Disposable heroes doesn't get enough credit.

Or Damage Inc
Yessir! Top 5 Metallica song!
Favorite song off of Puppets
Disposable heroes is hard AF.
I don't think The Shortest Straw gets enough love.
It definitely doesnt

Weakest song on AJFA for me.
🔥
even better on And Justice For JASON with the bass track added back in...

80s Lars was an absolute beast. Anybody who actually knows how to play the drums and listens to Metallica knows this.
His later decline due to him losing interest and motivation doesn't take away from what he did in the first 10 years. Shitting on Lars is just a childish meme.
Lars was an abolsute animal.
That makes sense. I know everyone hates on him and I was like I dont fn get it.
Everybody hates Lars 'cause he helped shut down Napster. That's it, really.
Him being a raging asshole and getting sloppy on the drums are dodges. Lots of musicians are assholes, lots of drummers get tired.
But Napster made it easy for everyone to get all the music they wanted without paying a cent, and a bunch of musicians and songwriters said, "Hey, you know a lot of us make our living through our audiences paying for our music, and if nobody pays for the music they enjoy, we don't make a living," and since Lars was one of those musician/songwriters, everyone got mad at him, and since he's the kind of asshole to be happy to take the point on the charge, they got _really_ mad at him, and they're still mad at him, and if the _entire history of America_ is any stick to measure the situation by, it's clear that very few people really _care_ why we're supposed to be angry about some things, only that, when you show up somewhere, and everybody hates something, you have to hate it too, so feel free to come up with your own reasons to hate.
Everybody loved _Enter Sandman,_ and everybody really loved _Enter Sandman_ for free, and Lars said, "Hey, pay for _Enter Sandman,"_ and now everybody hates Lars. This happened decades ago, and you can still get _Enter Sandman_ for free, and Napster sort of came back, but everybody used to hate Lars, they still hate Lars, and they want you to hate Lars, too.
That's it, really.
Yeah that's some bias ass shit. Ppl dont know how to be objective.
man even during his low point on saint anger he didn’t even suck, it just wasn’t 80’s Lars. And he’s back on a roll with death magnetic and hardwired, he’s putting effort back into to his drumming.
And Justice for all was the first album after they lost Cliff, the original bassist. If you listen to the full album, you can hear what they were feeling. They were grieving, and they were angry. This was a therapy session.
That's always been my takeaway as well. This song just screams how pissed off they were.
and it didn't work, but I get what you are saying, the amount of "feelings" in the album is outstanding
i have always thought this same exact thing lol
Actually Ron McGovney was the original bassist.
@@harryhurd2474For very little time and none of his playing is on any Metallica albums you can listen to.
Merry Christmas guys!
ROB. I’m buying a ghostfret pro tomorrow and wanted to know what you think of it. I’ve assumed you’ve tried them once or twice because of your connection with Chapman. Merry Christmas.
Hi Rob merry Christmas!
Eyyy, never expected you to be here . Merry Christmas
Hello brother 👏 merry Christmas you smexy man
@@iforgotmypen6348 I'm assuming it sounds and plays like an ML aside from the different body style(and how that might affect how it plays), but I could be wrong. It's insane the guitar you can get for your money these days, I got the $200 Jackson Dinky JS22 in natural oil last year and it's an amazing guitar as far as how it plays, could just use some hardware and electronics upgrades but it'd be worthy of some Bare Knuckles for sure.
I guess looking it up it's got a shorter scale length though, like an Explorer. I suppose you knew that already and might have tried one out yourself lol.
"wheres the bass" I cry every time :((
Rosterized who needs bass
And jason for all
You can thank Lars for the lack of base.
It was his decision to have the bass so low in the mix.
Bark Lord of the Sith It was Jason’s too
What's even more tragic is if you look up the isolated bass tracks, Jason's playing on this album is phenomenal.

