I think Hepheustus felt guilty for giving Achilles that armour since years later he did the same for Aeneas, one of the last members of the Trojan royal household.
Aeneas was a Dardanian prince, not a Trojan.
@@pseudomonas03 True BUT his uncle was King Priam and he was mostly seen at court, deffo during the war. Hence I counted him as a household member.
@@gorvarhadgarson5227 Sure, he was related to Priam, but Aeneas wasn't part of the Trojan royal family. Many protagonists of the Trojan War were related to Priam, even from the Achean camp. For example Teucer, Ajax's half brother was nephew of Priam, son of his sister Hesione.

Zeus, Poseidon and Hades share the authority over the world because they are male gods worshiped in a patriarcal society, but in raw power Hera was second only to Zeus as she shares with him the power over sky and storms. While Athena is stronger than other gods like Ares, Aphrodite and maybe Poseidon, she is wise enough to know never go against Hera, even if she is the favourite child of Zeus. When Hera wants to get revenge on someone, there is no god who goes against her. When she pursued Leto, no god dared to help her out of fear of Hera. When Eris threw the apple of discord between the gods to choose the most beautiful goddess almost everyone backed off knowing that Hera wanted the prize, only Athena and Aphrodite dared to compete with her, and Aphrodite (and her protege Paris and her son Aeneas, and their city, Troy) suffered for a long time because of this.
Homer in Iliad made an epic and detailed description of the Shield that Hephaestus built for Achilles. I believe that everyone who reads in the Iliad the images reproduced on Achilles's Shield, remains astonished about the anti-war messages that Homer delivered through the entire description.
Calling the Iliad "anti-war" overall is massively disingenuous

This episode was so exciting! I'm reliving all the excitement when I last read the Iliad this year.
QUESTION: Why does Achilles need armor to fight if he is invulnerable?
ANSWER: Because he was NEVER invulnerable. This and his death with an arrow in the heel were invented by Roman poets.
Were they really? Like I knew achilles was wounded by memnon and all but there is just so much myth its easy to get lost

What I’m really waiting for is Achilles’ battle with Memnon
Same here…a lot of people don’t really talk about it. It was the most Epic battle in the battle of Troy. Memnon was perhaps the 2nd best warrior on the battle field. Second only to the mighty Achilles.
Sorry, thats not in the illiad. Try reading that other story which concludes the war. The one where the amazons joined the trojans.

I've seen other vids and movies of the Trojan War but this is a 1st in where the gods r hands-on in the war instead of hands-off (inspiring and influencing). We're getting close to the famous horse 🐎.

@@durrangodsgrief6503nah they fought twice in the trojan war and both times Athena won. If you're implying that Athena only won because she "tricked" him then you're sorely mistaken. She's better than him in every way brains or brawn. I believe the 2nd fight Athena just straight up overpowered him.

He is never described as being invulnerable or dipped in the river Styx in the Iliad. Its a later invention.

Why does Achilles need armour if he is invincible? Why did put on armour everywhere but his weak spot?
His near invincibility was apparently a later additional myth, he was never invincible hence why he needed armor in the first place
