Hey man love the list ....and i remember commenting last year in defense of RZ halloween 2 ....im happy you revisited it and have an appreciation for it now haha it isnt perfect (maybe too brutal).... but Scout Danielle Malcolm and Brad were exceptional ...and i love the gritty atmosphere and the fact Zombie tried to make it his own ... and just love that hallowen 4 is that high on your list ...great video...cheers from Toronto, Canada
I’m proud of myself because I use to hate it and didn’t even want to talk about the film but after rewatching it this year I had a few positive things to say, like you mentioned the acting is terrific! It may not be my cup of tea and i probably won’t watch it often but I respect that Rob made it his own film. I adore Halloween 4, if only Michael’s mask wasn’t so silly in that film! 😅 I appreciate you coming back to the channel to check out the video!
Thank you! That’s awesome that our list is pretty similar. 2018 has made its way up the list for me over the years so I wouldn’t be surprised if it was in my top 5 soon.
Great video and ranking here's mine 13. Zombies H2 12. Resurrection 11. Zombies H1 10. Halloween 5 9. H20 ( I used to really like this movie but it hasn't aged very well) 8. Halloween Kills 7. Halloween 6 6. Halloween 3 5. Halloween Ends 4. Halloween 2 3. Halloween 4 2. Halloween 2018 1. Halloween 1978
Before I watch here's my top 3: 1. Halloween '18 (hot take: James Jude Courtney is 10 times better at playing the character of Myers than Nick Castle. Yeah, I said it) 2. RZ Hallowen 1 (brutal, fun, and Michael was savage) 3. Resurrection (guilty pleasure of mine. It's pretty entertaining if you don't take it at face value)
Hey, I don’t hate that take! I love James Jude Courtney as Michael. I love how we got an older more brutal Michael. I kinda wish Nick Castle got to play Michael in more movies to see how he would have added to the role of Michael. I’m not a huge fan of the Rob Zombie movies or Michael. He isn’t horrible I just didn’t like his backstory but he definitely was brutal! Resurrection is entertaining and fun to watch even though it’s pretty bad 😅
@@kylein9869 I’d say my favorite is the 78 mask but Halloween 2018 & Kills are right there with it. I also like the Halloween 2, Halloween 6 and the first Rob Zombie Halloween mask.
@@ChrisBrockYT mine is a toss up between the OG mask and Resurrection. I always liked how sinister and angry that mask looked in Resurrection. It gets alot of hate though and I don't know why. I like them all though, except for part 4 and 5 for obvious reasons. Great channel btw I subscribed. 👍
@@kylein9869 The resurrection mask actually scared me a lot as a kid. I think it’s a pretty good mask compared to H4, H5, H20 etc. Thank you i appreciate it!
Well Even Know I Like All The Halloween Movies, Here's My Raking... 13) Rob Zombie's Halloween 2. 12) Halloween: Resurrection. 11) Halloween 5: Revenge OF Michael Myers. 10) Halloween 4: Return OF Michael Myers. 9) Halloween 6: Curse OF Michael Myers. 8) Rob Zombie's Halloween (2007). 7) Halloween Ends. 6) Halloween Kills. 5) Halloween 3: Season OF The Witch. 4) Halloween H20. 3) Halloween 2 (1981). 2) Halloween 2018. 1) Halloween 1978.
Nice ranking, I love seeing season of the witch in the top five! Normally people have Halloween 4 ranked high, I’m curious on your thoughts about the film.
I really love the movie even with its flaws. I think it has a great Halloween atmosphere, the soundtrack in the producer’s cut is a throwback to the original film, the kills are pretty good, Michael is finally scary again compared to the previous two films and Donald Pleasence delivered a great final performance in my opinion! I actually made a video called “Why I Love Halloween 6” that I’m pretty proud of that you should check out if you enjoy the film!
The movie isn’t good, not close but the atmosphere, Michael Myers’s design and the gore is what brings it up to me. The final chase and fight scene of the theatrical cut is also very intense.
Good ranking man, you might not agree with some of my placements. But here’s mine: 13.Halloween Resurrection 12.Halloween II (2009) 11.Halloween (2007) 10.Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers 9.Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers 8.Halloween Ends 7.Halloween Kills 6.Halloween H2O: 20 Years Later 5.Halloween (2018) 4.Halloween III: Season of the Witch 3.Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers 2.Halloween II 1.Halloween 🎃
Thank you, we definitely agree on the bottom three movies of the franchise. I also think our top five is pretty close besides Halloween 6. Great ranking!
I love it. I know it’s a messy movie but I think it has a-lot going for it. I think Michael actually looks scary again. The mask is a huge improvement over the previous two sequels. The score (Producer’s Cut) is closer to the original than the previous sequels, bringing back Characters like Tommy Doyle & Terrence Wynn were good moves in my opinion since they’re trying to tie things into the original movie. I really love the atmosphere, a lot of blues and oranges that make the film feel like fall. Dr. Loomis I thought was really good in the movie. Had some great lines and we got to see a different side of him. The film has pretty good kills and one of my favorite kills in the entire franchise when Michael appears from the shadows and impales the woman on the spike. The major things I dislike is the treatment of the Jame Lloyd character. The film implying that the baby is Michael’s in the producer’s cut and just how messy the endings are in both cuts.
