  • Ann gets a new supply of AMACO Glazes in and tries them out on some recently created pieces. Many viewers have requested to see the pieces made in Ann's "Folding Pottery" and "Template Pottery" videos completed and glazed. Well, here they are in all their...um, glory. As Clay Bottoms once said: "Glazing is like painting a car. A car that's moving on I-95 in reverse. Its just a bloody mess". This is also a relaxing pottery video to watch while digesting holiday food.

If you don't have a dog then your cat will begin barking. If you don't have a cat then you are probably an overconfident person that does not need the aloof feedback from a cat and should get one)

      Hi Barbara...they are pretty crude but I’ll try and get a pic posted in the community section. Also, i might post that question (how do you fire 2 sided pieces) in the Facebook Pottery Studio Group and see what the other 10k potters use...thanks!

    I have been trying out commercial glazes for a while. I have come to the conclusion that I prefer dipping, pouring and spraying. I’m not a happy brusher. I am now experimenting using them over my own glazes and have had some nice results.

      Yes, Jim prefers dipping...much faster and covers better. I usually don’t do the type of glazing in this vid for my personal work but I’m an old brusher from way back...😊

    Thank you for providing this after-firing beauties. They are all nice; however, the folded envelope is absolutely stunning, as is the candle holder. Can’t help but wonder what the envelope would look like if the colors were reversed with the white on the outside, the blue on the inside, & the artwork on the outside in blue. Not sure if I’d ever have a steady enough hand to cover them without a lot of painting outside the lines. Great work!

    Thanks for sharing. There was a couple combos I really loved.....Wasabi with blue opal over. Spectrum Wisteria with Snow over, and Snow over Smoke! Maybe add Mayco flux to get a flow of drips? Great video and always love the humor (beginning about the misfits, because we all have those right?) LOL

    I’ve just started testing Amaco Celadons and some potters choice glazes. Celadons have impressed me with their translucent look (except Snow). I keep hearing that celadons are stable so don’t move and PCs are drippy. I’d been waiting for Marigold and ochre but they seem to have been discontinued :-)
    Thanks for this video.

    The vase where you used smoke and snow, I could see where you might have been disappointed with smoke portion on the bottom. I have used Obsidian and snow together. I am wondering if the oil spot might show up in that combination. I used both by brushing in stripes, thinking it might turn blue in the overlaid places. Instead it looks more like space... The stars in the night sky? I used it on Standard Ceramic 225 which is a tan clay body.

    Which porcelain clay do you use? In germany it is difficult to buy porcelain, that is not only useful for those, who throw. I use sothern ice paperclay. But I would like to try a clay for handbuilding, that is not that expensive.

    I am very inexperienced with glazes. How does the new glaze stick to something that is already glazed and fired? I would think it would run right off a slick surface.

    • @LittleStreetPottery
      @LittleStreetPottery  2 роки тому

      No short answer but when you refire basically everything melts again...the glaze that was previously on there plus the new glaze fuse together. Sometimes it’s not pretty though for the reasons you might think...
