I have had my bike for almost a year now. When I took it in for the 4000 mile service and they synchronized the throttle bodies, which they had supposedly done at the 1000 mile service, but after the 4000 mile service the acceleration is smooth and the throttle jerk is gone. Except the bike is not quite as radical as it was when it was new, which was also kind of fun. 2016 GSX-S 1000. P.S. I bought the bike for $8000 Plus freight and set up, in Santa Clara California.
I bought my GSX-S1000 on the last day in Feb. I bought the 2016 and they gave me $2500 off and 0% for 3 years. It was so worth it. I love this bike! Haven't done anything but change out the tires and have the suspension professionally tuned. The suspension setup was so worth it! I think I will get the PC V at some point however after about 3k miles my throttle has smoothed out!
Suzuki is about the only motorcycle company that offers 0% (which I got as well). It's just icing on the cake. The GSXS has so many more features than a Ducati monster for example, yet costs thousands less. These bikes are one of the best values period!
Yes 2018 and now 2019 also have the same issue. I have the Z version and it's downright dangerous to ride slowly and with constant speed. I've ordered my PC V and also putting a G2 Throttle Tamer on. Thanks for the video, as long as they keep making the GSX S1000 vids like this will remain relevant.
been going crazy over deciding getting a very lightly used 2016 GSXS 1000F, or a well-used, but well-maintained 2007 Tuono Factory (I had an RSV 1000 R with forged wheels and ohlins, one of the best bikes I've ever had) and this makes my next purchasing decision way easier. Thanks for the vid, will have to test-ride the GSXS now!
@@PNW_Sportbike_Life so I just test rode a 2016 GSXS...the bike is insanely light. The suspension isn't as bad as some people say (i've ridden everything inlcuding bikes with 30mm Ohlins cartridges). It's so hard to believe the faired version is only 474lbs. Truly feels like a 600. HOWEVER...the throttle response was absolutely horrendous. Worse than my 2009 FZ1. When buying a PC5, does it come with a map already installed for stock exhaust/airbox for this bike? I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on this bike because if this issue is fixable, this bike really surprised me and i really loved it. Would it be worth it to get PC5 with autotune, or add that later if the PC5 doesn't solve it 100%? Even with snatchy throttle, I'm having a hard time justifying spending a few grand more on used FZ-10.
Ive had mine GSXS1000 for 18 months. No throttle issues at all. I know of others like this too. Be interesting to know what the ratio is of throttle issue vs no throttle issue bikes. Agree with you though, what a great bike.
I have a 2017 GSX-S1000 in the blue color scheme. The only mod I have is a Yoshi Alpha slip-on...which really don't sound much different than stock exhaust. The PC5 is going to be my next purchase. This bike is a torque monster!! The only gripe I have is wind blast at 70+mph. I know there are wind screens available, but if I wanted the bike to look different, I would have considered the 1000F. This bike is totally awesome, and a serious head-turner.
My gsx is 10k miles and never gave a problem, just joy, I always make a trip of 800 miles in 10 hours, then I installed a windshield and improved the comfort too much.
I keep going back to this video and just thinking the exact same thing man! I live in Seattle if you ever wanna ride sometime brotha! I have a full M4 exhaust and power commander! Works like a charm!
Do you have buzz/vibration on the handlebars? I have similar bar-end mirrors and the buzz on the handlebars past 110kmh is crazy. I've been told it's due to the removing OEM weighted bar ends
Now you have the pc5 why dont you derestrict it with a smart tre or xtre, lots more torque and top speed limiter removed. I had a decat and tre on mine, getting the ecu flash in a cpl weeks
I'm closing in on 5k miles on my 2016 fairing version of this GSX-S1000 and have no complaints other than the hard seat. I'm thinking about upgrading to a Saddleman seat, but we'll see. I got used to the snappy throttle (I just hang on to the bike more tightly), and a sticky ignition key issue that I've heard others complain about somehow worked itself out on mine.

