I love how John fell for the same trick his mother did in T2, the whole voice utilization with Terminators is criminally underrated, and isn't used enough to initialize psychological warfare. More like a *_"Psyche, you got fooled."_*

I love how this terminator, like the original, is relentless and is actually hard to kill.
And it finally shows how it will go for your weaknesses, such as punching his heart and stopping it from beating to easily terminate him.
Also this terminator: throw john and marcus around instead of going for the kill right away

@@thecommentguy9380 In the novelization, John has a suspicion that Skynet has something other than death in mind for him, lamenting on the fact that out of the hundreds of machines in the facility, Skynet only sends one to face him. It was only after John fully rigged the factory to blow that killing him became more important than keeping him alive, at which point the T-800 pushed the metal bar through his chest. The sequel book Trial by Fire confirms that Skynet intended to take John alive and convert him into a hybrid like Marcus to undermine the Resistance from within.
The T-800 in this movie looks powerful, badass and also creepy. Like It should be

the moment the molten metal leaves the heating chamber, it is drastically cooled and in order to establish a connection, both metals would have to be very heated
also you dont need LAVA :D lava is nothing more them melted stone you just need heat and time!
in T2 we see the T-800 dying in hot liquid metall but we only see it shut down (overheating ) it could need hours for the t-800 to get molted
the T-1000 on the other hand had problems with head and cold conditions its alloy must be very very unstable and week
the heatinside the building itself was to strong strong enough to let him conect with the ground or railing it melted very fast because it did not had a real form

I enjoy how through all of the fight scenes, John is running through all of his weapons and ammo, switching to another as one is lost or discarded. There's a little bit of continuity error between all of the scenes, but at the end of it, we still see him limping around with an empty holster and grenade loops. Good visual progression.
I'd credit Christian bale for alot of that kind like how Keanu Reeves is. So satisfying watching him pick up clips in john wick and even the number of shots matching with the clip even going as far as initially having 1 in the chamber but after he reloads off a clip that extra round is no longer present

This is the perfect ending for the franchise, it explores the creation of the original Terminator and also sees John Connor sending his father to the past to meet Sarah and keep the timeline safe. Even if it doesn't have a final countdown it's a pretty solid full circle.
Technically, T2 was the perfect ending. But if we have to get more sequels, I wouldn't call this "perfect" by any means. It would've been a pretty alright ending for the franchise, but far from perfect. But don't get me wrong, I really like this movie. A step in the right direction for this franchise, which Genisys and Dark Fate messed up.
For me the franchise ended with T2 but if they had to make more sequels a this would not have been a bad way to end the series. If only Genesis and Dark Fate didn’t happen

And the Terminator Salavtion: The Final Battle (the real T5 and T6 that should've existed if it weren't for Genisys and Dark Fate) graphic novel miniseries. It wrapped up the classic Terminator saga really nicely without leaving anything behind.

Fun fact! This timeline does have an ending and closure in the T4:Salvation comics! And it's pretty good! It does have some time traveling shenanigans but they all create a closed loop that neatly wraps the whole series in a good ending better than genysis and dark fate did

Thank you! I didn't mind the time travel for the first 3 and I was happy to have a glimpse of the early part of the war through this film but when Genisys came out, I was pissed. I was even more pssed when Dark Fate was introduced and it turned out to be another time travel film.
I wish they continued the war with another film or two following this.

Notice how when the T-800 stabbed Connor on the chest he did little to nothing to defend himself from Marcus. The T-800 may have thought he terminated John, lol
Correct. The T-800 no longer knows what to do anymore after they have achieved their main goal in terminating a primary target.
When young John Connor asked his T-800 in Terminator 2 whether the cyborg feels any emotion, the T-800 (Arnie) replied, "No. I have to stay functional until my mission is complete. Then it doesn't matter".
This phrase is very important in telling that the cyborg does not care anymore what happens to them after their mission has completed. So as in this case, the T-800 here has "terminated" John Connor. And it indeed "doesn't matter" anymore if Marcus destroyed it afterwards. Marcus is not the target at all, hence the T-800 will not defend itself.
I'm guessing that the T-800 fought Marcus the first time because he got in the way of its primary objective
More like Marcus caught it off guard with his reflexes in that moment. Was too focused on John to notice at first.

I actually enjoyed this movie. I still can't believe it didn't get a sequel. I know this movie was supposed to kick off a new trilogy set entirely in the future war. Such a shame we never saw this series properly finished! I really applaud this movie for trying to be different, that time travel was no longer a primary focus point was something I loved. Sure this movie has its flaws, but I thought McG did a pretty good job overall.

This film sucked back then and it sucks today. This whole scene is a ripoff from Terminator 2's ending and T-H tearing off T-800's head is just laughable. They never got enough balls to kill John Connor and replace him wih a terminator, as their initial script suggested, thus making Salvation's ending completely useless and leading to nothing. If there was something ahead of it's time in this film, then it's probably the idea that upcoming Terminator sequels will suck more and more balls.
The truth is the rushed this film ahead of its time .. if they would have took time on it it could have been great .. this what happens when you put a howard in a movie like if you agree or disagree 😏

There was CG in the film obviously but it was done well, some of the time it was mixed together with practical effects, some of the time it was just practical.

