I think I understand something now about Lars, and it may explain why George likes him so much. Frankly I'm in George's camp; I love Lars, always have. I've been listening to Metallica since 1984, 5 years old, my older brother was blasting their first 3 albums on repeat in his bedroom and I fell in love. There are better drummers than Lars, technically speaking. There are certainly faster drummers than Lars too. But few drummers play as HARD as Lars. There's an emotion and an aggression behind every drumbeat, and even though he's drumming at half the speed of some other metal drummers, he's putting just as much of himself... maybe more... behind each swing of the drumstick.
People hate Lars because of the way he plays live, he skips entire parts of songs, has very inconsistent fills and double bass and he always fucks up the tempo, even when it starts well it degrades so hard over time that on all songs past the 70% mark he's Always massively off and he also comes off as a massive douchebag. I Don't remember who said it but in Metallica James assumes the duty of keeping the band in tempo through his rhythm playing because of how bad Lars is.
I can agree with that. Although Lars isn't my favorite drummer or technically up with the drumming greats, he's effective. He gets it done. You can't fake the emotion you felt when you heard master of puppets for the first time. Lars has been there for all of it. He may not be the greatest drummer of all time but certainly one of the great musicians. I have nothing but respect for him.
People criticize Lars' drumming for being "simple". And I can see their point. It kinda is. I just don't think that makes him a bad drummer in any way. You know what else is "simple" compared to it's competitors? The AK-47. Compared to many more sophisticated rifles, it's a dinosaur. It's also super-reliable and extremely effective, nonetheless. Lars is the AK-47 of metal drummers.

I think it's cool to hear from someone who understands music but who isn't a metalhead complimenting Lars. He doesn't have the insane standards of drumming that metalheads do and I don't think he cares if a drummer goes on a crazy tangent. He understands that the drumming works perfectly within the context of the song. That's what is great about Lars. He isn't flashy but he's as fundamentally sound as they come.
Yeah but he hasn’t seen Lars butcher the song live. He no doubt has talent when it comes to writing, but when he plays it live he waters down fills and skips double bass parts and makes countless mistakes. A good writer yes but a shitty player
I couldn’t agree more with what Garth said in his letter. The posts that say they hate Enter Sandman are not free thinkers. When a band is around as long as Metallica, they need to experiment.

Alex Thorn their latest album hardwired to self destruct and the album before it death magnetic are definitely return to form metallica albums, highly reccomended
I would like to see you guys react to Metallica's The Day That Never Comes. it hits home to me as a combat vet. It's on their Death Magnetic album. It's done sort of in the same style as One.
Kelley Rawlings I'd like to see them react to that and The Judas Kiss! That album is so underrated and mostly because people want to complain about the compression issues from sound engineers. The music is still amazing!
Don’t let the metal elitists try to bring you down to their hipster level - enjoy what you want to enjoy! Been a Metallica fan since the early 90s when I was a kid (...And Justice for All was the first album I ever purchased), and this is one of my favorite songs from them. Instant classic. Glad you guys enjoyed it as well!
First 'Tallica album was Ride The Lightning. Aside from LuLu, there is not a single album of theirs I "hate", though it took me a long time to warm up to St. Anger. Even Load/ReLoad are fantastic. Truly one of the bands that made up my formative years. Goddamn I loved growing up during those days when this music was new.
+Don King (Witchdoctor1) I wouldn't consider Lulu as one of their albums. It was a collab that they did with lou reed and seemed more like a side project rather than a Metallica album. If anything it was a Lou Reed album ft. Metallica haha
people love to hate metallica, its a trend. people who say metallica sucks really just want you to ask them what their favorite band is, they will have an answer for that. listening to metallica got me into playing guitar when i was a teenager and ill always remember that.
3 years later and I’m commenting. Honest to God, this song is AMAZING and is still one of my all time favorite Metallica songs. People need to realize they’re never going to sound like Master of Puppets again, why would they? Humans evolve and with that, so does music. This song, and most of this album, is a masterpiece of Metallica evolution. They’ll forever be my favorite band.
