It's not that hard you just have to run away it's really not hard
Absolutely, it was the worst nightmare fuel ever. Also, the chase was so long! plus, with clunky controls it was one of the hardest boss fights in any PS1 game - and that's saying something
@@secondbestjojo1300 For people who were already adept gamers yea it wasn’t too scary but most kids under the age of 10 playing the first time shat their pants. Not everyone is as badass as you are. Someone give this dude a medal and a cookie he’s certainly earned it.
I remember I used to give up a lot. As a kid it was too stressful and scary so I couldn’t keep my cool, not to mention the clunky controls. The day I faced it with courage and actually beat it, I could hardly believe it. Was a good and memorable day.
The “buddy-cop” dynamic between Venom and Spider-Man would literally be perfect for Tom Hardy and Tom Holland

I still have a soft spot for the first movie game, but the larger spiderman/marvel world always felt like a better fit for Spiderman, give me more villains and heroes for him to interact with
Shattered Dimensions was my Spider-Man nostalgia game. It hold a special place in my heart, even if the camera sucks.

This game was my childhood, it’s what introduced me into Spider-Man and made him my top 2 favorite comic characters. Agreed my favorite part of the game asids from Venom.
We had this at my daycare growing up. We all took turns for hours trying to beat that level. Such memories
@@noahpearce05 wait you had this at daycare, yet there's that picture behind mysterio in his cell? Although to be honest, I played this all the time as a little kid, and never noticed that
This is also my favorite Spider-Man game. It's essentially just a couple of days in the life of Spider-Man. And there something so charming and unique about that. Yes the newer games may have smoother gameplay and more flashy cinematics and animations but this one at least in my opinion makes you feel like Spider-Man more than any other game.

This game was a really big part of my childhood, and although the gameplay and the story of other spiderman games are great, I loved this game and had so many great memories with it, this was really what got me into spiderman
Spider-Man 3 was the funniest game ever. I still laughe every time when people fail the qte at the beginning with the girl tied to the bomb

What sucks though is that nobody realizes that there's an entirely different version of Spider-man 3 for the PS2. It's actually pretty good, it basically just expands on what was good about Spider-Man 2.
I'll never forget beating Spiderman 2002 and unlocking the ability to play the game over as the green goblin with a new story and voice overs. Quite an experience.
Wait, you can play as green goblin ....
yeah and its fucking sick. you get his glider with guns and bombs. It's a cheat you type in after beating the game.
That's fucking amazing.
Thanks for reminding me of this, I need to go back and play that again, so much nostalgia

This was the first game I’ve ever played in my life (I played this when I was 4) and I think I’ve played it at least 10 times. This was by far the best ps1 game i ever played and if my ps1 still worked I’ll be playing the game to this day. Also the carnage boss fight was easy when you used the venom suit since you had unlimited webs and could just trap him the sonic sound.
The cameo on spiderman ps4 is nothing compared to the heartworming narration stan lee has here (both are still heavenly)
5:46 stan Lee is dead now....so let's listen to the god himself*cries in corner*

This game was my childhood game. Granted I had it on the N64, so I never really had that much dialogue between the characters as I had to myself. But I would remember playing this game over and over and over again, for some reason it never saved but that was never a problem for me because I would also try to beat the game one sitting. This is also where my love of venom came from as well.
Dude u brought back so many memories with the stan intro omg its been years since i heard it
1:55 damn those Mary Janes tho
This is what he was actually talking about when he mentioned the plot.
Lol I was thinking the same

PS1 was my favorite. And you hit the nail on the head about Venom in the game. It was really interesting seeing Venom try to help Eddie after the fake Spiderman broke his camera.
Even one of his quotes early in the game was "Rest easy Brock, Venom is here." I like seeing Venom being a monster, but I like the characterization moments for him a lot more.
You're treating Eddie and Venom as two seperate entities. They're not.
but arent they...
No. Venom is the combination of the Venom Klyntar and Eddie Brock. Eddie Brock is a part of this entity, it contains him wholly.
Yes, and even venom having a silly side makes him kind of more threatening. Like it really looks like someone that is loosing his mind, even when he is trying to do good. Not just acting like your stereotypical evil psycopath. His corrupted mind makes him almost like a killer child, and i think thats far more interesting than just a plain monster
What? What's that got to do with anything?
Additionally, this silly side is unnecessary. If you've read the Venom Comic series, you'd realise he doesn't need to be silly to get to be more interesting.
When I was a kid I had this on computer, and had to learn to play it with keyboard. Also didn’t know how to save the game because I was like 5. So every day I’d start over and try to beat it. Farthest I ever got was the doc carnage chase but never beat it
Same here, only ever got as far as the purple symbiotes, my friends and I used to take turns fighting scorpion
Same, I was so confused as to why the game would restart everytime I started the game on pc.
This was one of the first games I ever played. Nothing but good memories with this one.
The stan lee narration reminds me of how he used to write text in old marvel comics
Cheesy and full of pride. A thing of beauty
I'm already at full health
You are a legend

