When I was little I watched a Smosh video where a man gives dramatic narration about surviving as a castaway over footage of him despairing on a beach. At the end of the skit, the camera pulls back to reveal that he's surrounded by people and civilization is less than ten feet away.

Seriously. The only reason to get UA-cam Red is for Mind Field, because it's made by somebody who genuinely has a passion for what he does, and it shows. It's not for everyone, but I personally get my money's worth. I don't watch much original content (although the Vsauce series is pretty good), but I use UA-cam a lot and don't get any ads and can go out of the app or turn my phone off without the video stopping, and save them offline to watch without internet some other time. I don't recommend it if you don't spend a lot of time on youtube though.

i used to fw Parents Suck every day in middle school. i’m sure if i listened to it now i’d be able to sing it word for word. i didn’t have a smosh themed birthday party for them to sell out the way they did
I knew they changed when they uploaded "I Heart Burgers" which was just a long Carl's Jr. commercial. It was also the first time I didn't laugh once at their video (I was a lot younger obviously). About a year later they started making videos that spun off each other, like with "If Movies Were Real" and its deformed offspring, and the laughs became more and more infrequent. I was totally done with them by 2011
The first couple of every blank ever videos weren’t too bad looking back. When they stared making them every other week is when it went downhill. I haven’t watched their videos in years but I heard that the company went downhill after Anthony left. After he left everyone else started leaving, videos were getting less views, people were unsubscribing, and the parent company that owned smosh went bankrupt but didn’t tell anyone until it was too late. It’s a shame everything ended the way it did

Also, if the idea was that the plot was left vague so that the actors can improvise, that CAN work. I mean look at the Genie in Aladdin. Half of what came out of Robin Williams' mouth was improvised (which worked out and made the Genie one of the most recognizable Disney sidekicks). The problem is your actors have gotta be at the top of their game in order to pull that off. Also, you need SOME semblance of a plot in the script.

@@themysteriouscatperson9483 I think OP meant that even with 22 million subscribers, they only get a million or so views, while Ralph gets the same with even lesser subscribers. So, maybe Smosh isn't as relevant anymore. Also, no point was made as to whether someone can or cannot criticize others.

I loved Smosh when I was in middle school, and I still like their older sketches now. But no wonder their new videos are shit. They have almost no creative control anymore. Also I turned 18 today, so I should probably just stop watching them anyway and stick with more coherent content. Like ralphthemoviemaker
Yeah, this was difficult to get through. My god, there isn't a single joke that they don't waste a minute and a half explaining. And to allow talentless assholes write all of their sketches, as well as go along with this eye-gougingly unfunny shit, then they're just as much to blame as the hack writers.

austin It might be a little bit of both. I watched their old, old skits about a month ago (one of their very first videos, back when they filmed with cameras that could only support 360p) and it actually got a chuckle out of me. Their newer stuff doesn't even make me smile.

The rick bowman "joke" just made me want to give that poor soul a hug. He was the best actor in the whole movie probably, it was legitimately saddening when he spoke.
This movie makes so much more sense when you realize they sold all creative rights for SMOSH years before the first one came out.
