channel on UA-cam! Love everything you put out there! You’re a true sportsman, and a blessing to all the fishermen out there! Keep it up brother!
Thanks for the great video and some quality fish catches. You have some of the best videos to view for pike and smallmouth bass. Always a pleasure to watch. Looking forward to your next. Take care.
09.31 I really hope I catch a big Pike today.......boom straight away a nice pike.....you never skunk (blank) think I'm guna buy one of those Savage Gear Swimbaits for sure 😎 tight lines man 🎣🐊😎💯🤟
Love your fishing videos, very relaxing and enjoyable! The best out there. Would like to see you measure the bigger Pike. It would be nice to know their length.
Thanks! I always get nervous about trying to measure them against my paddle ruler, it’s tough to get an accurate measurement and half the time those angry pike flop off my lap and into the water before I can get them lined up straight. There’s not much room for error in a kayak. If I get one I think might be 40”+ I’d probably have to try.
@@ndyakangler Matt, Tyrant makes a soft vinyl folding bump board. Downside is you pretty much have to go to shore to use it. The hard plastic bump boards are the best but take up a lot of space.
@@ndyakangler how would a measuring sticker on the side of the kayak work? True, it may not give a true exact measurement, but should be able to get a good estimate and it wouldn't take up any extra space in the kayak. Just a thought.
Your videos are by far some of my favorites! I Pray that I can one day small mouth fish in your area! I also went to Tackle Warehouse and picked up a Golden Shiner and a Perch Savage Gear 4 Play swim bait that I can't wait to try out!
Someone else referred to you as the “Bob Ross of fishing”. I would LOVE to see you do a video where every time you show your face, you’re wearing a Bob Ross wig, and never mention it and act like it’s just not there.
It’s a milk crate I attached a couple pieces of pvc pipe to for rod holders and I added a sheet of abs plastic toward the front end as a divider so I can store a Plano box in there.
I have some cheap wire ones I picked up at a local store. I believe they’re South Bend brand. They work but once you put strain on them they tend to get curly.
Have you ever tried a sexy shad lipless crankbait? I have caught more pike on a sexy shad lipless and square bill than any other lure this season. Thanks again for the great vids
Just curious why you throw a 2 1/4 ounce swim bait on a rod rated to only 1 ounce, versus using a heavier, dedicated swimbait rod? Does it handle the bait well? If so, that’s good news because I’d love to try throwing swim baits without shelling out $$ for a technique-specific rod, at least until I get a feel for whether this type of fishing can be a consistent producer for me in my local waters. Thanks!
I don’t like having specific rods for every lure, I have a few main combos that I use that handle just about everything I throw. It wouldn’t hurt to get a heavier rod for swimbaits and a few other bigger lures I throw but the MH BassX handles them fine. It casts them out there great, is heavy enough to fish the lure and give it proper action, and has enough power for hook sets with the hooks on those 4Plays. It’s maybe not the ideal rod for them but it works for me.
I don’t really go by what the rod says, although with those heavier lures I’ll cast them a little more delicately. I go more by whether the rod can work the lure properly to give it the action it should have, and if the rod is heavy enough for the hooks on that lure to get consistent penetration on hook sets. The MH works just fine with the 8” swimbait but that’s about as big of a lure I’d throw on it.
I usually get mine from Amazon or Tackle Warehouse, seems like lately their stock has been limited though so I’m not sure what’s going on with Savage Gear.
It won’t work that deep, unless you get some custom crazy long stake for it. The longest stake Power Pole sells is 8ft, you lose a foot and a half or so depending on how you mount the motor for the stake to run through that plus distance between the motor and water plus 3-6” for the stake to plant itself into the bottom. I cut mine to 7’, I can anchor in about 5.5’.
@@ndyakangler Darn. I know that anchor is very expensive but I wanted one just because it’s remote controlled. I guess I’ll just stick with my regular anchor with an anchor trolley.
Another good video mate, perfect timing as well. Wife’s got her grandchildren over for the weekend so I’ll probably watch it again another 30 times before midnight lol
Kanalgratis has a lot of pike fishing content, both fly and hardware. Most of it is in Europe and some of it is in Swedish though. But NDYAK is still. The best.
Ah, yes. The infamous "Tree-fish". Once hauled in a 35 pounder of that very species on ultra-light gear spooled with 6lb. Trilene xl! Thought I was for sure gonna lose the lure! lol
As others have said: NDYak's videos are a *very* welcome break from the tone and tenor of a lot of other fishing channels. I myself go fishing partly for the fish, yes, and the thrill of catching. But the other part is the quiet, and being out in the natural world. Here in Utah we have soaring mountains surrounding most of our reservoirs, lakes, and rivers. When I was on deployment to the Middle East, it taught me to appreciate the natural beauty of our American scenery. Fishing is therefore a sort of nature-induced depressurization, and NDyak's got the right vibe and voice for it. Quiet. Smooth. In tune with the water. Keep up the good work!
Finally get to see you struggle to land a fish! Well done! You always kill it! I've learned a few important things from you that has improved my fishing, thanks!
You might want to look into the Deps Slide Swimmer in 145 and 175 (in used condition so they don't cost you a fortune). Really good glide baits for bass and pike.
I watch your videos when I can’t go fishing because they’re so calm and cool without cuts and music… it’s like we’re just chillin on a boat. Don’t ever change your format!
i have never had any interest in traveling to North Dakota until I started watching your videos
Same planning a trip this summer
Petrified forest in Medora ND
Or the teddy Roosevelt national preserve are some of the most unique in the country.
On god I’m deff going to hunt pike there 🙏🏽
Good freaking luck with that!
Haha same i would like to go eneywhere up north.

