Motorcycles...MOTORCYCLES!! I'm probably going to beat some dead horses on some of these topics, but I want to give you my take. Please, feel free to learn from my mistakes! I have owned a 2012 Ninja 650EX (first bike) and currently ride a 2016 Suzuki GSXS1000. I picked up the Suzuki in April. It 's a bike I respect and one that I can grow into.
I also have other hobbies: I'm into backcountry hiking/non-technical mountaineering and drumming.

Are mounted GoPros/cameras allowed on Military installations?
Переглядів 3336 років тому
I recently got into it with an MP and a gate guard soldier, because they were hassling me about my helmet mounted GoPro. Since I didn't know the EXACT policy, I removed my helmet out of courtesy. The policy is DOD Traffic Safety Program 6055.04, and the only thing it prohibits is earbuds while operating a vehicle and radar detectors. Hopefully this helps some of you that ride on military instal...

2016 GSX-S1000 5,000 mile review!!
Переглядів 31 тис.6 років тому
Finally finished this video from footage from the end of last summer. I had just put 5k miles and wanted to get some impressions out! Watch and listen as I blab incessantly about this killer bike, while riding up the beautiful south WA coast. Shoot me with any questions you might have! -Scooter
Astoria OR/Goonies House Fail/GSXS1000
Переглядів 4327 років тому
After a killer weekend of riding with my bro down in OR, we tried to check out the Goonies house in Astoria...The homeowners are tired of "Goonies" trying to come up to the house, so they locked that shit down! -Scooter
Craziness while out riding the GSXS-1000; roadside fire!!
Переглядів 2307 років тому
I run across a random fire while riding the GSXS-1000 around Tacoma. Notice where the kid says "hurry the F*ck up;" I didn't hear that until playback, and it made me laugh! If you like the vid, please share with your friends and subscribe!
Power Commander V for the Suzuki GSX-S1000
Переглядів 38 тис.7 років тому
I discuss the results of a Dynojet Power Commander 5 (V) install on my 2016 GSXS-1000! I'm telling you, if you're on the fence about purchasing this motorcycle; just freaking do it!! The throttle issues are real, but the problem is easily fixed using Dynojet's power commander 5 fuel controller!! This bike is so amazing, especially for the price! Please, subscribe, comment and like (or dislike i...
Love your passion for riding. I ride a wicked Vmax Safe travels
Cringe video
Glad you enjoyed it man!
I realize that this is an old video but whatever! When I was stationed at SuBase Bangor and at the old NavSta Seattle, this wasn’t an issue, none of that stuff was around in the 80s and early 90s. That said, my old SeaBee Equipment Operator butt decided to drive trucks for a living when I got out. Over the years, I’ve delivered to JBLM hundreds of times. I started using dash cams when they first came out and of course nowadays just about every trucking company puts them in all their trucks. In the early days, with personal dash cams, I was occasionally asked to turn them off or take them off the windshield and I always complied. Later though, with the company mounted ones, I was asked to turn them off a couple times. After a few years of those company installed cameras (and now there are even some installed by the manufacturer) they stopped asking and/or telling me to shut them down. I never asked why, so of course I never found out why. I was last at JBLM in 21, so things might have changed since but I don’t know. Interesting topic.
WTF LMAO!!! Little dude is gonna have a bent wanker
I'm neither a car nor a motorbike person. But when I saw your profile picture I had to take a closer look. That's a very nice looking motorbike.
This didn’t help. I would give you crap too. get to work
Good video. I’ve got a gixxer k7 and just bought a gsx s1000 to blast around on at the weekend and love it so far. Yes it’s a little snatchy low down but it’s not the problem people make it out to be, at least not on mine. It has a PC5 on it with stock map and it rides just fine. No way near as smooth as the K7 but just a blast to ride. Lots of smiles and bags of power. I have a MT07 too and there’s nothing wrong with that bike but I missed the power of a litre bike…..
right at 20k miles; she's running great!
Goonies was one of the greatest movies. I'm only an hour from there, Oregon my whole life but have never tried to see the Goondocks, now I know to look at a picture instead Haha. Bridge footage was gorgeous.
Thank ya!
And yes; Goonies was one of the greats! Wholesome 80’s goodness with a little edge
Does the base map that comes with the PCV fix the throttle issue, or do you need a custom map setup? Thanks
the base map made it 100% better. Even my wife noticed when she rode it, and she doesn't ever notice anything!
