Perms swell the cortex and plump up hair til it grows out. Something to consider. Body with large rods could atleast double the volume. My hair looked thick in 90s, 😂
I find dry shampoo the only thing that works as you need the grease for the dry shampoo to cling to and then it doubles the thickness of the hair strands. Is horrible though as means you cant wash your hair too much but if you can handle that it works
It's actually pretty great to get these tips from someone who has our hair type. AND again THANK YOU for using a live model with ACTUAL thin/fine hair.
I cried watching this video. Literally cried. There is so little out there on how to style very fine, thin hair and I have never found a video showing how to style hair that actually looks like mine without using extensions or a topper. I am trying all of these techniques!
THANK YOU for confirming I'm not wrong for washing my thin hair everyday in order to get fluffy hair. It looks terrible if I don't. I have more than one hair stylists roll their eyes at me and tell me I don't have to do that. I use a trick of hanging my head upside down when I dry it, then add curl right side up. I currently have a short bob that had been layered. I'm going to let that grow out and keep the blunt cut. What I really go bonkers about is when hairstylists head over with thinning shears! I practically jump out of the chair!
I also use the upside-down trick. It does make a difference. I must "back-comb ( called Teasing in my day) and this is a big help too. But I use hairspray and then fluff it all up some, and it does stay just fine. Brushing the hair from the bottom to the top helps too. Always starting at the bottom and working up to the crown. I used to do it the opposite and think maybe others do it that way too, but just going in this opposite direction for some reason, makes it look fuller. It is very true how with the point cut * which is fine* but when they layer fine hair it can make it look thinner. But some must have that look so it seems? But if one can hair looks fuller if it is not layered. It has been hard, for me as I have thought this out over trial and error and just realize that often hairdressers love cutting and they can get carried away. Ties change and designs of styling changes. But right now this is how it seems it is going and works.
Yes, I blow dry my hair upside down too.. it gives it a lot volume.. I also have to wash my hair right before styling or it doesn’t do good at all.. my hair gets greasy and flat very fast … When I scrunch my hair I also blow dry it upside down as I’m scrunching… makes it very fluffy..
Oh my god thank you so much. I avoid watching anything on hair tutorials even when they're on 'fine and thin' hair because the models always have WAY more hair than me. I just feel completely left out of the conversation and that nothing is going to look good for my hair. It honestly really really upsets me. I have no styling products because they never seem to work for me so I just give up. This model's hair looks like mine. This gives me hope that I can finally have nice hair!!
Oh yes, I'm exactly in the same boat! I've felt hopeless and even angry, looking the tips and tutorials for "fine and thin hair" where people with absolutely normal thick hair appear as models. I'd have no problems at all if I had hair like this, don't they know what the fine and thin hair really means?! In this video, I finally see someone with hair like me.
I really appreciate you choosing models that have very fine hair! I often see videos that use a model with fine to medium hair and then say that the styling is for very fine hair but ... from my experience it isn't really.
SO glad to have found your channel and to watch this! I got aggravated w/my EXPENSIVE salon cut and just started to "trim" and ended up w/a completely different cut and watched your channel to further "trim". SO much happier!!! BTW, for EVERYONE who wants MORE hair and fuller hair (I've got fine hair!), make sure and take your VITAMINS! Just by taking BIOTIN (Up & Up brand at Target), VITAMIN D (5,000 IU's/Day, Up & Up from Target) and taking a CALCIUM/MAGNESIUM/ZINC tablet (Up & Up from Target), my hair is GROWING again! It also is getting MUCH fuller! Added VITAMIN E (Up & Up brand at Target) AND my aches and pains of getting older, seem to have VANISHED! Just passing this along as it ma help others. My hair looks better today, as a senior than it did when I was in my 20's!!! Thanks again for this channel! You help A LOT!
Im 17 and was recently diagnosed with female pattern baldness. And to make it worse I already naturally have very fine hair. This video was very helpful, thank you
I color my scalp all the time and it makes a huge difference. Avon sells a powder in a little jar with a puff on the end and it is so much easier to apply to your scalp then eyeshadow.

I'm glad you chose someone with actual fine and thinner hair like me. Do you have a video on recommended easy to style haircuts at different lengths for this type of hair?