About the "proggy": this song has many odd time signatures. The main riff is in 7/4, the verse is in 6/4. That where you say 'proggy' is 6/4 + 7/4. Some occasional extra meausers (like 2/4).
Welcome Home (Sanitarium)!!!!!!!!! Such a good song
I’ve been requesting this song for soooo long
Absolutely one of their best...!!!
Ryan will love it sooo much too haha. It’s right down his alley.
YESS DAMMIT YESSSSSSSSSSSS
Seconded!
At one point this song had over 600 plays on my itunes.
My favorite Metallica song.
This was my Christmas gift this year.
Me too! And last year the guys gave us One!! Metallichristmas
I love these dudes. As a black dude who is a metalhead, it's refreshing to see these guys think outside of the box and at least try something new. I wish they were around when I was in high school. They actually embrace different cultures. I love the dudes.

Fun Fact: Blackened‘s intro was actually mixed into the record backwards
Oh, looks like I was a couple hours late with this comment.
Another fun fact: Jason Newsted wrote the main riff to this song as well.
One of their most underated songs for sure. This kicks ass start to finish
Its definitely not underrated among metal fans but yeah it absolutely deserves more love. Amazing song.
underrated by whom?
@@lucasguglielmone1432your average contemporary metal fan. the fact we’re watching reaction videos to our favorite songs puts us into the nerd category (proudly)
In a word . . .
With Metallica it's the Anticipation . . .
Alice in Chains it's the Relief . . .
Rage it's the Delivery . . .
Ministry it's the Revelation . . .
Tool it's the Redemption . . .
And with No Doubt . . .
It's Gwen.
There’s a lot of songs that don’t get enough credit and most of Kill ‘em All but this one is a song most metal heads I know don’t like, but they hate the albums past the 4th they agree is shit. I’m gonna get blasted for that. This song is good but it’s no Master of puppets album or RTL or Kill ‘em All, but it’s a song you can rock out in the car and for me clean to!
This entire album is a Political statement about how the people who are supposed to be "leading us" are warmongers and will ultimately lead us to our doom. "And Justice for All"...? Listen to those lyrics and think about them.. It is also another magnificent pieced of work musically.

I freakin love Disposable Heroes. Trapped under Ice, Eye of the Beholder, Battery, Master of Puppets...so many. My favorite playlist.
If you want a Metallica song with Groove, check out "Don't Tread On Me", "Harvester Of Sorrow", "Wherever I May Roam", "King Nothing"

+1 for Harvester of Sorrow.
King Nothing is like one of their best songs with groove to it...and personally I love Sad But True.
Don't forget the god that failed
King nothing puts me in my zen. Its a song you can wake up to after a peaceful sleep
Blackened is an amazing song🔥🔥🔥
The change in James' voice between Puppets and this album is extreme. Also, the lack of bass is jarring.
Definitely I would say his most angrier voice
how
He was pretty angry sounding in MOP though
Garage days he began to developp a tougher, more mature voice.
He was 24 then , in Baritones, and Low tenors , at mid 20's you have often a dropping more adult voice, darker, because your larynx aspect change and became harder .
This album is where James voice is at its peak, and he sounds the meanest on this album
I see a Metallica reaction, I click.
Ain’t nothing else to it.
C Tk i guess you could say Nothing Else Matters.
Sad But True
Ryan Lewis I’m sorry, who are you?
You like songs with a slower pace and a bigger build up OK.
React to Sanitarium then I think you'd LOVE it.
And happy holiday to everyone here :)
Sanitarium is the song that will have a chance at being your favorite Metallica song.

Honestly, this whole album is fantastic. Metallica had a fluctuating tempo that was always on rhythm. I was blown away the first time I heard this album in the 5th grade. 💯
I was exactly in the same grade!!!! I heard ONE .. and I’m 38 now with 4 kids and I’m passing the torch.