Nice video! I got the Katana variant of the gsxs1000 and I love it! The windscreen that came with it didn’t do too much but after installing a MRA bubble wind screen I’ve had zero issues with the wind even for a naked bike. Power commander and quick shifter from dynajet are next on my list
Very nice! I’m looking at the newly released GT version of this motorcycle. It’s got a ton of great updates
I have ordered a power commander for mine, did you have to disconnect the lamber sensor
not that I recall. I just followed the isntructions and watched they youtube vid. Good luck!
Bri i hate the new one, like a suzuki mt-10 I miss that blue beast
I drive to JBAB (Bolling AFB in DC) quiet a bit and they told me I can have it mounted but not recording. I have a Suzuki GSXS-1000F, where is your camera mounted?
on the chin of my helmet
@@PNW_Sportbike_Life I got a strap chin mount vice sticker chin mount. Is that what you use? Let me know if you get stationed in DC one day
Okay, I currently ride a ninja 650 like you did before this bike. Right now I'm between a new left over 2020 GSX-S1000 or the 750 version. I would rather have the 1000 but just a little unsure. Maybe a dumb question but how was it with adjusting to the power difference, bike feel etc. From your Ninja?
Totally natural; just apply your proper fundamentals of riding and you’ll be just fine! The lower difference is significant though😉
@@PNW_Sportbike_Life okay, thanks man!
Why did you put a power commander on
to smooth out the throttle. Next year I'm going to be doing the exhaust and ECU flash/custom tune
Just bought a red/black 2016 with 4000 miles on it. Love it!!
Definatly getting the ECU flashed. And fitting a Healtech quickshifter. And that will be my perfect bike. Maybe some steel braided hoses eventually but that`s it. I`m in love
Love that black red colour combo the best
That road tho bro , was fine as he'll 😎
I've had my S1000 for 3 years now. Just put a full racing exhaust with a BMC filter and akrapovic muffler. It was nasty stock, but now it's a *monster.* Sounds mean as hell, and 155whp. Also, comfortable to ride for hours. Wouldn't trade mine for anything.
I bet yours sounds like a boss! I want to get the cat removed, M4 slip-on and a ECU flash once the warranty is done.
@@PNW_Sportbike_Life hell yea it does. The stock bike is amazing, but it feels like it's being held back. Because it is ....
dude sounds like BIll Paxton but i appreciate the content.
I’ve been told I sound like Christian Slater lol
Just bought the Y edition (rare) yesterday red white and black 2018 model with red wheels and 2000 miles on it....what a bike!! Really very quick..Looks fantastic sounds incredible handles superbly... Yes it does have the snatchy throttle with huge engine braking which is a bit worrying but I'm sure I will get used to it...gonna try anyway...great induction noise even as standard...just changed pipe to a beautiful little pro race slash cut item with pro race cat cover...Looks and sounds evil....best bike I've ever owned....love the long 1st gear but keep traction control on until you get used to performance otherwise you'll go arse over tit ....rumour has it that after dyno testing 3 dealer bikes straight from the crate they averaged 166bhp...I can see that now.... anyone out there thinking of buying one.....GET IT NOW...you genuinely won't regret it
Im little on the fence still.. Thinking of a new Kawasaki Z900, but then i test drive a GSX-S 750 and it was a great bike, but little more power could not hurt (I drive a Kawasaki Z650 now, everything fall apart) So im going tomorrow to have a test drive on a 2020 GSX-S 1000 and if its about same as a GSX-S 750 but with more power i take the bike. Do you still have the bike? You had any thing wrong with it?
I tested a Z900 as well. It wasn't bad, I just liked the GSX-S a little bit better. Kawasaki has really been putting out some great motorcycles as of late!
I found it annoying to watch you riding with only one hand on the bars for much of the time. Unnecessary and unsafe.
26:13 O.O lmao, thank you for great review.
did you come of the a ninja 650r or ninja 650l ( lams approved) is there any engine vibrations come throw , thats the reason i sold my ninja 650l after 5 months owning it , and am now looking at either the gsxs750 or the 1000,
not quite sure what you're asking, but I basically got bored of the 650, and that's why I got rid of it
I had barends on my cb650, which worked well...but with my new gsxs1000f, im lovin the stock mirrors, they work well. Any regrets on the barends?