Pretty sure the ‘17 & ‘18 have 10 added HP and a bit more torque due to new vent holes in the bottom of the bores. Pretty sure they both also have a new Slip&grip clutch. Apparently they addressed some of the issues on the throttle but I’ve read people say its still snatchy on the new ones. I just installed my PCV that I bought online from Fuel Moto. Stock bike just like yours. Did your PCV come with the O2 optimizer? Mine did not. Instructions never included it. Bike seems to be smoothed out and running good. Not sure if the optimizer is needed.
I honestly don't recall. I know I had to unplug the stock O2 sensor and plug in something from the PC harness. Is your bike a '16? Pretty amazing how big of an improvement it made huh?
@@PNW_Sportbike_Life Yes, my bike is a '16. After calling dynojet, they told me they got rid of the o2 optimizer. You are suppose to leave the o2 sensor plugged in. In testing, they found it more beneficial this way. Bike runs way smoother, and has helped my snatchy throttle. However, I believe the stock map that Fuel Moro included is way too conservative. Once, I get my laptop up and running I'm gonna tweak the numbers for more power. Gonna be a beast!
Just bought the Y edition (rare) yesterday red white and black 2018 model with red wheels and 2000 miles on it....what a bike!! Really very quick..Looks fantastic sounds incredible handles superbly... Yes it does have the snatchy throttle with huge engine braking which is a bit worrying but I'm sure I will get used to it...gonna try anyway...great induction noise even as standard...just changed pipe to a beautiful little pro race slash cut item with pro race cat cover...Looks and sounds evil....best bike I've ever owned....love the long 1st gear but keep traction control on until you get used to performance otherwise you'll go arse over tit ....rumour has it that after dyno testing 3 dealer bikes straight from the crate they averaged 166bhp...I can see that now.... anyone out there thinking of buying one.....GET IT NOW...you genuinely won't regret it
I have the 2017 model with snatchy throttle making it almost unridable around town. I agree with you this bike is outrageous but I’ve had enough and booked in for a woolich ecu flash in a week or so.
Got the 2016 (new) about a month ago. Just getting ready for the first scheduled maint, hadn't been able to ride it near as much as I'd like, due to its FUCKING COLD!! But I absolutely love it so far! The throttle is twitchy as hell from off-on for sure. I'm sure it will smooth out some over the break-in time, but it'll damn sure give you the pucker factor in and out of the twisters. I had them remove the slack out of it, but it's obviously a fueling issue. My '06 cbr600 was no where near this in any aspect....it's a beast, and I haven't even got on it hard. Super fun, easy to ride, and no regrets. That being said, PV5 is at the top of my list. Regardless of any performance boost I may see, it def needs it.
Eric Richardson. 19/08/2019 Had the same problem with my 2019 gsxs1000 so i fitted the pc5 and it is a completely diffrent bike gone is the snatchy throttle and it is as smooth as silk now defo recomend to all gsxs1000 owners not the cheapest thing but well worth it
@@vincentd1128 Hi Vincent ,i havnt put it on the rolling road for stats but feels like it has more torque ,but 100% more enjoyable bike to ride.defo recomend PC5.
I can't believe Suzuki haven't fixed this long standing issue. Even my 2018 suffers a bit from the throttle snatch. I may get PC V if it as you says makes so much difference. I 'm not looking for more power necessarily, however if that is part of the smoothing fix i'll take it. I'll wait and see what the mechanic says tomorrow when it's gets a service. He may no a trick or two that will help like setting TPS or other. $10000 US is pretty good, my Z cost a bit more at $12000 US including on road costs.I consider the Z model super mean looking rather than sexy. I've nick named mine 'The Bat' , others prefer 'Phantom'. All blacked out with a carbon Yoshimura and R&G tail tidy it really does look and go like a bat out of hell with it's positional LEDS representing this animal's fangs. Nice review i couldn't agree with you more it's a lot bike for the money and was way more fun than the Street Triple 765R i tested and that costed significantly more. Lane splitting is a doddle with TC on to keep the front wheel down, it feels so safe one automatically wants to push a bit more. Love it but i want to keep my licence so TC stays on. Thanks look at the 2017 with a PC V.