Yes I wanted to make sure that the model was completely relatable in terms of hair type. Often videos are made explaining these things but demoing on someone with full hair and that’s unrealistic. I did a video all about haircuts for fine hair. It’s right here: Haircuts That Trick People Into Thinking Your THIN Hair Is THICK
Wow what a teacher‼️‼️ She even directed us to click on another video, to see her demonstrate repetitively over & over so we will "MASTER" the technique, EXTRA THOUGHTFUL
Fine hair shouldn’t be considered inferior. I have a friend who is always thinning out her incredibly thick hair! In my youth, I wanted thick hair but by my mid 30s I began embracing what nature gave me. I’ve been happier ever since. The best stylist figures out her clients’ needs and goes from there. I like low maintenance & wouldn’t use the techniques in this video but for ladies who like to play with their hair, these are great tips.
Thank you Gabi! I was looking for something to do on my thinning areas of hair at almost 50. There aren't a lot of good videos on this topic. But the tip on using the powder for thin areas ... I tried it and it worked great! Made sure to watch the whole video to help get you pushed up in that algorithm :) Happy Holidays!
Thank you for your vids, my daughter is a hairdresser, and this gives me a bigger appreciation of the skills used, it is very cool indeed, and your model is as cute as a button! Keep up the good work, XX
The eyeshadow trick is good if thats all you have...I find having the spray in color ( root touchup types) work so much better and adds some body to the fine/ thin hair at the roots.
Oh my Goodness! Thank you so much for tips on fine hair. The haircut you gave this client is what brought me to this video. I'm getting a haircut in a few weeks and I'm absolutely doing this! Thank you
Such a beautiful hairstyle! It looks amazing, and that curl trick! You are so lovely and kind! Just found you recently and learning so much! Thank you!
You are absolutely amazing 🤩 I am so glad that I came across your videos while searching, it has been so hard to explain to a stylist how I want my hair cut and the style I’m looking for. I have fine curly hair which I recently had cut into a blunt bob. The way you elaborate and explain is fantastic. I’ll be showing your tutorials at my next visit to the stylists 😃 👏🏼
I’m extremely impressed! My hair is just this texture and thinness. I will try some of the blow drying technique and maybe the eye shadow technique. I’m terrible with the curling iron though!
Hi Gabi! Love your channel! I noticed in some of your videos, that you use hot tools for touch ups. How often do you recommend washing thin fine hair, and what tips do you have on how to extend the style ( or do you recommend styling fresh daily?) how often can hair take hot tools. Personally , I’ve been trying to wash on the 3rd day… but sleeping always destroys the style ( lose bun or not). Love to hear your tips on how often to wash, use hot tools, and how to sleep in.. thanks 🥰💋
Great video. I’m 69 & I feel like I’ve lost half of my thru age, thyroid problems & just plain old age. Ur tips are very helpful. I now kno to stop using a moisturizing shampoo & conditioner, which I have used. 👍
I'm 50 years old and have thin fine hair. My hair is cut in a blunt bob. Can you recommend a shampoo and conditioner that are safe to use everyday? Thank you for this detailed tutorial.❤
I’m so glad that you found it useful! I left as many of the product links in the description box as I could. Everything that I could find on Amazon is in there for you :)
Love this, I have been struggling to find something that will work for me! Do you think this cut will also look good on fine hair that is naturally straight? I struggle to get volume.
I've noticed powdered root spray works well. And also hair gel. Any cheap hair gel. Run it through while your hair is wet then blow dry with your head hanging down. Then spray some hair powder on the roots. And find a good hairspray.
Wow! So pleased I've found you on UA-cam. I have baby fine blonde hair, that I call it 'Lycra' hair, because it likes to cling to my head. I'm getting so many tips from you how to manage it, so thank you. I have to say I love the colour green especially the shade of your blouse and green eye shadow. May I ask which eyeshadow that is, because to get that particular colour in the UK is not easy. 😊
I am sooo happy to have seen this video and the other one about the blunt bob! I'm definately going to invest in a heating iron and a curling iron and go for that amazing bob ! Thank you so much !!!! I live in the south of France where women all have mediterranean hair, ie thick flowing hair and hairdressers just don't know what to do with me apart from layer and heap on loads hair spray ugh! I have resorted to cutting my own years now! PS love the hide the bald spots, I'll use that on bad hair days hee hee!
For people with gray/silver/white hair, what color eye shadow should be used to camouflage thin areas, such as along the part? It seems like putting gray-ish eyeshadow on my scalp might look odd.
The style looks fabulous. Problem for me is that my fine thin hair would never tolerate that much heat from the dryer and curling iron. How can I have this style without heat?
From all of us with fine hair, one big Thank you ❤❤❤ Also, I have a tip from personal experience...check your hormons, today! The answer to really fine hair can be that simple. And, you will know what to do from there.