Great ranking! I plan to do my own ranking in video form when I review all films on my channel, so this might change as time goes on, but here is my current ranking: 1. Halloween (1978) 2. Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Meyers 3. Halloween: H20 4. Halloween 2 (1981) 5. Halloween 3: Season of the Witch 6. Halloween 2 (2009) 7. Halloween Ends 8. Halloween (2018) 9. Halloween Kills 10. Halloween (2007) 11. Halloween: The Curse of Michael Meyers 12. Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Meyers 13. Halloween: Resurrection Great video, Chris!
I’m very excited to see those reviews on your channel! Nice ranking! I’m glad I’m not the only one who ranks Halloween 5 pretty low, I want to enjoy that film but can’t for some reason. I like how our ranking of the Blumhouse films are reversed and how we have the majority of the same films in our top five! Thank you, I appreciate the support my friend.
@ChrisBrockYT Absolutely! Like I've said, I'm fairly new to the franchise as a whole. My first ever Halloween film was the original sequel, and even then, it only ranks in my top 5. So it's really tough to rank these as I've only seen them all handful of times, and I don't quite have the nostalgia for them. The new trilogy overall is hit or miss. 2018 had some rough dialogue but a very good Michael, especially in Kills. Kills is enjoyable, but the dialogue feels extremely heavy-handed. I can appreciate the message, I just wish it was more subtle. And lastly, with Ends, I might be on an island with this one, but I do think it is the most interesting one in the trilogy. Is it perfect? No, of course not. But I do think it handled the message of Kills much better and that evil doesn't die. It just evolves. And sure, being experimental with the final film in the trilogy is extremely risky, but I enjoy the film flaws and all. I think it could've been done better. Maybe introduce Cory a lot sooner in the series to plant the seed for what's to come. Idk, I still think the new trilogy, Season of the Witch, the two Rob Zombie films, and even Curse are better than 5 and Resurrection. Curse is another fascinating entry. Good kills, Michael's look is great, and I do love the atmosphere. For me, where it falters is the explanation behind Michael's evil, and the characters overall are pretty flat, with the exception of Loomis. I kind of just liked the idea behind Michael being possessed by evil, and that's it. I do find the film entertaining enough and will give it another chance and see if it grows on me. Sorry for the wall of text, great chat Chris!
@@ThatGuyMattYT It’s one of my favorite franchises even though it can be a messy one at times. I’ve personally changed my opinion quite a bit on some films. I’ve always looked at Halloween II as an extension of John Carpenter’s Halloween so as a package deal they’re my favorites. I wholeheartedly agree with what you said about the new trilogy. Halloween 2018 & Halloween Kills both have amazing kills, great soundtracks and James Jude Courtney is great as Michael. The main problem I have with them is the dialogue, certain characters like Dr. Sartain and the not so subtle way of conveying the messages / themes of the films. I don’t disagree with your take on Halloween Ends, had it not been marketed as this epic showdown finale between Michael & Laurie I think it would be looked at in a much more positive way. It was the most subtle and effective of the trilogy when it came to delivering its message. I’ve never been a huge fan of resurrection or the Rob Zombie films. I didn’t like the backstory they gave Michael in the remake. As much as I love Halloween 6 they shouldn’t have explained Michael’s Evil. I think they did decent with all of the loose ends Halloween 5 created but when you dive into Michael’s motive it gets muddy. You’re fine I sent a wall of text also 😅 again I can’t wait to check out your reviews of the films to hear more of your opinion on them.
Your top two and bottom two are the exact same as my ranking… 1. Halloween (1978) 2. Halloween II (1981) 3. Halloween Kills 4. Season of the Witch 5. Halloween (2018) 6. Halloween H20 7. Halloween 4 8. Halloween Ends 9. Rob Zombie’s Halloween 10. The Curse of Michael Myers 11. Halloween 5 12. Rob Zombie’s Halloween 2 13. Halloween: Resurrection

I’ll never put anyone down over their opinion of movies. We all like what we like. Awesome ranking! A few years ago I would have had H20 in a similar spot but it’s went down for me over the years. I see that you have Halloween 5 pretty low. Did you have the same issues with it that I did?