@@MyruleCatalyst96 Is that a codename for Psychostick's legendary "Beer" song?
What you have to understand when it comes to Blackened is that it's fast, heavy and dark. Fans like exploring all sides of Metallica and this is a perfect example of them at their darkest.
One of those albums that as a whole has a message. Stands true to this day even more so.
For the record: Orion is essentially a prog instrumental made by and in the style of Metallica

definitely one of my albums.
of all time
The riff that approaches around 7:30 is the backbone of this song, and one of Metallica’s most iconic riffs imo. So damn heavy. 🤘🏻
Yep, I was the most excited to get to that part, I knew they'd like it.
Disposable Heroes has possibly the greatest transition riff (joining the thrash and groove sections) ever written.
David Bright it’s a bitch to learn to play on guitar but so worth it!!
Yup they went crazy on their reaction
PLEASE give us a new Metallica review before the year is up, we need it
Metallica from the get go always had the clearest cleanest production sound ive ever heard from a metal band. Most sound like they were recorded in a basement or garage.
SANITARIUM is a banger!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please do it. One of my favorite Metallica songs. I wonder how Ryan would like Fuel since it’s faster tempo.
Love this song
YES! Lol. My favorite also!
Daniel Séredin I never said anything about what genre it is. I just like the song. Am I not entitled to have an opinion?
You should do Creeping Death. It's one of the greatest, most majestic songs Metallica has ever done. It begins and ends with a power that was once only reserved for Classical music. If you close your eyes, you can almost see the conductor in your mind. A driving force, powerful message, and a mix and production that make it timeless. Moses sent the, 'Creeping Death', and this song lets you feel from the Death's point of view. Truly one of the best metal songs of all time.
Creeping Death is also interesting in that it's straight out of the book of Exodus. I don't think Metallica did a lot of biblical stuff. I would like to see them react to that and the Lovecraftian themed Thing That Should Not Be.
This has become one of my favorite channels! I am a metal guitarist that learned to play by learning all of Metallica's old songs. You guys inspired me to Branch out and I've been listening to some old hip hop and rap. I was writing a song recently and because of hearing some really cool new ideas a beat I heard in an old Nelly song made its way into a section I was working on! I love it! Love what you guys do! Keep it coming!
While I really enjoy vicariously experiencing Metallica for the first time again through you two, you still don't know how epic this music felt in the 80's before there was a cornucopia of metal in existence. To be a teen during the dawn of thrash metal was a gift of fate. that only those that were there to experience it at that point in their life can truly appreciate.
Metallica is honestly the masters of syncing syllables with drum rhythm. Also, in my opinion, this is probably Kirk Hammett's peak technical solo, seeing as he really steps outside of the blues/pentatonic palate he is known for.
Yes! I've been saying this shit since High School. Even live they are so syncopated with the rhythm to the drums.
Agree. Kirk was so good in the 80’s. The solos on Hardwired are appalling though. What happened?
@@mydayis5 i dont know but that sweeping section in "Spit out the bone" is better than everything off DM
@@mydayis5 tbh, kirk is lazy. He doesn't sit and write like the others. As far hardwired, Kirk said he had all his stuff recorded on a phone, and he lost it XD. James doesn't believe it ever existed lol
it was this album that won Kirk, "Guitarist of the year", I think it was a Grammy or more likely MTV music awards.
God I love how you guys are progressing. Not much gets past you. You're even getting the lingo down. Your attention to detail, your lyrical interpretation & your love for Lars!
How have I never seen you guys before? You bring joy to me. I love hearing your first time with these songs.
This is by far one of my ultimate favorite albums to listen to. I hear the drums to my friend and I’m always playing drums on my dashboard to this album. I think it’s what makes this album. I love the change of pace and beat midstream
Hi guys!! Going by your taste and seeing how much you love Sad but true, I suggest you must react to Harvester of Sorrow!! You will love it!!!

Battery is one of Metallicas best intros
my favorite intro of all times
You know it's a reversed sample, right?
@@TheWitchOvAgnesi He's talking about Battery (which is not reversed). Yes, the intro to this song (Blackened) is reversed.

