Really great video. Thanks for taking the time to go into such detail. I just purchased the Blink Floodlight Camera and had trouble getting the flood light to work. Spoke with Blink support and they were useless telling me to replace the floodlight batteries which were brand new. The problem was that when I first added the camera to my app, the floodlight was not connected. Once I deleted the camera from my app, plugged in the floodlight and then added the camera (with floodlight plugged in), everything worked fine.
To Robert Greene: I did the same thing, and now you've told me how to fix it. Thanks!
The documentation needs to make that clear
You are my hero for committing to wait out and test the usb recording without subscription! Thank you for doing it, and I’m looking forward to the results!
Thank you for this video. After setting up my Blink Floodlight, I had some issues and your video assisted me in fixing it.
Thank you.
video quality seems to be bad for a 2021 product but your review is spot on
its much better video quality than competing cams for the same price.
Your definitely correct. I'm having issues with quality day and night even with everything connected with full bars
Ring is no better. No camera under $500 is better.
Thank you for this video!! I was having all kinds of issues and with your step by step I successfully have it up and running!! Thanks again!
Thx bro forgot to take the paper off the battery was wondering why it wasn’t working
Got 2 brand new flood light camera. But the lights have a 0 batery life. They will flash when I put the plate back on. Any thoughts?. Maybe new batery?
Having same issue! 🤔😏
I already own the Outdoor so picked up the floodlight mount for £35. For the money it's fine, considering the Ring version is four times the cost. If you already own the Outdoor it's a no brainer.
What you don’t answer - is the motion detection of the light infrared-sensitive (like to human skin temperature), or do things like cars set it off?
PIR sensor detects heat movement and any heat source like humans and cars moving will set it off. Blink doesn't have AI human or vehicle detection.
@@LifeHackster Thanks. My Blink cam motion detection get set off by anything blowing in the wind. (Trees, bushes, etc). In contrast, most motion sensor floodlights only get set off by warm things (like dogs, humans). This floodlight using the camera for motion detection is bad.
The LEGEND!
You can change the sensitivity for the motion.
Loving the blink videos, interested to see what happens with local storage, only thing stopping me from getting more cameras
I have 4 cameras. I use subscription plus have a large capacity memory card in the blink sync module.
I haven't even come close to having storage issues except on the app but that just requires you to delete them. Those even deleted are saved on the memory card.
Can plug usb into sync module to store extra videos.
Thank you! :Not sure why there are ZERO instructions for installation. I had no idea what the metal bracket was used for. Thanks!
Thanks for your thorough review. Just waiting for the rain to stop before mounting mine.
Cool..thanks
Does this work with xt2 cameras?
Got one of these at the bin store for $7 a couple weeks ago. It was the kit that came with the camera and the white square thing
Nice
Great video… used it to install mine. Great system for the prize. Local USB storage negates need for subscription as some complained here 😂
Nice job. Easy to watch video to give a great overview in a short time.
Always giving us a Great explanation of your gadgets making this get a better experience of each product. 👍🏽
Pretty good demonstration & explanation but would've been better if the neighbor's glaring floodlights didn't cause blind spots in the distanced views.
The cameras are great for the price I've had mine for about 3 yrs never had a problem.
Good video straight on with it and no film flam good job bud
Hey I just installed 2 of these units and for some reason the lights do not come on, nor does it give me a option to do so.. any ideas?? Please help! Thank you 🙏
@justen I’m having the same issue with connecting the flood lights to turn on! Did you figure it out by now?
@@mjai1120 ya just removed the back and the battery cover and eventually it synced. Took a few times to do it with the app and the little White module that it comes with
Really good review. It helped me discover a problem. Thanks.
Good video as always but if you already have floodlights near your camera then you don't need this. Since Blink's motion detection works as a trigger for alexa routines just put a smart switch on your outdoor lights.
I'm looking into getting security cams for the first time could you explain this a little further for me?
@tymmsdd4005 apparently they will not lol
@@jessetorres2657😂😂
Thanks for the video. So the video quality at night is pretty bad, almost bought this thing. Will search for something better so.
Thank you for your assistance on this videos. I just got mine and surely help me lot my dearest friend 😁✌️
Always Blink, before you ring…
ring sucks. blink for life 🎉🎉. Just got 2 flood lights on sale at the A store. Got the blink doorbell, and always wanted the flood light, but I missed sale last time… not this time 🎉🎉🎉
Great video! Im having a problem with my floodlight tho, the floodlight is not turning ON even when there is motion detected. Any suggestions? Thank you!!