This was my favorite Spider-Man game before the PS4 one. I grew up watching the 90's animated series, so when I played the PS1 game, it was like I was playing an episode of that show, and that is still the best representation of Spider-Man on screen, hands down.
I played this when i was like 4 and its still nostalgic to me.
Stan Lee has passed, You're going to have to listen to these Voice lines now...
“A legend has left our world”
6:16 I’m dead. May the great Stan Lee Rest In Peace.....
The line “when Stan Lee dies” hit hard 😢
Mhmm :(
This game was such a huge part of my childhood. It was the first game I was able to beat (I wasn’t that good a player at age 11, ok 😆), and it was my introduction to Spidey and comic book superheroes in general. I was glad to progress to the open-world games (favorites are SM2 and Ultimate Spider-Man, I give some credit to Web of Shadows, but still haven’t gotten to play the PS4 game yet), but none of those would exist without this game as a first step. Thank you for reminding me how amazing it was!
Rino Romano is definitely an underrated voice actor for the character. He captures the genius intellect of Peter (maybe not as well as CDB, but it’s better than most let’s be honest), but he also captures the sarcastic side of Spidey, and it’s balanced well. Also, it should be noted that this game still has the best soundtrack for the character. The melodies match Spidey’s acrobatics and speed but have a lot of fun and catchy tunes that still listen to today. I really wish we got the tracks uncompressed :(
Mysterio's theme is an absolute banger!
who is CDB
"welcome true believers and newcomers alike" that opening always transports me to my childhood. The whole first few levels in general make me feel like a little kid again
this game was my absolute favourite when i was a child, like you said the story telling is just insanely good, cant believe this game is like 15 years old
Thank you so much for talking about this game. I absolutely adore this game.
When I was like 7, I did not have a Ps1 or a PC to play this on.. But the cybercafe in my society had this game so I ask money from my parents and used to go there as often as I could just to play this game.
I replayed it mutiple times and I knew every combo and secret about it.
Played it a few year later when we got a PC
I might play it again now as a 24 year old :)

I just recently tried the original Spider-Man movie game from 2002, and it has a lot of similarities. The attacks and abilities are almost all the same; you can even jump on people’s heads too, just like the other game! There also is never a huge open world to screw around in, you are always in a mission. Kind of a blessing and a curse.

One cool thing again is just how everyone is already set as a character. It just goes from one villain to the next, no origin build up for the main villain, it just keeps going and doesn't treat you like a spider-baby. You know these guys here they are. Venom was great here too.

Spoilers for Spider-Man PS4:
When you mentioned how Peter analyzes the situation to save as many people as he can, I think of the ending of Spider-Man PS4 when Peter has the choice to save Aunt May or Save the people of New York. The writers at Insomniac really nailed Peter Parker in this game. 10/10.

I personally prefer the more story based games, but Ultimate finds that perfect medium, with a fun city to swing in and a great story, which is why it's my all time favorite, that and it was my first Spidey game so it gets brownie points.
Nothing wrong with it. I just disliked it because it was just boss fight, race to the next area. Boss fight.
Ultimate' gets very tedious and confusing after a few minutes from not doing storymode and it becomes too strenuous other than that bit its fantastic..
Web of shadows came out when I was too young to get the cringe factor on some of the line deliveries . And something about quick time events you could accidentally fail , and just how intense and scary the symbiotes were , really just cemented it for me
This was my game as a kid, never had a ps1 memory card so I only played the first bit over and over, furthest I got was the train station if I remember right, going to play this again when I can