@big bass im fitting it this comming monday, along with a G2 throttle tamer.let you know next week.hopfully it will make a big difference like in this case.
@big bass Well it's a different bike, it even sounds different. Just came down the North Western lane splitting like there is no tomorrow. All jerkiness has ceased to exist and constant speed no problem. Even in fifth at 50kmh. I really love my bike now. Not going to dyno as there is no need.
can you post what map you used or a pic of the pc5 map your using as the ones on dyno jet site seem to lean the bike even worse than it was ,I thought it would richen low end up ,also my engine breaking is really harsh
I test rode this bike and loved it. However, why the fuck did they put all the gears so close together? They're stupidly close for a bike that makes like 140hp at the wheel
I suppose they did it for street ride-ability purposes. I don't mind it, but putting on a sprocket kit to lengthen the gears out a bit probably wouldn't be a terrible idea.
Mate, three things, first I enjoyed that ..visually easy on the eye and too an intersting and informative vid, second, man I took one of those (actually the ?FA with the fairing) for a test ride and the thing that grabbed me (i'm 54 years old and have been getting back to bikes after almost 20 years away and have been training myself for a road bike via the last couple of years with a Husky 125 two srtoke motocrosser ..anyhow) and gee the thing that struck me was this mass centralisation thing they've all been doing in recent years ...it feels like a slab between your legs and on your - the riders - centre line ..maybe this bike (and it looks it) have done this more than most ..dunno...but it provides for an impressive 'feeling' effect - it's going to be a terrible situation that gets this thing out of shape ...it's reassuring and ..amazing. Third and lastly ..god I dunno but ...turn your damn clutch and brake levers forward ...so they sit at the natural angle of that your forearms make with the bars...lol okay maybe they do now ..but geez it looks so unnatural as they are ...and all bikes(I think) on all makes do it ....something about horizontal is groovy ..but no it's not it's a slave to fasion and not as good as it can be. haha so there ... later mate very good thanks
Well I'm actually watching this video in 2019 And I'm probably going to buy one my last bike was a 2007 GSXR750 and I loved it. . . You can't beat the price and you're getting into a 1000 which are pretty expensive nowadays
Hey so I’ve been doing sooooo much research on this bike and I’ve noticed that the 2018 in America has a black fuel tank but I can’t find the one your riding anywhere. The reason I like yours is because the fuel tank is mostly blue and yours has the yellow and the ones on the market for 2018 are all black fuel tanks with black and blue only. Nooo yellow and I want the yellow I’ve almost came to the conclusion that this is the Europe version 😅
I have the 16 and really dont see the problem with a snatchy throttle. I dont get it. Yea, its got power, and thats why it seems snatchy, i guess. Me, i fkn love every part of the gsxs1000f. I've been thinking about buying one of these as an upgrade to an 08 street triple. Just worried it may not be the best option or the most fun for the grid lock inner city commuting I do.
Yes it does have the snatchy throttle with huge engine braking which is a bit worrying but I'm sure I will get used to it...gonna try anyway...great induction noise even as standard...just changed pipe to a beautiful little pro race slash cut item with pro race cat cover...Looks and sounds evil....best bike I've ever owned....love the long 1st gear but keep traction control on until you get used to performance otherwise you'll go arse over tit ....rumour has it that after dyno testing 3 dealer bikes straight from the crate they averaged 166bhp...I can see that now.... anyone out there thinking of buying one.....GET IT NOW...you genuinely won't regret it
awesome video i think i gonne get Suzuki gsx s1000 but 2015year is that oke?
There isn't much difference until you jump to the 2018 if I'm not mistaken. The power commander will likely work just fine on the 2015 model year.
I had barends on my cb650, which worked well...but with my new gsxs1000f, im lovin the stock mirrors, they work well. Any regrets on the barends?