I’m having the same issue. Did you get yours resolved?
@@desertgirl3374 I installed mine few days ago, have same problem as you & other poster, Blink tech support is useless. I see that LifeHackster doesn't reply to tech problems.
Always spot on reviews!
I bought this months ago and none of us could get it to work. Blink did not bother helping either. Here I am months later trying again. Something just wasn’t connecting then. So hopefully this video helps, thanks!
Did it work
I have several blink cameras set up outside. If I installed the floodlight blink next to, or near these cameras, when the floodlight is activated, will my already installed blink cameras. switch to color?
It really depends on the positioning. The light sensor of your other Blink cameras needs to be exposed to the light for it to turn to color mode. You can always turn OFF the IR on your other Blinks though forcing it to be in color.
Thank you so much for this wonderful vídeo will install mine today
To bad they don’t have a plug in power ( that feeds the light and camera ). Also, don’t like that it can’t be mounted to a hang-over. Agree with you, I have a few older models that still work good so these new accessories are no good to me. Thanks…nice job as always.
i'm reverse, wireless is what i want, so i can mount it exactly where i want i only have two wired floodlight locations on my entire home. i get the advantages of both tho.
The floodlight mount for outdoor camera 3rd gen consumes the camera's battery very quickly.
What can I do?
Does work with blink outdoor camera 4gen
Question, I just installed mine, and they light didn't come out. It is wireless. I just use batteries, which make me wonder if those batteries have the power to run those lights and the camera ?
Does the Blink floodlight cam come with a mount for eave/ceiling? Unable to find a straight answer anywhere
Thank you for your excellent reviews. Have you ever consider doing your testing in a darker yard without all the street lights behind your fence?
Reccomend over the ring floodlight?
Great video bro ! Tanks just purchased mine today 😎
Thank you for the video.
Very informative video, thank you.
My father-in-law got one of these and the camera is really loose on the flood light mount. Any tips to tighten this
That's what I just mentioned too, wondered if the rubber stopper that seems to fit in the big screw hole has anything to do with anything with mounting tighter.
Good job!
Great Job Really Thorough!
Thank you. I appreciate it.
Hi.the recording option available at this camera
What would you recommend instead of this one? Around the same price range and battery operated would be preferred.
Blink at this price
Thanks for the tips..You save my life
Thanks for the info
Thank you for the tips! Much appreciated 😃🤙🏼
I had to syncing module first separately then set the camera to it separately
Question about the camera mount, snaps on, but the only thing keeping the camera from spinning in the wind is the plug, the ball on the mount is very tight but why doesn't the camera sit on the mount tightly, or am I missing something? And question 2 & 3, what is the round rubber piece that appears to fit in the back of the camera for, and the plastic key thing, other than unscrewing the big screw on the back of the camera, does that do anything else? The rest seemed semi-intuitive i suppose, quick setup instructions are minimally helpful at best. Thanks in advance for any tips.
this video seems night vision need update. color video is good . Would you please test Inqmega solar battery powered camera S518 for floodlight, mini size, dayvision and nightvision is also good thanks
Hey thanks for the review. I'm figuring there's no solar charging option for the blink flood lights?
No for the floodlights..D cell alkaline batteries only.
Thank you! Excellent video!!
Good vid, TY
Thank you :)
Great review thanks
You should do the test without the floidlight behind you cause it was blinding like liking taking picture with the sun behind you.
Great review
Great review, thank you.
Thanks for watching!
My vinyl is vertical, can I still mount it without screws?
Would this be the best battery operated camera floodlight? Thanks!
I just installed this today, only wish there was a way to make it solar powered
Thanks a lot!!!!!!!
You are welcome.
I am having trouble. I have had Blink for awhile using 1 regular outdoor camera for my front door and 1 mini cam for my living room. I bought the Flood light + camera bundle and got it set up to my app but don't have light controls at all when selecting my camera. Only the hold to talk button appears nothing about turning on lights at all. Ideas? Also since I already have my old module do I even need the one that came with this bundle?
And if it does not appear when you connect the cable to add the camera to the app, what do I have to do in that case?
Did you ever figure that out? Tried connecting multiple blink cameras and its a new system but no camera detects the floodlight. Seems the floodlight is really broken out of the box.
This camara used solar ?
Battery powered.
I followed this but its weird that once I plugged in the flood light it didn't connect right away.
Will it work if i install it upside down in the carport? Or the camera support can’t move much?