Chris Brock - Halloween: Ends (2022) has inspired me to make my own “Halloween” movie pitch. More specifically a direct sequel to Halloween: Ends (2022). It’s a direct sequel to Ends. By Byron Scott Weaver Halloween: Reborn - A sequel that would pick up after the events of Halloween: Ends (2022). Synopsis: “Halloween: Reborn” - It picks right up after the events of Halloween: Ends (2022). It switches back and forth between Allyson and the killer (dealing with spilt personality). It would bounce back and forth from Allyson’s P.O.V. then it would switch to the killers P.O.V. depending on the situation or a specific scene and it would take place in Russellville, Illinois. Laurie Strode would pass away from natural causes but Allyson would be on trial for the “murder” of Laurie Strode. It also delves into the psyche’s shadows, blending personal anguish with a critique of societal decay. It’s a visceral exploration of inner demons and external chaos, where each scene serves as a haunting narrative chapter, drawing viewers into a world of intense emotion and raw confrontation. The first part of the story would take place on the eve of Samhain and it would focus on the overall holiday of Halloween and somewhat focusing on Michael Myers aka The Shape. The story would flash forward to October 30, 2018 it would explain what happened to Allyson and then the story shifts to four years later. On November 11, 2022 once all of the mayhem that took place on Halloween of that year Allyson leaves Haddonfield, Illinois to start fresh. She learns some tragic news that changes her life going forward. Smith’s Grove has an unexpected guest and it doesn’t end well. The more Allyson starts to have more nightmares and the more she start to hallucinate more tragic things happen in the town of Russellville, Illinois. Allyson would be on the news for being reported “MISSING” and “DO NOT APPROACH” because of how dangerous she’s become, after she escapes Smith’s Grove Sanitarium just when things can’t get any worse they do, she would be on trial for the “murder” of Laurie Strode. Towards the end of the film she visits rehab to seek help from a therapist and we see a change in Allyson’s behavior for a while. But she gets tempted to do one more crime after being her normal self, the crime that she was tempted to do turns out to be a lot more serious than she thought. The end of the film Allyson leaves an interrogation room to go back to her new house, where she puts on a very familiar looking mask then leaves the house ending her rampage in Russellville, Illinois.

Nice ranking, I really like your top five! I see that you have Halloween 5 & Halloween H20 ranked on the lower end like me. Did you have the same problems with the films that I did?
I use to hate it as a kid but I’ve grown to really enjoy it. If I’m in a Myers mood I’d obviously pick a different film but Halloween III is a pretty good (Halloween Themed) movie.
13) Halloween 5 (Jamie is rendered mute for the majority of the film, Dr. Loomis seems like he's unhinged and obsessed, Rachel is k!lled way early, and it's mostly boring) 12) Halloween 6 (I am one of the very few who prefers the director's cut (could be ranked higher). One of the best Myers, I like Tommy and the tone, but the theatrical ending always frustrates me) 11) Halloween 2; 2009 (Used to be my least favorite, but through the years, I came to appreciate certain aspects. Cinematography in the RZ ones is really solid, Michael is a lot more fierce, the dream sequence is really good and I like the development with Laurie and how the events of the previous film affected her life. The White Horse is terrible, some of the dialogue is bad, I dont like the direction they took Loomis in, and Michael's torn mask takes away from the character in my opinion) 10) Halloween Resurrection (By any means, it's not a good movie. Laurie's fall destroyed the franchise for a number of years. I do dig the concept with Dangertainment. Michael's mask and presence is an improvement over H20 and I actually think Busta Rhymes' character is the best in the movie) 9) Halloween; 2007 (Again, my biggest issue is some of the dialogue. I also think some of the scenes with young Michael at the sanitarium had more potential. The film itself is a ramped up version of the 1978 film, which im not a big fan of that aspect. However, Tyler Mane is great, and the film does have some enjoyment. Certainly the better of both Zombie films) 8) Halloween H20 (The masks always take away from the experience for me, and the CGI mask is unforgivable. The film itself is fine for the most part and a nice comeback for the franchise) 7) Halloween Kills (The heavy-handed dialogue lowers this movie down, and in some instances, the film feels slow, but everything else from the rampage to the performance of JJC as Michael is amazing. The firefighters scene is probably the single best scene involving Myers, and the flashback scenes were perfection) 6) Halloween 4 (The movie has a big budget feel to it with more events surrounding Michael's return to the town. There's some likable characters and it almost hits the same scary atmosphere of the original) 5) Halloween Ends (Guaranteed a definitive end to the path of terror of Michael. There should've been more to the fight scene with Laurie and Michael, and some moment of redemption for Corey where he tried to fight back to save Allyson and Laurie. I still think the film has solid writing, solid k!lls and a very good score) 4) Halloween 2; 1981 (The hospital setting was a really good touch, it's just a really good film to watch back to back with '78 as one) 3) Halloween 3: Season of the Witch (If this was its own film, I feel it could be received better. I still think it's largely underrated. The story is something bold and unique, the soundtrack is iconic, and the final scene is so memorable) 2) Halloween; 1978 (Not a lot can be said of this timeless classic that scarred me for many years, but there's one I prefer a bit more) 1) Halloween; 2018 (It's the first one I got to watch in theaters, so that means a lot. I like that it has more action and locations, while also having very solid performances here and there. 2018 is hands down the best of the sequels and my all time favorite of the franchise)
Nice ranking! You make a lot of great points. It always bothered me that they killed rachel off in Halloween 5 and I do also feel that the film is boring. I definitely prefer the producer’s cut of Halloween 6 over the theatrical. I use to love Halloween H20 but the constant mask change is so hard to unsee now! I couldn’t agree more with you about the dialogue in the Rob zombie Halloween movies. For me it doesn’t work for Halloween but for his other films it doesn’t bother me. I love to see Halloween III ranked so high, it’s a very good Halloween theme movie that I think people should give another watch.
