The plastic under the seat is not a build issue. From the factory the seats are covered in plastic. The dealer is supposed to remove the plastic prior to delivery. If they don’t, then that isn’t the fault of the factory.
Lol I've covered those two cars on my channel for years. Whatever flexing has already been done. Both cars are worth about $70k combined and were purchased 8 and 5 years ago respectively. The Kia was $55k. Thanks for watching!
Way late to the game here but looked into the comments here to see if someone had already said something something these lines. Repeated comparisons in this video between Porsche and Kia. Just dumb. Complaints about drop gaps? This is crazy, I know - put your phone down and drive!! Have never had this problem in our 'ride because I leave the phone where it belongs when I'm driving - anywhere but in my hand.
Enjoyed the review and what you enjoyed and issues you have. Comparing this to Porsche seems odd. Most of the negatives pointed out are personal issues/habits. I like the information about the oil issue and coolant and hope to see it addressed by kia either as a singular issue on this car or if there is a broader issue. Thank you for taking the time to make this video review as an average user. My family has been looking at the Telluride for a few years.
The biggest complaint being "I'm clumsy and drop my phone a lot and also make poor decisions rooting around on the floor while driving" really through me as well.
I had a 2021 S trim with AWD. Loved it. Unfortunately another driver pulled out in front of me and my son. Thankfully no one was seriously injured. I was traveling at about 55 miles per hour when the other driver drove into the intersection. There was no time to react. I hit the passenger side of the other car. The telluride was able to slow down some, how much I don’t know, but I didn’t have enough time to do anything at all. The drivers side of the Kia took the brunt of the collision. The entire cab of the telluride stayed intact. IMO the car couldn’t have performed better. I think that in an older car either me or my son would have likely submarined some under the dash and sustained injuries to our legs. Other than being shaken up by the force of the crash we didn’t have a scratch on us. Again thankfully the driver of the other car wasn’t hurt either. This is likely due to the fact I hit the drivers side. Had there been a passenger in his vehicle there is no telling what would have happened to them. Anyway, both cars were totaled. I replaced the telluride with a truck, that’s a long story too, but I plan on getting my wife a Telluride ASAP. Great vehicle.
Thanks for sharing! Modern cars are so much safer than even cars built 15 years ago. My future kids will definitely be getting new cars when they can drive... Nothing fancy of course, but something SAFE!
A few comments. The coolant reservoir is an expansion tank and coolant levels will fluctuate with weather and driving conditions. A reading at the 'minimum' level on a cold winter morning will read 'maximum' or 'full' after a long summer drive. As for the oil consumption, I would recommend oil changes every 4500 miles with GDI engines (especially in the first 10K miles since new engines break in period will cause some oil burn). I have a 21 Palisade, which has the same engine and the manual cautions about higher oil use in the first few oil changes.
@cage911 G.D I stands for gasoline direct injected. it's different than port injected which offers a marginal difference in gas mileage. just do a quick search on youtube of the differences between GDI and port injection. Port injection is better from a Longevity perspective but GDI is more of a fine tuning of how fuel is delivered.
I’ve been driving a Kia model for the last 12 yrs. Had a sorento then a borrego then back to Kia sorento. Finally got a telluride last year and I love it. Best Kia model in my humble opinion.
KIA's have engine burning oil issue. KIA transmissions normally do not last very long. These vehicles haven't been around long enough. So, it is "wait-n-see".
7,500 for an oil change? Regardless of what the oil gallon says, don't go over 5k without checking your oil. Check color, quantity and quality at 5k or change it at 5k and you'll never have an issue with your engine, specially if those miles are in city.
Check it sure, but if the book says 7500 then i'm going 7500. Either way there is no reason for a new car to burn 2 qts of oil. That's a sign of major problems. My Honda burns no oil in between oil changes which are around 10k
I work for KIA. Nice job on the video. Only negative feedback I have is regarding the pronunciation of Telluride. Proper way: Tell-you-ride Your way: Tell-uh-ride
The plastic by the seat is not a factory issue - it's the dealer who didn't prep it properly when it came in - that's protective plastic for protection before delivery
I own a 2020 SX and I agree with all your points. I love the vehicle. I wish it had a little more power. But it definitely checks all the boxes. A couple things if you use keyless entry on the passenger side press the handle once all doors unlock. Also being a family man. If the kids are in the back seat and you are parked and they try to open the door as traffic is passing it will automatically lock the doors. All the usb ports and heated and cooled front and rear seats are things some vehicles at double the price doesn’t have. For the price point a no brainer.