Nope; I like them a lot better than the stock bug antennas
I have the 2017 model with snatchy throttle making it almost unridable around town. I agree with you this bike is outrageous but I’ve had enough and booked in for a woolich ecu flash in a week or so.
just install the power commander! I think an ECM flash will void your factory warrenty
Hi, is not there any official fix from suzuki to throttle issues?
Suzuki will give you a ECM switch, but it didn't help my bike at all.
It helps a TON; you won't regret it!
What brand are those bar end mirrors
I have a gladious 650, I thought I wanted to upgrade to a fz09 but this Suzuki seems bad ass.nice video
Thanks man! I am in love with this bike:) FZ09 was too tall for me; I'm a short-shit
pnw? oregon? washington?
Puget sound area:)
They must have fixed it for 2019. My GSX-S100FZ model has an absolutely smooth throttle.
Eric Richardson. 19/08/2019
Had the same problem with my 2019 gsxs1000 so i fitted the pc5 and it is a completely diffrent bike gone is the snatchy throttle
and it is as smooth as silk now defo recomend to all gsxs1000 owners not the cheapest thing but well worth it
Cool. Have a 2018 gsxs1000 and thinking about getting a PC5. Did it improve torque/power as well?
@@vincentd1128 Hi Vincent ,i havnt put it on the rolling road for stats but feels like it has more torque ,but 100% more enjoyable bike to ride.defo recomend PC5.
@@ericrichardson9151 I thought Suzuki fixed this issue with 2018+?
Toppo beta xtrainer it's just the stock map that came with the PC
all the maps seem to minus the fuel in low range ,I thought it would richen it more in low end as these bikes run lean already
I am not sure I would ever get a sport liter bike (ride an 883 on my channel), but you make me want to rethink that.
I can't see being on anything but a sportbike! You get addicted to the power!
Hey thanks Scott! I've learned to sit back on the seat a bit and it's saved me some discomfort! I think the "F" model looks killer too
Bri i hate the new one, like a suzuki mt-10
I miss that blue beast
Well I'm actually watching this video in 2019 And I'm probably going to buy one my last bike was a 2007 GSXR750 and I loved it. . . You can't beat the price and you're getting into a 1000 which are pretty expensive nowadays
pick you up a last years model and you'll save a couple thousand!
I completely agree with you that's a good idea
Suzuki will fit a next gen ecu for free in the UK, I had mine done
I had mine done as well. It made no difference however.
You don't even need a power commander. Search "GSXS1000 TPS Adjustment". Fixed with basic tools
kandin Robinson that doesn’t always work; the PC worked perfectly.
Aprilia is known for being particularly unreliable....ducatti isn't far off either......
🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Adjust and calibrate the tps and no need buy a powercommander......
I have the 16 and really dont see the problem with a snatchy throttle. I dont get it. Yea, its got power, and thats why it seems snatchy, i guess. Me, i fkn love every part of the gsxs1000f. Ive been riding over 30 yrs and this is the best, most fun and exhilarating bike ive ever known. I fkn love my gsxs1000f!!!
las rutas de eeuu impecables igualitas a las argentinas hahahaha
Maybe the most boring road in the world 😄
But PCV it is.
no doubt, no doubt
I found it annoying to watch you riding with only one hand on the bars for much of the time. Unnecessary and unsafe.
I've been thinking about buying one of these as an upgrade to an 08 street triple. Just worried it may not be the best option or the most fun for the grid lock inner city commuting I do. I like a touchy throttle but without having ridden it I'm not sure how much of an issue it is. What screen have you got on yours? Is it the carbon fibre looking one?
I initially wanted a cb1000r and have been waiting for years for a new one to come out. Apparently that will happen for next year.
prndownload it's the Suzuki OEM fly screen
Lol I actually just re-watched some of this video again from my suggestion list right as you must've been commenting. Good timing. I remember the carbon look one from the following video. It's what I imagined I would get with it. watch?v=chmBfsmw9Dw
