You had me until Naples. We just got back from a Christmas trip to Rome, and Naples was by far the biggest disappointment. But the other places you mentioned looked awesome. Will have to go back. Great video!
Rome at Christmas is wonderful. more popular than people think with all the Italian European and Italian tourists. So Naples was not you favorite. I guess it is kinda an acquired taste. The more times you spend there the more you really appreciate it. I just love the culture in Naples. In my opinion it has the best food in all of Italy and the people are great. I appreciate your comments. Thanks
Nice! We were there at Frascati and Tivoli last summer. Yes! Villa D'Este is very beautiful. 3 weeks holiday in Italy. We stayed at my cousin's house in Guidonia. Hopefully, we can go back there. How I love Italy!
We went on a day trip to Anzio and Nettuno and absolutely loved it! 5 Euro 30 min train ride and your are on the beach or watching a great sunset over the Sea. Great video, we are going to get to Naples next time for sure for a couple of days.
I visited Tivoli as a day trip in 2005 to see the Villa d' Este and Hadrian's Villa, I absolutely loved it! The Villa d'Este was a highlight of my whole trip. Highly recommend.
I love Naples! I already booked my train ticket from Rome! Could not believe it was only an hour. Have you been to Sicily? Loved the food there! But Naples has the best pizza for sure!
This is a fabulous video! Tivoli has been on my wish list for a few years now - I will definitely be going there. The other towns look very interesting too. Thank you so much!! 🤩🤩
We have an upcoming trip to Rome. I stumbled on your channel and am bing watching your videos. Thank you for sharing your experiences. Much appreciated!
We visit Italy 2 times a year and stay in Florence. We spend 4 or 5 nights in Rome and will visit some of your favorite spots. Thanks for the tips. Ciao.
Thank you for this video. Perfect information for my next, and probably last, trip to Italy which I'm planning now. I want to stay in a smaller town near Rome for a couple nights after arrival from the western US and before I spend a couple weeks in Rome. You included a couple of the towns I was considering so perfect timing! Grazie!
The 2 towns that make most sense to base from outside of Rome are Fascati and Tivoli. If you have a car and want to visit all of the Casteli Romani towns it makes a great option. If you are looking for a great small town with lots to see and do and easy access to Rome, Tivoli is perfect. If you do plan on staying in Tivoli the Airbnb I mentioned really is ideal!
@@RozierRoma Thank you! I did visit Tivoli as a day trip from Rome in 2005. Villa d'Este was a highlight of the entire trip and I liked Hadrian's Villa too. I would return if a friend joins me for part of the time in Rome and they want to go. Frascati was on the radar for a couple quiet recuperation days. Coming from the Rocky Mtn. states is not that easy and it's long......flight(s). Any lodging recommendations there? Grazie mille.
Exactly what I was looking for.....we'll be in Rome 3-4 days pre-cruise and have been once before, so looking for other things within a couple hours from Rome to checkout. Thanks
While there are some really good thing to see in Naples I like best just roaming through the Center Historical area, walking through the Spanish district and eating tons of food. The best food in all of Italy in my opinion. You can take the tram up the hill from the city center area and get great views of the city, Vesuvius, and there is a neat castle to tour up there. You can walk long the bay and most important eat the best pizza in the world! Naples is a huge city so it is also easy to get lost and maybe run into something unexpected. If your expectations are low and you like really nice people you may just fall in love with Naples. It is a city more about the culture that the sites for sure. If you want a very entertaining meal eat at Nennella. All inclusive 3 course meal and entertainment 16 euros.
Great video and great advice for day trips! Why didn't we visit some of these places long ago? I could kick myself (if I could kick :) )for not going to some of these places. Not sure my wheelchair would fit in some of those alleys but I'd love to give it a try!
I have never been there. I did look it up on the map and saw that is located about halfway to Naples along the coast. It looks like more of a town for a quick day trip than a overnight, but I could be wrong if you’re looking for a place to stay a couple of nights with lots of Sandu, give Tivoli a shot.
That AirBnB looks great! We are thinking of going and staying a night or even two. If we came by train and stayed there with no car, you say Villa Adriana is 2 km away...we are pretty fit but might be walked out by then after Rome and Florence, is there uber or other transport around? Or do you recommend a car (it looks like parking for the place is not near, at another location or something.) Also, is the AirBnB pretty close walk the quaint town area if we want to go out in the evening? Thanks so much - we are very much enjoying your videos. We may end up getting your guidebook, too!
The Airbnb looks like it is on the edge of town which it is but only a 2 to 3 minute walk to all the shops and everything. you do not need a car for anything in Tivoli. You can catch a bus to Villa Adriana for a couple euros. I taxi should not cost more than €10. If you did have a car there is a parking lot less than 5 minute walk to home but €10 a day to park. So much easier with train. Tivoli really is nice!
@@RozierRoma Thank you. We booked it for two nights in April. We also told the host that we sought it out per your recommendation. Thank you for all your helpful videos.

I just found your channel today and I am so glad because yours has been the most informative! We are going to Rome in January 2025 and hoping to see one of the Holy Doors opened by the Holy See. Also, would you recommend a day trip to Pisa and Florence? Is both doable in a day and if so, ate both cities worth it? Thank you.
Florence 100%! Easy day trip from Rome. Pisa has not high speed rail and harder to do with limited time. I lived in Pisa for a couple months when I was younger. Nice city, tower a bit over rated but I would skip and focus on Florence. You will love Florence!

We spend 6 months a year in Italy at this point. We have kids and family in the states. Each visit we spend time in different area bit we have spent lots of time in Trastevere.
I appreciate that. Yes, I will be doing other cities, but only cities within a couple hours of Rome. My channel is about Rome and the surrounding area. I appreciate you taking time to leave a comment.
Tivili only takes about 15 minutes to walk from one end to the other. To visit Hadrian's Villa you will need to take a bus or taxi. You can walk but it will take about 40 minutes.
The best way is to take a train to Orvieto, a little over an hour and then a taxi to Civita di Bagnoregio. There are busses at the Orvieto train station but they do not run very often. If you take the bus there is still about a 30 minute walk from stop to town.

Great to hear. Naples is more about Italian culture than museums and monuments. If you come hungry you will love Naples.
Tivoli is definitely on my list!!! It looks beautiful and is easily accessible!!
Tivoli is great. It also makes a great location to base from when visiting Rome if Rome is too crowded or too expensive.

Tivoli get overlooked by so many people. Private tour with hotel pickup sounds great
Just curious who you used for your private tour to Tivoli?
Thanks so much we will be their middle September. Booked hotel on your suggestion. This is something we defiantly will do.

Once again - you've given us a helpful video! I've never heard of most of those towns but how charming are they?!
Looking for charm, best bests are Spoleto, Tivoli and Bracciano. All are incredible! If you have a car the Casteli Romani area lots of fun.

Hello do you have any videos on Abruzzo
Sorry, not yet.

Trenitalia trains they have one about every hour

Do you recommend the train or the bus when traveling to Tivoli?
Trains. I have never taken the bus to Tivoli. It may be good. They probably cost about the same. The train is about three euros.
Thanks for all your videos. We arrive in Rome today-going to take advantage of the things we’ve learned from you.

Handy video, but Jesus, it's a terrible choice for music.
Ouch! I really like my choice of music. I realize it is not for everyone.
Language tip: "Brah-channoh". You don't pronounce the "I" as its purpose is to make it a "cha" sound vs a hard c "kuh" sound.
Got it, thanks
Do you recommend the train or the bus when traveling to Tivoli?
For me I love trains