Thank you for review. I wish there is website or UA-cam channel where real owners review cars after longterm use (and arrnage them by make and year). Its much better for real people purchasing decisions.
Have a 2020 SX Prestige with 58600 miles that we've had since October 2019. Kia backs their warranty as we've had a rear strut and battery replaced on this vehicle, all under warranty. Just put new tires on but that is to be expected at this mileage. We've taken it on 3 long road trips and it is a very comfortable car to drive and ride in. The minor items you noted are very, very minor. Dealer recommended oil changes every 5000 miles, which we follow instead of the 7500 mile interval Kia recommends. We've haven't had any oil issues. We definitely recommend looking at the Telluride if you are looking for a family sized SUV. We also had a second 2020 SX that we traded in for a Kia Stinger. That Telluride was also a nice vehicle, but did not have the Prestige package. Took that one on 2 long road trips and was as comfortable as our SX Prestige. Full disclosure, we've had Kia vehicles for almost 20 years starting with an Amanti. We've had 2 Amantis, a Spectra 5, a Cadenza, 3 Optimas, 2 Tellurides, and a Stinger. Any real issues were covered under warranty. As with any car, normal maintenance is important. We use our dealer for service, if you do it yourself or have service done elsewhere, make sure you save the receipts.
We are in the same area mileage wise got mine in June 2020 SX P just put new tires on it as well regular maintenance every 5k miles only problem we had was really minor a crack coolant hose, parking sensor harness replaced.
2 quarts for 7500 miles isn't bad as relates to industry standards.. but my suggestion is to shorten your drain intervals.. oil and filter every 5000 miles or 6 month which ever comes first.. the oil off burn rate should go down as the engine is still new.. but as it gets older with higher drain intervals it might come back as varnish sticks the oil control rings.. i know some dealership say 10,000 personal i wouldn't check ur manual as theirs a specific criteria to meet which allows for higher drain intervals which few people can do
I am a telluride owner and my only complaint is the engine makes awful whistling noises during a cold start in the winter. It is not fixable they claim it's the intake or something but it sounds at first like a squealing fan belt- I wish they would do a recall for it!
i had a 2020 lx and we recently went to 4 local kia dealerships to get into a 2023 ex-x line. every dealer had the cars marked up from 2k all the way up to 6k (jim shorkey kia). they would not budge because a sucker was sure to walk in right after us. ended up buying a 2023 Atlas Cross Sport SEL R line v6. we love it. the tellurides are an awesome bargain at MSRP. once they start shoveling on thousands of dollars on top of MSRP the kia is no longer a bargain. the VW MSRP'd higher than the kia but because of dealer price gouging, the kia would have costed us more. we are a family of three, the third row was always down in the telluride. i love the sporty look of the cross sport. it kinda looks like a little tank! lol . as much as i love the telluride, i'll most likely never go back to one out of principle. plus. we got ours in 2019 when nobody seen them around really. now everyone and their cousin has one and they're starting to feel played out.
I’m thinking about a Telluride or a Palisade for my wife, so this was helpful. Regarding random stuff filling up the space, I have the same issue with my Grand Caravan. Lots of space people leaving random stuff, which I then have to deal with. Maybe my next car will be a Fiat Abarth…
We have the same model and trim. I noticed the lane centering assist feature tends to turn in too soon relative to my target line into the apex of a turn. Its about a full second early. Besides some of the automation being overly active, we love it.
Not a Kia hater but a skeptic on build quality as we have own a Kia Optima for several years now with only a few problems. But with it’s Theta engine reputation I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the engine will last as my 16 yr old son now drives it. We recently purchased a 22 Honda Passport Trailsport and so far very happy with zero complaints about the build.
