      It was sort of raspy from the alcohol and smoking and why it's cleaner today being sober over a decade. But at least he can still pull it out of his hat of tricks, need be.

      Thebiggestbeast111 Uh no dude, it's called getting older.

    • @Thebiggestbeast111
      @Thebiggestbeast111 7 років тому

      His voice changed once he sobered up back in 01/02. If you don't notice that, well, you should probably get a new set of ears.

    • @Travbedaman.
      @Travbedaman. 7 років тому

      Thebiggestbeast111 Oh I definitely hear it, but your reason why it's changed is just simply dumb. His voice changed a lot from mid eighties to late nineties way before dude got sober, cause you know that's how getting older works. If you think the reason he sounds different now compared to mid 80's is due to him not smoking and drinking heavily, then you might wanna do some research into what the aging process does to the human body, which includes the vocal cords.

    • @elmoblatch9787
      @elmoblatch9787 7 років тому +4

      Abusing the body with smoking and drinking unquestionably affects the vocals. Not only that, abuse works in more insidious ways -- robbing singers of the energy, motivation, and inspiration to practice their craft. Of course aging affects singing, but aging plus abuse adds up to declining vocals. Hetfield has clearly taken care of himself. He has even lost some weight, which helps the diaphragm.

    I personally feel like this was the answer to the picky fans questions as to whether they can still play stuff like they used to. Metallica's answer was "Yes we can, we just don't want to."

    In my opinion: One of Metallica's best songs, not since Justice or Puppets or anything like that, one of their best, period.
    I love pretty much everything about this song: The vocals, the lyrics, the riffs, the bass and the drums.
    Everything is just on point. We get fast, melodic, slow & heavy all in this one song and it all sounds magnificent.
    The melodic lead and the part right after with vocals ("Stop breathing and dedicate to me!") is SO good and SO beautiful in an otherwise heavy, gritty song but it still fits in so well. This track left me speechless and wanting more, which arguably is exactly what a closing song is supposed to do.

    • @atstrategist
      @atstrategist 7 років тому +13

      Kebbe94 This track is pretty much metallica saying: we still got it, let us try stuff and we'll be back with thrash now and then.

      The "stop breathing" part gave me chills! Best part for me. I only wish it didn't break down (tempo-wise) right after that. Feel like this part of the song is a little of fat that could be trimmed. But then Kirk's second solo comes in blows me away. Unbelievable song.

      I don’t think they ever lost their way I just think that musicianship wise they wanted to try other things styles tastes etc. this song Caps the album off and kind of proves that they never lost the ability for thrash and I do truly think that in this time there at the point of just making musicThey want to hear because there isn’t any really good bands out there doing this kind of music anymore there is a small handful but the music scene has changed so much that I think they are just in their own bubble and I are like fuck it let’s see if anyone else still likes this stuff and the answer is yes yes we do but no one does it quite as well as they do. My biggest imperfection with other bands is the music is OK but the singing or the voice is usually generally middle of the road sound wise they may have a good grimy soul but they can’t really sing hold a note And they’re all in drop D or D tuning What happened to good singing with good music? Metallica Still combines of them both well and a lot of other bands just stick with the cookie monster voice which is OK but I personally like to hear real singing with kick ass riffs once in a while

      @TheLotusManFILMs. 7 років тому +5

      I really hate his drumming on the first Riff, snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare snare, it's dogshit, a talented drummer would pummel that to bits with a double bass and it would sound awesome, instead he's taking weight away from it. There's a few other crappy drumming bits on the album like the plastic weightless 'toms' on 'Now that were dead', and the excessive use of the snare on Atlas ...he does a 16 beat snare fill at one point. beside the few shitty bits, I am really enjoying the album.

    This song may actually go down as one of the best hard rock/metal/heavy metal/thrash metal however you wanna classify it as EVER. Literally every single thing about this song is amazing, the mix, the arrangement, the lyrics and vocals, the tempo, everything flows so well together it's literally like God made this himself. It's literally like a mix of every #1 hit song from each of their albums combined. I can't even fully describe how this song kicks so much ass. While its hard to compare a new badass song to an older hit, especially people who just automatically assume Master is their best song ever, but you really have to look at both evenly. Because this may very well be close to their best song ever.

    Spit Out The Bone sounds like a song that was written during the 80's but for some reason was forgotten until discovered again in 2016. If I would put it in an album it would probably fit the most in ...And Justice For All I think, young James (pre-Jason era) wouldn't have been able to sing it as well I think.
    Truly an amazing song, and I can't wait to hear it performed live and I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes a new staple in their setlists like Master of Puppets and Seek and Destroy.