The films I don't care for: 13 - Halloween 2 (2009) - I really like the hospital chase, and I really the Bracketts. Everything else about this movie is annoying to me. The writing is obnoxious, with too much talk of naked women and swears, this is just annoying to listen to, in my opinion. I do not like the side-plot of Michael and the white horse at all, I can't take Michael seriously when he looks like a generic hobo, the violence is too over the top for the most part, I hate Loomis in this, the ending is a bit too silly, and while Laurie's story can be interesting, and perhaps realistic, if I have trouble caring about her, the film feels like for naught. There are qualities that can be good about this, and if you enjoy this type of film, more power to you, but it's not my kind film the way it's executed. 12 - Halloween (2007) - The first act is too over the top for me, I hate the dialogue throughout the childhood sequences, who asked for a Halloween with that breakfast scene. The backstory for Michael is as simple as they come, making it a lot less interesting, and the kills in the beginning are very brutal, but I think it's a little too try hard in the early moments. I do admittingly like the Sanitarium scenes a decent amount, it is interesting to see how things started off there. Even if it's not entirely necessary, it actually is kind of enjoyable to explore for a bit. Would a whole film around it work? I don't know, but it's a thought. The escape sequence is hit or miss (a giant miss in the Director's cut, Halloween films should never have a rape scene, and one this explicit at that). Once you get to the remake part, it's just an inferior copy of the original, with a couple decent set pieces like the backyard at the Myers house. For the most part, it's dialogue, especially early on that hits it, and most of the rest just not being that interesting to me. For both of these, I just do not like Rob Zombie's style of filmmaking, so this really colors my thoughts about these 2. I haven't watched these in years, so I plan to watch them this year to refresh my mind, but I doubt this will change 11 - Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers - atmosphere is done well, and the mask was one of the better ones of this era, but the rock and roll soundtrack takes me out of it, and I hate the thorn cult idea, the kills didn't work for me either, perhaps a bit too cheesy and over the top feeling. The films that are fine, but a bit weak: 10 - Halloween Resurrection - Honestly, this is just a movie that exists. I do think the atmosphere was done well enough, and the mask and performance of Michael wasn't terrible. The way Laurie was killed though, was just dirty, the other characters are the most nothing in this franchise, and its too silly to work. The Scream-era feel isn't my cup of tea either. I don't hate it like many do, but I don't care too much for it either. 9 - Halloween Kills - Easily the most mixed bag entry for me. There is plenty of stuff I love: the first 30 minutes were amazing imo, the kills were brutal in a good way, some of them, especially Cameron's were truly horrifying. There's some nice atmosphere in parts, the flashbacks were great, and James Jude Courtney killed it in this one. But the script is definitely one of the worst in the series, the pacing felt off and mismatched in this one, leaving it feeling a bit too slow despite how much is crammed in, the Evil Dies Tonight plot should just burn, the execution of that was horrible, over the top, and hand-hold preachy. The final act was good, but the cinematography for the mob fight could've been much better. 8 - Halloween H20 - I'll definitely get flak for this one. The opening act was solidly done, and Laurie's story here is probably the best in the series, and definitely the most interesting part of the film. Unfortunately, I find the rest a bit dull in comparison. The post-Scream era of slashers aren't my favorite, so I don't really care for how the dialogue is written in this film, I don't like how clean and bright the film looks, there's virtually no atmosphere after we get out of Illinois. The music isn't even remotely scary or sound like a Halloween film at all, making it feel much more generic, and this Michael is easily the worst the series. The kills aren't that great, save for Sarah's, and it takes too long to feel like a horror film. I like slow-paced horror films, but this hardly feels like it wants to be after the first scene until the final act. The final act is good, though, even if not that scary. This does go over Halloween Kills because, while I don't think the highs are as good as Kills, the negatives aren't as bad here, making for a more consistent watch, with at least an interesting story, but I want something scarier for my Halloween film.