Honda has a terrible fitment on exterior body panels. Lift gate is one of the spots to look gaps around. We have a Pilot, and this gap issues is across entire Honda car lines. No one is perfect today. Their tolerances are wide open. If you check Audi, you will notice right away how gap is smaller and consistence. A chief design engineer once said to employees, if you can't achieve that target of 3mm gap, then there's no job for you here. :)
@@ImportedFromSerbia Noticed a few weeks ago that our hood was sitting crooked at the grill area. This did occur on some Passports and Honda did correct the problem. Still happy with the Passport 8 months later.
I really enjoyed this video. I enjoyed that you gave your perspective of the car itself and your personal perspective. I have been wanting a Telliride for the 2 years and I want to make sure I get my money worth. So again thanks again and I’m going to subscribe to your page.
If you’re watching this and in the market, I’d suggest also considering the Subaru Ascent - apples to apples 3-5k cheaper and amazing build quality and overall a fun capable 3 seater. We’ve owned two Kia’s, they’re OK but there is a reason they offer such a long warranty. You’re gonna need it… We had a few relatively large repairs needed (luckily covered under warranty). After also owning two Subarus zzzeerrrooo issues and nothing but basic maintenance on them for 3-5 years after owning both of them for longer periods of times.
Mostly a useful and informative video; thanks for sharing your experience! Regarding your issue with dropping your phone between the seat and the center console... you really shouldn't be messing with your phone while driving anyway, so this would probably solve your problem. ;)
My wife has had her Palisade for 4 years and just hit 43k miles. No major issues at all as of yet. Still hasn’t had the brakes replaced . No build quality issues either. The Kia’s are assembled in the US. The Hyundai’s are built in South Korea. Your negative points are a tad petty. 👍🏻✌🏻
The plastic is a dealer removal issue and the head liner was probably the same or in transport. Not a “build quality” concern. Agree otherwise. 2023 has multiple improvements
For engine oil my advice is to add a Catch can to see how much of burned oil and Gas came out of the engine and it will prevent carbon build over intake valves. For rear view mirror it's limited moving up and down if it's have auto dim feature.
At 6:20, you mention wind noise at highway speed from the driver's side... I have the same issue with my Kia Sedona! Drives me crazy! I even brought it back to see if they could address it... of course they did not.
I was very excited about the Telluride based on last year's Consumer's Report, which gave it an extraordinary 97 rating, although their latest rating is 59! What turned me in another direction, however, was (1) the GDI engine, which is problematic in several respects; (2) lack of a spare tire, because the tire repair kit is useless if you have a blowout or sidewall damage, which also can be problematic if the failure comes when you're out in the boondocks, since many tow-truck drivers are no longer allowed to carry passengers; and (3) that Kia has a terrible reputation for not honoring their warranty. The clincher was the inflated pricing over MSRP. For anyone thinking about buying a Telluride: The GDI engine does not spray fuel over the valves, only directly into the combustion chamber. The result is that, regardless of whatever else you do, like changing oil regularly, the engine begins to lose performance, probably at about 20K miles, because the valves aren't getting cleaned. The sensible thing to do is use one of the popular cleaning kits every 15K or so, which only costs about $15 and takes about an hour. But if you DIY, you may be facing warranty aggravation sometime in the future if Kia claims that you shouldn't have performed that service yourself. And can you guess what the dealers charge to do the job for you? $300!
I have an EX model and it comes with a emergency spare (not the full sized spare. You can negotiate the "inflated pricing." Just walk away if they won't remove the additional bogus fees.
The warranty is dealer specific btw. For example ours was 3k over MSRP but others were 12-18k over MSRP. Different dealerships also offer different warranties. Kia itself offers 10 yr 100k but we actually got 20 yr 200k through our dealership. They also have a bumper to bumper (eventhough they don't call it that anymore) the average is 3 yr but kia actually offered a 5yr bumper to bumper. They also warranty all electronics for 1 year.
Great review. My wife used to own a 2017 Kia Optima (purchased in 2019 with 40k miles) and our neighbour bought the same year, model a few months before hers. My wife's was a lemon and had nothing but knock sensor issues and Kia were horrible to deal with so we got rid, yet my neighbours is going strong. I drive a Genesis G80 Sport and love it and have had no issues. The Telluride looks better than the Pallasade.
Width between the wheel wells? Will 2 24-inch dog boxes fit side by side? Can you manually turn the lights on? Can you manually lock/unlock the vehicle? Is there space for a real spare tire or just a donut?