I didn't think about it until now, but this scene is a direct reference to the final scene in Terminator where Kyle and Sarah are in the plant, trapped with the T-800, and the T-800 is just it's endoskeleton, and it's more frightening than ever before. It's the same scenario, except now it's John protecting his father from the same threat. Not sure if that makes sense.
Terminator Salvation will always be a classic terminator movie. Stood the test of time.

The reason they dropped Connor so much is because of the audience's detachment. At this point, John Connor has been played by a different actor in every film he's in and it affects the audience's ability to attach to the character. They did what had to be done.
Also, I thought Reese said in T1 that "All the records were lost in the war, Skype knew nothing of John's past." But yet, Skynet knows Klye Reese, a nobody in the world, is #1 on its hit list bec6it knows killing Kyle kills John.
Could you imagine a terminator wanting to save you and another wanting to kill you.
But in the process the one that saved you becomes your friend and gives what’s left of his life to you.
That’s an insane story and that’s why I love terminator salvation.
I just love how the T-800s armor is so hard to penetrate. So far we haven't seen anything put a hole into it. The most they've ever done is dismember it or tear it's head off. That and how relentless it is makes it still the most terrifying Terminator in the series. In T1, it didn't give up chasing Reese and Sarah until it actually lost them unlike the T-1000 which still had them in sight but stopped chasing cause they were a fair distance down the road

God, the sound design in this film is so good. The Terminators all sound so dangerous and intimidating.
I like it, but it doesn't make much sense considering these models are supposed to be the eventual infiltrators and are whirring and grinding (which you'd hear even under all the flesh and tissue)

I loved this movie. I don't know why it got panned. There's a great depth throughout. Sure some parts have crappy storytelling, and the dialogue could have been better. But overall I like this movie
Love how this showed the origin of how John got the scar. The scar has been a consistent attribute of future John in T2, Genesis and even the OG Terminator Game "Dawn of FATE"

In fact now I really wish those 2 planned sequels they had for Salvation would have happened, cause then we could have atleast seen more of the future war. I mean heck, this even showed how John got the scars he had in T2 future war segment/intro scene...so in defense of Salvation, it really tried to move franchise forward atleast and how us how things went on after Judgement day and close the circle so to speak. Ofc I know some Terminator fans never liked the idea that Judgement Day could not be prevented and thus dont accept any Terminator movies after T2, but personally I was open to the idea that some events could simply not be prevented, only altered. And lets be real here, most Terminator fans would have atleast wanted to see more of the future war.

The original script had John Connor killed after the battle with the T800 and then had Marcus Wright being transplanted his face. After his terminator protocols kicked in and he killed his lieutenants and his wife with the movie ending there on a cliffhanger without the viewer knowing if the machines just won, or if Marcus wearing Connor's face would keep his legend alive

dude. when the t800 has the molten steel poured on top of him, he looks like the embodiment of terror; superheated glow PLUS the molten material kinda envoloped him and formed an hooded cloak. it looks sick ina movie format, but just imagine going up against one of these with limited resources. technically, john connor died here, without the help of marcus.
The CQC in this scene was pretty great. Quick and to the point. Loved bow Marcus didn't skip a beat as soon as he got revived. Saw the jarring new reality, laid John down, snapped the bar, jammed it in the Term barely looking, and decapped it, all in 1 smooth motion. Really sold the Marcus char is far more than human or machine.
I thought molten steel killed T800s since that’s how Arnie died at the end of T2

I like both theories but remember earlier in the movie when John was looking at the data at the beginning of the movie the one soldier said “a new terminator like you said their would be.” And John says “no much worse.” Maybe they made them resistant to heat.
Also there is one huge difference where T2 t800 allowed itself to be sunk into molten steel pool where this one merely had limited amount of molten steel poured over it, not enough to melt through its exoskeleton and burn the CPU...as long as that CPU inside its head remains intact as well as its powercells on its chest, its still capable of continue.
Either way this goes right along with the original idea that T800 models were extremely hard to destroy without the kind of more advanced weapons that we see human resistance using in T1 and T2 future war scenes....
I mean thats what made T800 so terrifying in original movie and thats something they forgot at some point.
This terminator survived being poured molten steel at him cuz its CPU somehow was still functional Or something? For those who forget the CPU is a sort memory terminators usually carry with them inside their endo skulls, without those simcards these terminators aren't able to operate at all and carry out missions
In T-2 the T-800 was substantially more damaged and it was lowered and fully submerged into molten steel while this one was just showered by it (which means the the temperature of this molten steel wasn't as high as the one contained in a container like in T2). Plus even when he was fully submerged in T2 the T-800 was still functional for some time and was able to give that famous thumbs up before it finally shut down. T-800 are resistant to extreme temperatures to a degree.
I don’t think salvation gets the recognition it deserves. The film is far better than genysis and dark fate. We need another film like this in the franchise.

Better than what people gave it credit for and time passing by with other movies showed that. the sounds and looks of the Terminators in this movie were a treat.