The films I like: 7 - Halloween 3: Season of the Witch - Funny how the one without Michael is smack dab in the middle. It's not a bad movie at all, it's got an interesting premise with the most disturbing gore in the franchise (yes, even more than the Rob Zombie film and Kills. Those films are brutal, but this film adds a true eeriness to it all). The atmosphere, cinematography, and music are all top notch. However, slashers are more of my cup of tea, and I find some of the more unrealistic aspects a little too distracting, such as how Silver Shamrock was able to get a piece of Stonehenge without anyone knowing. The 2nd act is also a bit slow, feeling more like a mystery than a full on horror film. The lack of scares in the 2nd act hurt it a bit for me, but it's at least an interesting film with a lot actually for it. I just would've preferred if this was the start of its own franchise, maybe make it a spinoff franchise, as opposed to trying to change the course of this one. Sorry, but I do prefer more Michael Myers, he's my childhood boogeyman, after all. 6 - Halloween Ends - Admittingly, when I first watched, I was actually pretty engrossed into the story. The opening scene is actually pretty suspenseful and shocking the first time, and I did actually find Corey a bit disturbing from time to time. I also think this film might just be Jamie Lee Curtis' best performance in the series, and I liked seeing Laurie trying to become the person she was before the attack in 1978, what her daughter would've wanted, I felt for Laurie in this one a lot. I actually found it quite interesting throughout the first 2 acts. However, the final act was definitely rushed, just trying to quickly fill a checklist before finishing the film. This final act needed another 30 minutes, at least, to flesh out both the new story in this film, and bring back the plot and motivations established in the previous 2 films, maybe have Michael taking advantage of Corey's new state to cause distractions while he heads out with some of his regained strength to stalk and kill again, have 2 different shapes stalking about to keep the message of the film, while still becoming more of the final film everyone (myself included) were hoping for. It's this neglect to do so that prevents me from bumping this another rank up, as the final act, while giving some of what the people wanted, felt very haphazardly done. I couldn't get into the kills, as there was no real buildup, hurting its payoff, and the fight, while I liked it, felt like a completely different movie. If they strengthened this film's final act to contain more of what I mentioned above, give Lindsey that final chase scene that she really should've had, allowing the characters from previous films to have more time to develop and join together when they feel something's wrong to bring back their motivations from that night 4 years earlier, it could've felt more complete and more satisfying. I like it as its own thing, but as a final chapter, it does still feel a bit lacking. 5 - Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers - This film has one of the best atmosphere's in the franchise, hands down. I also really love the foster sibling relationship between Rachel and Jamie, I'm an absolute sucker for this kind of sibling fluff. Danielle Harris does an amazing job as Jamie, and creates a pretty good feeling of vulnerability throughout. This film also probably gives some of Loomis' most interesting interactions, with Michael and Loomis at the gas station ,and the conversation between Loomis and Reverend Jackson Sayer. The final act is well done, with the rooftop chase and twist ending being a real disturbing one. However, while they got the atmosphere of the original down, it is a little lacking in suspense at quite a few points, making a bit of the movie a little dull, not bad, but could've been better. Michael, unfortunately doesn't look too good this time, with the mask being the blandest in the series, and the movements a bit strange here and there. This is also definitely the safest of the sequels, but that's not entirely a bad thing. It's comfort food for the most part, most of it isn't what I'd call outstanding compared to some other bits in the series, but it's overall enjoyable.
The films I love: 4 - Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers - Okay, I know everyone already hates me for this one, but this is my guilty pleasure movie, so don't be too hard on me. As I've grown older, I have most certainly become aware of its flaws. The story is barely existent, the characters we follow are a bit... interesting, it is a pretty slow film, they introduced the man in black. But despite all this, I really have a good time with this one. While it definitely has a different look from the others, I still feel a creepy, Halloween night vibe from this one. I like how Michael does a lot of stalking in this one, and what' essentially a random set of teenagers for the most part. In some ways, this Michael feels closest to that original vibe, with all the stalking and pretending to be someone else to get closer to his victim, it's put on stage quite a bit this time around, and I feel many of the sequels don't thrust into this as much as they could. The mask is definitely different, but I've always found this one kind of creepy. Especially when shot right, I'd call it one of Michael's scariest looks. Some of the set pieces by the final act I find quite frightening, particularly that Laundry Chute scene, that's a scene of pure suspense and terror. I actually Danielle Harris' performance is even better in this one than in n4, despite not having as much to work with. Also, I actually kind of like Tina, she seems like a sweet girl who just can't quite figure out her priorities, she's a confused teenage girl, who's probably aware of this due to how bubbly she can be. Her friends are a bit of another story... Even if the film is definitely a bit of a mess, it does things in a way that I somehow find enjoyable and creepy. For a horror film, that's all I really need. These last 3 films are practically neck and neck for me, I adore all 3 of these. 