Metallica "Harvester of Sorrow" and die 10 times during the intro!!! Those drums boyyyyyy ...uff
These songs grow on you, they are so complex it takes a few times hearing it to fully appreciate it. Songs like fade to black are much simpler, same with sad but true, and can be instantly appreciated.
The intro to "Blackend" is actually James & Kirk's guitars being played backwards.
Suggestion:
(Welcome Home) Sanitarium
It's one of their best lyrically, in my opinion. Musically, it starts slow progressive/melodic, but ends with crushing speed that still manages to stay deep in beauty.

Please do Orion guys! Its the most beautiful metallica song there is
Yup
100%
Cliff adds so much soul into the music on Orion.
Or Call of Ktulu.
DaleDeekes arguably yes I agree.
Orion will give you the opportunity to see another side of Metallica rarely appreciated by anyone other than their true fans or metal elitists. Its a well written eccentric and layered composition that some may arguably equate with other classically influenced pieces. I believe how they were able to write and progressively grow within that genre had much to do with Cliff Burton who tragically passed as most of us know. In my opinion it's unfortunate how following the Black album they turned away from this type of composing to a more commerical, pop oriented, 4 minute radio friendly band marketing everything from lunch boxes to action figures. They literally became everything they originally stood against....
The Thing That Should Not Be....
@RycheForOrder I think they've struck a good balance of what they WANT to do vs. what the fans will buy. They've had a pretty good finger on the pulse so far. That said I agree with you; everything since MASTER or even AJFA has become less compositional and more of a pop release.
U wanna hear a different side of Metallica? That's not Orion. Low Man's Lyric is Metallicas other side

Anyone who doesn't like Sad but True is just weird. Metallica has an amazing discog. Their groove is amazing on so many levels. Also, Saint Anger is not trash but it's not their best by any margin. The recording sounds are just odd, and most famously the snare drum from Lars is very off putting. The album they came out with after was much better Title Death Magnetic. And honestly their newest album is a very nice return to form. Probably the best album they have put out in many years.
Please do Soilwork. Any song from their collection would be worth it. but especially anything from The Living Infinite.
If any other band would have put out St. Anger it would have been considered at least mediocre. But for a Metallica album, when compared to their other work it was just poor.
And when you compare their new album to stuff like load, reload, and St. Anger, of course their new album are good. But people want the same heavy metal/thrash vibe of their old albums. Personally I don't understand the hate, but to each their own. You can't compare their new stuff to their old stuff. It's a weak argument to make for why the albums aren't good because realistically they aren't even in the same genres.
St anger just had bad production

@@mattjones4285 agreed. Dyers Eve is my favourite song on this album. As much as Jason is not really featured on this album it is so technically perfect it's hard not to love it.
Do domination by pantera, but the one from Moscow because the ending is truly insane
Best version ever of Domination!!!
@@gregarnone best live song ever!!!!! lol they killed it!!! i remember when I saw it for the first time on their vulgar home videos in the 90's!!!
After Domination please do 5 Minutes Alone. The definitive Pantera song!
They’re not gunna do pantera again with phil in it
@@seansmith3131 bummer. curious how you know for sure? is it because of all of his racist BS over the years?
I remember buying this CD, bringing it home from the record store, opening it up & popping in into the disc player. I put my headphones on, pressed play, and was blown away by this track.
I literally cried...
I can only imagine how it would have sounded if they weren't hazing Jason by dropping his base.
Why does this make me so happy?! I was smiling watching yall's reaction. In a way it reminds me of the first time I heard Blackened. I really appreciate the open mindedness
George seems drunk as hell. 😂. I love it.
THEY HAVE
A BUZZ LOVE IT
Dj Bazinet they are wearing merry hoho hats, they get a pass on Christmas Eve
Ryan is a little lit up too. Love you guys. Merry Christmas!