I found you guys today when I got home from work annnnnd I'm hooked!!! Mad props to you guys! It's so refreshing to see someone pushing for everyone to be open minded 😍 I've listened to Metallica since i was a kid and seen them live many times and seeing you guys enjoy them and your comments have made me rethink their songs meanings. Excellent!!! Keep killing it guys!!!
NINE INCH NAILS ~ You guys are always talking about how you're looking for more "fusion"; nine inch nails is a mix of rave/electronica/house with R&B and is largely bass and beat oriented with the heaviness of one of the FOUNDERS of industrial music. Start with the album 'Pretty hate Machine' for a more dance-oriented feel and it just gets darker 'Broken'/'Fixed' until a more perfect mix in 'Downward Spiral', but there are MANY top songs I KNOW you guys would like. For a 'request' to start you off with; 'Closer'.
If Atlas Rise had been faster, it would have been a great epic song. Play it at 1.25 speed and it is perfect! Moth Into the Flame, Hardwired to Self Destruct, Atlas Rise and 'Spit Out the Bone' are some of the best Metallica songs since 'And Justice for All'
I’ve been a die hard MetallicA fan since 1986 and in my estimation, the guys have managed to pull flavors from every album into this song and then up the ante with innovative lyrics and song architecture. Truly amazing.
You guys really need to listen to some Faith No More. These guys were huge influences to so many of the bands that spawned at the end of the 90's and early 2000's. Epic is probably their most well known song but to me, The Real Thing is one of their best songs. It's a deep album cut that highlights their musicianship, vocals and some deep lyrics that I've been trying to decipher since the 1989.
Yeah, those would be the more accessible songs from that album. I think we should ease them in slowly. Listening to Angel Dust first could be considered like a person who has never done drugs doing Acid, Coke, Heroin and Meth all at the same time. lol
*pure laughter of joy* George's reaction, at the end, towards that dirty, heavy, ball-dropping groove... Dropping his papers from on high... Respect, my friend.
This song is FIRE. It's crazy that these guys are in their 50's yet still creating music that's better than most of the stuff that's coming out today. One another note, would it be possible to do heavily edited reactions to Led Zeppelin songs? Would that get it past the copyright problems? You guys would like "In My Time of Dying".
That really sucks bad. I don't understand why bands, especially older bands, are so tight lipped on this stuff. They're getting free publicity out of all of this.

He doesn't have the insane standards of drumming that metalheads do and I don't think he cares if a drummer goes on a crazy tangent. He understands that the drumming works perfectly within the context of the song. That's what is great about Lars. He isn't flashy but he's as fundamentally sound as they come.
William Koscielniak exactly correct man! Love these guys and how they breakdown without comparing which gives an unbiased opinion.
Yeah but he hasn’t seen Lars butcher the song live. He no doubt has talent when it comes to writing, but when he plays it live he waters down fills and skips double bass parts and makes countless mistakes. A good writer yes but a shitty player
Haha, he's an okay drummer.
BabyFart McGeezacks okay writer, bad drummer
Metallica - Creeping Death, Battery or Blackened!
JFCBFilms Fuck yeah Blackened!
Metallica- no leaf clover
Hell yeah Creeping Death love 1989 🤘🤘
Guys, go early. Review Whiplash. You won't regret it.
Blackened!
DIRE STRAITS SULTANS of SWING
Lukas Kucera up
I couldn’t agree more with what Garth said in his letter. The posts that say they hate Enter Sandman are not free thinkers. When a band is around as long as Metallica, they need to experiment.
Have you guys listened to "Creeping Death" ?? Orion or Call of Ktulu by Metallica?
Patrick Rooney I
Don’t overlook “To Live is to Die.”
Patrick Rooney nah, they need to get to a lot of classics still.
YoooooGarth here (I messaged you on facebook and the posters came from Florida if y'all need proof). Man I didn't think you guys were gonna give me a shout out like that! I'm super happy you guys liked that poster so much. Keep doing what you're doing cos UA-cam needs more POSITIVE FREE THINKERS like you guys. Much love!
PS: Here's the logo and wireframe if you guys wanna check it out in a little more detail i.imgur.com/qmCiiUK.jpg
That poster is amazing! Do you do custom stuff like that? I would love something similar for my man cave! Thanks
Thanks man! I'm a graphic designer by trade. I just did this for fun but if I get some time in the future I'll take you up on that!