3 - Halloween 2 (1981) - Even with the new trilogy out, it still feels wrong to not put this one up after watching the original, I just love how this takes place immediately where the first left off. Seeing Michael continue his stalking down the streets in the beginning is creepy, and the hospital setting is truly unsettling the more isolated it gets. This films definitely has some of the best kills in the series, with many giving me the creeps every time, and the final act is still one of the more unnerving ones, in my opinion. It is a bit unfortunate that the character of Laurie doesn't have much to do this time, but what could she really do recovering in a hospital? In some ways, it's more of the same, in some its not, but wither way it's a great compliment to the original film. 2 - Halloween (2018) - Being a 2000s kid, this was the first Halloween film I ever got to see in theaters, and it shattered past my already high expectations. I can never forget how I felt watching this in theaters, the chill as that first music track played, the shock at Michael snapping a kid's neck, the disturbing voyeuristic feel of that long take, The discomfort of watching Allyson's friends get killed, my terror during the motion sensor scene, I admit to screaming at that part, my fingers going numb with fear during the final act. I just love this film so much, and I can only hope I'll ever have an experience like this again. The film has many of my favorite set pieces in the entire franchise: The bathroom attack, the one take, the motion sensor yard, Laurie's house at the final act. The kills had a great balance of simplicity and disturbing natures, with how the onscreen kills were mostly simple, but effective, with the off screen kills being horrifically brutal, making the imagination go wild as to how it exactly happened, the score is fantastic, Jamie Lee Curtis was great here, I even liked most of the comedy (except during Vicki's death, that was unwarranted at that moment), and even the Sartain twist, as it felt like an interesting contrast between the two sides of obsession between Loomis' take, and Sartain's. They both became obsessed with Michael, but took completely opposite paths, I like that. I'm always going to have those fond memories of this film, so I can't ever see it dropping, this was all I could've hoped for at the time of its release. 1- Halloween (1978) - All in all though, the original is still, to this date, my favorite horror film, maybe even my favorite film of all time. It's what solidified my taste for horror. I love the use of atmosphere in this film, making even the simplest and safest looking of areas feel haunting and unsettling. The simplistic soundtracks builds up the never-ending suspense masterfully, it's sometimes almost trance-like, even. This is still the film where I'd say Michael is at his creepiest, how he just stares from afar and is gone in an instant. The stalking is part of the reason Michael scares me so much, including as a kid, where I knew who he was without even seeing the movies. I love the deliberate slow, but eventful pace of this film. While it takes a while for the action to get going, Michael's presence is always persisting here, making feel unnerved and on edge, even when it's completely safe. The final act still gives me chills, and I still say the ending scene here is the most frightening ending in history, how it proves that Loomis' theories of Michael are correct, Michael is pure evil, and now no one is safe, as he could be literally anywhere, which leads into one concept that keeps this movie frightening to me to this very day: the concept that we may never truly be safe at any moment. Even in our own homes, we may be watched from inside out safe space and never even know it. Any turn you take could be your last, and you won't realize until it's already too late. I find Bob's death a perfect representation of this. This is a lot to read, ,I know, but this is my absolute favorite film franchise, and I'd never want to part with it. If another film comes, I will watch it (unless it's Rob Zombie, then I'd probably wait until it's available outside of theaters).
Our rankings are a little different but that’s the fun of it, I enjoy seeing how other Halloween fans rank the series. I honestly don’t hate any of the films like I use to but I definitely have my favorites to rewatch that I think are just peak Halloween. I appreciate you leaving such a detailed explanation of your ranking! I really dig your top 3.
Halloween 1978 Halloween 4 The Return Of Michael Myers Halloween Kills Halloween 2018 Halloween The Curse Of Michael Myers Halloween II 1981 Halloween H20 Halloween 5 The Return Of Michael Myers Halloween Ends Halloween Resurrection Halloween III Season Of The Witch Halloween 2007 Halloween II 2009
@@KYeRmit.so-cool I understand that. I actually really like it. I know it’s not perfect with the theatrical cut being a little heavy on the flash editing and the producer’s cut going with the weird Michael & Jamie baby. I think Michael looks really good in Halloween 6 and is actually scarier than he was in Halloween 4 & 5. I also really enjoy the kills, atmosphere and performance by Donald Pleasance in the film.
I respect your opinions on H2 and Resurrection, *but personally, I’d rather take comedy over depression in any movie. H2 was WAYYY too depressing and lifeless to watch for me.*
I completely get that. I think that’s why I use to rank resurrection higher. I think H2 tried to do something different and I can respect it for that even though I’m not crazy about it like others are. If I had to pick one to watch with a group of friends I’d definitely go with resurrection because it’s going to be a lot more entertaining.
@@ChrisBrockYT yeah. Plus ironically, Busta Rhymes carries the comedy of the movie for me, *even if I’m more of a LL Cool J type who ironically ended being the possible FIRST bl**k guy to survive horror movies like both H20 and my favorite WB movie, Deep Blue Sea.*
@ChrisBrockYT I understand why alot of people hate it one reason why I love it is because it would be scary if some people are trapped in Micheal house and the killer is there and no one knows that
HALLOWEEN (1978) 10/10 H II (1981) 6/10 , H III (1981) (unrelated, but so what?) 8/10 H IV (1988) 8/10 , H V (1989) 9.5/10 , H VI (1995) (Producer's Cut) 10/10 ✝ Rob Zombie (2007) (with alternate end on DVD) 9.5/10 THE END! Reboots do not bother me so much. But I do NOT accept alternate timelines and multiverses!