A responsible adult doesn't play with his/her phone while driving....rendering the seat gap a non issue. Nature abhors a vacuum......... Thank you for this in depth review of the Telluride. Be well.
that wind noise on the drivers window is EXACTLY what i have in my 2019 Genesis G80 and it ruins the crap out of the amazingly quiet cabin. i can't figure out where that dang noise is coming from.......
We have a 22 model, but want to sell it with just under 4k miles. It's not a terrible vehicle, but it has quirks, which I guess can be said about any vehicle. Since my wife wanted it so badly, we're a bit upside down in the loan now that prices plummeted. We'll hang tight until next year and see what happens with the market, but I think there are better options out there
where did prices plummet? My 22 kia stinger was $40k new. I have 14k miles on it now, dealer will give me $37k if i sell it to them. KBB says I can ask $40k for it in a private sale. That's what I paid for it. So I'm curious, where do you live that prices have plummeted?
we have a 2021 sx prestige night fall edition..problems the black trim around windows has gone from black to bronze to coming off ..it's garage kept.... have had some issues with the rain sensor no working all the time it controls wipers other then that every thing else has been great..on a side note kia's solution for the trim problem it to not make it anymore so if you are having this issue your fixes are replace it if you could get the trim (which you can't) ,repaint it or have it wrapped ......we had our wrapped in gloss black and looks brand new again
We've got a 22, about same mileage, rain sensing wipers won't work, which is annoying since you have to turn it on low or high only to get them to work at all. Also have an oil leak. Going to be taking it in for those and the recall for the towing hitch fires which we got a letter about. It's a nice car, but definitely having some issues.
Almost all new engines have low friction piston rings that save 1 percent on fuel, but don’t seal as well as old school “high” friction rings therefore causing more blow by into cylinder head. Very common now and not a good design philosophy. Volkswagen has the highest acceptable oil consumption at the moment. Check your owners manual about how much oil being depleted is acceptable. And check your oil level every week or two if need be.
Ours has been burning oil since we took it home. It also struggles to start fairly often (it always does start but barely turns over). After owning the car and using it with two car seats 100% of time - it is small (coming from an atlas). Especially, if you are packing gear for kids. So far the best attribute about Telluride is the ride. It does have a great ride. There is questionable amount of hype to this car.
Unless you use full synthetic. I think Kia recommends 3 to 5 thousand mile oil changes. Thats maybe why you started using more oil. Waited to long to change it.
As for the coolant .. they start coming with them at the low to mid level from factory but uf u checked it when warm it's going to be higher say half or full.. and depending on ambient air temp went the engine is cold.. i have seen very little in reserve bottle below low level but it was -34°C outside and after warm up it went up ..
My dad’s Hyundai Santa Fe at 50k miles they say, spun a rod bearing. They determined this they say with a scope. Since my father had oil changes done at a private shop or at our home garage they voided warranty because he didn’t have receipt for every oil change. They called it, owner neglect. BS. He has to pay $12k for a rebuilt engine. They are screwing him.
Nice review. All the flaws mentioned, with the exception of the mirror and headliner, are annoyances at best. I think it looks fantastic. The price point is good when compared to other vehicles in class. My wife loves her old Grand Cherokee, but may look into the Telluride for her next car. Did you see the 2023 has stretched the screen across to include the instrument cluster? Looks sharp! Thanks for the review!
As a fromer Toyota dealership worker, the amount of build quality issues I've experienced on recent models is staggering. Loose panels, excessive rattling and squeaking, really cheap and scratchy plastics and trim all from factory. Thankfully little in the way of mechanical issues but electrical issues were also not rare. Lexus is fine, but mainstream Toyota has going downhill in interior quality for years now.
@@ShafinRehman probably has to do with Japanese culture changing - used to be meticulous craftsmanship, but I doubt the younger generation cares as much
@@ShafinRehmanI’ve heard that about Toyotas built here in America, but I will say my Camry is flawless and any build quality issues they do have have nothing on Kia and Hyundai. I’m speaking from experience with owning a Kia.
The value of the Telluride compared with any of its mid sized, 3-row competitors is pretty significant. I have found the features, materials and build quality to be excellent, if not better. How many of them offer heated AND cooled second row seats? It will be interesting to see how the new generation Honda Pilot compares.