    So many styles of Metallica packed into one song, you can see the influence from Ride, Justice and clearly some Magnetic. Its effective, it's trashy, great lyrics and a lot of changes.
    Love it, one of the best songs of Hardwire for sure.

    You can't really tie this to any one song or even album from their past. To me, this song is the magnum opus of their collective evolution over the past 35 years. It combines some of their best from across the years melded so well with a flavor of modern American metal that they haven't really shown before. I have been a fan of the older stuff for a long time, but I believe this is a new peak. It was a long time coming, but this album was worth the wait!
    A thought that struck me after several more listens. In Kirk's second solo each time the solo shifts it's like he's moving through styles of the early albums. kill em all, lightning, puppets, justice, black and then a melodic newer modern style. Thoughts?

      Born to the Vulcan Sarek and the human Amanda Grayson, Spock had a troubled childhood due to his mixed heritage. On his homeworld, he was repeatedly bullied and tormented by full-blooded Vulcan children, who wished to incite the emotions of his human nature. For a time, he grew up alongside his older half-brother Sybok, until the older brother was cast out for rejecting logic.
      Sarek supported Spock's scientific learning and his application to the Vulcan Science Academy. However, Spock was rejected his acceptance into the Vulcan Science Academy on the basis that they would never fully accept someone who was only half-Vulcan. Because Spock did not enter the VSA, and sought to join Starfleet instead, he did not speak to his father for the following 18 years.
      And the name's Kurt goddamit.

    A few weeks ago an old friend of mine asked if I had heard the new Metallica. I said yeah, it's pretty good, I heard it on the radio. Hardwired? He said no, Moth into flame. I'll fwd you the video, I know you were a huge Metallica fan back in high school..pre-black.. you're gonna love this shit. I watched it and holy fuck... I probably watched that video 10 fucking times. Then atlas rise video released.. I immediately got on amazon and pre ordered the album. I have not taken the cd out of my truck since. Me and my 11 yr old twins have been jamming to it on their way to school, on my way to work. I cannot pick a favorite off this album. Halo on fire definitely is in there, that is a so well put together song and the ending is just fucking awesome! Spit out the bone is definitely a mixture of old thrash Metallica with a little new twist to it. But this album kicks FUCKING ASS!!!!!! To the legends of Metallica, huge thumbs up guys! Best fucking shit I've listened to since Dystopia. I love that 2 of my favorite bands (maybe after Mastodon and Tool) have returned with such good albums. Freaking love it man, this song is one of their best EVER, just as good as the top songs of their first albums. The fast parts also remind me of bands like Exodus and Overkill, which is a great thing! So impressed, specially after hearing the other slow-paced songs (which I also enjoyed btw, even tho it seems not everyone did). 8/10 Album, 11/10 song.

    No kidding about James singing "Spit out the bone". I was expecting him to go, "SPIT OUT THE BONE'AAAHHH!" Instead we got something closer to his 80's vocal style. Not exactly the old James Hetfield bark I wanted to hear, but close enough.

    To me it sounds like a song that could have been on an EP in between Master and Justice, with Cliff still in the band, just before he left us. Just throwing it out there.....
    One of their best things in 30 years - which, to my ears anyway, goes to show that if Metallica still "wanted" to be a full on thrash band then they would still be the kings of thrash. But, as we all know, they don't want to be limited to just being a thrash band anymore.

No acting drama and extra's to get views or wanting to be extra funny or whatever (I'm not gonna name the channels who over-reacting, haha) But just a genuine reaction of a Metallica fan hearing the song for the first time and pays attention to every chorus and verse and riffs & stuff and just being excited the tallica boys can still put out some good thrash metal just as youre reaction on Hardwired, wich you just looked nervous because you were so pumped for hopefully a killer song and that made it real genuine. Thrash Machine yes I have lol I eat, sleep, breathe, and bleed Metallica, but the problem with Death Magnetic was the production value, the tones of the instruments, and there was no reverb on James's vocals. Yes it was a drastic return to form after St. Anger... Death Magnetic is a thrashy album dont get me wrong, but again, the album is raw, not just St. Anger raw, but more of an And Justice For All type of raw, where the vocals overtakes the record.

      Tiziano Rabufetti Cause it's Metallica, I know what you mean but that's what divides then from Megadeth. To me they' re music serves more of a purpose then "selling out to the fans". At this point they do what they cause when it comes to making music, it's all about the riff and delivering it with not so much as speed but power, ya know.

    • @chsims7032
      @chsims7032 7 років тому

      Tiziano Rabufetti because they're not Slayer. Not every song needs to be a speed fest or full of ass-kicking aggression. Slayer's act is very stale, whereas Metallica does what they want and they generally have excelled at it. I like the variety they offer in an album.