Nice ranking! That’s one thing about the Halloween franchise there is so many timelines, it can be a little hard to explain to someone who has never watched any of them. I don’t really blame you for skipping them.
@@ChrisBrockYT Hey, I like you bro. The reason HALLOWEEN VI (1995) is so high on my list is because of the great formula. Tommy was mentally scarred in HALLOWEEN (1978). And Dr. Loomis is now dying. And it's as if by multiplying a negative number (Dr. Loomis' dying state) by another negative number (Tommy's mentally scarred state), we get a positive number. They make up for the weaknesses of the other. ✝ 10/10 Hands down!
I’ve learnt that those films are not for me. I liked them slightly better this time around but I still couldn’t see myself picking them out of all the Halloween movies to watch.
1. Halloween 2 (1981) 2. Halloween 3: Season of the Witch 3. Halloween Ends 4. Halloween 6: the Curse of Michael Myers 5. Halloween (1978) (Yes, Carpenter's film was the first. But... It's overrated and hasn't aged very well) 6. Halloween 4: Returne of Michael Myers 7. Halloween Kills 8. Halloween 5 9. Halloween: Resurrection 10. Halloween 2 (2009) 11. Halloween H20 12. Halloween (2007) 13. Halloween (2018) (You will argue, l hate it for many reasons)
Great ranking, I really like your top five. I love seeing Season Of The Witch & Halloween 6 ranked so high! I adore the original Halloween but I could see how some people could find it overrated with its legendary reputation. I use to strongly dislike Halloween 2018. I still have problems with it but I’m curious on what makes it your least favorite of the series.
Haha, I’ll never forget when I first watched it. I was so disappointed but it has grew on me even though I still have problems with it. I still hate how they set up the ending of Halloween Kills just to do a huge time skip where Laurie and Alyson are okay emotionally when Karen just died in the last film 😅
The mask is iconic to the viewers and fans of the franchise but in Halloween 2018 only the events of the original film took place. implying that the mask is his source of power was odd imo. If anything the clown mask he used to kill Judith his sister and first victim would mean more to Michael.

I appreciate you coming back to the channel to check out the video!
This is an excellent ranking.. good for you!
Thank you!
Great list! You nailed the bottom 5 and your top 2 match up with mine. However I would rank 2018 much higher and 1982 much lower.
Fact.
Thank you! That’s awesome that our list is pretty similar. 2018 has made its way up the list for me over the years so I wouldn’t be surprised if it was in my top 5 soon.
1. Halloween 2018
2. Halloween 78
3. Halloween 2
4. Halloween Kills
5. H20
6. Halloween 6
7. Halloween 4 (HATED Myers look)

9. RZ Halloween
10. Halloween 5
11. Halloween Resurrection
12. RZ Halloween 2
13. Halloween Ends (They did Michael so dirty in that movie and I hate them for it)
Solid ranking! I also agree with Michael mask being very weak in Halloween 4 and Michael in general being weak in Halloween ends 😅
The H2O ending is the best in the series imo. Resurrection can frick off. In my head canon, Michael was underneath that mask.
It should have been the ending of that timeline for sure imo.
@@ChrisBrockYTjust like 2007 Halloween’s alternate ending should have been the movie itself, not a damn depressing duology.

Nice ranking, from what I see our rankings are pretty similar other than a few differences. We definitely agree on the bottom tier films!
Before I watch here's my top 3:
1. Halloween '18 (hot take: James Jude Courtney is 10 times better at playing the character of Myers than Nick Castle. Yeah, I said it)
2. RZ Hallowen 1 (brutal, fun, and Michael was savage)
@@ChrisBrockYT unrelated but what's your favorite mask from the franchise?
@@kylein9869 I’d say my favorite is the 78 mask but Halloween 2018 & Kills are right there with it.
I also like the Halloween 2, Halloween 6 and the first Rob Zombie Halloween mask.
@@ChrisBrockYT mine is a toss up between the OG mask and Resurrection. I always liked how sinister and angry that mask looked in Resurrection. It gets alot of hate though and I don't know why. I like them all though, except for part 4 and 5 for obvious reasons.

I love the fact that you have Curse of Michael Myers so high! There are not too many who appreciate it but it is one of my absolute favorites too
I really love the movie even with its flaws.

Wow! You put Halloween 6
Pretty high up in the rank…
…that’s interesting.
I plan to do my own ranking in video form when I review all films on my channel, so this might change as time goes on, but here is my current ranking:

Chris Brock - Halloween: Ends (2022) has inspired me to make my own “Halloween” movie pitch. More specifically a direct sequel to Halloween: Ends (2022). It’s a direct sequel to Ends.
By Byron Scott Weaver
Halloween: Reborn - A sequel that would pick up after the events of Halloween: Ends (2022).
Synopsis:
“Halloween: Reborn” - It picks right up after the events of Halloween: Ends (2022).

@@ChrisBrockYTI had the same problems as you did for H5, H20.
I assure you that traditionally the cameraman has nothing to do with props and wardrobe.
