@@LittleStreetPottery Satin White sounds great! I'm looking for a satin white glaze that will break over texture like I see so much on IG. Now that would make a great video!! Hint hint!
Great. We thought we would do a little of both, but didnt really have time and the resources to make other hand made glazes. the commercial ones came out so well, in the end I was glad we chose to do ore of the commercial ones. thanks for watching Jean!
Ann, I really like the pauses in your narration and the lovingly long look at your hands and technique during those silences. Somehow, this REALLY WORKS for me. Thank you both!
First....thanks so much for doing these...they are all excellent learning video's 2nd...your voice is so calming!....I could listen to you teach for hours!
I know exactly what you mean when glazing a piece with really deep texture. I found that using a big and really fluffy fan brush like what mayco sells. You have to keep the fan brush really full and that helps so much. Great tests! Thanks so much.
Hi Michele. Great tip. thanks so much. The soft bristles from the fluffy brush help to get it down in those crevices for sure. The good thing is that the glaze has additives that keep it wet longer so you can work it into the grooves easier without it drying on the brush.
Hi Penny. Hmmm...maybe I shouldnt give up on the cobalt so quickly then. At least on that piece, the dark color just seemed to take over. I was very distracted to the point, I didnt see the texture any more. It was like it flattened out the whole thing. Perhaps the cobalt would work for other pieces.
@@KatAtkinson Hi Kat. In my mind the whole point of the glaze was to highlight the texture, but when I saw the dark cobalt, in my mind it took over as the star of the show and left the texture as the secondary character. But of course it is all subjective. I am heartened to hear that others like the cobalt. Perhaps I wont give up on it so quickly. thanks for that!
I recently started experimenting with brushing on Amaco Celadon and Potter's Choice glazes. I like to layer them for multiple colors. I also recently took classes in handbuilding and carving. This video has given me lots of info and ideas! Thanks!
@@annruel9142 I agree with Sammy B. Marigold, Weeping Plum, Cherry Blossom, Snapdragon - I would love to see how those work on porcelain with texture. Thank you so much for making these instructional videos!
I used a cross hatched matt made out of strips of birch bark. I have also done spring wire flute cuttings. As well a line or rope made of hemp can be used to texture with. Slip clay also gives body to a form and can be excentuated with the used of glaze. However, I like simple fingerlines and ribs strokes belts or hair pick waves of course the swirls or a spiral.
We’ve used it on small bowls with no problem. It probably depends on how tight the seal is...some clays may attach better (less grog etc) allowing for more weight. Good luck!
Do you mind sharing what you used as a liner?

i appreciate a glazing video that uses commercial glazes. Helps me decide what I might want to buy and how to apply them. Thanks.

Those mugs are awesome. A nice balance of form, function, fancy, and simplicity.
I liked the Cobalt!
I did too.

I love how this series is going. These are wonderful!
Thanks Em!
Thanks for this video. I too fired the amaco glazes to cone 5, but they came out quite matt/ not shiny as I hoped! I will try cone 6.

Excellent information. Ice was my favorite.
Really nice clear video thank you! I'm learning more about glazing and textures :)
Thank you for the details!
Thanks. Good details & helpful info
Great info Ann. Shared!
Hi Kat! Thanks so much for watching and for sharing! I really appreciate that. Happy potting!
Awesome video. Thank you. ❤️❤️❤️
Just the video I was waiting for! Thanks Ann 🙌
Could you maybe do another video with more celadons?
Hi Sammy. that is a good idea. Are there colors that you would like to see or a particular recipe you had your eye on?
@@annruel9142 the other popular celadons from Amaco 🙂 - marigold, weeping plum, storm.
@@Pixel_moon8 Thanks Sammy! Those are great choices. I like the idea of bringing in more of the color wheel. I will certainly look into that.

Hi Ann ... thanks for another informative video. I always learn something new from you. I like the handle extruder. Do you know where I can buy one?
The link is in the description...they are great!
@@LittleStreetPottery thanks so much 😊
I want to try the Tuckers, Burma Rubber Art Masking Fluid. That’s another that peels off.
I ❤️ all of them.
Thanks so much Kim!...and thanks for watching!
I’d like to test the Glazy celadon recipe that you tried here. How did the review to come 6 work for you? Thx!!!
VERY informative!!! Thank you!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Can I ask where you purchased the tool for making the handles. Thank you. 🌞

How many coats did you apply for the ones you brushed on? They look great, thanks
Typically 3 coats. Thanks.
this is exceptional craftsmanship - are you a pro? this doesnt seem like hobby level pottery
Thanks!
Thank you Diane - we really appreciate your support!
Hi. How many coats did yoiu brush on? I did not see that mentioned in the video. Perhaps I missed it. Thank you
3 coats of the celadon and just 1 coat of Ann’s white liner glaze
Better check with Mr. Hanks about using his clip!
Hello, and thank you for your lessons. BTW, my last name is Ruel as well.....Wonder if we are related???!!
Interesting! If you have a lot of money I would say we are DEFINATELY related! 😂😂😂
Did you put a clear coat over the glazes?
Nope, these are just the amaco celedon glazes as they are. Thanks
How much weight can the dent puller hold? Can you dip a bowl using the dent puller?
We’ve used it on small bowls with no problem. It probably depends on how tight the seal is...some clays may attach better (less grog etc) allowing for more weight. Good luck!
Do you have any good recipe for pink celedon glaze?
No not really, try glazy.org
What is causing the black spots in your glazes?
Could be some of the underglaze I used to highlight.
How many coats are you brushing on ?
Typically three coats.
Thanks.. I see you mentioned that a bit later.. if a texture is extra fine would you still do 3 ?
Where I can purchase these stamps?
We made these stamps from a rubber mat...check out the previous video to see how. Thanks!
The dent pullers I have tried did not hold well.
Sorry to hear Carol...I've had to try a few too...I found the one I use on the counter at Reilly Auto Parts Store!
@@LittleStreetPottery Thank you for the tip and I'll try them with both waxes that I use.