ThNk you for this! You are so talented. I’m in Southeastern PA just across the river from NJ. You’re probably not nearby. If you were I would definitely go to your salon!
Do you have tips for keeping volume in long fine hair? My hair gets oily and the ends get heavy quick and weighed down. I have a lot of fine hair, would you suggest layers?
This is awesome tutorial. I placed an order for the styling products. Now if I just had 2 extra arms and an extra set of eyeballs in the back of my head, I'd be all set. LOL! I have hinted to (but never outright asked) my stylist that I would like some help learning how to style my own hair. I'm nearly 60 now and have never figured out how to get great results on my own. She basically ignores me and changes the subject each time. Would love some advice (and a video) on how to style my own hair using a mirror and working backwards. Do I not have the correct mirror setup? tools? Thanks!! If you've already done this, just ignore my request. I'll go search for it now.
Yay! Thank you! If you have any questions after trying it out, let me know. I will be doing a demonstration on cutting Jen's hair very shortly. Stay tuned for that.
My thin, fine hair looks better if I wash it less often because it's also very dry. I haven't found a good shampoo lately, which doesn't help. I'm hoping to improve it thru diet (lots of bone broth, collagen, and other supplements) and improving the health of my dry, rather itchy scalp.
Gabi, I am somewhat techno challenged with hair stylers, need to find something I can use to curl my hair. There are so many on the market and I am feeling overwhelmed. Can you recommend a curling iron or styler that will not damage my already fine hair and also user friendly.
You didn't show how to style the top front. The final view from the front looks like it may have been styled a bit differently. But I'm definitely going to try everything recommended. Thanks!
Do you have any recommendations for nontoxic products? I have chemical sensitivities so I can’t use most of the products I see in videos like this, but need to find the right stuff for my thin, fine hair.
Hey will small wolf cut would look good on fine hair? I've seen the cut layers round the crown so that might also trick fine hair in looking fuller. Wdy think?
It’s easy to make fine hair look full with spray, etc. What’s hard is keeping it looking full for more than 15 minutes after you style it.
So true!
Exactly! 10 min outside with a slight breeze and it's flat again
Perms swell the cortex and plump up hair til it grows out. Something to consider. Body with large rods could atleast double the volume. My hair looked thick in 90s, 😂

A hint I learned for people with fine/thin hair is to use dark tanning lotion on your scalp. If you have a very white scalp, your hair looks thinner.

Question, can you PLEASE do a video on your sleek middle part pulled back hair for THIN hair people? It's cake for thick hair people but for thinner people, our top layer of hair is not long or dense enough to easily do these styles and I can't get anything I do to STAY back and look sleek! I watched a video where you styled dirty hair and I ordered a few products from that video but would LOVE better sleek hairstyles for thin hair people! THANK YOU! SO appreciate your channel and your help! :) :)

Gabi, I am somewhat techno challenged with hair stylers, need to find something I can use to curl my hair. There are so many on the market and I am feeling overwhelmed. Can you recommend a curling iron or styler that will not damage my already fine hair and also user friendly.
Hi Gabi. I was wondering if you have suggestion for shampoo n conditioner for fine hair that is allergic to argan oil?
Thank you so much! Such an informative video!
Thank you for doing a cut on a person with actual fine and thin hair. More please!
Can you comment on removing the root makeup? Is shampooing enough?
Yes, it shampoos right out. I use the Joan Rivers Great Hair Day powder.
Love it! Thank you 😊
Excellent - just excellent 🥂
Ditto! Thank you!
Just what I need. Although, is there any trick if I'm gonna do this on my own
Amazing!! 🙏🏽 thank you
No problem! I hope that you found it helpful for you!
You didn't show how to style the top front. The final view from the front looks like it may have been styled a bit differently. But I'm definitely going to try everything recommended. Thanks!
Gorgeous!
HiGabi what is the tool/brand/size you used in this video? thank you!
Drug store, full face 50 plus list recommendation would be great- thank you
I did make a video that hits those points! Check it out here: ua-cam.com/video/zzx0JfzZ9KA/v-deo.html
Did u got s best results in hair transplant
Do you have any recommendations for nontoxic products? I have chemical sensitivities so I can’t use most of the products I see in videos like this, but need to find the right stuff for my thin, fine hair.
Beautiful work, great tips! Thank you!! ❤️
Hey will small wolf cut would look good on fine hair? I've seen the cut layers round the crown so that might also trick fine hair in looking fuller. Wdy think?
Great tips. Thanks 👍
