Thanks, that was great! If you don't want to wait for the car to warm up, you can remove the electrical connector on the valve and clip a wire to each of your battery terminals. Carefully touch the other ends to the electrical contacts on the valve. If the valve is good, you'll hear a clicking sound as the solenoid moves.

I HAVE A 05 MERCURY MARINER. USING YOUR VIDEO HERE AND EVEN THOUGH IT'S FROM ANOTHER TYPE OF VEHICLE, I LOCATED MY PURGE VALVE AND I WILL PERFORM THIS EXACT TEST. IF IT'S BAD I WILL REPLACE IT. MOST OF ALL YOUR VIDEO HERE WILL SAVE ME THE TROUBLE OF GOING UNDERNEATH THE CAR NEAR THE GAS TANK AND CHANGING THE VENT SOLENOID VALVE WHICH MAY STILL BE GOOD. IF THE PURGE VALVE TURNS OUT TO BE BAD. THEN I KNOW IT'S NOT THE VENT VALVE UNDERNEATH THE GAS TANK. THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR POSTING THESE TYPES OF VIDEOS. IT HELPS ELIMINATE A HEADACHE AND IT HELPS PEOPLE KEEP UP ON THE MAINTENANCE OF THEIR CARS. WHO HAS TIME TO TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC AND YOU GOT TO LEAVE THE CAR THERE ALL DAY WHEN YOU NEED TO USE YOUR CAR DAILY. AND IT'S A TOSS OF THE DICE IF THE MECHANIC IS HONEST OR NOT..

thanks for posting this ... can small evap leaks cause car engines to heat (not necessarily overheat) due to these exhausts not pumping fast enough?
can it cause a car to "shake and rumble" upon acceleration? my guess is an exhaust pipe might cause those types of issues.

What if it works intermittently? When I started the car (2008 mercury mariner hybrid) it would not suck even after warming up. The car was higher than normal on idle and the p0455 code came in. I have checked voltage on the connector and I was getting 14v. When it went down to 13v I plugged it back to the valve and it started sucking. The engine light went away. Is the valve the issue or should I look elsewhere?

Question... I ran my engine a good 20 minutes and the valve never pulled suction although in the hose from the manifold - there was suction. So I placed my finger over the open tube on the valve for a few seconds and in doing so it began to function as you show. Is it possible the valve is intermittent or sticking thus throwing the codes?

I have an 07 avalanche. I got that code and it says its for that. Would that fix my starting issues? Because sometimes it takes up to 2 to 3 tries to turn on

Problem is it is NOT showing the 3rd vacuum line going to the Purge on Fords, all the way to 2008. Not the bigger diameter plastic line carrying the fumes into the manifold, the small diameter plastic line the supplies vacuum from throttle body to the purge valve.
Not one so-called expert has answered this, though on one site the author said it was needed for a Ford Purge to operate.
I had a big vacuum leak/P0171 mechanic knocked the line off at the TB, I found it/fixed it. I had ZERO EVAP-related codes during the 2 weeks the vacuum line was disconnected, so what exactly is this vacuum line for? During the time it was off, I had all the usual things a vacuum leak would exhibit. Fuel trims way too high, high idle, then low rough idle, stalling, and low downstream O2 sensor readings. Also the P0171 would come back after I cleared it.
