gunlance actually also recieved a lot of love from capcom in this game, it has the 3rd (2nd if you disconsider longsword which currently has the helmbreaker bugged dealing double damage) fastest clear times in the demo, with hunting horn in 2nd (1st without LS)
As a Hunting Horn main myslef I approve of the endless combos and the JoJo-Stance in Rise. May the more powerful doot guide you to the promised lands of doots my brothers and sisters!
In all fairness, insect glaive alreqdy had a fuckload of movement stuff, so they were kinda deadlocked with what they could do. I honest to god cant think of anything they could have done that would be wholly original. Though they could still have done something more interesting. Maybe like that bug shield thing from gen ult?
Throw a wirebug + kinsect like a bolas that has adds a good amount to stun and/or flinch because IG has minor stun. "Comet Strike" where you latch a wirebug to the glaive, hook your insect to the wire, then launch it at a monster like a dragon piercer (applying a shitload of dust if it's a duster). Ground-based, stationary, helicopter. Special ranged attack that launches the kinsect at a monster and creates a cloud of dust (for dusters and normals), causes it to strike repeatedly in a sphere (for fast), or launches it and yourself for a strong attack (for assist) Literally I'm just spitballing here. Capcom literally went into negative creativity, and also made the weapon super hard to use thanks to the vertical hitboxes. I think Capcom just hates IG.

The Hunting Horn's 'Self-Improvement Recital' has i-frames, many of the close-dodges could have done using Sir. Arzuros' pin attack does no damage, it's that he throws you on the ground then attacks you; using Wirefall when he throws you completely negates the pin.
You know how hunting horn was called the band camp brother of hammer. He’s graduated and made an entirely new style of music revolving around movement.
After putting over 300 hours into insect glaive in mhw I was excited for rise. I can now confirm that rise is a terrible game. 7/10 ign "making bug come back using string bug has never felt more depressing"

It was datamined that each weapon will have more than 2 silk bind attacks that you can customize, so I would not worry about that
