If Siskel thought that Turtles II was too violent, he clearly had very cloudy memories of the first one. I also remember that Ebert's written review said that the movies were based on the Ninja Turtle video game for Nintendo. I'm not expecting these guys to be experts, obviously, and I have the utmost respect for them, but it still hurts my nostalgic heart sometimes.

You don’t have to be an expert in childish content. These so-called films have nothing to offer than hollow narratives, and nothing educational.

@@coreydolan3239 The first TMNT was a compromise with both the comic and the cartoon. It was Dark and action filled. Yet adapted the source material true to form & with heart. Pt:2 although very entertaining the production & script was a step back due to parental groups incited the strong violence in 1st one. TBH, it's not supposed to be educational it's a Saturday afternoon matinee. With great animaltronic anthropomorphic amphibians by The late great *Jim Henson* fighting a gang of ninjas called the foot lead by the villainous Shredder.
It's a movie. If you want educational programming watch Henson's sesame street. Both in my book are certified classics. I'd watch these than the Michael Bay abominations.

Nikita is a frantic and deep story about contract killers underworld. Anne Parillaud made a great performance and Besson mise-en-scène is something outstanding

La Femme Nikita is a must see, particularly if you’re in any way a fan of Luc Besson. 5 years after Nikita he made Leon The Professional. The latter is maybe more solid as an action thriller but LFN is fairly interesting overall with great performances from all the cast.

Albert Brooks was really great in Finding Nemo.

I agree. I loved Albert Brooks in Finding Nemo. but the movie was absolutley annoying because of that forgetful fish.

The path of the La Femme Nikita concept is kinda interesting, primarily in the devolution of a character.
In the original movie, the character of "Nikita" was an anarchist and killer basically brainwashed to work for the Center. Then they did the American movie version (Point of No Return), which softened the character - no longer an anarchist, but definitely a killer. I think the Center also brainwashed her in this movie, but I don't remember this one too much. I preferred Luc Besson's version.
Then we got the TV series, which softened the character even more. Here, she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time - she was accused of killing someone, but she's no murderer and definitely no anarchist - and she was just forced to work for the Center or they would hand her over to the law and make sure she was convicted. The series was okay, but I didn't really follow it much. I never saw the new series with Maggie Q, so I am not sure how it differs from the previous versions.
Of course, we later got Alias, which, as far as I was concerned, was a ripoff of Nikita anyway.

I love that back to back, with two Albert Brooks movies S&E reviewed, this one and Mother, Gene, who didn't think either film was among Brooks' best while still giving thumbs up to both, would always throw back to Roger that he should instead give another look at Real Life, Brooks' debut feature, which Roger HATED.

They slammed the original Turtles film, and it is vastly superior to’Ooze.’ They were just not interested in the franchise.

Yeah seemed like a very biased review and gave it no serious chance. The second one is a bit silly but the first one is grittier and superior for sure. The 1990 film is still one of my favorites and still holds up, especially compared to the really bad reboot and it’s sequel.

I do agree the ending was very abrupt considering the initial point of the couple was to find themselves...and it was to go get that high paying job, Lost in America is an Excellent movie, but the ending was not up to the 3/4 of the movie

The Comfort of Strangers was a little better than what they're saying but Nicolas Roeg's Don't Look Now which is a similar is much better.

“…violence-filled…”. This movie is noticeably less violent than the original movie. They went to great pains to make the second movie less violent than the first movie. Activist groups howled loudly at the violence of the first movie and got this one watered down.
