    I used to work for Kia/Hyundai at their corporate office. I was a bill collector, they had their own financing and would give auto loans for brand new cars or used. I don’t know how many times I was told by the customers to come repo the car because the dealer didn’t want to honor their warranty. After hearing that I told myself I would never buy a Kia or Hyundai.

    • @NovaScotiaKevin
      @NovaScotiaKevin 2 роки тому +4

      I’d be interested in knowing how many people defaulted on their loans. Here in Canada Hyundai/Kia was the first offering borderline predatory loans. Stretch out your loan to 96 months at 0% interest. The car won’t be worth it’s monthly payment after 48 months. Then people roll their old payments in to a new car after five years. Slippery slope!

    • @NovaScotiaKevin

      @@jackrichards7659 It's predatory because you can stretch out a car payment for eight years. It's not a mortgage, it's a car. And in year five it won't be worth what's remaining on the loan. And we all know getting eight years out of a Hyundai or Kia is a big ask. People eventually trade it in after year four and roll the remainder of their loan on to the next vehicle. And so on and so on. That's predatory because people aren't smart enough to see it.

    • @joeshmoe8952
      @joeshmoe8952 2 роки тому +5

      @@NovaScotiaKevin Many customers defaulted on their auto loan because of the warranty issue. They refused to pay for a car that wouldn’t work when they believed the warranty should of covered it. I agree with them in a way but also they need to read the fine print on the contract. It is easy to void that warranty, all it takes is getting an oil change at somewhere other than the dealer or going to an auto parts store & replacing the parts yourself. If I had to guess, I would say that I talked to at least 5 people per month that would default on their loan because of that reason. I’m just one person so we had about 50 other collectors & they would hear the same thing.

      Idk, i've had my Kia since 2002. It has ove 150k on it. Only thing happen to mine was the radiator started to leak. Kia sent a flatbed within 2 hours to pick it up and honor the warranty. They also dropped off a rental car within 4 hours.
      At 90k I took it in and anything i thought was off, or had wear and tear I had replaced or fixed under warranty.

      Could be due to change in viscosity of the fluid as it warms up. When solenoid/servo bores become worn, cold viscous fluid will leak past the worn bores when they are closed at a slower rate and transmission can still generate enough pressure to function. When the fluid heats up and becomes thin, it leaks past the bores at at faster rate and cannot generate enough pressure or takes longer to reach desired pressure to apply the band.

    Another thing to do to remove a stripped lug nut is to grab carbide drill and put it in your cordless, and drill only deep enough so that the head of the lug nut loosens and separates from the threaded portion. {make sure the drill doesn't come into contact with the wheel, BTW} Remove the wheel and remove the remaining bolt portion of the lug nut. {a lot easier to remove that bolt portion now that you can spray some PB Blaster and get a vice grip on it. Or maybe heat it up {make sure that the fire danger is eliminated first, please. No residual WD40 or brake caliper components nearby🔥}
    Usually can be done in under 5 minutes.

    I have a 2017 80k mile Kia Soul with the 2.0 engine. I change the oil myself every 5k miles with conventional oil. I checked the oil level before a 300 mile road trip & found the level was 2 quarts low after 4k miles from last oil change. I read a service bulletin saying less than one quart of oil consumption every 1k miles was normal on 2017 Kia engines. I'm switching to synthetic next oil change & replacing the pcv valve to see if that helps. I only use the recommended 5w-20 weight oil.
    So Scotty, is this normal? I've never had this problem with a Toyota.

      @@ryanhull1381 most other brands that recommended 7k or so miles have no issues with that interval as they’ve invested heavily in their engine and oil technology to have them work that way. Toyota for instance has no issues with their vehicles running a 10k oil change interval. Hyundai and Kia and a lot of other automakers just cheap out on their vehicles engines so they can make up for it with electrical gimmicks. So really it depends on the car. You are right Scotty, a number of "used cars" at car lots are "rental cars", and "leased car returns" with the rest being the proverbial "trade in". Today however, some car companies include oil changes and general maintenance with their leases, and those type of cars are, though probably a "premium" will be good used vehicles. Honestly, a good way to tell the quality of a car is the condition of the interior. If it is clean and without stains on the carpet and seats, scratches on the dash etc. means they took the time to clean their car, and those people generally take the time to perform correct maintenance like changing the oil etc. as well. Also, the more higher end cars like Cadillac or Lexus, tend to be well cared for because of their price. And getting one of those from the first owner can be really good vehicles also.

      I have a 2013 Kia Optima which went through some of these issues - they're bad but not as dangerous per se as everyone makes it sound. The most common issue is that the engine just seizes, which is what happened to me while accelerating. Got a little over 50km/hr, then the acceleration just stopped and the car gently coasted to a stop. I could have braked if I wanted to stop sooner, but the momentum actually helped because I could pull safely to the side of the road.
      The fire issue should have been fixed now after their recall, but in rare instances and in hot climates they would spontaneously catch fire, typically when just driven and then left outside in the sun. Also really problematic, but even if it does happen, car fires are very slow and give lots of visual warning, so it's very unlikely to cause any physical harm to your daughter-in-law or grandson. I wouldn't worry too much about them getting hurt - it's a very safe vehicle, just prone to breakdowns. =)