I'm glad everyone seems to put Halloween III pretty high on their lists, that one is super underrated.
Loomis seems like he's unhinged and obsessed, Rachel is k!lled way early, and it's mostly boring)
12) Halloween 6 (I am one of the very few who prefers the director's cut (could be ranked higher). One of the best Myers, I like Tommy and the tone, but the theatrical ending always frustrates me)
11) Halloween 2; 2009 (Used to be my least favorite, but through the years, I came to appreciate certain aspects. Cinematography in the RZ ones is really solid, Michael is a lot more fierce, the dream sequence is really good and I like the development with Laurie and how the events of the previous film affected her life. The White Horse is terrible, some of the dialogue is bad, I dont like the direction they took Loomis in, and Michael's torn mask takes away from the character in my opinion)
10) Halloween Resurrection (By any means, it's not a good movie. Laurie's fall destroyed the franchise for a number of years. I do dig the concept with Dangertainment. Michael's mask and presence is an improvement over H20 and I actually think Busta Rhymes' character is the best in the movie)
9) Halloween; 2007 (Again, my biggest issue is some of the dialogue. I also think some of the scenes with young Michael at the sanitarium had more potential. The film itself is a ramped up version of the 1978 film, which im not a big fan of that aspect. However, Tyler Mane is great, and the film does have some enjoyment. Certainly the better of both Zombie films)
8) Halloween H20 (The masks always take away from the experience for me, and the CGI mask is unforgivable. The film itself is fine for the most part and a nice comeback for the franchise)
7) Halloween Kills (The heavy-handed dialogue lowers this movie down, and in some instances, the film feels slow, but everything else from the rampage to the performance of JJC as Michael is amazing. The firefighters scene is probably the single best scene involving Myers, and the flashback scenes were perfection)
6) Halloween 4 (The movie has a big budget feel to it with more events surrounding Michael's return to the town. There's some likable characters and it almost hits the same scary atmosphere of the original)
5) Halloween Ends (Guaranteed a definitive end to the path of terror of Michael. There should've been more to the fight scene with Laurie and Michael, and some moment of redemption for Corey where he tried to fight back to save Allyson and Laurie. I still think the film has solid writing, solid k!lls and a very good score)
4) Halloween 2; 1981 (The hospital setting was a really good touch, it's just a really good film to watch back to back with '78 as one)
3) Halloween 3: Season of the Witch (If this was its own film, I feel it could be received better. I still think it's largely underrated. The story is something bold and unique, the soundtrack is iconic, and the final scene is so memorable)
2) Halloween; 1978 (Not a lot can be said of this timeless classic that scarred me for many years, but there's one I prefer a bit more)
1) Halloween; 2018 (It's the first one I got to watch in theaters, so that means a lot.
The films I don't care for:
13 - Halloween 2 (2009) - I really like the hospital chase, and I really the Bracketts.
I haven't watched these in years, so I plan to watch them this year to refresh my mind, but I doubt this will change
11 - Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers - atmosphere is done well, and the mask was one of the better ones of this era, but the rock and roll soundtrack takes me out of it, and I hate the thorn cult idea, the kills didn't work for me either, perhaps a bit too cheesy and over the top feeling.
The films that are fine, but a bit weak:
10 - Halloween Resurrection - Honestly, this is just a movie that exists.
The films I like:
7 - Halloween 3: Season of the Witch - Funny how the one without Michael is smack dab in the middle.
The films I love:
4 - Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers - Okay, I know everyone already hates me for this one, but this is my guilty pleasure movie, so don't be too hard on me.

Nice ranking, the top half of your list is full of bangers imo!
@@KYeRmit.so-coolDo you think it should be lower or higher than 6?
@@ChrisBrockYT I feel like it has nothing to give, just a really awful movie, bottom 3 at the highest. Very dull in my opinion
I wish it was an anthology series. 1 and 3 are my favourites.
I often wished it would have went that route. I love some of the sequels but the possibilities would be endless when it comes to an anthology series.

Those are great choices imo!
I love all the halloween movies, halloween resurrection is one of my favorites it does have some problems but I can overlooked the issues
I’m glad to hear that and I can still find enjoyment with Halloween Resurrection. It’s so goofy that I can’t help but laugh and have a fun time.
@ChrisBrockYT I understand why alot of people hate it one reason why I love it is because it would be scary if some people are trapped in Micheal house and the killer is there and no one knows that
I have only seen the original and the 2018 version, and while both of them are awesome, I actually prefer the more modernized version
I like part 8
I find it extremely enjoyable with a group of friends. Busta Rhymes kills me when he karate kicks Michael out of the window 😅

The Zombie films, I just have no reason to watch them again.

That mask means everything to Michael wym bro
The mask is iconic to the viewers and fans of the franchise but in Halloween 2018 only the events of the original film took place. implying that the mask is his source of power was odd imo.
If anything the clown mask he used to kill Judith his sister and first victim would mean more to Michael.