What’s that hazardous material hanging from the rear view mirror? In many states it’s illegal. Honestly, that’s high-speed material flying at you and your family in the event of a quick stop/accident. I’m just asking what are the odds?
As a professional truck driver, I rather use my mirrors when maneuvering around and backing up. You can hit things using cameras and monitors since it's not 100% accurate.
@@eliseonegrin I owned an 04 Pilot and was able to get 250k with 4k oil changes. That 3.5 engine in your Pilot is one of the best engines ever but that's liven on the edge. lol The problems that I see come with your oil change interval is that you develop oil leaks. Our Pilot would still be around if it wasn't totaled out by car accident. I've 3 other family members that have them and they are awesome. That's why I might get an Acura MDX next time. They share a lot of parts.
Very sharp looking, but the fact a brand new car burns oil is crazy. Sad thing is the dealer will never honor the warranty unless catastrophic failure. I’ve heard from many people that theirs burns oil and the dealer tells them it’s normal.
That polarized sunglasses tip was great. I never knew that. Can passengers not control AC from the rear? If you stop using you phone while driving you won't drop it when you're driving 😂
I hear wind noise in my sunroof..sounds like it is cracked open so I have to keep the slide close to minimize. KIA dealer checked couldn't find a reason
We just purchased a 2023 Telluride "S" model, so just starting to figure out all the whistles and bells - both the good and the bad, and I already feel there are just too many unnecessary features, several of which require a PHD to figure out. First off, the LX and S trim level do not have a power tailgate lift, which is indeed annoying; plus, Kia should have put a rubber rear bumper protector strip over top lip so you won't scratch the exposed 2 1/2" of paint every time you try to slide something in or out of the rear storage area - I have already installed an aftermarket protection strip. While the engine is smooth, it does not have the instant "punch" our 2011 Lexus RX350 had, and I'd really wish it would get better gas mileage for such a new vehicle, especially with the pain at the pump we are now experiencing due to obvious reasons (no, not attributable to "Putin's Price Hikes" :( ). One thing not mentioned is the absolutely horrible stereo system - music sounds like crap and it's my understanding that even the "so-called" premium Harmon-Kardon system found in the EX and SX models is not very good. The LX and S don't even have a sub. Come on, KIA, the systems in my old Lexus and 2012 Mercedes were excellent and even had a CD PLAYER! So you are forced to get better speakers and/or have a professional car audio installer improve things for you if you value clean, high-end sound like I do. This is just the start, so I hope there will not be many more unpleasant "surprises."
The car is an item we use daily for our living. Drive it, and when you feel it, replace it. I remember when we got brand new car and kids were excited to sit either 2nd row or 3rd row seats. The kid at 3rd row seat put up feet to headrest of 2nd row seats, I was ready to make a comment, but hack with the car, their enjoyment was more important than anything. So, it is just a car. Enjoy your life. Dents will anyway happen at the parking lots or so.
Thanks for the review with your personal experience and annoyances. There are so many Telluride videos that just talk about the features but never any downsides (even though they are personal it is helpful). I have a 2022 SX Prestige Nightfall and luckily have not run into the "build quality" issues you have seen. There is one that I have which I have chosen to ignore is the lid that covers the charging pad compartment will not latch, but since I always leave it open, it's not an issue. One design annoyance is that the buttons to the left of the wheel are in the worst sequence. All are rarely used except for the liftgate button, but they located it on the far right where visibility is blocked by the wheel. It should be placed on the left (outboard) position. As far as the keyless entry issue...are there ANY vehicles that have entry sensors on the rear doors? I have not encountered any and was curious. They did change for 2023 to eliminate the button and switch to a touch sensor on the inside of the handle. I like that change. One other annoyance is that Nightfall should include black out of the KIA badges. I did mine with aftermarket vinyl decals and I removed my AWD badge to have a cleaner looking tailgate.
