      Don't try to catch the bar overhead! Think of it that you're trying to get under the bar, not making the bar go over your head. The bar is "free floating" and you're rotating underneath the bar and then standing up.

    • @iPlainSushiCake
      @iPlainSushiCake 5 років тому +1

      Power snatch supposedly incorporates more 'power', but the main difference is the catch position applies upward force much sooner than a full snatch, meaning you'll have the bar overhead, squat until lockout and stand up

    Y’all be careful on this workout, I messed up a bit and thrusted too much and the bar almost made me fall back after I snatched it. Fortunately my spotter pushed me forward a bit and I was able to drop the weight without hitting him or me. But I hurt my back during, it’s been about 4 days and it still hurts. Y’all watch y’all selves and know your weight, I was kind of new to the workout and usually only put 10 or 25 pounds on each end, but I put 35 when I hurt it. I was able to do all reps and sets, it wasn’t until the last one that it happened

      I read an academic paper on sports injuries and weightlifting was ranked amongs the lowest (amount of injuries), as a weightlifter myself who has suffered from injuries I was very surprised... However: from all the sports I've done I can honestly say that weightlifting in general, and the snatch in particular, is an incredible sport that promotes flexibility, strength and endurance in a way that I consider unmatched.