You said there are better options. Are they still battery powered? Which are they?
Great video. But I’m a little confused. I can’t use my current xt 2 cameras w this?
Unfortunately not
@@LifeHackster ty I ordered this ANd the outdoor camera. Question will cars about 25 feet away From driveway activate that light?
You saved me some aggravation. What would you suggest as a floodlight camera?
Maybe you can help me . We have 3 regular outdoor blink cameras now for over 4 years . We have added the outdoor + floodlight . We have it connected and the camera works well , BUT we can't get the floodlight to work . How do I set up another account as this is not compatible with the older models' ?
Thanks
Hello. Floodlight Mount can be connected to blink solar charger? Thanks.
great video , great job
Blink seems a lot like Wyze but a bit crappier in some areas and a bit better in others.
Way better IMO since Wyze is really wonky on the software and quality. Whereas blink is fantastic.
@LifeHackster I hope you can answer this as I’m terribly confused. Can I use the Blink floodlight mount if I keep my camera plugged into the power supply ? I wrote to Blink to ask but jeez they take forever to get back and I am out here trying to set it up. Thank you. Love your hacks.
Thank You 🙏🏼 🎉
My turn on lights icon are not showing on blink app. Any ideas???
Hi, can the flood light function without the camera?
No it doesn’t. It needs the blink camera’s sensor to function.
Great review. Salamat po.
Is it compatible with the blink camera’s zones sensing setting?
If you Want a cheap solar power Floodlight just get the Litom on sale now for $30 and its powered by sun and has better brightness and No need to add Batteries that cost money.. as for this set up. it works but with Ring floodlight and other brands like Eufy with Ptz this looks like a Joke. The add the subscription fee you might as well go bigger and better . but if you never own security cameras before this could be a good product to learn from for future upgrades to other Brands such as Eufy( No monthly fees) Blink could be a great company that can go up against Wyze and other low cost brands but its lacking in 2k optics , Ptz, software, Nigh vision, and over all durability .. I had 3 Blink cameras break on me and even thought of selling the entire system just cause its eating by squirrels and other pests when its outside. But I would recommend this if you Never had a security system before and don't want to spend a lot of money to get "started" My suggestion if you do is buy Rechargeable batteries for all the products to save on buying batteries and its better for environment.
How to put the 2 double A battery
What if it idoesnt connect and still followed all the steps ?
How long battery 🔋 life last
I have power at my location. Can I hardwire this unit somehow
I just installed the camera and the floodlight and I'm so frustrated because only show colors for 3 seconds and then goes black and white
Please help
Turn your IR off in settings
Which camera system do you use personally at your home? You review many, but which one do you find yourself using to protect your home?
I use Ring and Eufy cameras.
@@LifeHackster Thank you for sharing!
He's using whichever one is the most expensive LOL. Just like any reviewer that gets everything free. Every phone reviewer is using the iPhone 13 pro max, every car reviewers is driving the top of the line options package, every laptop reviewer is using a top of the line macbook, etc. You can bet on that.
The rest of us live a different way.
@@cryengine_x you like the assume right? I buy most of the branded name cameras that I review..if I didn’t mention in the video that a company sent me the camera…then I bought it.
You have to watch more of my videos…you bash wyze cameras and they are the cheaper option and way more features than your Blink..I personally use Ring cameras and I bought 99 percent of them from my own money..so don’t quick to judge..just because I’m a reviewer unless you are a reviewer and have a channel too.
I like Blink because it’s wireless 😊
Thank you.
which security camera supports 24/7 recording to local storage(no cloud)? thanks
Wyze Cam V3 and Eufy Indoor cams and outdoor cam pro.
@@LifeHackster Do these require sub? Wyze cam is wired btw. Not wireless like blink cam. So obviously it can record 24/7 because it doesnt have to worry about a battery. eufy also wired.
@@cryengine_x do you think there is any battery powered camera that can record 24/7?
What if camera accessories doesn't show as an option?
what's the back cover of the camera?
Hey @LifeHackster, can you provide the link to the table at 1:13?
What do you mean when you say it won’t work by itself? So if I buy this kit it won’t work? What else would I need to buy
The floodlight will not work by itself. It needs the Blink Camera.
@@LifeHackster Thank you for taking the time to reply. I figured. The wording on one of the sites said I would need a sync module to be able to have it work so I was a little confused
Batteries?
where can i get that bracket?
I have one of these but i find the audio is very low on the camera. Has anyone else had the same problem ?
do you need internet with this??
Yes.
