Thank you Alka!! Yes it definitely is a lot of effort but I have to say it’s totally worth it when I hear the appreciation! Thanks for your words of encouragement!! 🥰🥰🥰
J’adore vos vidéos, c’est super intéressant, mais j’aimerais vous voir plus souvent faire les applications d’émaux sur vos pots . Même ce que vous trouvez raté, moi je l’ai trouve super joli. Merci à vous pour vos vidéos.
Hi Silvie, I was thinking about doing just that! I know I used to always take you thru the entire process.. I will create some in-depth glazing videos! 😉
Beautiful pieces, especially those beauties on the end. So weird how the temps can be so different between layers, hey? Thanks once again for having Sarah! Enjoy your MORE POTTERY TIME.
Thank you Audrey!! it’s pretty crazy the temp difference of the shelves and even the zones can have such varied temps😵💫🧐🤭 As my kiln is a manual I really rely on the cone packs!! How is your editing going??
@Sarah Walton Pottery Thanks for asking Sarah. My editing with Clipchamp is going well. I used it on my last two videos. They are basic vids but that's my style anyway. 🤷♀️ Off to unload the kiln. Have a great day!😊
@@CarettaLynn agreed, and I never intended to get the Warts, and try my darndest to get rid of them. I have re-glazed and applied a really runny glaze for the re-galze. Mostly successful in getting rid of them. Very curious what it is with the darks clay bodies that produces that. I too thought I just didn't get to a high enough temp.
Looking forward to seeing it. I love your videos. You always have such stylish glasses to go with your stylish pots. I'm trying the spectrum white and power turquoise on some bowls that are in the kiln as we speak.
the glaze combos are as awesome as you are! Im especially loving the last 2 mugs you showed...outstanding glazes! Thanks for sharing, take care and hope to see you real soon!
Love your glazes. Even the fails! Just getting my own studio up and running in Colorado. Have scored a used Skutt kiln which will be installed Can’t wait to get my own firings going. ❤
Thank you!! I’m excited for you…setting up a home studio is such a nice thing to do so you can create whenever you’re inspired to do so!! You’ll have to send me a pic once it’s all set up and running!!
Hey Sweet Sarah, I love your combos. I will say, I have had The Warts on many of my pieces as well, most times the dark clay bodiies. Mine have been mostly the Winterwood and I thought it was the glaze, but I am thinking it must have to do with the heat not getting high enough. I have often thought I should get new elements, but other times my glazes come out nicely, so I understand the ache in the noggin from trying to figure this out. As always we love love love your videos, and are so blessed you take the time to share your journey with us.
Hi KD!! So sorry it’s taken me this long to get back to you! I’ve been eyeball deep with getting my website up and open…what a learning curve that was 😅check it out when you get the chance! I’d love to get your feedback! I’ve updated the links in my description and I’ll be sending out an email blast (still need to figure that out!)
@@SarahWaltonPottery I just went over to the site. Looks like all your options are working. I love the "coming Soon" boxes/previews how fun. You have worked very hard , and it shows. Of course your photos of your pieces always shines! Love it girl, now to "Lift Off"! you got this!
I really like when you show the good and bad. I opened my kiln the other day and had a lot of flops. So it makes me realize that it is normal not to have all good. Also what is the number for the dark green you use. Pc?
Hi Andrea! Thank you, I'm so glad that my videos help. Ceramics can be such a humbling experience I don't think that non-potters fully understand all the things that can, and do, go wrong along the journey from clay ball to finished ware. So when things are successful we are extra pleased!! I use PC-45 Dark Green. 😊
Hi Betty, It gets REALLY hot in the microwave so I also do recommend doing so. It has a very high iron content and especially handles could burn hands. I have a disclaimer on my website on pieces where I use the darker clay bodies to not use in the microwave, and I place a card in the box that states that also. If selling at a market I have little tags with care and size etc that I attach to all my pieces. But thats all you can do, or just make pieces that are not for the microwave, like vases and bottles etc. I'm very excited for you as you embark on the new journey of pottery! it's a very humbling hobby...cheers xo
Well that really depends. Some glazes will move when thicker layers are applied, sometimes they are stable and don’t move. Some glazes are runners and give beautiful drips and movement… sometimes you can have 2 glazes that are both stable but when layered you get gorgeous drips…sorry that there really isn’t a yes/no answer…it takes lots of trial and error
I'm just now learning pottery and haven't even fired my first ones yet, but how do you get that speckled look on the bottom of some of your goblets? I'm love it
Hi! And welcome to the pottery world!! You’re gonna love it!! the speckles comes from the clay body I use 2 different but I think the one you’re referring to is Laguna 606, which has lot of speckles and I also use PSH 455 which has a more subtle speckled. Both are beautiful!!
I am not pottery person but I find your "epic" failure with warts actually lovely. Sure, you have to resolve the warts issue 😂, but glaze combination on the outside is lovely. I also love the pink on dark clay and pink is my least favourite color. 😂 Also, the last two cups are just gorgeous - they bring Arctic to mind. Overall, I would say great results and failures are only learning opportunities. Congratulations on retirement from day job and starting on this pottery adventure full time. And bring on the website!
Love it ! The opening and then the before and after 🤩👌 question: how does pink sunset look by itself without the other glaze? I love the color combo but I’m afraid that other color will cause too much drip. I need it not to move 😅
Thank you!! 🥰 I love getting feedback and it’s good to know that the B & A is liked!! I also appreciate your support of my channel!!! As for your question, Sunset Pink is brighter, none of the milky-ness that the Archie Base gives, but it is very stable on its own and really doesn’t move. 😁🥰
Thanks Tonie!! I was pretty stoked with most of these too!! Just a few that need a little help! Fingers crossed that I get better results when I refire!!
Soo interesting!! Cuz I can’t order from Euclids… I have to order for psh! Euclids prices are soo much cheaper than Psh.. we Canadians are used to a price difference between CA and USA. 🥹
I use alabaster on red plainsman 390 clay a fair bit and find it actually helps some glazes fit the dark clay in combination. Just don't put it on too thick or expect it to cover completely opaque.
Thank you so much Robbie! I appreciate your kind words. I agree, failure is a strong word, and I always try and learn from my mistakes or disappointing results. A montra of mine over the last couple of years has been, try · fail · learn · try again ...which lightens the load when something doesn't turn out as planned!! And there is a lot of that with pottery! haha xo
Thanks for sharing both your successes and failures. It makes it much more educational and allows us to learn about the intricacies of glazing.
🥰 Im so glad i've helped!

I also had the weird frog skin happen with alabaster over Kentucky mudworks brown bear. I refired with coastal blue over it. Turned out gorgeous.
Thanks for this!! I don’t have costal blue but I’ll try something else and see what happens!! Thanks again!!
@Chrisha That KYMudworks BB clay is finicky. That is the one I most often see Warts happening.
@@kdwalters4146 it's a great effect if that is what you are looking for, but a shocking result when you expect a smooth, svelte glaze.

The pasta bowl isn't a fail. It's a beautiful decorative piece. I would embrace it!

Does your kiln need the coils replaced? That would cause your temperature differences on the different levels.
You're right, I'm thinking I may need to get new elements...thanks!!
What is the brand of Power Turquoise? It’s great.
Its a Laguna glaze 💙

Yes it’s a Coyote glaze😊

Jury’s in... drink more wine, Sarah❣️😂🍷💯
Hahahah!! Right?!🤪
Not a good idea to mix glazing with wine. The bubbles on the inside of the cup(s) is called blistering and can happen for a variety of reasons.
Thanks for this!! 🥰
