  • Hi pottery friends! Sorry this took longer to post than I had expected. You see, I'm recovering from, you guessed it, COVID! It got me good y'all! Two weeks in bed and I'm still not back to normal. You can still hear a bit of hoarseness (if that's a word) in my voice and can you say, exhausted?? WOW, no joke!! But I'm definitely on the mend.
With that said, this is a video that I am proud of and I hope you enjoy and try this ceramic glaze combination for yourself or are at least are inspired to try the techniques that I showcase.
I had never used the Mayco's Manganese Wash or any washes for that matter, until now, and I really like the effect that it provided so I’m sure I will add this to my lineup and experiment with this product...and of course I will share all of my findings with you.
I created my UA-cam channel to help inspire and motivate you, and who am I kidding, me too, to try new things, to learn and to grow. For those of you who are more advanced, you can skip thru to the parts that inspire you. To the beginner potters, please watch and turn up the volume as I try to provide you with tips and tricks while showing step-by-step pottery glazing techniques. I LOVE trying new ceramic products, clays, glazes and I'm not afraid to fail, learn from my mistakes, which always leads to successes!! Though I haven't really documented my pottery fails, let me know in the comments below if you'd be interested in watching fails?? Trust me, I've got content..ha ha
I've been posting a lot of Glaze With Me videos, as it seems to be the part in the pottery process that causes the most struggle, let me know if there is some other topics or questions that you have, if you don't specifically have a question you can also just say 'hi'! because I love hearing from you!
Many of you have asked about Glazing Brushes I thought I'd add this until I am able to do a more in depth video on tools, but I think this should hold you over. Some of the brushes that you see me use in my videos are from various Pottery Supply Stores, I have since purchased some from Amazon and Art Stores etc. and tested them out to see how much I like them...so far I'm impressed. I am sharing my Amazon Link with you for some brushes that I have purchased myself and quite like.

Awww, thank you!! 😊 My most favourite fan brushes I use are made by AMACO, they are the brown handled ones I use the most frequently and I get them from my local pottery supply shop Tuckers Pottery. Here is the link from AMACO, I use the bigger one and it's worth the money.
      www.amaco.com/products/brush-series-28?ref=2&taxon_id=398
I'm fortunate that I have a few shops that I either shop in person or order from. I recently purchased the blue handled fan brush from a different pottery supply and I don't really like it as it's VERY stiff, I prefer soft fluffy brushes. I took a look on Amazon and though I have not tried these brushed specifically, these look interesting to me and I have put them in my cart, I will share my feelings once I get a chance to see/feel in person: www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B004BN7WXA/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A1JCUC46F9QEFC&psc=1
I'm actually heading over to Tucker's this afternoon and I will shoot a Vlog and see what their merchandise is like. Depending on what part of the world you live in I believe that they would ship to US or have affiliates in the US.
I also purchase for Art's supply shops. In Canada Currie's Art and or Desarres are great for brushes, choose natural brush as it just hold more product than a synthetic brush does.
I hope this is helpful! and thanks for your continued support!! xo

Hi Miranda nice to hear from you! Honey Flux was sold out everywhere it seemed and I had to keep checking inventory at a few different shops which turned out to be a blessing because I found new sources for my pottery addiction...what are your favourite Honey Flux combos if you don't mind me asking...and any clay that you particularly love paring it with??

@@SarahWaltonPottery Sara, I'm only on my second jar. The first was backordered and I waited for it for what seems like forever. This jar was just sitting on the shop shelf :) Bmix type clays work the best for me. I've tried it on Laguna Speckled Buff and Electric Brown Clays and it just washes out. On it it's own it is a super stable cream color that slightly breaks a light tan. Super Pretty. I just pulled a pot out with Honey Flux outside, Mayco Rootbeer inside and the top 1/3 outside. Delicious. It's like a root beer float. On top of things, works like a light flux, not too runny but gets things moving. I've used it mostly as a solid color since I have been getting more into painting with underglaze on some pieces.

Had to come back and watch again to make sure I got this right. I’m going to try it on white clay and see how it goes. I do exactly what you do by applying the glaze unevenly so it crates such a variety of colors and runs!!! Do you ever use kiln wash on your cookies? I apply it pretty thick and it helps to save pots so much!!!

I order from a few different Pottery Supply Shops here in Ontario, I know they all ship but It may be costly shipping clay all the way to NS. The shops I use are Tucker's Pottery in RIchmond Hill ON, Pottery Supply House in Oakville, ON, Amaranth Stoneware are in Kingston ON, and i recently found Great White North Pottery Supply. I've looked at Sounding Stone they are in Manitoba and, one of my subscribers shared Sial in Quebec though I have not ordered from the last two. The Honey Flux will cause glazes layered on top to move,
But on its own can be unite stable. Also, having thicker (4-5 coats) glaze application will also cause running. Keep heavy glaze layering from the bottom to prevent glaze run off. Hope this helps! 😊
