    Thanks brother! Your instructions worked like a tee on my '16 Ram. I didn't think I could do it in the same time frame seeing I didn't have a 5 foot screwdriver but I did. The big thanks are to those clamps....drive me nuts! Never know if you lift, push or squeeze. Also note, I removed the old valve and could blow through it. The new one you can't.

    Very helpful, I assumed the worst when my check engine came on. I thought for sure my transmission was on its way out but this is the code that ran on the computer. With your video, if this is the problem, I can now fix my own truck for about $40 and about an hour of time. It'll be an hour for me because I'm slow as hell when it comes to anything larger than a 2 stroke engine.

    Thanks for the helpful video. I just replaced mine; it was one of the easiest car repairs I've ever done.
    Couple of things I learned:
    1) At 1:28 you can use a regular flathead screwdriver to take the hose clamp off by going underneath the 2 A/C lines, rather than between them.
    2) At 1:42 on my '17 there aren't rubber gaskets for the air hose, it seals directly on the plastic. It was stuck on there real good. It was easier to break the airbox side loose first, which gave me leverage to rotate the entire air hose to break the intake manifold side loose easier. Once off I recommend cleaning the sealing surface with WD-40, to ensure it seals when you reinstall it. It also makes reinstallation much easier.

    Thanks! Followed along perfectly. Taking the sensor off the big air hose was a little different on a 2016 but just needed to be turned to the left and then pulled off. Otherwise perfect instructions. Hope it finally gets rid of the check fuel cap light that keeps coming on!

    Just a heads up on you guys that get a p0456 on your rams. Mine is a 2014. I was getting the code and thought it was maybe the gas cap but i wasnt getting the gas cap light. So i checked all the lines. Turns out it was the line going from the silinoid to just right by the throttle body. It looked like it was on but i pushed down on it and it slide down just a little. It doesn't even have a clamp on it. just that tiny fraction of being loose was throwing my code. Now no more code.

      Me too. I had the P0456 in a 2015 Charger V8 and I was able to push down just a little on the fuel vent line that goes to the throttle body. Erased the code and haven't come back in 24hours.
      Now, I don't know if I should return the canister valve or keep it as replacement. ( part PV749 at autozone)

    Solid video, easy to understand and follow along. Down side is I don't know that this will fix what I'm dealing with. I have a P0455 code (EVAP system leak monitor, large leak detected). Any suggestion? Odor comes from near the gas cap/fill area. No fuel leak. New gas cap put on, did clear out the code. Occasionally the gas cap light will turn on, then turn back off after a few minutes. Loose connector? Loose hose? This did start after replacing the fuel level sending unit so I dropped the tank and disconnected everything. Put everything back on after, but maybe not tight enough?

    • @ryeweskey
      @ryeweskey Рік тому

      I was told at a dealership to take some fine grit sand paper and see if you can clean up the lip of the filler tank. Where the gas cap seats. It gets sort of corroded there I guess. Might be something to try. Just a quick sand to clean up any of the Junk they said.

    Is this the same as p0441? My check gas cap light popped on yesterday. Tightened cap & reset code with obd reader & code didnt go away. I keep my truck over half full & when i feel it i stop when the pump clicks once. No gas smell or nothing like that. Whats your suggestion? I hate dash lights 😡

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  5 років тому +1

      The code for the gas cap cant be cleared.....a test has to be run to make sure there are evap leaks and if it passes, you can then clear the code. If tightening the cap was the fix then it may take driving it for awhile and at least one fill up of fuel for it to run the test itself and store the code so that you can then clear it.

The gas pump continually clicks off everytime, dealer replaced filler neck, canister, and vent hoses. Same problem, could this Evap Vent Solenoid be causing the issue? Ive read that if the pump keeps clicking, this could be the problem. If it is, is there something i can do to fix it other than Having to deal with it till it gets back to the dealer? Maybe check lines from it? Thanks alot

    Question: Where exactly is the Purge Control Valve, P/N 25014001, located on a 2015 Dodge Durango? I had a MIL light illuminate and code P0456 came up on my BlueDriver analyzer. I had the dealer perform safety recall U65/NHTSA 18V-332 to reprogram the PCM which is a fix for said code. While there the dealer claimed they replaced aforementioned valve. However, I saw no evidence of any tooling marks on screws or finger prints in the fine dust which covered the entire engine bay i.e. nobody touched anything there. Luckily the car was under warranty and there's no complaint. Just verifying the valve's location for curiosity.

    So I have a 2013 dodge charger. I had the smell of gas or fumes in my engine cabin. Thought it was the fuel tank or the the pump. Took the seat off smelled fine no leaks and I can hear the pumps turning on. So a month later I got the p0456. Said evap leak. Did research found that it could be this part. Or the canister which is under the wheel well. Would that cause the smell though? I read it can. But I'm thinking if my best bet is just to replace both since I check the fuel tank already. I found it could be the filler neck. But no smell there. Also the smell went away after a while but comes back faintly.

      When it comes to EVAP leaks.....an external machine will need to be hooked up and the system tested to see if it will hold pressure and then smoke the system if needed to help locate the leak. Otherwise you will be guessing and throwing parts at it.

      Most likely those evap codes you mentioned will play a part in this issue. It could be a tank issue or a vent issue. I recommend having those evap codes checked and tested and then see if any change. If still acting up then the tank may need to be replace due to a sticking valve that cant be replaced separately. The most common cause are the fuel tank. The inlet ball can stick. If you try removing all vent hoses and still have issues....then the tank may be needed. As far as support. Thats a possibility but requires further testing such as checking to make sure the EVAP system is sealed and then to see if the purge solenoid is working correctly. I would wait until the code returns then you can either try the purge solenoid or have it tested to see what it might be. Thanks for the question. Make sure to subscribe

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  5 років тому +1

      If the system runs the leak test and it notices that the fuel was just added then it "assumes" it might be a gas cap if the test fails. Any leak can cause this if it runs the test after fill up. I recommend having the system tested first to make sure its sealed and then check the related components. I dont recommend just replacing anything at this point....testing is needed otherwise you might be wasting money. Thanks for asking and make sure to subscribe.

      Zabeh Khanjer actually the manifold studs were causing that issue. (ticks when cold until the metal expands then stops) the purge valve only makes sound on mine when the engine is at running temperature and I only hear it at idle.

    I have a 2010 dodge ram 1500 and found the solenoid under the battery box. But here's the rub. There is a line going to the throttle body and a electric connector but that's all. Isn't there supposed to be a line that goes out the bottom to the gas tank? Please advise

      The purge solenoid in the service info shows one line directly out the bottom on the purge solenoid and one out the side. There should be 2. One leads to the engine and the other to the canistor underneath the vehicle.