I'm a 2022 Telluride SX Prestige owner at 7,100 miles, appreciate your 18K mile review, but as an audiophile, I think you missed the most critical flaw of the car. Frankly, Kia Motors has misled the consumer to believe the factory Harmon Kardon radio is premium. It's anything but premium. It's bad. Very disappointed with the factory audio system. Granted, most people are going to be satisfied, (and high-end audio is not a priority in most people's life), but the truth is, the factory system is C-R-A-P. I did also. I was going to complain to the dealer but then I didn't want mechanic taking down the headliner and screwing up something else. Anyway, the noise went away by 20k. I now have 65k on it with no problems. I was a mechanic with Ford for 15 years
@moparmission7093 I think it settled down since I hit 5000 miles or winter silenced the squeaks in the headliner and rearseat. So far so good. I'll take your advice and not ask for a replacement. Thanks
I have a 2020 s and it’s been junk it still has the vibration around 68-75 they have replaced axle joints and of course they blamed it on the tires road force and the funny thing is the replaced the tires and had them road forced balance and still have the issue and another issue it has a slight shudder when you take off at low speeds . Definitely trying to get rid of it before anything else goes wrong . Nice suv but there not very good at figuring out issues and they always blame any vibration on tires😂
Moderately helpful - really nitpicky - not Kia's fault that his wife puts stuff everywhere - kind of a ridiculous comment - look at any family vehicle- concern regarding oil usage and coolant that is an issue for a vehicle with only 18k
Pleasant evening to you Car Fanatic. I may simply be seeing things, but from 0:25 to 0:27, there seems to be someone inside the rear portion of your car. I keep rewinding the video, thinking someone is strangely perched inside the tailgate area, looking out. But then you show the rest of the car and your tailgate interior cover is over the third row. So then how could someone be in the car with that cover there? Strange. You could check it yourself and let us know. Thanks and have a great evening and stay safe.

Bro please stop changing oil at 7500 miles. 5000 miles or 6 months is the maximum on any engine. Any higher on the manual is a marketing BS. Hyundai and KIA is notorious for burning oil, I would even change it before 5000 miles. I hope you can sell and trade it in from a more reliable brand like Toyota or Lexus.
It burned 2 quarts in 7500 miles. Piston rings are shot already. Engine coolant loss may be because you’re getting coolant into cylinders.May be a blown head gasket. I wouldn’t be worried about a little piece of plastic under the rear seat, seems like you’ve got bigger worries. South Korean quality? To be continued.

I feel like the whole purpose of this video was the flex of having 2 Porsche’s in your garage 😂
Lol I've covered those two cars on my channel for years. Whatever flexing has already been done. Both cars are worth about $70k combined and were purchased 8 and 5 years ago respectively. The Kia was $55k. Thanks for watching!
The real flex is the Kia, stop looking at badges
I agree
Yes, and to highlight immaturity.
Way late to the game here but looked into the comments here to see if someone had already said something something these lines. Repeated comparisons in this video between Porsche and Kia. Just dumb.

Glad you weren't seriously hurt!
Saudi Arabia pushed to lift the ban on women drivers. It was a fatal mistake!
What is a GDI engine?
My 2022 Telluride, I feel like it’s still burning oil and it has 32,000 miles already. And now it’s starting shake a little bit when idle.
If you hit the sync button on the thermostat controls it will automatically sync the rear and you won’t have to rely on the touch screen.
I’ve been driving a Kia model for the last 12 yrs. Had a sorento then a borrego then back to Kia sorento. Finally got a telluride last year and I love it. Best Kia model in my humble opinion.
Do you mean, that none of the cars last long and you should switch often 😂
I love the look of these, but am going to be VERY curious what the long-term reliability of the Telluride and Palisade will be.
KIA's have engine burning oil issue. KIA transmissions normally do not last very long. These vehicles haven't been around long enough. So, it is "wait-n-see".
100,000 miles on my 2020 Telluride. No issues other than normal wear and tear. Great ownership experience.
Proper way: Tell-you-ride
Your way: Tell-uh-ride
Too spacious???? This guy is nuts!!!
True lol
I’m thinking about a Telluride or a Palisade for my wife, so this was helpful. Regarding random stuff filling up the space, I have the same issue with my Grand Caravan. Lots of space people leaving random stuff, which I then have to deal with. Maybe my next car will be a Fiat Abarth…
I have a 2021 s model. Very happy with it.