Thanks! That means a lot to me!
Cold Toes Industries how much to make me something lol??
Just make a badass youtube channel that I love and I do it for free... worked for LostInVegas lol
Domination = Pantera
Whoa.... I haven't heard this yet until this video. Sounds like Metallica is back to greatness
Alex Thorn their latest album hardwired to self destruct and the album before it death magnetic are definitely return to form metallica albums, highly reccomended
The last two albums are certainly a return to form. Lots of very good songs. Spit out the bone is one of my all time favorite Met songs.
Iced Honey is listenable...
Death-Flesh and the Power it Holds!!!!
PLEASSSEEEEEE THISSSSSSSSSS OR BITE THE PAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OR THE PHILOSOPHER OR ANY DEATH SONG!!!!!!!
As a long time Metallica fan it is one of their best songs
I agree, It felt great hearing such a masterpiece come out this deep into their career.
people love to hate metallica, its a trend. people who say metallica sucks really just want you to ask them what their favorite band is, they will have an answer for that. listening to metallica got me into playing guitar when i was a teenager and ill always remember that.
Nostrathomas85 I concur. And that answer is always --Megadeth.
lmao touché
metallica songs, so easy any child can learn
osgeld That's actually true. And I love that! Easy yet fkn perfect
same here brother still playing guitar 12 years on fucking love metallica
React to Dyers Eve by Metallica!!
I’ve been a Metallica fan since I was a kid in the late 80’s. I love it all. Yes even the load years.
Mike M Only a real fan can like Load, ReLoad and St. Anger \,,/
better the load years than their post 00s work.
Pantera - Domination !!!!Live In Moscow
Tool - The Pot, make it happen guys!
Cheers
Yes please! 👍
Please!
It must be done
100% agree
Talk about a groovy song, they’d love The Pot.
Death - Symbolic !
I found you guys today when I got home from work annnnnd I'm hooked!!! Mad props to you guys! It's so refreshing to see someone pushing for everyone to be open minded 😍
I've listened to Metallica since i was a kid and seen them live many times and seeing you guys enjoy them and your comments have made me rethink their songs meanings. Excellent!!! Keep killing it guys!!!
Pantera - 5 Minutes Alone
Yeah gotta do 5 min alone
CEMETERY GATES
NINE INCH NAILS ~ You guys are always talking about how you're looking for more "fusion"; nine inch nails is a mix of rave/electronica/house with R&B and is largely bass and beat oriented with the heaviness of one of the FOUNDERS of industrial music. Start with the album 'Pretty hate Machine' for a more dance-oriented feel and it just gets darker 'Broken'/'Fixed' until a more perfect mix in 'Downward Spiral', but there are MANY top songs I KNOW you guys would like. For a 'request' to start you off with; 'Closer'.
This NEEDS to happen.
I've been suggesting this on every vid! Thank you lol
Personally I dont know why they haven't yet. It's a crime to not do a review on NIN in my book.
Welcome home (sanitarium)- Metallica.....PLEASEEE
Dylan Lawson agree. They will over that tune.
I agree as well. Great song, these guys will absolutely love it.
You haven't done a Metallica reaction in a long time! You have to do: Metallica - Disposable Heroes
all nightmare long - metallica
Absolutely
Yes. Best song they’ve done this millennium
all nightmare long is a masterpiece
That poster is so sweet!!! 🤘
Metallica - Blackened.
Leebabins YESSSSS , I was just about to request it!!!!!!
Omg yes, now!
Blackend is an OG !
You need creeping feat or harvester of sorrow!!
Meant creeping death
I think you guys would really like "Atlas Rise" from the same album.
If Atlas Rise had been faster, it would have been a great epic song. Play it at 1.25 speed and it is perfect! Moth Into the Flame, Hardwired to Self Destruct, Atlas Rise and 'Spit Out the Bone' are some of the best Metallica songs since 'And Justice for All'
That's my favorite from the album, so good
@@guibox3 atlas rise is literally the fastest song on the record
Samford Um....no that would be “Spit Out the Bone”! And “Hardwired to Self destruct” is faster than Atlas Rise”
@@guibox3 nope, check the bpm. Just because it has tremolo picking doesn't means its faster
Pantera Domination, Cowboys from Hell or Cemetery Gates
William cemetery gates
Domination LIVE IN MOSCOW
Faith No More- The Real Thing!
