Finally the legendary warrior King of Argos and Prince of Aetolia, the son of Tydeus, the man who fought 3 Olympian gods, Diomedes! One of the greatest injustices in the movies made for the Trojan War, is that the absolute Achean Hero, Diomedes, who is one of the protagonists, in the first half of the Iliad is always absent.

All Olympian Gods were Dark haired and Olive skinned, so I don't know why you are getting all happy about it, they did not look at all like Germans, celts or Scandinavians, we Greeks are Mediterranean and we are Not related to Nordic people.
A 2017 study on the genetic origins of the Minoans and Mycenaeans showed that modern Greeks resemble the Mycenaeans, but with some additional dilution of the early Neolithic ancestry. The results of the study support the idea of genetic continuity between these civilizations and modern Greeks in the history of populations of the Aegean, before and after the time of its earliest civilizations. ACCORDING TO THE SAME STUDY, ANCIENT GREEKS MOSTLY CARRIED GENES FOR DARKER HAIR AND EYES.

The Best preserved Roman frescoes, Mosaics and their Painted Statues all show Black and Brown haired people, not Blonde or Red hairs.. EVER... The only Blonde haired people I have seen are those depicting Germanic and Gallic slaves and Prostitutes. All of the Paintings and Mosaics of Gods and Goddesses and that Mosaic of Alexander are all Black haired and Dark haired. The same with the painted statue of ATHENA Campegna, the only Originally painted statue that has survived shows ATHENA Campegna as Jet Black haired, with Olive Tawny skin, MARS is painted as Swarthy by the Greeks and Romans and VENUS APHRODITE is painted as Dark haired with large Dark eyes and so is APOLLON.

Excellent video, but you should 've added two crucial things.
    1. Goddess Athena bestowed on Diomedes the ability to see the Gods on the field
    2. Goddess Aphrodite took revenge on Diomedes, by making his wife in Argos fall in love and marry another man who became king in his place.
Diomedes showed understanding because he was missing way too long and left Argos. Once again he proved that he was an honorable man, not allowing Aphrodite to ruin him

    • @SonnetiGR
      @SonnetiGR 2 роки тому +43

@@truthspreader1996 You are indeed correct, number 2 happened way after the Trojan war ended
But the importance of this information is way too great, to be left out in my opinion. Almost noone will learn it if it is not mentioned. Most people will only learn Diomedes' story from this one video
So, i believe it should have been mentioned that goddess Aphrodite had her revenge when she made his wife love and marry another man. There, our hero was once again tested, when he found her wife unfaithful. What did he do?
His response was once again heroic as he forgave her and understood her. He found the strength in his heart to do this despite the pain he felt.
His response made goddess Athena smile as the goddess of wisdom was once again glorified, when our hero Diomedes overcame the passions of his heart. Our hero has succesfully completed the internal journey and then, was granted immortality by Goddess Athena.
That is the path of the hero

Diomedes was one of the Acheans who entered to the Trojan Horse, alonside his close friend Odysseus, Achilles's son Neoptolemus, Philoctetes and Menelaus. After the end of War of Troy, he returned to Argos, only to find out that Aphrodite took her revenge on him... His wife Aegialia, in his absence had multiple lovers, and the last one made him, king. Diomedes not wanting to harm his wife, who he still loved her, and bring civil war to his people, he took his warriors, and sailed to Italy. In Italy he founded almost a dozen of cities. And then a surprise came to him. One day he was asked by a local king to fight against another newcomer, his old adversary Aeneas, who was has also settled in Italy. Diomedes in a moment of greatness, he refused, saying that his war against the Trojans was long over, and adviced the local king to make peace with Aeneas. In some versions of the myth, Diomedes and Aeneas actually they met in Italy, where Diomedes restored to Aeneas the Palladium, and both became friends and allies. After his death, Diomedes was adored as a divinity by the cities of Southern Italy.

  • @pseudomonas03

Few words about the great Diomedes. He was son of Tydeus, Prince of Aetolia, one of the greatest warriors of his time, a berserker (almost like he was presented in the Rock's Hercules's movie), who was almost achieved immortality by the goddess Athena (but before he died in battle, he did something that disgusted Athena...). Diomedes even if he was quite young during the Trojan war, he was already a veteran warrior, since he had already partecipated in the second Theban war, also called the war of the Epigoni, occurred ten years later after his father's death, and he had defeated the usurpers of the throne of Aetolia, restoring his grandfather Oeneus to the throne. In Troy, Diomedes is the 2nd greatest Achean hero, after Achilles, and alongside Ajax. His warrior skills are combined though with wisdom for this reason he is one of Athena's favorites. Diomedes is known for killing some important Trojan warriors and allies like Pandarus (his death is one of the mosth "graphic" in Iliad), and the Thracian king Rhesus. Diomedes is also one of the few warriors in the Trojan war, who didn't commit the sin of hubris.

But during the war of the Seven against Thebes, Tydeus was badly injured by one greatest warriors of Thebes, Melanippus. With his remaining forces Tydeus killed Melanippus, but according to a roman version of the myth, then the dying Tydeus asked from his friend Amphiarhaus, to decapitate Melanippus, and bring his head to him. Tydeus broke Melanippus's skull, and consumed his brain (perhaps some kind of reminiscent of primordial canibalistic savage rituals, who knows...). King Diomedes of Argos. The badass of the Trojan War. I also hope you will animate when Zeus & Poseidon were about to fight eachother, it was great when Zeus sent Nike to tell Poseidon not to fight & threatened him, then Poseidon tells Nike to go tell Zeus not to forget that he's not the only son of Kronos & he was not afraid of him. And Hades feared that in their battle, they would end up not only destroy heaven & earth, but the underworld as well.

When you read the Illiad yo realize that Diomedes is the one that the story portrays as the ultimate warrior, and not Achiles. Achiles is more of an anti hero. Diomedes is basically Superman.