I wish you were my brother. You’d be a great fishing partner too. Regards, Cam, from Ontario eh?!
Nice fish boss
Daylight savings needs to go the way of the dodo
Great fish 🇮🇪👌🎣
Where you fishing. I live in western ND and use a perch swimbait too. The pike have been loving it! Great video!
hi from Montreal Canada man I enjoy your videos to the point that I just bought a kayak any advices for me before the season starts? thank you ✌🏾

Bro, can I send you one of my favourite pike Lures? Here in the Netherlands we love pike!!!
Hi, what is the box you have on the back of the kayak, seems to be a pretty handy lure box and rod holder?
It’s a milk crate I attached a couple pieces of pvc pipe to for rod holders and I added a sheet of abs plastic toward the front end as a divider so I can store a Plano box in there.
Nice videos, what net do you use?
What lake is this? I live in ND and appreciate knowing good fishing spots for shore or kayak. Thanks.
Why size Bass X rod is that ? You check out the new ones mine just came yesterday.
When it gets this cold do you think pike prefer slower retrieval?
What do you use for a leader?
For the size of lures you're throwing I think a MH muskie rod would work great for you.
I have one but it just seems like overkill if there’s not a chance of hooking into a 50” fish.
Who is giving thumbs down on these videos? PETA?
Is this stump lake?
No leader ?
What kind of leader do you use for pike and muskie?
I have some cheap wire ones I picked up at a local store. I believe they’re South Bend brand. They work but once you put strain on them they tend to get curly.
go for it

I did a collaboration with a company called Achigan to make shirts and stickers, those are available here: bit.ly/37vudQV
bassx mh rod. Isn't that a little light? The rod description says it is good for up to 1oz baits.
I don’t really go by what the rod says, although with those heavier lures I’ll cast them a little more delicately. @@ndyakangler Thank you.
What kayak do you use?
I have a Wilderness Systems Tarpon 120.

Looking at Savage Baits online...it's not giving me an option to buy? Is there site under construction? Thx!
I usually get mine from Amazon or Tackle Warehouse, seems like lately their stock has been limited though so I’m not sure what’s going on with Savage Gear.
@@ndyakangler thx for the reply...very helpful. Their product is really nice! Ty again and Lord bless you there!
How deep can a power pole anchor work? I was looking to get one but I’m usually in lakes that are an average of 15 ft deep.
