Your M3 install video helped me a few years ago set up my radar detector on my M2C. I just got a 2021 GT4 and this video helped me hardwire my detector. Thanks for all the videos. Incredibly helpful and easy to follow.
When I had my M3 your videos were very helpful. I just switched over to a 991.2 Carrera S and this is the first place I looked on how to hard wire my detector. Again thank you for the great content over the years!
I just got a new 2022 Base Cayman and wanted to hardwire an Escort MaxCam 360c. I absolutely could not have done it without this video. I did the fuse box method using the same fuse for the vented seats that you did. Everything is working perfectly. Thanks!
perfect video, showed me BOTh ways to wire it, i have dimming mirror, and that the panel closes with the fuse tap installed (for my apple car play install CDR31). This is exactly what i needed! now fro Waze and uniden r4
I grabbed the R7 recently and put it on a Blendmount for my F80. I can not believe how much it blocks the view to my right. You need to really pay attention to your right side when making turns. Not to mention it really puts the detector on display under your mirror for people to notice in a parking lot... For those on the fence, visualize what this is going to be like before you dive into a $130 radar mount. It’s seriously expensive to buy this and immediately feel some regret. As for the mount, it is solid but not perfect. Mine came a little bent in a way that holds the detector higher on one side than the other. You can compensate for that by adjusting the mount but you have to completely disassemble the mount to make each small adjustment because the lower parts cover the Allen heads you’d need for adjustment.
If you're really worried about someone taking the detector, just unplug it and stash it away in your glovebox, you don't need to disassemble the mount. There are also cheaper alternatives to the blend mount on amazon that works just as well, maybe not as elegant but you're not going to see it behind your mirror so the $$$ saved is worth it IMO.
Your vids are consistently great! I used your M3 mirror tap vid to do my M2C - Perfect! Better than any of the other vids out there. I live in the DC metro area so I use a V1 G2 - more stealthy! Enjoy!
Awesome work…but I’m super leery of pulling my new Porsche 911 apart to run wiring even though I’m a super handy guy. I can’t tell if I have an auto dimming mirror either
any tips for the rear view mirror and overhead console trim removal? they are really tight and seem larger than those on other models due to the convertible top it seems! also which fuse did you use?
@@netcrashYT the bottom row on the passenger side is switched power. Meaning when the key is in and ignition turned on it will have power. The row above that is constant power, always has power even when the vehicle is turned off.
Doing this in Mesa AZ in 110 degrees didnt help but the video was exceptional. My Cayman is a 2014, around the mirror was a little different. Mooshed it under the headliner in front of the mirror and VOILA'...cleaner than clean.
Great job on hardwiring the dash cam! Does this stay on even when the car is off? If that’s the case how do you manage it not to drain your battery? I know there are some voltage managements like BlackVue power magic pro etc. to deal with that
Hey Tommy! Is it possible to tap into the wire that plugs into the light panel (where the lights and buttons are, that piece that’s hanging down) that you popped off by the mirror? Btw I’m Gabi’s friend. Hi!
@@TommyLGarage I’m curious if the answer is actually yes but you have to add a fuse somewhere in the fuse box. If the wires are there it’s likely it can be made to work. Will have to check my owners manual for the fuse layout.
@@TommyLGarage I’m surprised no one hasn’t made a detector where the photo eye/receptor is separate from the larger electronics package, both connected by a cord. The small eye could be affixed to the back of the mirror with the cord running along the headliner and A-pillar, just as you did, with the electronics hidden under the dash, connected via Bluetooth to your phone.

The mount is a must in my opinion. And r7 is wayyyyyy too big for this tiny windshield

Will be doing this exact setup for my 22 718 Spyder. I dont have the auto dimming mirror so I'll run it from the fuze box. Thanks for the video.

it stays off when the car is off

Hey do you have a install video , how to install dash cam on m3?

The same way you did your radar on your m3 , can I add both of them to the same power outlet?
Yes you can
My car is 2013 911 porsche S, can it be wired using the rear mirror light to connect inateaf of run all the way thru the fuse box? Please advise.
If you have auto dimming then yes. Otherwise no. But I did address it in my video.

Nice job. If I do manage to find myself buying a 2021 911 turbo s, some day, I'll remember your instructions
Fingers crossed!!

is it possible to hide the detector?
Yes. But it won’t work then