Nope; I like them a lot better than the stock bug antennas
I have the 16 and really dont see the problem with a snatchy throttle. I dont get it. Yea, its got power, and thats why it seems snatchy, i guess. Me, i fkn love every part of the gsxs1000f. Ive been riding over 30 yrs and this is the best, most fun and exhilarating bike ive ever known. I fkn love my gsxs1000f!!!
ooh I'm 5'5 myself and currently on a Ninja 650 too. Are you on the balls of your feet on your GSXS when standing?
Yes, but I’m still careful
@@PNW_Sportbike_Life Nice
Do you have buzz/vibration on the handlebars? I have similar bar-end mirrors and the buzz on the handlebars past 110kmh is crazy. I've been told it's due to the removing OEM weighted bar ends
Nothing like that, no.
They must have fixed it for 2019. My GSX-S100FZ model has an absolutely smooth throttle.
Hello I have just purchased a pcv and i am wondering if it is just a case of plugging it all in or do i have to load any other maps onto it to rectify the snatchy throttle Sorry if the question seems a little dumb😂 I'm just new to the power commander Many thanks
Not at all! You can load other fuel maps to it, but the stock map that came on it works fantastic. Totally transformed the bike
@@PNW_Sportbike_Life many thanks for your reply!!! Looking forward to installing the pcv although my gsx-s isn't too bad tbh but im still installing it!!! Absolutely love the bike
@@luvuprising it isn’t bad. Just follow the directions, and when you plug in the injectors, make sure they’re seated and snapped in. I had one that I didn’t seat properly, and needless to say, the bike didn’t run too well!
@@PNW_Sportbike_Life many thanks for your reply, i have now installed the pcv and the difference was immediately noticeable on my short ride out earlier today so many thanks for your advice and thanks for the video, it really helped me out a lot👍🏻
@@luvuprising awesome!
Nice video, I'm a beginner motorcyclist, my first bike at age 48 end am small 166cm,, so which bike of this equation is right for me? I drive daily to work in the city and also the highway and sometimes during a weekend round of recreational so, which one? don't like Adventure such an engine, love Naked bike so what is your opinion? are they similar to Honda cb 1000 r or Kawa z1000
Petroos, very similar yes; all great motorcycles
Petroos Abdollahian also, good for you for not getting a freaking 300cc starter bike. My brother warned me about that and I’m really glad I listened to him!
@@PNW_Sportbike_Life thanks for reaction
how many miles per gallons do you get?
I'm currently looking for either a z900 , fz09 or gsx1000. I honestly think I'll save up a little more money and pull the trigger on the gsx it just looks like the perfect bike
Yea I got a 16 and I have the power commander And cat delete with open pipe! Yea it’s loud I love it!
Tammy Forbes that’s where I’m going next with this thing!
You don't even need a power commander. Search "GSXS1000 TPS Adjustment". Fixed with basic tools
kandin Robinson that doesn’t always work; the PC worked perfectly.
Adjust and calibrate the tps and no need buy a powercommander......
Trying to decide between Yamaha fz09 and gsxs1000. Any advice?
Diamond Cut Productions seating position is more upright on the FZ-09, and taller. Price less on the FZ as well. I have t been keeping up o current models unfortunately. I do have a buddy who loves his FZ-09. I do t think you could go wrong either way!
Just swapped my FZ09 for one of these. No competition, the Suzuki blows it away on every front.
Spend the extra $ and get a gsx-s
What issue are you having with the throttle?
Loving those frame sliders have you got a link to em?what a fantastic machine the rs is love mine
Here we are: www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/sw-motech-frame-sliders-triumph-street-triple-765
2500 miles on my stocker tires :/ went with Q3+
What the accessories for this bike ?
Had my GSX-S now for 5yrs come June, never fails to put a smile on my face every time I ride, roll on summer 🤗
Hell Yeah!!
does it wheelie easy?
Dannnk nooners !!! Just be sure to have some new fork seals and steering head bearings ready to go..
Great video my friend very informative. I have the possibility of a great deal on a 2019 GSX-S1000 only 500 miles too. So want to put pen to paper on this deal lol already have a GSXR-750 K5 which i love and there lies the problem i cant have two can i ????lol.
Yes, I give you permission to have two!
@@PNW_Sportbike_Life well in that case thank you i will.
Aprilia is known for being particularly unreliable....ducatti isn't far off either......
Great review!!
Thanks man! Bike is still going strong; no issues at all:)
2nd roars to 160kph.
Seats ok. Feel it on long rides.
Lap timer?
Great simple and very clear dash