Thanks for your honest opinion. Truly awesome work .. Kia Telluride is the role model showing off how things can be done smartly. 😊
We have the same model and trim. I noticed the lane centering assist feature tends to turn in too soon relative to my target line into the apex of a turn. Its about a full second early. Besides some of the automation being overly active, we love it.
almost every 'issue' you complain about is common on almost every vehicle on the market today
Thanks...very helpful. I am seriously considering a 2023 Telluride...once the dealer markups subside.
The 2023 should be even better despite the subjective exterior changes.
You forgot to mention there are no steering fluid reservoir unlike the regular cars, it uses an electric steering
It's a nice car. It's new and it's burning oil and coolant but mostly I'm concerned about that piece of plastic they didn't peel off.
yea, that engine would be my concern.
Mostly a useful and informative video; thanks for sharing your experience! Regarding your issue with dropping your phone between the seat and the center console... you really shouldn't be messing with your phone while driving anyway, so this would probably solve your problem. ;)
I came here to say this. Distracted driving is as dangerous as drunk driving. If you need to use your phone, pull over.
Fantastic review, first time I've seen any of your videos. Subscribed
Thanks for sharing. I agree with what you said except the spare tire. The Telluride comes with a full size spare!
@@CarFanatic Glad to hear it. The last time a checked-a couple of months ago-the 2023 did not come with a spare.
My 2012 Sonata had a GDI and it lasted me 190,000 miles with no problems before I traded it in.
Thanks for watching and sharing your experience
Width between the wheel wells? Will 2 24-inch dog boxes fit side by side?
Can you manually turn the lights on? Can you manually lock/unlock the vehicle?
Is there space for a real spare tire or just a donut?
Thanks for the review!
A responsible adult doesn't play with his/her phone while driving....rendering the seat gap a non issue. Nature abhors a vacuum......... Thank you for this in depth review of the Telluride. Be well.
You shuold probaly mention that you have the SX Prestige trim, as many of the feature you mention are only at that trim level
that wind noise on the drivers window is EXACTLY what i have in my 2019 Genesis G80 and it ruins the crap out of the amazingly quiet cabin. i can't figure out where that dang noise is coming from.......
We have a 22 model, but want to sell it with just under 4k miles. It's not a terrible vehicle, but it has quirks, which I guess can be said about any vehicle. Since my wife wanted it so badly, we're a bit upside down in the loan now that prices plummeted. We'll hang tight until next year and see what happens with the market, but I think there are better options out there
What did you dislike about it?
@@nathanielsmith5256 this
where did prices plummet? My 22 kia stinger was $40k new. I have 14k miles on it now, dealer will give me $37k if i sell it to them. KBB says I can ask $40k for it in a private sale. That's what I paid for it.
So I'm curious, where do you live that prices have plummeted?
What are some of your other favorites out there now that your looking to move on?
Rear A/C control on Honda Passport/Pilot is set up just the way you'd like! 😍
We love our Telluride. I can’t think of anything I would change on it.
we have a 2021 sx prestige night fall edition..problems the black trim around windows has gone from black to bronze to coming off ..it's garage kept.... have had some issues with the rain sensor no working all the time it controls wipers other then that every thing else has been great..on a side note kia's solution for the trim problem it to not make it anymore so if you are having this issue your fixes are replace it if you could get the trim (which you can't) ,repaint it or have it wrapped ......we had our wrapped in gloss black and looks brand new again
Great video and great input about the details
Did you purchase this vehicle new?
@@johnfranklin5277 yes.
Mine is burning oil too
Would you have rather kept the Atlas? Comparing the two currently and the telluride just has it beat in every area except space and maybe reliability?
@@amoncarter5083 Yes we would have kept the Atlas. We had way less issues with the Atlas and we put triple the amount of miles on it.
The complains are not really major , I love the Telluride , just bought the 2024 facelift one and it’s just on another level
You didn’t check your oil for 7,500 miles?!?
Despite Telluride being marketed as an off road vehicle, it isn’t?
Lol no way in heck. It probably can do some light stuff but the departure/approach angles and ground clearance will be severely limiting.
Wow, 2 quarts low and disappearing coolant. Annoyances are annoying but engine problems this early are.... Geez that's not good.