Death - Spiritual Healing or Scavenger of Human Sorrow
I’ve been a die hard MetallicA fan since 1986 and in my estimation, the guys have managed to pull flavors from every album into this song and then up the ante with innovative lyrics and song architecture. Truly amazing.
Metallica for whom the bell tolls
Incredible song,Wish Metallica could give us more of this lane
You kidding? This was one of the best songs they have made in *years* and they're starting to sound like their old thrash selves again!
THESNEAKERADDICT this song just goes to ahow Metallica can still delivered the goods I agree with you wish the album was more in this tempo...
Richard Skipper spit got the best lyrics for social media society.
Gabriel Carpenter definitely
Dect Lariosa I agree
Well, I WAS going to go to bed. Let me just wait another 15 minutes...
I’ve listened to them since the beginning and finally saw them in concert about 2 weeks ago, badass live as well.
White Zombie: Thunder Kiss 65, some groove metal for ya
If you are a fan of Death and want to see the boys do the song Crystal Mountain UPVOTE my comment!!!!!!! Come on guys!!!!!
Adrián Olivas agree...sorry I can only vote once
I honestly prefier Flesh And Power It Holds
+The Man Among Men fuck yes flesh and the power it holds
You know what my friend?! this is sad...you know what I mean.
seconded
You guys really need to listen to some Faith No More. These guys were huge influences to so many of the bands that spawned at the end of the 90's and early 2000's. Epic is probably their most well known song but to me, The Real Thing is one of their best songs. It's a deep album cut that highlights their musicianship, vocals and some deep lyrics that I've been trying to decipher since the 1989.
philiposm i would like for them to just do some songs from Angel Dust, like everythings ruined or even a song like A small victory or midlife crisis
Songs they would love are Ashes to Ashes, Ricochet, Stripsearch, Evidence, or Midlife Crisis. Others too I'm sure, but definitely those
Yeah, those would be the more accessible songs from that album. I think we should ease them in slowly. Listening to Angel Dust first could be considered like a person who has never done drugs doing Acid, Coke, Heroin and Meth all at the same time. lol
"I'm waiting to not like a Metallica song."
Me: *patiently waiting for them to find Lulu*
they didn't like St. Anger
Ain't my bitch, invisible kid, the house that jack built, on and on
corrupted peanut Ain't my Bitch is pretty groovy dude
@@kirbysucks5001 I heard it, its boring.
corrupted peanut pshh lame
Flesh and the Power It Holds by Death is getting a lot of requests and likes every video! Can you guys show them some love?
"I'm done!!!" haha Loved it.
Shouts out to Garth! That poster is dope. It encompasses how a lot of us free thinking metalheads feel about what you guys are doing. Keep it up!
*pure laughter of joy* George's reaction, at the end, towards that dirty, heavy, ball-dropping groove... Dropping his papers from on high... Respect, my friend.
APC - The Package, I'm very confident you guys will get a kick out of this one.
Lucifer Isgood Absolutely. Pet would work too
definitely
Magdalena / Weak and Powerless are their best songs. And the best song by MJK is Potion, in my opinion.
Chaos Thierry led zep copyrights are airtight from what ive heard.
That really sucks bad. I don't understand why bands, especially older bands, are so tight lipped on this stuff. They're getting free publicity out of all of this.
Metallica-dyers eve
True metalhead here. This is the greatest Metallica song since 1988.
We appreciate you both! While I drink my scotch...I'm telling you, Damage Incorporated! Thrash at it finest!
Tyson Dorsey yep. Best thrash song ever
Tyson Dorsey me too glenfiddich 12 all the way!
Richard Skipper fight fire with fire with is fire except for the part where he says "fight fire with fire" over and over
Duuuuudes, that puppets poster should be your permanent back drop for these vids!!! That's awesome!
Thanks! It took forever to make haha
Lost in Vegas, much Love for ya'll from Texas! Love your channel, keep at it, you have way more music to review and react to, the list is damn near endless.
I will 2nd the love from Texas
What a wonderful attitude these two have in general.
