    Adorable! As for the little problem of forgetting to drill those holes ahead of time, I might have tried figuring the placement of the holes like that anyway. As for hand drills, they are handy. I broke two drill bits just yesterday boring through 6mm of mdf! Wasn't sure it would work, but it finally did. Sometimes perserverence really does pay off! Loved the video, I always learn while watching you create.

    Sometimes it's more important to show the improvisation of fixing mistakes than having everything perfect....we all make mistakes and it's nice to see how you deal with that. I would say that your filming is so close that it is hard to get the big picture....I like the further views that show more of what is going on. You are so creative and able to handle everything that comes along, its so encouraging to me!

    It's great that you showed the mistakes you made and how you rectified them, it shows newer crafters that even experienced people like yourself don't always get everything perfect first try. I'm sure it will give a lot of your viewers more confidence to give things a go without being afraid of stuffing things up. Very few mistakes aren't fixable somehow. A great lesson, from our beloved Miss Gretchen!

    👏👏🥰 lots of encouragement..love that! This was just a great video. I will need one down the road..Im gonna have ta remember next time I'm in the grocery store to look for the stix..sadly ..I broke my lil' hand drill with my heavy hands and I have yet to replace it. When you said one was hanging on the wall ..I saw the iron board that comes out of the wall like a hideaway...so I was curious to see 😂 these came out lovely and I would have gone with the natural wood as well..only bc it fits my era..but I wouldn't mind painting with that lovely vintage green 💖..dont feel bad...I have those "what not to do" moments too..I tend to get ahead of myself.. alot..🤣 and we measure the same ..so I copy 😆 I'm more of an eyeballer myself when it comes to measurements..even when I'm cooking unless I'm following a recipe. 😊 Thanx for sharing..I enjoyed it and learned how to make an iron board 🥰 so much fun.. Did you have a real ironing board to go off of for this? Mine has been in storage for 9 years, along with my iron. So, I haven't seen it. I can't imagine building something like this without looking at one. I think mine had one leg that was a single leg, like a metal bar, that had two pieces coming out from the bottom for a more stable base. Not sure now though. I try to avoid ironing by pulling things out of the dryer and either hanging them up to avoid wrinkles or folding them right away and smoothing out any wrinkles.
    IT's interesting to me that in many other countries, they don't use dryers, they hang up all clothing to dry outside or indoors. In a cold or humid climate, there is nothing as nice as pulling a hot pair of socks out of the dryer and putting them on cold feet, or a nice hot blanket on a cold day.

    • @laurawiles410
      @laurawiles410 2 роки тому

      I have clothes on the clothesline right now. I've been avoiding the dryer for the last few months because the AC works hard enough without running the dryer. The house has been miserably hot when the dryer's running. Finally cooling off, but the clothesline uses no electricity and make the clothes smell good. :) I agree 100% on avoiding ironing and socks straight from the dryer on a cold day!

      I actually don't do very much ironing as adult! Either either it's dry cleaned or wash and go! I used to have to iron sheets and pillows cases as a girl! I used similar concept as my ceiling attic ladder in earlier video. Pin hinges to make it fold. Also the what I call the X factor or criss cross ❌.

      @@littlegretchensworkshop7665 yeah, to get a crease in slacks I'd get those hangers to hang pants upside down and fold them to crease on the front and back of the pants, sort of form it with fingers, take out of dryer before completely dry and hang upside down so the weight of the pants did the work.... When I was a kid my parents both worked and they hired an older woman with no kids to be at the house while they were at work. She did all the housework, but she didn't drive. She ironed EVERYTHING, even socks and underwear. Our parents wanted her to teach us how to at least fold our own laundry to put it away, but i think she got frustrated and did it herself.
      I went off to college not really knowing how to even do laundry. The first time I went to the laundry room, I stared at the machines, temperature. Hmm, cold, warm, hot. Well, warm is in the middle so I picked warm. I dumped in everything. White pants, maroon cashmere sweater, bright yellow thing my dad gave me from the phillippines that didn't have the dye set. Everything came out this weird dingy greyish, pinkish, yellowish tint, and my favorite sweater came out of the dryer small enough for a teddy bear. Sigh, well, I can't buy a whole new wardrobe, so I just had to live with that. I taught my kids how to do laundry when they were young so they would not meet the same fate.
      Both my sisters liked sewing so they probably learned washing and ironing from that. I took sewing, but thought it was boring. I liked woodshop and metal shop better.
      As an adult I didn't like paying for clothes over and over again by buying dry clean stuff, so I only buy washable stuff for the most part now. Lots of dry clean stuff can actually be washed on delicate. Never any more pleated things though, the cleaners charged to press PER PLEAT!!! omg...

    Wonderful and I really appreciate all of the tutorial details. Both ironing boards look 100% real and authentic!
    Your ironing boards remind me of the wooden ironing board in my childhood home. It was an ironing board that folded down when you opened the door to its “flat closet” that had been put into the wall of our kitchen. I thought it was magical as a child … open a door and an ironing board folded out to use! It was a BIG DEAL to use a real iron as a child - ironing hankies, pillow cases, etc. Mostly though, my siblings and I used the ironing board as a flat sturdy surface for draping sheets over - so we could make an indoor tent/fort/playhouse, etc. Such fun!
    Thanks again … I so appreciate you and all of your videos! Kathleen