Unless you use full synthetic. I think Kia recommends 3 to 5 thousand mile oil changes. Thats maybe why you started using more oil. Waited to long to change it.
It is full synthetic
Nice review. I am curious how much oil did the Kia Telluride lose on the 2nd and 3rd oil change?
Great revue with both pro and con points....well done!
Thanks! 👍
The Metroplex! I lived there 35+ years. I don't miss it.
Awesome review, really want to pick one of these up used. How is the Telluride treating you at this point...?
Thanks for the owners review!
Burning 2 quarts of oil between oil changes on a brand new engine is more than just annoying 😳
Why didn't you go with a Lexus or Toyota large SUV? Doubt you'd have those build quality issues.
They're more than I want to spend and the third rows are smaller for the same vehicles in its class.
Any update on the oil and coolant consumption?
What’s that hazardous material hanging from the rear view mirror? In many states it’s illegal. Honestly, that’s high-speed material flying at you and your family in the event of a quick stop/accident. I’m just asking what are the odds?
Glad I opted for a Toyota Highlander. NO complaints. Well, it could be a little quieter. Handles much more crisply than the Telluride.
As a professional truck driver, I rather use my mirrors when maneuvering around and backing up. You can hit things using cameras and monitors since it's not 100% accurate.
I use my mirrors as well for fine maneuvering! Cameras are okay when you have a lot of space.
the drop on the coolant means engine is getting too hot or overheating
Hi thx for the info. can I ask how much is the registration renewal fee for kia Telluride ?
Despite dealerships recommendations- Oil changes over 5k don’t recommend. 3-5k oil changes recommended for long life healthy engine!
Is that for all cars?
100% change oil every 3-5k on the Telly but that goes for all vehicle. I have a "21 Telluride with 58k and No oil issues.
I change oil every 15,000 miles in my Honda Pilot with 95,000 miles driven !
Absolutely great review
Very sharp looking, but the fact a brand new car burns oil is crazy. Sad thing is the dealer will never honor the warranty unless catastrophic failure. I’ve heard from many people that theirs burns oil and the dealer tells them it’s normal.
This is great. Thank you so much. In the market for the 2023. Will consider all of this. Really wish it had wireless apple car play.
No problem. Here's a wireless carplay solution. Please subscribe if you haven't already! ua-cam.com/video/_UY6Fz-7eC8/v-deo.html
I think you need to stick to luxury cars…. I’ve had 2 telluride and love them. I actually prefer to drive it over my AMG…
Oh yeah and right out of the gate the rear controls for the thermostat didn't work. Had to be replaced right off the lot
Great practical insights, thanks.
That polarized sunglasses tip was great. I never knew that.
Can passengers not control AC from the rear?
If you stop using you phone while driving you won't drop it when you're driving 😂
Any update on the oil and coolant usage? Have you asked the dealer?
Pretty minor complaints. I think the one complaint I have is how you pronounced Telluride.
Was it difficult, and how?
I wish this car was available in Sweden, here we only get the Sorrento from KIA.
As a result, I will be changing out the factory system to:

I got the rattling in the headliner issue and it's driving me nuts. 2022 SX Prestige
Thanks
does this have the same transmission at the 2019 Sedona? I don'r care for ours...
Can you connect the Alexa auto for the car to it?
I have a 2020 s and it’s been junk it still has the vibration around 68-75 they have replaced axle joints and of course they blamed it on the tires road force and the funny thing is the replaced the tires and had them road forced balance and still have the issue and another issue it has a slight shudder when you take off at low speeds . Definitely trying to get rid of it before anything else goes wrong . Nice suv but there not very good at figuring out issues and they always blame any vibration on tires😂
I've never heard someone complain about a car being to spacious....

Lol, looks like a ghost but it is my wife in the background but she shows up through the window haha.

It does occupy the wireless charging pad but you can get a longer USB cable and locate the wireless adapter somewhere else. Here's my latest review. ua-cam.com/video/_UY6Fz-7eC8/v-deo.html
The Kia that are built in Korea, have flawless build quality, The telluride is built in the U.S.
What color is the vehicle in the video? I really like it!
@ Jonathan Grant. Everlasting Silver.
looks like a Santa Fe and Palisade made a baby Kia...and grew up to a Telluride.
